I honestly wouldn't mind them just being friends! but for me it would be disappointing if they go that route because of the amount of scenes with romantic undercurrents this season. if they end up being friends only it would make a lot of their interactions so... baity? like why are they having a hushed convo under a table in a beautifully blocked scene about their fears and how much they mean to each other about opening up a goddamn new restaurant??? why is he more calmed by sydney during a panic attack than the woman he supposedly loves??? those are crazy intentional choices, especially for a team who did not like the romantic aspect people were reading into the ship. not that feelings can't change but whoa

lmaooo veryyyy tru which is why i don't understand some ppl on twitter who are getting mad at shippers bc like it's one thing to not ship them or want them to only stay as friends, but to say like 'oh ppl want to make everything romantic' as if the writers aren't purposefully writing it that way or as if shippers are just making shit up like??? Those scenes are very romance coded and emotionally charged and coming from someone who before s2 only saw them as platonic, it was hard for me to watch those scenes and not ship them. But at the same time i feel like they're just implicit enough to where if the writers decided to keep them as friends, those scenes could still work within a platonic context (if you turn your head and squint and rationalize the hell out of it but still). Like truly this is a deciding point for the writers, either they go all in or they dial it back. Bc I don't think this kind of ambiguity would fly with the viewers in the next season.

I completely agree with one of the last posts. I’m only really ‘in the fandom’ if you will on here. Instagram, Twitter, tik tok honestly all are yucky to me. The way so many of his fans speak to him like they’re best friends and know him IRL is…bizarre to say the least. I watch a lot of other YouTubers but S&C’s fans (especially with Colby) have extremely strong parasocial relationships. I think you mentioned it in another post about how fans literally think they have a chance with him….like sorry but bffr. Listen, have I also convinced myself that Colby would fall in love with me if he met me? Obviously, but also I’m fully aware it’s not going to happen. Even though I’m the same age as him ik my chances are 1/1,000,000. It’s just a fantasy I like to daydream about when I’m bored. I just like to imagine I am y/n but I know deep in my heart that I will NEVER meet this man and be in a relationship or anything with him. But the way some of the fans are CONVINCED they can get him is so freaky. Like you said there’s nothing wrong with thinking you can date a celeb(I literally do it constantly with that Paul Mescal and that scrawny bitch Timothee bc I’m a white mans whore) but I also know that in the real world that’s not going to happen. out of all the fandoms, i would weirdly say that insta is the least bad, only bc there isn't really a fandom on there like there once was. tiktok is next (at least to me) and then twitter is the worse overall lol

and like i mentioned back in the ask you're referring to, daydreaming is harmless. like if you like to think you have a chance with colby, or daydream about a dating him, there's nothing wrong with that. god knows i do that too. but it's the ppl that think that their daydreams are reality that are the problem. it's not only bc they go out of their way to "ship" themselves with him, it's bc it usually leads them to hate on any woman in his life and act as if they aren't good enough for them, when in reality they only reason they feel that way is bc that girl isn't themselves.

the parasocial relationship with snc is really crazy comparatively to a lot of other social media ppl. i think the reason for that (somewhat) is way back in the day, snc used to interact with fans frequently. like circa 2015/16 they were talking to fans on twitter all the time. and they would dm them too. there was an open communication with snc and fans and i think that started and laid the groundwork for what happens today.

snc have always deeply cared for their fans. they actively do everything in their power to make their fans feel good. that was always the main reason as to why they started making content. they wanted to make platforms like the life project and metalife bc they saw how sad a lot of ppl were. but in a weird way, i think bc they cared so much, they almost made a monster (in a sense) by connecting too much to fans.

it's one thing to relate to snc and wish that they were your friends. that's fine. but it's another thing to actively think you are friends with snc. even if they've interacted with you a couple times, no: you aren't their friend. they do not know you like that, and vice versa.

and when it comes to colby, i think bc colby keeps the side of his life, his love life, super private, i think it causes a lot of women in the fandom to go crazy over what he would be like as a bf. and while again, there's nothing wrong with daydreaming, there's comes a point where you gotta be realistic and under you aren't going to actually date him.

a lot of fans feel like they know colby, and bc of that, also think they have a chance with him. but it's not true. daydream and read fanfics all you want, but that doesn't make it reality.

First off: We're gonna start off with the heavy shit such as rape, pedophilia pairing stuff in the communities bc it's not as much of an issue in tumblr anymore. Though while still there sometimes? It's still an issue in other platforms like twitter.

So rape can be portrayed and fade to black, but I don't think it should ever be actual smut or part of ships or anything that someone can get off to or said it's a good. Because you're pretty much just making fetishist rape porn at that point. Same for pedophilia as it can't be positive for something that extreme or show that it's okay. That's just flat period and something other than background or darker settings should never really be an outright element otherwise as most of the rpc does not want or care about that shit. There's no such thing as antis when it comes to that, you either support pedophilia/rape in positive lights, portrayals or just outright want porn like a sick fuck but you're too much of a spineless bitch to admit it, period. What it doesn't mean: that you can take things like Jasper's forced fusion or call the character a rapist for doing inhuman things to begin with or 'toxic relationship where she's a rapist/pressuring Lapis for what you see as sex'. You're mentally deranged for making that comparison and yes, this is a REAL thing that actually happened in tumblr SU and twitter SU discourse and it was super braindamaged and then the same ppl. I say this stuff from top to bottom as Camp Camp, Rick and Morty on the tumblr fandom and more had people openly shipping Morty with Rick and posting porn in the main tags before the porn purge. Then same for Camp Camp with David and the Campers or even ppl in the rpc being into that shit. Like, it was bad, really bad back then years back. Like some of it may seem unrelated, but a lot of it stems from 'shipping wars' or ppl claiming someone's an anti for very GOOD reasons bc they're actually just covering ass for someone else or their own for sick fantasies.

Secondly: you can have toxic ships, surprise, surprise. So long as it's just an abusive relationship in a couple, I don't care.

There are bigger problems in the to world to worry about, and yeah, so long as it isn't like a thinly veiled mask for hating women, men, or some other group like a race or gender identity/sexuality. It's really whatever honestly, be smart about it, as is your character a misogynist/bigot and it's clear it's a part of their established canon or an oc that's a prick and not a good person or meant to be? Then yeah it's fine, ppl don't need to bend ass over backwards to explain themselves or cover their ass or explain themselves to you, you're not entitled jack fuck, so eat it. I don't think taking aspects like SU's fusion or other things in kids media for toxic relationships should ever go beyond: 'toxic' or showing this relationship is 'bad' and here's a generic example why to a power dynamic. I think if you DO want to go a darker route, you need to be a purely adult blog, not push that garbage in the broader rpc or fandom space as if it's a children's media, don't be a deranged moron about it. Thirdly: I myself have been harassed for Verosika (When I had her) and or Stella bc of their relationship to Blitz or Stella as thinly veiled anons.

I have tracked these ppl's IPs and for a time had them blocked or kept them blocked. People are not your punching bag for portraying a ship you don't like even if IC unprompted or making it unclear it's not an IC prompt, as when you talk with your feelings for an ask, it's pretty clear you're an insecure dumbass about your precious glorbos in a gay ship or ship getting ragged on by something ic to the point you need to go ass overbackwards to defend it or even send unironic hate disguised as an ask prompt.

Fourth: no one gives a fuck about your OTP or NOTP outside of your space, even then it's questionable. If you can explain it in a healthy, non-passive aggressive manner or to the point of not being vaguing, then fine, go ahead. Criticism is always fine, always will be. Otherwise? What I appreciate about your blog is that you can critique both ash and Ali’s play without tearing them down as a person. Like on Twitter ppl go too far and twist in their game critique while also saying ash is a horrible human or something which I don’t think is okay.

I agree and I honestly didn't think I said anything that bad even when the Sheridan/Ash conversation got brought up and then suddenly people started going crazy. It's like unless you go into extreme defensive mode and act like a crazy stan then you must hate Ash deep down and don't care about her. i find it so weird how some people think that mental illnesses are treated the same in real life as they're treated on the internet. people will literally diagnose themselves with mental disorders and go out on social media to tell everyone and shit. not like venting on your blog or something. i don't mean to say that mental illness should become a taboo again but that it's... still a taboo. i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and i feel so fucking ashamed when my bad (more like all of them, but i'm talking more about the ones that ppl around you will shit on you for the most) symptoms show. i feel weak and nuts and like i'm a terrible person. i will get threatened to be institutionalized bc of every little thing that i do that could be considered "crazy". i'm always afraid that will happen, especially bc mental healthcare in the country i live is shit. instead of making mental healthcare more accessible for people with mental disorders, they just turn those disorders into something banal and make it harder for people in need to reach out for help.

yepp the difference between telling someone ur mentally ill online and the absolute suffocating stigma of people KNOWING you are in real life is massive. ppl are very disconnected from the actualities of it at this point. im glad mental illness is being normalized but it's still not something that should be taken lightly, and unfortunately that's all anyone ever seems to do anymore. im really sorry you've been having such a hard time dealing w your bipolar, it's absolutely awful that you've been made to internalize so much shame over it. i can somewhat relate and have talked before on here about what it's like to know that people see you as a "crazy person" and the innumerable ways it feels like it holds you back in life. i wish it was even half comparable to some random twitter discussion that pathologizes feeling nervous or something else banal and normal. it's the same kids who think every attempt at defining a disorder is gatekeeping it when thats not how anything in healthcare works ever like ugh god whatever. it's tiring, i hear u. wishing you nothing but the best for the future, i seriously hope you find the treatment and the support system that you honestly deserve, even if it takes time <3 you are not weak, or nuts, or terrible. you're living with an illness, which yes, doesn't absolve you of your actions, but it does contextualize them a great deal. at the end of the day, you are doing what you can and that is enough. hugs. x

Hey hey, thanks for your answer. I was actually offline for a while to calm down and it helped a bit, but something still happened in between. (I wrote to xplrvibes if you want to read it)

I have a bit more motivation again despite everything, I also watched old videos from SnC and have now withdrawn a bit from the fandom. I've been watching the guys since 2020 and only really "plunged" into the fandom last year because I always tried to stay away as much as possible (no fan page, for example.)

Anyway, I've decided to be less active on social media and not worry about the drama anymore. It's more concerning to me than I thought, which I find sad because I'm an adult and things like that shouldn't really bother me.😂 But I think it's because Sam and Colby saved my life in a way and when I see that the two of them try everything and most of the "fans" are still not happy with it, it makes me angry and sad.

I'm back on Tumblr to read fanfictions or collect new ideas. The time off has definitely done me good :) My merch will arrive in 2 weeks and other than that there's not much more to say. How are you?

LMAO I really don’t get that altho i can see that the timing might be a little back to back, and i’m not a SHL-only stan by any measure but:

For HYX especially,

Firstly it was already having problems since the end of last year with censorship and review. This is mostly due to the reason that 2ha is a pretty big fandom and is the cult fave in the danmei industry - what this means is that there are three types of fans basically right, (1) Normal fans who love the novel + show (2) Those who fanatically love the novel in some extreme ways haha (3) Those who hate it and/or are HYX-onlys - so you get it all in a bag. 

The first type of fans is definitely the easier ones to deal with, but unfortunately in big fandoms you get a lot of (2) and (3). It’s not something that’s exclusive only to 2ha/HYX but because it’s a cult fave, and a controversial one at that, problems definitely arise.

(2) are the ones who head down to the filming scenes, take photos and footage despite crew telling ppl not to do it, not to sneak around filming sites and definitely not to leak photos or footage. They do it anyway. Yeah sure of course it’s a couple of photos every few weeks or a tiny video every few weeks but word gets out. They’re inevitably hurting the show and the fandom with their actions, because shit trends on Weibo really fast, and the censorship committee (not just for the film industry or shows) is always lurking on the site to catch any sign of you know, hate speech for the country etc. and more. Not related, but the point is that social media is watched very closely. It’s not a myth or an exaggeration, you really just got to be careful, and HYX is a show that, despite not having been broadcasted, has consistently trended on Weibo over the last few months. Not always because of leaks, but yeah, HYX is in everyone’s faces. Fans themselves put a fucking huge spotlight on the show BEFORE we even have any content at all, and of course this isn’t enough to like create huge trouble for the show but then we have-

(3), which I believe creates the most trouble - the thing is 2ha and meatbun who wrote the book, has a long line of haters and antis, way before HYX came into the picture. I shall not go into details of how I’ve seen some big accounts on Tumblr here spit vitriol at the book without even reading it just based on the content/trigger warnings and playing the morality card (and I think most ppl who’ve followed me for a while know just what I think about that). Like this was way before any footage or leaks or even HYX being a thing came about - as a cult fave it has its share of haters, and this share is a huge. There are those who get off on their moral high grounds XD and I think especially these ones are the most troublesome, all they have to do is report that HYX is immoral, bad for culture etc. etc. hahaha and yeah the censorship team is always ready to step in on reports, especially on BL stuff.

And of course the larger part is the change in censorship processes - honestly even way before SHL came out in end Feb, HYX was no closer to getting passed by the review committee than it is now. Maybe yes, SHL scenes may be now used as reference for comparison but seriously? People are deluding themselves if they thought pre-SHL HYX was going through the review process smoothly and only hit roadblocks after. I mean, we’ve all seen the leaks, some of them are truly like god-tier scenes that may be hard to explain away. It’s not like they can repackage the script especially because they have to submit everything to the review committee.

I mentioned this in a post yesterday but how SHL passed reviews is due to the fact that they didn’t have to submit a full script. They only had to submit a partial script, and that makes a world of difference. Basically a team, under these requirements, can repackage the script to include the more het looking parts even I feel, and of course some heavy misdirection by the team, it could work. Now that you have to put an entire script up for scrutiny.. I mean, it’s hard. This is just a game of probability.

And the last reason I think is still Tencent. Honestly, I’ve never seen a huge ass MNC like this handle a show this terribly.

1. No control over leaks - This is honestly the dumbest shit to do

2. Terrible crisis management response time - When fans leak footage, it’s standard and practical business sense to control it IMMEDIATELY. They shouldn’t just leave it up to the crew to put up notices and as the company that owns the rights to the show, it’s up to them to possibly threaten legal action as well. Basically a sterner stance would have helped a lot, but Tencent is a motherfucker of a company who only cares about free marketing and publicity without any considerations over impact to the show itself 

3. Terrible at communicating with fans - Seriously, I’ve never seen a company or team that’s been this bad at confirming delays etc. and providing updates about a show. I understand that it’s mostly due to them not wanting to affect the review process or create more chaos within the fandom but lmao Tencent allowed the hype to build so much and then goes absolutely silent at crazy rumours. I mean we had to find out about a delay from Cai Bao, their cat mascot, like??? In a really veiled and poetic message that didn’t outright say the word ‘delay’ like damn these ppl have a lot of time

As for SPL,

Lol we don’t know anything about this show. We don’t know if they took out or left in the Yifu part that would supposedly make it less gay or whatever, we don’t know anything about how gay it should have been or could have, so this one might be a tad more ridiculous. I mean none of us have seen any good leaks, and we haven’t seen any of the script, we got ZERO idea about this. Maybe they really went hard on the bromance, how would any of us know hahaha so all the more it’s like people have zero basis to go on, to say that it’s because of SHL. Seriously, everyone’s shooting in the dark.

Technically if laws didn’t change last Feb, I think SPL/WIK should have been passed in the same way as SHL did, but it’s just inopportune time for them.

- So tl:dr HYX already had tons of problems, that I doubt were going to go away just because SHL didn’t air, honestly. For SPL, it’s really hard to tell what failed the review, because none of us know what’s going on in the script.

No one cared about SHL, even I only realized the show was airing on the day itself and then made a rec post after I watched the first 4 eps. And if it truly was anything to do with SHL, I’m telling you that the first thing the censorship committee will do is basically shut SHL down, get Youku to take it off sites etc. until it’s reviewed again etc. etc. That hasn’t happened yet, at least not before HYX and SPL were stalled.

All the bigger accounts I see on Twitter are a combination of CQL/SHL or MXTX/SHL, SPL/SHL and I am personally 2HA/HYX/SHL. The fight is all out on Twitter HAHAHAHA but it’s not that bad, we’ve all got practice. Seriously WHO ACTUALLY is an SHL only stan I’ve honestly not seen much?! I read Ruby's statement and honestly I don't like that people are blaming her for her fans' actions, it comes off like they're making her responsible for the behavior of her fans. I don't think actors can do much else other than release these statements. This isn't like Danielle who instigated stuff for years. People are acting like she should just know ppl will go crazy on twitter and attack Javicia when that probably didn't even occur to her.

Nobody said that they should have known ahead of time. But the moment that she got wind of the fact that people were spewing racist vitriol at Javicia, they ought to have put out a strong statement denouncing any hate directed at Javicia. That’s not what happened: she put out a statement hours later, mildly telling people to “try and not to attack” Javicia. At that point she knew that Javicia was being harassed, but they chose not to put out a statement directly telling people to stop attacking Javicia.

Also, Ruby has a history of willfully ignoring racism, which is why people are annoyed with her statement addressing the hate Javicia has been getting today, and they have the right to be. Multiple things can be true at once: Ruby is valid in speaking their truth and about their mistreatment and the mistreatment of crew members on the Batwoman set. She is wrong in how she worded the statement addressing the vitriol spewed at Javicia that resulted. Nobody said that Ruby did the same thing that Danielle did, but the fact of the matter is what she should have said was stop attacking Javicia, which they did not do.

Usually in these case of drama between costars, wins the one that brings more money to the network, if you ever watched Castle, the leads couldn’t stand each other the last 2 season ms m, and they created every possible storyline to keep them separated, they were supposed to be married, lol.

NF requested to only work a day per week with SK and they were together only in the master shot and they had “double” for the back/over the shoulders shots.

NF made ABC renew the show while firing SK on Twitter and also the only woc on the show, the backlash was so bad, they canceled it, but NF is so powerful and the golden goose of ABC m, they basically created a show with the same ppl that looks like a sequel of castle….

So the question is who brings more money to ABC?

Who hold more power?

I didn't watch Castle, but that's crazy! I can't believe they did that with two people who were supposed to be a couple on screen lol. And also pretty sad how the male lead got them to fire the woman on Twitter...jeez.

Well I honestly don't know who would bring more money to the network...how would one determine that? It's an interesting question. I do know who is more popular/pulls more engagement though and that's pretty clear based on social media. But we also know who is supposed to be the lead, unless the show is still considered a ensemble cast? I mean it's hard to tell these days...it felt like an ensemble cast in Season 4 but this season was so all over the place it seemed like they tried to put Andy back in forefront so I don't really know what their plan/angle is.

I think it's going to be pretty clear what happens next season based on how things end this season. But if it looks like both are staying next season after seeing how the storylines end up in the finale...well then I'll be really curious how they will manage to make it work next season because it just seems beyond repairable at this point which is unfortunate. Especially if you can't even be professional through characters.

How do u feel about Son Yaz season 2 so far? Though I’m so excited to have it back on screen, I can’t help to feel the darkness and anger of the main characters kinda threw me off. Gone are the days of light-hearted family drama… I’m sure all the darkness is necessary for them to find light again, but I can’t help to feel that’s why the ratings are so low.

And let’s not even talk about #akmur 😭 at this point I can’t help to feel that they will never get back together. With Yagmur’s anger and Akgun’s involvement w/ Sancaktar, my guess that the only thing that’ll bring them together is something major like Selim’s death…

I feel conflicted about this season! I like it and I like seeing the changes in the characters after all the trauma and 3 years apart, but it feels like something’s missing. The spark that made s1 so special just isn’t there to me and I can’t put my finger on why that is. Part of me feels like it’s because last season seemed much more focused on the characters and their development and their relationships with each other (or at least that’s what I paid the most attention to 😬🤔) and this season is more about the crime/mafia aspect of the story. And I mean I am interested in it, but again it’s not really the thing I care about the most, the characters are. Someone on twitter said something about how what made s1 so good was watching them build this family and seeing that family warmth and how this season is kinda trying to appeal to the ppl who asked for more action in the story. I can definitely see that. Like you said, gone are the days of light-hearted family drama… Either way whatever is going on is just not really working rating wise and that makes me so so sad (I am not joking when I say I literally shed tears on Sunday after seeing the ratings).

And more and more, I’ve been seeing ppl complain about what’s wrong the show, what the writers are doing wrong and how they should be writing the season and it breaks my heart. Bc what’s really crazy to me is how all dizis go through that inevitable point where the show no longer feels the same, characters are all ooc and making stupid, illogical decision, the romantic relationships don’t make sense anymore and the writers just rely on the actors’ chemistry to try and make it work, the story no longer makes sense and doesn’t flow, and everyone’s generally miserable watching it and like Son Yaz is SOOO far away from that point. Like yeah it doesn’t exactly feel the same as s1, that should be expected after a main character dies, but everything is still really good and really compelling. These characters have been through so much and their journey is still genuinely interesting and still worth watching. So while I understand that things have been kind of slow and not what we expected, I still don’t really get the complaints. I feel like once again twitter is just being hypercritical and impatient. Although a part of me feels like they’re being like that mostly because we’re on the verge of getting cancelled, bc some episodes last season were definitely slow paced and l did not see as many complaints. Ppl want things to be fixed right away and for everything to go back to normal so we can get the ratings we deserve but idk, good, logical storytelling doesn’t really work like that.

And I do really wonder about akmur, because it’s not like they don’t love each other anymore. As angry as Yağmur is, she still definitely loves him and she still has that connection and tether to him. So I just really wanna know what it’s going to take for her to forgive Akgün especially once she finds out about Halil Sadi. I also wonder what it’s going to take for Akgün to even forgive himself so that he can feel like they could be together again (whatever it does take, we’re going to need more than just a couple of rushed episodes to get there, so here’s hoping we don’t get cancelled!!). Honestly they all just need to go to therapy lmaooo
