okay so. in the newest Imp & Skizz podcast ep (the one about the Life Series, for those who find this later), Skizz talks about the concept of the boogeyman. specifically, he talked about a really interesting Reddit post he saw, framing him as sort of the creator or the source of the boogeyman curse.

(if the op of that Reddit post should happen to find this, I apologize if I'm just reiterating things you've already said.)

so, according to that post (or at least Skizz's summary of it), the boogeyman actually starts back in 3rd Life, when Skizz charged the Crastle out of sheer bloodlust and permadied in a 2v1 against Impulse and Grian. that kinda lines up with Martyn's lore, which I'll get to in a second.

this theory of Skizz being the source of the boogeyman curse continues throughout the rest of the seasons; he was in Last Life and Limited Life, both of which had boogeymen, but he was not in Double Life, which did not have the boogeyman mechanic. plus, Skizz has never actually been the boogeyman. he said it was kinda like a transfer of energy; he can't be the boogeyman because he created it.

this is where Martyn's lore comes into play.

the boogeyman curse, according to Martyn, was created as a means for the Watchers to feed on even more trauma and negative energy than they already were. and Skizz - he's a positive presence. he's a sweetheart. he's kind, he's a leader; hell, he took the time to compliment every single person on the server during Limited Life. of course he can't be the boogeyman. there's no negative energy to feed off of.

now hear me out: that's because the Watchers are spreading it to everyone else.

maybe Skizz's energy is too concentrated, or maybe there's something else about it that the Watchers don't like. they can't work with Skizz's negative energy the way that it is, so they spread it out to the other Players in the form of the boogeyman curse.

I'm not sure where I was going with this, I just haven't seen anyone talking about the theory of Skizz being the source of the boogeyman curse.

Ah fable, the most hated man on fable smp

#actually thinking about the fact fables named after him #thinking about how he was the start to all it- the war. which spawned icarus rae and athena- also momboo and jamie and so many others #becuase of fables actions so many people are around. but also so many are fundementally changed #ari lost her mom and her home to his hand and spent the time after that under the hand of.. her 'dad' #he was the ome to start the war. start it all #and i could go on and on. souls curse. the who killed alerion mystery. the who took isla. #fablesmp was so heavily about living in a post war world (though technically it never ended. just paused) and about picking up the peices #learning your history #learning the moral. all the facts #and fable cuased so many of the actions and problems. caspian was born in group hiding from him!!! and enderian was only suspicious of- #caspian becuase of the overworlda actions in general. caspian couldve been spared. #and then fable makimg the deal with perix. #and then he got out of purgatory and the war resumed #Fable /neg but oh is it cool thinking about all of the questioms we had at the start. and seeimg all of the red strings connect to him #becuase it is after all. fable smp #fable smp

its me. theres limited life spoilers here so like, if thats not your gig, now you know. did you guys see. that in this session, session 3, both Impulse and Skizz independently decided that they needed to give their allies items that would help them survive? So they both did a lot of personal hard work to make sure that the people they trust the most would always have these items on them in case of danger? and. and the items are Ender Pearls and Golden Apples? Items that both of them have history with? For Impulse and Ender Pearls... Remember the Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber that saved and failed Impulse many times in 3rd Life? Remember Impulse Ender Pearling to Bdubs, to his demise, in 3rd Life? Remember Impulse having the option to save himself from falling off the Ghast Farm with Ender Pearls but dying because he focused too hard on the boat trick in Last Life? Remember Impulse designing an escape route for him and Bdubs if they ever needed it, one that required Ender Pearls to fully complete, in Double Life? For Skizzleman and Golden Apples... (well, shoutout to this post by @aquelondungeonmaster about Skizz and Golden Apples because HOLY SHIT IT MAKES ME EAT DIRT AND WALLS!!!!) Remember Skizz being given a Golden Apple by Ren for some leather, and in a way solidifying Skizz’s loyalty in 3rd Life? Remember Skizz giving out Golden Apples to the Red Army before rushing to his own death in 3rd Life? Remember Skizz trying but failing to save himself from getting killed by eating a Golden Apple in Last Life? Remember Skizz not being in Double Life, the only series that had to ban Golden Apples because they would break things? What I’m saying is, there’s history here. History of these two with these specific items either saving or failing to save them in the previous series...and not only that, they’re kinda symbolic of how these two treat conflict. Skizz gives his allies, the people he loves and cares for, Golden Apples. Something to help them face conflict, something that will make them stronger then before. Impulse gives his allies, the people he loves and cares for, Ender Pearls, something to help them escape conflict and live another day. Isn’t it just awfully symbolic of them? For both of them to give out items to help their allies that lines up with how they treat conflicts, while also having a lot of history with these items specifically? how the FUCK isn’t the life series scrippted WHAT ARE THESE CONNECTIONNNNS????? OMG HELLO CHERNY THE BELOVED!!! omg….i’ve already rambled about fallen angel ash and red in the discord so ^_^ gonna be talking about my thoughts abt lifesteal and embroidery!!

basically, i hc that although every single ls member can sew, but more complex stuff like pattern making (or doing anything that isn’t basic hand sewing for basic repairs LOL) varies wildly between each member. as a result, embroidery on clothing and patches would be a huge sign of dedication and loyalty because t shows that you took time out of your day to make something for the other person, and that usually means you’ll do other things for them as well ^_^ like. cool sign of loyalty that u can show off visually. so its fun to hc what alliances have what patches and who made them!!

anyways because i’m #biased i also hc that the more hearts and resources you have, the more time you have to dedicate to things that aren’t resources or getting hearts ^_^ so id imagine the brim of reds hat is full of embroidery from himself (and there’s a purple rose that’s noticeably out of style in comparison to the rest of the hat, but red doesnt draw much attention to it. usually)

As much as I like the red string of fate, I want to see more overly trope-y soulmate bonds on everyone. What I’m trying to say is that Martyn has a blob over his eye and Cleo has a matching one on her fist because their first contact was her punching him.

Jimmy and Tango were colorblind until they saw each other at spawn and Tango constantly stares at Jimmy’s bright yellow wings with awe. Jimmy compliments Tango’s eyes at least a gajillion times a day. Ren and BigB are constantly checking in on each other through little messages scrawled on their arms (BigB is getting very good at deciphering Ren’s chicken scratch)

Impulse and Bdubs both wear their wedding bands (watches!) on their wrists above each other’s first words to each other

Etho and Joel poke fun at each other’s glowing symbol of a “stupid triangle” (It’s called a kunai, Joel) and a “sad puppy” (”How dare you! It’s a wolf, can’t you see?!)

Grian looks at Scar’s name with exhaustion and dread the first time he sees it. Scar has had coal smudged over Grian’s name by accident this whole time.

That being said, Scott and Pearl actually do have a red string of fate, but Scott has since cut it and tied his end around Cleo’s arm instead. Pearl’s frayed end still tries to point in Scott’s direction sometimes
