This left me in tears!!! <3 We need more parents that love their kids for who they are, having their backs in exploring and learning who they are, rather than keeping them scared, in a box of conformity. Your kids already seek comfort by appeasing others, give them one less person that makes them feel they have to play a part.
Let your kid be themselves now so they don't have to cope with the trauma of you not, later. PLEASE!!!!
We can't change who we are, or what makes us happy, as a parent it's your job to want what's best for them. Support them, THE ACTUALY PERSON THEY ARE, not a cardboard cutout of a concept. Your child isn't your character to play a role in your perfect version of what you'd like them to be, they're a human with thoughts, feelings, and experiences separate from yours. LOVE THEM THROUGH THOSE.

so i just found out about this thing called gender apathy. the term was coined in 2015 and it's when you don't care what gender people perceive you as. you're indifferent to gender and how it applies to you.
and yeah, that's pretty much me :)

Boy moms are something else.
I get that moms will always see their children as their "babies." That's completely fair and to be expected.
What I'm a little less comfortable with is when your fifteen-year-old son who's over six feet tall is somebody you consider "too young" to stay home by himself.
My parents would toss the phone at me (landlines back then), make sure I knew where the guns were in case there was an intruder, tell me there was enough food to cook whatever, and say "have fun" when I was eight.

i kind of love being a woman, or even better, a person who happens to be a woman. i love being unshaven, i love having unkempt short hair, i love being nerdy and into physics and mathematics and political history and punk music, i love swearing like a sailor, i love not having to eternally worry about other people's perception of me, i love being mistaken for a boy and correcting people with a smile, i love little kids who give me the chance to explain to them that i'm still a girl even though i look like a boy, i love being confident enough to speak up against unnoticed, subtle misogynistic comments and not cower back when people jokingly ask me if i'm a feminist, i love being here to study and learn and exist as a person that doesn't have to conform to restrictive gender roles
