2023.8.3 Singular-Plural

Just realized that this year marks my 10th year teaching basic English grammar. It feels nostalgic and humbling to look back and see how far I have come.

I still remember my first few classes where I had zero confidence of doing. The fact that I had no teaching degree and a very short experience of teaching university students about news writing and editing do not make me qualified for the job. Despite all these, it is only by God’s grace and mercy that I passed the training period in just a week and was immediately put to nesting. From basic grammar to business English advancing to TOEIC AND TOEFL and had a taste of teaching IELTS. All these in a little more than a year and got promoted to become an Assistant Team Leader to becoming the Team Leader in 3 months of being an assistant and finishing as a Trainer in less than 2 months. Transferred to a different company which eventually lead me to coming to Japan to teach TOEIC, JET and EIKEN.

In coming 8years living in the Land of the Rising Sun, I am still a teacher. Not just an English Teacher but a second mom to kindergarteners. It has been a wild ride so far and life does get a lot sweeter when leaving everything to the Man who has orchestrated everything from the beginning.

All I can remember is praying for a job that will allow me to honor and glorify God’s name and I am living it now. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the life we are living now used to be the prayers we pray for long time ago.

God truly answers prayers, in His time.

All glory and honor belongs to God, Jesus Christ!

I’m learning different ways to pray. I wasn’t taught about God or religion or how to have a relationship with Jesus so this is all a learning experience. I have always sent up wishes and desires to God, but never praised him, asked for forgiveness or surrendered to him. Now I use the P R A Y method so I remember to cover all the bases!!! P- Praise God and tell him how wonderful he is. The Lord has been so gracious to us, His children, for He has given us the privilege to communicate with Him in prayer. How wonderful it is knowing that Lord Himself instructed us to commune with Him where in we we can address all our human needs and for Him to respond in imaginable ways that will perfectly illuminate His sovereignty. But allow me to share a couple of questions heavily directed on my attitude after the Lord has answered ‘yes’ to my supplications. Let me start with, ‘Do I remember that one prayer I asked the Lord?’ Do I remember that I even knelt for it and begged God to grant it in particular? Have I been really thankful when He gave it to me? Have I been responsible enough after claiming it as mine? Where did this gift has taken me so far? Am I able to share this blessing with others around me? Is God pleased seeing me taking hold of the prayer He granted me with? Have I stopped praying for it now that I have it? You see, most of the time, it’s more natural for a person to ask than to be thankful afterwards. Also, humanly speaking, being thankful is relative to what the answer would be. That is why I see it very crucial to look back on how I pleaded for something in prayer. This event gives me more the heart to appreciate and to heedfully keep the things which I have asked for. And so this formulates the final and the most salient question that comes in mind— did I really pray for it? If I know that I have been showered with wisdom to ask for the right things then each moment having them now in my hands should never be wasted. And I on the other hand, should never be seen ungrateful in all angles of life. Hence, God’s word reminds us not just to keep praying until He answers, but also to cease not praying even after that. #praying #prayer #thepowerofpraying #prayerful #theprayingchristian
