OSCAR THE ROACH IS DEAF?
So this began with a thing where a friend in a non-English side of the world told me that her local copy of Quest for Paradise has a bit where a character teaches Geronimo Italian sign language because said character is deaf
I looked through the Internet Archive’s French copy of Quest for Paradise because it had it AND:
Tumblr media
OSCAR IS DEAF AND THE ONLY REASON HE’S BEEN ABLE TO TALK TO EVERYONE NORMALLY IS BECAUSE HE READS LIPS WHEN SOMEONE TALKS TO HIM AND TAUGHT HIMSELF HOW TO TALK
HERE’S THE TRANSLATION OF THE EXCERPT:
In the evening, we stopped to rest. Oscar lit a fire... put up the tent... and offered us a delicious cup of hot chocolate.
While I was sipping it... I found a crystal key: strange strange!
Then I congratulated Oscar: "My friend, you are great! You know how to do everything!
He smiled.
"If you want, I can even teach you something useful and fun: LSF!
I asked, intrigued: "LSF?"
Oscar proudly explained, "Yes, French sign language. It's a language like any other, like French, Italian or English! But it has something more: it's a natural language, visual, not spoken! I know this language because I was born deaf. I use it with those who know it. Otherwise, I learned to pronounce the words and even to... read lips!"
I was in awe: "I didn't realize you couldn't hear!"
Oscar smiled again. "I may be deaf, but I can therefore read the words you speak on your lips and I can speak like you!"
Then he taught me this extraordinary language:
The next part of the chapter is six entire pages of demonstrations for LSF (a localization, which makes sense because the Italian copy has Oscar teach Italian Sign Language/Lingua dei Segni Italiana)
Now you unenlightened folk may be wondering “Oh cool! Does the English translation do the same thing and have Oscar teach ASL?” and to that I very sadly and indignantly say “NO”. They don’t even mention Oscar being deaf or anything that could possibly allude to it. Unless a game of charades counts.
Tumblr media
Those two pages comprise the entire chapter titled “A Peaceful Night”.
Yes this is sad, yes this is pathetic, yes this is why the chapter is so short, yes Scholastic I am very disappointed in you, do better. If you dare say that learning about people who can’t hear is something too heavy for 6-10 kids then I WILL LEGIT SLAP YOU
Follow-up edit: APPARENTLY THEY EVEN USED SIGN LANGUAGE LATER ON IN THE BOOK IN THE SCENE WHERE CACKLE INTERROGATES G ABOUT THE HEART
In the English book G just does a thing like “why the hell did Cackle conveniently turn away from G in the middle of her asking for the heart” and he points to the pond while Cackle is conveniently turned away
APPARENTLY IN THE ORIGINAL G TOLD OSCAR IN SIGN LANGUAGE THAT THE HEART WAS IN THE POND, ALL WHILE TALKING TO CACKLE
Tumblr media
LIKE BRUH SCHOLASTIC WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL YOU CUT OUT AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT BIT OF LORE FOR WUT???

My New KoF Headcanon
I am currently studying Biology for my college, and it is my Major. Some of the class lectures I remember listening to were the concepts of Evolution, an 'Early Earth', and Selective Breeding. So out of the things I have learned in those courses, I proposed a new headcanon for the fictional world of Geronimo Stilton and Elizabetta Dami's 'Kingdom of Fantasy' book series.
Remember, this theory is completely fan-made, so do not take this too seriously, and do not regard it as any original work from the author of the 'Kingdom of Fantasy' book series.
~~ BEWARE OF SUGGESTIVE CONTENT AHEAD! DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO THEMES SUCH AS GENOCIDE OR SOCIAL INJUSTICE! ~~
My idea suggests that before there was a diverse range of creatures living in such a world, there were two primeval species: Fairies (a more 'ancient' variety, not like the ones in the books) and Demons. The early Fairies were a species that came to the land by falling from the sky (like shooting stars), while the Demons were originally living in the Kingdom of Fantasy. At that time, there were still many 'pure-bred' Demon species and variants, dwelling in environments from mountains to forests, and even the oceans and ice caps. In addition to that, there were likely regular humans living in the early KoF already, but they did not play significant roles yet.
The early Fairies still had blue skin and two pairs of white wings (similar to those of the Crystal Castle today), but the wings of the ancient species were probably larger and scalier (especially on the outer layers to keep their wings safe from the elements). Supposedly made of cosmic material, it was believed that the Fairies could absorb and use energy from any celestial body, like the Sun, stars, or the Moon. Pure-bred Demons usually had animal-like legs, pointed ears, dark eyes for night-vision, claws, fangs, horns and/or tails, and occasionally a pair of large wings (depending on the environment). They were able to manipulate any kind of magic and transform into any kind of animal they chose. However, the one thing they had in common was the trait of having Souls highly saturated with magic.
Years have passed since the Fairies and Demons have tried to coexist with one another, then either species assumed that one was too powerful and too dangerous, so it was then decided that both could not handle putting aside their differences anymore. Over the eras, battles have clashed between the species, and there were laws that set them apart even more. This was until a ruling Fairy decided to capture pure-bred Demons and forcefully breed them with other species to decrease their magical capabilities. This condition has remained for several generations, while many pure-breds and Fairies who opposed that heinous tactic were executed. The energy in their Souls were then used to enhance weapons.
As a result of such injustice, newer and lesser species have been formed, such as Shapeshifters, Elves, Mer-folk, Wizards/Witches, and other beings, including new Fairy varieties (probably descending from the ones that opposed the genocide of the Demons). However, some Fairies still decided to keep their 'purity' by disregarding certain species, such as the 'evil' Wizards/Witches and Dark Fairies, believing that they were and are the closest things to Demons.
I am still trying my best to develop this fan-made theory, but I still hope you enjoyed reading it. On the other hand, I cannot put this idea into one large fanfiction because it is complicated and time/energy consuming, and I am already busy enough as it is. However, I can sneak in some references of this in my Kingdom of Fantasy fanfics in future chapters. Feel free to post any comments and suggestions. Thank you for reading this, and stay fantastic!

Decided to ✨️revive✨️ one of my old Chronache/Caviliere del Regno Della Fantasia after ocs chatting with @auri-ace LMAO
I created her with a friend when we were aboutttt 11-12 years old, so she and her gang are among the oldest ocs ive got! Her name's Acacia, or Ace, and she's among the order of knights as Audace and Spica's oldest (or only, im not sure) kid
She's got a lot of spunk and disrespect stemming from naievety about her parents/the other knights's pasts. Even more so, as a not all that promising knight, she's got issues of her own to figure out as well!
Despite that, she's a kid desperate for approval and adventure, for chances to prove herself in ways she's been told those before her did.
She has always been a very interesting character to me, mainly due to how she's developed alongside me as I grew up and my perspectives shaped. After my reread of the series, I had a lot to think about on how I viewed the themes and the characters/character development in comparison to how I viewed it as a kid.
Ive talked about it before, but it's very surreal to outgrow characters, but at the same time, not, because after the timeskip, the main characters gain 10 years in age. Due to my own growing up and becoming an adult, I've started to view these characters a lot differently and started to read between the lines of their development, which really surprised me, if I'm honest.
Underneath these fantasy adventure stories, is a cast of heavily traumatised characters whose traumas never get adressed. And that, after viewing it as just an adventure for years, really made me realise how I have grown up myself.
I'm kind of curious on how I'll use this knowledge on Acacia, tho.
Anyway I'm cringe but I'm free, urging yall to make stories about your own ocs for old fandoms cuz its just plain fun

Just discovered something really...stupid, I guess, regarding a book series I'm reading. Their native language is Italian, but I read them in Dutch because they don't have an English translation (and I don't speak Italian lol)
SO basically in Italian the entire series has the name Principesse del Regno della Fantasia (Princesses of the Kingdom of Fantasy, roughly translated) and counts 13 books. For whatever reason, in Dutch the series has been split into two arcs???
The first arc is called Princessen van Fantasia (pretty much translates to Princesses of the Kingdom of Fantasy as well) and counts seven books. The second is called Heksen van Fantasia (Witches of Fantasia/the Kingdom of Fantasy) and counts six books.
Just WHY would you split up a book series into two arcs for the translation process? Me no comprehendo

Please don't repost without my permission
Hello, everyone. I’m back…sort of.
I’ve recently decided to take a little “break” on Instagram (more like “being less active”, but oh well) since it was damaging my confidence in my art and it was also a distraction from my studies and projects (I’m still very much distracted, but if I can take one distraction away, it already helps a lot).
This drawing is a very different drawing from all the others I’ve posted so far. It was created with the intention of being submitted to a contest. Unfortunately, I didn’t get in and I debated whether to upload it or not for a while.
Ultimately, I decided to post it and I decided to translate the original document that I sent out that complimented the piece.
Hope you enjoy it.
Name: Metullji
Synopsis: “Metulji” means “Butterflies” in Slovenian. That little animal we feel in our stomach when we are nervous. That animal that represents consequences, death and rebirth – that represents transformation.
This is a piece about love with others, the acceptance of the “I” and how I am without forgetting the “I” that I once was.
Proposal: This piece is the culmination of various thoughts that occur on a day-to-day basis. The lack of romantic love in life, the lack of love with oneself and the complications imposed by society.
For these reasons, we see a character’s back, because they no longer look at society or whatever it imposes. We see a character with a bare torso and of an unknown gender because this character doesn’t fit into the binary of the quotidian. We see a character kissing a butterfly – or being kissed by a butterfly – because they are ready to accept this change, this rebirth they bring with it.
The purple illuminates the darkness around and it doesn’t represent royalty or nobles unlike what one might think, but instead a light at the end of the tunnel. Because each person has their way of living, and to this character, purple is the color, it’s the light, that will guide them into a better life. It’s the calm in knowing that, sometimes, what’s simple is what’s correct. The correct is knowing how to love oneself, knowing how to not judge and it’s knowing that in life there are ups and downs and that with each action there will be a consequence.
This piece was inspired by personal experience and a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, but, from a point of view of the visual, it was inspired by two pieces of media. The first one, a song and an album that I have fallen in love with recently, “Metulji” from the “Umazane Misli” album by the Slovenian band Joker Out. The second inspiration was a book from my childhood “Principessa del Buio” by Tea Stilton from the “ Principesse del regno della fantasia” collection.
In the book, the protagonist princess has gigantic butterflies as her pets that act as the “national animal” of her kingdom. This princess has no names for these butterflies because she finds it “futile” to name countless butterflies who had a small lifespan. And it was, in part, that symbolism I searched for in these beautiful insects that don’t live long lives like ours, but instead they live a carefree life with no anxieties.
The song mentioned can be interpreted as a goodbye or as a “Saudade” for a relationship that no longer exists. That’s why the kiss of the butterfly represents the farewell of that sensation of adrenaline when you are with someone.
I would like to keep my journey of self-discovery private. But I can’t wait until the day I can walk shirtless and not be judged and not judge myself.

So here's a thing I found in KoF book 1
Once again, it's Scholastic cutting out the meaningful things that have absolutely no business being cut out of the book. In this particular instance, I'd like to bring to you the last chapter of the first Kingdom of Fantasy book:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you were like me when I first read the book (digitally because I didn't have a physical copy), you were probably thinking "what's the correlation of the last page to the previous two?
Well, let the Spanish translation of the book answer that for you, translations provided by yours truly, through DeepL. Everybody say thank you to the internet Archive for the non-English copies to fuel my hyperfixations, and thank you to DeepL for lighting that fuel on fire for me to read properly in English
Tumblr media
In Praise of Fantasy
I read the book in one sitting and concluded, "So ends this adventure, but remember... the beginning of each new story is a Gateway to the Realm of Fantasy!"
"Uncle, what's the difference between magic and fantasy?" asked Benjamin?
I hugged him warmly. "MAGIC is when you use a power to change reality. But it's only an illusion; it's not enough with a touch of a magic wand to transform things you don't want to accept! Fantasy, on the other hand, is the ability to look at reality with different eyes and find that which others do not know how to see: Harmony where there is Disharmony, Good where Evil seems to triumph, Light where Darkness seems to prevail!"
I stretched out my arms, as if to take flight. "The wings of Fantasy are important to fly high, higher and higher. Each one must have the courage to take flight. Talk about your dreams and your ideals with the people you love, you will discover that together you can make beautiful dreams come true, like a better world, full of love and peace for everyone!
All dreams that come from the heart have wings!
I've heard from a friend that the Chinese translation of the book has the same speech and ueueueuEUEUEUEUEUE

Nameless Prince Aesthetic 🌑
Tumblr media
Here is a moodboard for the "Nameless Prince/Prince Without a Name" from Elizabetta Dami's "Princesses of the Kingdom of Fantasy" series.
I also believe he has the potential to have a book of his own, describing his perspectives. He was a powerful character, so it is well-deserved for him to have his own stories. None of the images belong to me.

Seven Silly Questions
This was an open tag I saw and I wanted to do it too!
Tagging: @thegoddesswater @mrmissmrsrandom @did-i-do-this-write @almedha and also leaving it open tag :3
First messaging app: AIM, I think. They weren't called apps back then lmao
Pickles yes or no: YES
Favorite mythical creature: gryphon (everyone act surprised)
Longest book series you’ve read: depending on how you're counting a series it's either Valdemar (most books set in a single universe) or, I think, Principesse del regno della fantasia for the most actual continuous, chronological books in a series (13 with 3 sequels, although there are a number of other series set in the same universe that I've also read, but still not as much as Valdemar)
Redwall kind of sits in the middle of those two
Playstation, xbox, or nintendo controller layout: the best videogame controller was the GameCube and I stand by that (in fact it's still my favorite system overall, and I stand by that)
Best time to get out of bed: I'm generally up at around 5:45 on weekdays and 6:30 on the weekends
Did you ever have a tamagotchi: yes, I don't remember being very good at it
