hi I forgot that the blog I was rbing that from was a blog I followed for bloodborne stuff LMAO

okay so. this is heavily inspired by

Me being an anthropology student (who got into it because Cynthia pokemon is an archaeologist and I adore her, I took one (1) class and then got really invested, the important thing is. Archaeology go brr)

Me taking a very interesting class this semester that focuses on paleopathology, which is as my professor put it "the study of ancient suffering" but realistically is figuring out whatever you can from human remains. Whereas archaeology as a whole is about human culture from material remains, which can be actual bodies but can also be other things like pottery and building foundations.

Me teetering on the brink of being way too into Bloodborne for my own good despite not normally being much of a horror fan or a fan of particularly grimdark things. I Don't Know What's Different About Bloodborne. (it's probably that I'm a lesbian and I like lady maria, sue me)

Anyway. I got to thinking one time after class. That archaeologists would be SO FUCKING CONFUSED BY YHARNAM.

I'm tentatively placing Bloodborne as somewhere in the nineteenth century based on general vibes (according to my dad and his deep passion for weaponry of all kinds, a lot of the things in the game would have been derived later, but tbh if I lived in a place that constantly had to deal with people turning into horrifying beasts I think I'd innovate the hell out of things to get better weaponry so I didn't die too) and this theoretical au would be set in the modern day. so it's been a Hot Minute since the game ended and I think I was considering Yharnam Sunrise as the ending for. Reasons.

There's this group of researchers who end up heading to Yharnam, bankrolled by some rich heir or something who's got more money than sense (he dies or possibly turns into a beast from stupidity very early on) and possibly they're the last in a bunch of groups who went there and died because even hundreds of years after the horrors there are still So Many Ways For It To Go Badly? Undecided on that front, I'm still trying to figure out what (if anything) would actually be preserved.

Highlights of my vague plans:

The team finds Gilbert's journal. They all get really attached to Gilbert because that just kind of tends to happen. Which is unfortunate because they know damn well he probably didn't survive very long after the last page in his diary, but they didn't find a body, so...?

It takes a while for them to realize that the very canine skeletons have human DNA. At which point everyone is just. Very fucking confused. And also are realizing that maybe all those writings about the beast plague weren't actually about rabies (which does not leave a trace on the skeleton, fun fact! I wanted to do my project on rabies but I had to pick a pathology that had an effect on the skeleton. Alas)

There are so many arguments over who that grave behind the Hunter's Workshop belongs to. SO MANY. (I personally think it's very likely that is Maria's, but the team won't have any way of knowing that! If the headstone is unreadable by game times it's not gonna be any more readable centuries later!)

You determine whether something is bone by licking it. Someone finds an Amygdala skull and somehow, through the sort of stupidity that only happens in horror movies before people realize they're in horror movies, someone gets dared to lick it. This results in a very horrified Insight increase and the revelation that the weird fucking thing is made of bone. Also, that Amygdala's ghost is interested in the team now. Oops. This probably will go fine, right...?

What the FUCK are they going to think of all the statues of Great Ones. Probably (reasonably) that they are statues portraying something with great cultural significance to Yharnam, and possibly religious significance. Less reasonable is the fact that Great Ones... actually exist... and that SOMEONE is going to get enough Insight by the end to see those Amygdalas. Possibly the whole team tbh.

There is going to be so much arguing over how the fuck to cite shit. How do you cite some guy who supposedly disappeared centuries ago and is still hanging around in another dimension that you honestly aren't sure how to leave But You'll Worry About That Later, The First Hunter Is A Primary Source!!! How do you cite a ghost. How do you cite hallucinations and visions.

Possibly the Doll sneaks onto the team by pretending to be a survivor of a previous expedition, because tbh I think the Moon Presence can do what it wants and I think it would be VERY interested in these new bitches rocking up to Yharnam after a while. And, y'know, that goes fine until someone finds a picture of her. Or of Lady Maria. (Or until they reach the Abandoned Old Workshop, depending on the situation and if there's another version of said doll there to be found.)

Every. Single. Member. Of the team. Has some connection to Yharnam. Almost none of them know this originally. They will find out. Rip to Rom the Vacuous Spider's great-great-grandniece who discovers the hard way (finding Byrgenwerth's paperwork) why she was the first in her family to graduate uni, just not the first to attend it.

(Notable exception to this rule is the person who is convinced that his great-great-great-probably a few more in there-grandmother is Lady Maria. This gets very funny when the descendant of the player Hunter trips into the Hunter's Nightmare, which still exists due to said player Hunter poking their head in and wisely dipping immediately, and who manages to prevent a bossfight by blurting out "oh shit you're Jerry's great-grandma!")

(There may be lesbianisms involved. And some light necromancy. Idk I like Lady Maria a lot and I got enabled too damn much and I think it would be very funny for the group to return to civilization with an extra person. Or two.)

In summary, I have no plot (yet) apart from archaeology and being way too invested in the game, but I really want to write this someday once I actually finish said game. And also I'm having a grand old time coming up with characters to put through the Horrors. The archaeologist is named Cynthia Parker and. Well. If you remember the superhero identity of a certain character called Peter Parker, you might be able to figure out who she's distantly related to.

Other ideas include: player Hunter descendant, someone very distantly descended from a Cainhurst exile, and Jerry who is 100% certain his great-several-times-great-grandmother is Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower and is 100% wrong about that. Jerry is the single party member with no actual connection to Yharnam and we love him for it.

Extended explanation (warning: long)

I will pretty much rb most fanart I find something I like about or looks nice irregardless of the ship or intention of the artist (whether it is ship art or not). I also don't care about a lot of ships (more in a "yeah sure whatever floats your boat" or "that could be fun, sure" type of way), or have such a casual attitude towards them it doesn't matter to me.

For fic, if the tags match up with what I like or think would be interesting, don't include any of my hard no's, and the summary catches my attention I will read whatever if I feel like it. Though for mutuals or ppl I talk to sometimes I have tried to read things that I wouldn't usually, sometimes it has been a happy surprise, other times I can't really get into it or there is something about it I just can't fuck with even though their writing is good. With art it matters even less though.

I have also been "sold" on ships by other people through fic and art as well. Because I will consider *mostly* anything, at least for a moment.

I decided early on to not tag ships. This is for multiple reasons.

1. My tagging system is detailed and organized but tagging ships makes it more complicated.

2. I would have to determine if the art was intended to be ship art or not before tagging just because of how I am. This is an extra step which gets more complicated if I am rbing from someone else because it means I have to click through every time to see the OPs original tags assuming they exist.

3. I never have the desire to search my own blog by ship. Only by character.

There are bsd ships that don't exist to me, ones I don't like, and there are bsd ships I am completely indifferent to/don't get it. I'm not going to list everything, I don't know every pairing that exists, I am surely forgetting things, and you didn't ask for specifics. So I will keep this part shorter than I could but me not listing something doesn't mean I like it or actively ship it. It just might fall into the "doesn't exist to me" or "have never thought about/don't really give a shit/forgot it existed even" category.

Any ship involving underage characters (or underage versions of characters who are presently adults) do not exist to me. As in, I'm pretending it doesn't happen for my own peace, and if I have the misfortune of seeing it I block with the quickness.

I don't like Morizai or Dazaku (in any interation including Beast version).

I am not okay with Fukuran at all.

I am not a fan/don't understand Kunichuu or Kunichuuzai or Kunichuuwhatever Kunikida and Chuuya polyship of the hour is.

I'm really mid on Kousano though I will rb art of them because I am always happy to see art for bsd women. Would probably never read fic with them though specifically/intentionally as I don't understand the pairing much.

Odazai is not something I ship but when he dies he is 23 and Dazai is 18 so I don't understand ppl who give others serious flack for shipping them in dark era (when Dazai is an adult though), or shipping Beast Odazai or AUs where Oda lives and they are both adults.

I mention this because this one I have seen just get thrown around a lot with a bunch of moral outrage with it, and I personally don't get it.

everyday i wake up. i find a mutual in law whos blocked me. like whyyy i dont even do anything on this website. some ex muts too like what. i feel like i have very little internet presence outside of talking to specific internet friends on like. discord like what do i do on TUMBLR that makes ppl want to hardblock me. i swear i was blocked less by mutual in laws on my old account where home.stuck was one of my top tags (im an ex hs fan for context i do not support it and actively hate it) like ??? i KNOW im overthinking this its literally tumblr who cares and i laugh abt it a lot but idk it bothers me like im not fixated on it pleeease dont think im that terminally online or anything i think im just mental illness 👍

SIX MONTHS!!! six months to the DAY since i started writing this absolute hot mess of a lady. since then so much has happened - i’ve made so many new friends, and my life has changed in so many ways, most of them for the better. the community around this show is small but mighty and absolutely all thanks to @doctorobinson, bc without her i don’t think more than half of us would have ever seen it?? like. raise ur hand if it was stella who talked u into it. yeah. i see u.

writing smith comes with its challenges, but i think my favorite part about it is the evolution of her identity. i love nothing more than a sympathetic villain with a redemption arc but it goes beyond that even, into the territory of complete reinvention. the way she thinks of herself/presents herself changes completely over the course of the show and the way it’s coded (in both dialogue and occasionally costuming) makes me, a genderqueer mun, really happy. if you’ve been around for awhile u know i quietly hc her as genderqueer too. i just... really connect to this character, even if i think she’s a nasty little gremlin for like,, MOST of canon. especially then. i too am a nasty little gremlin. it is what it is.

anyway, here’s the “party” part. i want to celebrate those of you i’ve been writing with for awhile! those that have done intricate plotting with me, or that have developed a relationship between our muses through a bunch of threads since june. if you think that applies to you, feel free to comment and i’ll chuck her in your inbox with a little something that commemorates that relationship!

So I’ve been RBing my posts without really elaborating on what I need money for so oops--

Basically, I need ~$100.00, because I desperately need a state ID, money for a lyft to go food shopping because I made a WHOLE BUNCH of food that I can’t eat/will probably have to get tossed (I have food stamps but getting to and from the store is still painful, though I might be getting a resolution for this issue soon. though not soon enough for my next shopping trip), and less importantly, I kind of really need a haircut? hey i missed the actual rbing of the post whoops! But please. tell me how bluebell would destroy me even more if given Boss mechanics. ALSO I'd like to ask for vale - pre/during/post icebrood saga is up to you!

rubs my gay lil hands, this is gonna be SO LONG im SO SORRY under a readmore it goes

to be able to tank bluebell, it'll be focus based on who's doing the most damage, not toughness or random. she will go after who's hurting her the most, and try and stun lock them. if you spend more than say like 30 seconds Not attacking her, she regens her health faster than normal, not like when an enemy is out of a fight/range and goes to full health, just a lil faster to make you go "oh shit shit shit" and attack her again.

so for bluebell, she'd probably have like 2-3 phases. the first phase would mostly be like fighting her in game (like as player vs player, game restrictions) except she has a beefy defiance bar you need to break to get her to go into phase 2. for her attacks, in phase 1 its like a regular spellbreaker, she uses the two daggers, and a longbow (the long bow is already on blue fire). she doesnt use the typical pvp spellbreaker stuff (winds of disenchantment, magebane tether) but stuff to stun you and keep you focused on her (this is more relevant in phase 3) she doesnt hit super hard (yet) but if get targeted by her, and shes able to stun lock you, say goodbye to your kneecaps

phase 2 is when she breaks out her god powers! and she's fucking AWFUL to fight. basically you Have to break her defiance bar every time to do any real damage (to bypass toughness and her health regen) and the defiance bar comes back Quick. its not as beefy as her first bar, but you gotta rapidly break it a bunch of times. so youll have to space out your cc or (if this is a strike/raid maybe) have specific people go in an order. for phase 2 attacks! she starts incorporating her fire abilities, and she has wings where she can basically do the wings of resolve/dragonhunter f2 skill to jump around the arena, and do a big fire blast aoe, like warden amala does. this isnt a move used often, but it's the most powerful during this phase. she'll start inflicting burning with her attacks that'll need to be condi cleansed off, or Perish. when shes down to like 15%, she'll pick a random target (one thats not the tank) and kneels down to fire a big line aoe down the middle of the arena, to separate the squad. this leads into phase 3!

in phase 3, is when vlast comes into play! bluebell is now also completely in her god form but she doesnt have a defiance bar anymore, and vlast is reflecting (ha) that. on one side of the arena, the team will be fighting bluebell, and on the other vlast. the thing is that bluebell and vlast will coordinate attacks to hit both sides at the same side, or switch sides. when that happens there will be green aoes people will HAVE to stand in, or take massive burning damage. being in the stack also gives a slight boost to damage. and each time you do the mechanic, the stack goes up by 1, up to 5 times for a total increase of 25% damage.

not going down w/o a fight, if you kill either bluebell or vlast before the other, they will go into berserker mode. bluebell literally changing into that elite class instead of spellbreaker, and vlast doing it out of rage. at this point, you take constant burning damage, and it will kill you unless youre together with your healers.

if you do manage to kill them within 15 seconds of each other, then theyll accept defeat and honor those who defeated them, and give you a permanent buff for the raid wing for that week (everyone getting increased vitality/health)

if they kill you, youll get voice lines like, "if only you were better equipped." "im the god of truth and justice, this was always the course it was meant to be" "dont take it to heart, theres always next time" "my champion is strong, and i as her scion, only make her stronger." "i will not die so helplessly this time" she doesnt actually kill those who enter her arena, so you wouldnt need to worry about that :p

VALE:

so for vale, i actually think it would be rly cool if his was also a 3 phase fight, but like you said! pre icebrood/during/post

so phase 1 would be vale as his most "normal" self. mostly warrior attacks, and using a giant greatsword agasint the squad. he would be like a normal toughness based tanking, so going after whoever has the most toughness! he uses shouts, and likes to stand still a lot to do Massive damage in a sweep. you only have to get his health down to 75% for phase 2 to activate, but as youre doing that, he starts to get icy!

once 75% hits, he explodes in icy, knocking back the squad, and getting bigger. hes now in champion form, and hurts a HELL of a lot more. unlike ryl/and, he can weave his own ice spells, and will turn a random person into an icicle, and then kick them into the squad/another random person. this stuns both of you, and Hurts a lot. he will then charge at them, but once that is done, he goes back to toughness tank. he mostly does chill damage, so you better have condi cleanse or Else. he also fights more like a greatsword reaper, than a warrior. hovering in place before a big attack, or kneeling down to make the floor Slippery for a minute or two. this is also when he gets a defiance bar, since he's harder to kill, you need that break to do better damage.

once you get him down to 25% however, the ice melts off him, and he kneels down invulnerable for a few seconds, breathing heavily as he becomes smaller again, but still bigger than his 1st phase. and screams at the squad, inflicting fear on a platform that also melted and you can fall off the edge if not careful. he loses his defiance bar here too.

while he isnt dealing as much damage, the floor is now permanently frozen over, and if you dont stand still, youll probably fall off the edge of the arena. vale doesnt do that kick move anymore, but he will do that fear shout, and try and drive you off. if you kill him, he'll say along the lines of "im sorry, almorra, i tried." "ember....if only i saw ember one last time...." "tell bangar, damn him to the mists" "but, banni...moss..."

sorry if you've talked about this already but I was hoping you could help advise me what to do as a white person when I see whitewashed fanart? like what happened was I told the person their art was whitewashed and they should fix it and their response was basically "I'm sorry thanks for pointing it out!" with a bunch of excuses. like idk what I can do in this situation now to help get the art fixed.

Please continue pointing out whitewashed fanart, because POC should not have to do it alone. In fact personally at least, I’m glad to hear you are doing it.

Now, a problem with tumblr is that if you revise a post, (such as replacing an image with an updated image) if the post is already circulated with the old image, it will keep doing so. But you can prevent more people from RBing your whitewashed art by replacing it, and adding a note yourself that you’ve changed it. And in the future, not repeat this. That is what the artist should do.If they are simply saying “sorry, thanks for pointing it out” but not doing anything about it means jack shit.

My advice would be, after all of what they said, ask them “So are you going to fix it, then?” They will probably either block you or hopefully, actually do it.
