📹 Scenes of thousands of protesters hitting the streets of San Francisco in the U.S. to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people under blockade, siege and bombardment in the Gaza Strip.

More than 31'553 Palestinian civilians have been killed as a result of Israel's ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, more than 25'000 of which are assessed to be women and children according to the United States Pentagon, with an additional 73'546 Palestinians wounded since the beginning of the current round of Israeli aggression beginning on October 7th, 2023.

Baladicenter, a continuation of Baladi Dance Group, was established in 1991 in Beit Jala, Palestine. Founded by a group of promising young people, with a mission to preserve and pass down their rich Palestinian heritage through generations, consolidating and strengthening the Palestinian identity. The group emerged in response to the occupation authorities' attempts to deny and erase the ancient roots and heritage of the Palestinian people.

The dance is interspersed with footage of the Great March of Return where young men danced a Dabke circle under gunfire and tear gas from the Occupation Forces, and the civilian defiance of First Intifada, whose 36th anniversary was commemorated on December 8th.

Anyone else think that this is getting ridiculous? They rather throw their own population into prison than admit that they are guilty of aiding a genocide of a native people? The people of what is now Palestine fought for the allies during WW1 for freedom from the Ottoman Empire, with the promise of a homeland.

Instead, they got stabbed in the back at Versailles and were colonised by the Brits for 30 years.

Fought for and then were betrayed by the British Empire. But them calling for the end of a war…on the day commemorating the end of a war (that they helped win, and were then betrayed after) is “inappropriate”?

I'm so furious right now at what's happening at college campus at Columbia and city college and I have to wake up early tomorrow. How can i sleep with how furious i am. Words can't articulate just how much hate and anger i am harboring right now. I wish I could read something or play my game but I have to focus on writing an essay i have no care for.

If anything, It solidity my hate for Zionists and Israel that god themself can't remove from my soul... and I'm an atheist. It's just so hilarious comical that the democratic party keeps harping about 'vote for us to save democracy' while at the same time sending militarize police to brutalize and suppress freedom of speech and protest in the schools they paid for. Fascism is already here, both political parties are all down for it. What brilliant liars they are. Malcolm X was right about them. From a tweet quoting Josh Paul, former Director, US Department of State (resigned in protest): "This generation of youth have spent their entire lives in fear of having guns pointed at them in schools; what a disgrace for America that is now their own schools that are pointing the guns at them." I will never vote for a democrat for as long as i live. I swear my life on that. Joe Biden and the party can go fuck themselves.

Some more info on how VCU action has been going before it got to this point.

There is a weekly vigil for Palestine that is very small scale, but the university tears it down every morning.

A few times a week, students come together to write chalk messages on the sidewalks in accordance with VCU policy (no writing on brick, only concrete; no writing under overhangs). This is not super uncommon - I've seen chalk writing pop up every so often since I got here. The old messages would stay until they faded out; the pro-Palestine ones are washed at 8am the morning after they are written.

Messages written on brick, or that do not display appropriate messages, are washed off with a water bottle as soon as organisers are aware of them.

Other protesters at this location, such as anti-abortion protectors earlier this year, had been given police protection. There is a man who stands at the VCU compass every day with signs telling us we are going to hell that has been there typically daily for years (some pause during lockdown) with no consequence.

The university has put out a few statements so far, one claiming that protestors sprayed police with a chemical agent prior to the conflict. This is not true.
