Good god, every time I rewatch "Fear No Mort" (s7e10) I see another layer of something to realize.

I get that Rick was in the hole with Morty in order for him to realize his fear in due time- but I also think it was kind of to showcase Morty's perception of Rick at that moment. (Kinda like memory Rick from Bird Person's mind- but instead it's Morty's version.)

Like- Rick never aged, even in the sequence where Morty grew up to look like Jerry. Morty's perception of Rick is to be unchanging and reliably there, and the fact that Morty's biggest fear WAS Rick not being there, was honestly so fucking shook inducing.

I mostly wanted to talk about how Morty's perception of Rick was really.. innacurate. Like s2e1 "A Rickle In Time," Rick literally DOES jump into a hole for Morty. Sure, Rick is a little bit sewerslidal on his own- but he did it for Morty. And that was BEFORE he's had so much character development. I genuinely think Rick is even more willing to jump in after Morty.. So Morty being afraid that Rick wouldn't even do that- it's kinda heartbreaking..

I could seriously talk about this episode in depth for hours- but god, it's such a good one. Wanted to ramble a bit about it.

hey remember when we all imagined evil morty to be like. rick's original morty who snapped and got abandoned by him and was on a long elaborate quest for revenge. and then it turned out that he had nothing to do with c-137 and was actually just broken by the systemic evil of the citadel factory farming mortys to use and force into the toxic r&m dynamic we're familiar with, to the point where he was willing to stoop to any low just to smash it all and fuck off?

actually no, surprise, i have MORE thoughts bc i still have not stopped thinking about this episode

i think there's something to be said about the fact that Rick Prime lost...because he underestimated a Morty. like. OUR Rick was basically dead, he lost. Evil Morty was the reason Rick Prime lost

Also is it just me...or did Rick Prime seem afraid of Evil Morty once Evil Morty had him tied up? He was bargaining with him. Offering him a role as his sidekick because he was rapidly realizing he couldn't wiggle out of this (while still offering him a role as a 'sidekick', not an equal--feels like him scrambling to keep up the facade that he's still in control)

And honestly...Rick Prime kinda felt like he was a little afraid of our Rick too? Once he was tied down and helpless...idk maybe I'm reading too much into it but I heard a quiver in his voice when he says "Buddy, nip this in the bud!", he was desperately trying to get Rick to abandon his goal of killing him to go after Evil Morty instead. trying to posit Evil Morty as the bigger threat here

Like he tries to goad both Evil Morty and our Rick, and I swear I hear a tremor of fear in his voice when he realizes, both times, that they're not responding to it and it's not working

Not me rewatching Unmortricken (s7e5) again. Bro, I am so mad at how much I like Prime Rick. I mean- he's such an asshole and I hate him. But his tech is insane! His asshole quips, and shit eating grin as he confidently tells you the meanest shit imaginable- I love that man and hate him so damn much, lmao.

I also wanna take a moment to appreciate Evil Morty like sm. Like- he's pretty uncaring and cold in order to get what he wants, but he's actually so cool. Like he didn't NEED to rez Rick at the end of the fight, he chose to as an act of good faith between them. Despite participating in the fight for his own purposes- he could have just as easily killed Rick Prime and scanned his dying brain for the schematics- but he didn't. He left him alive and even placed our Rick in front of him like a present. Man- Evil Morty is the fuckin goat, I really hope we see more of him in s8.

I'm so fuckin proud of Rick though. Like- I know what he did wasn't really in the grand scheme of things, like a good thing to do? Or even like a helpful thing. Cause I mean Rick Prime was so many Rick's main motivation. Imagine hearing another Rick got to him before you? Like i'd deadass jump off of something high- like that's fucked.

But Rick worked toward this his whole life, and he finally did it. No, he's not the good guy- but i'm so fucking proud of him for doing it. Sure, life doesn't get better now that he's dead- but at least now he lives in a life where nothing changes AND that fucker is dead. I'm just proud, is all. Rick deserves happiness. I really hope he finds it somehow.

And now to turn around and say... Despite me wanting the best for Rick- I did see theories (reposted it I think) of people thinking Rick Prime somehow connected himself to C137's psyche or some shit, and our Rick keeps seeing him everywhere because of it. (Like he's being haunted.)

As horrible and heartbreaking as that storyline probably would be, dear god, I want that kind of angst. I'm honestly kinda sad Rick Prime is gone, man- I want him more involved in the storyline! I mean- memory Rick is still up there somehow? Maybe Rick Prime and Memory Rick can duke it out? Lol. Idk, it just seems like while Rick Prime has been, like, the villain all along- but we only really got to see him more in depth in s6 and 7. I want more! It seems too soon for him to be gone just like that- but Ig life do b like that. Maybe they're just going for realism. (Which I can respect that, honestly, just give Rick the happiness he deserves, don't listen to me. ToT)

There's my thoughts though, kinda just wanted to brain rot about the episode for a bit~
