reasons why elizabeth swann as the pirate king is the best thing in the universe:
- character design.
- the single best writing of her character was when she was the pirate king.
- she furthers everyone else's character development as the pirate king!! she made jack do a selfless thing and she made will do a scary thing!!
- gender reasons
- she is such a good leader that her side won a battle they were completely outnumbered for with just the power of team morale.
- she knows all about pirates!! she'd be the perfect person to lead them!!
- the story arc of will taking davy jones' place and elizabeth being the pirate king is so good because,,, a man that can only walk the land one day in a year, and the leader of pirates, and they're married?? amazing.
- i am gay

I think that they made up the title of the Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea to make Barbossa more important than he is, so the resurrection of Barbossa was "justified", no matter how stupid an idea that is.
As far as I am concerned, Barbossa is a small fly who rebelled against a Pirate Lord and stole his ship. Also, the whole idea is connected to the whole unnecessary plotline of releasing Calypso BY the Pirate Lords. They could still release Calypso without using Pirate Lords.
She is a goddess, I doubt she would be cursed if she destroyed the heart of Davy Jones (which would make it more important item). She would just get her immortality back. She couldn't release Jones from the curse while human, and it was not in her interest even, because as long as he was immortal, they could be together forever. But if she learned about his betrayal? She would be absolutely furious, and she would have a reason to destroy the heart there and then.
Not to mention that the whole idea of Pirate Lords would make much more sense if they had a lord per every discovered sea (it would make like over 70 of them) and instead had 7 Kings of "Seven Seas" who create some sort of democratic parliament (Brethren Court).
I know they wanted to go with the whole idea of "Pirates are the underdogs and East India Trading Company is too powerful", but that idea literally backfires when you realize that EITC had SO MANY ships that the last battle in the third movie is literally a Pyrrhic victory, because they would be all decimated afterwards and only Flying Dutchman would survive that, as Calypso is not necessarily a person inclined to fuck EITC just because it is good for the pirates, especially after she learned the truth. Beckett is no general, so the whole EITC would not just run when he died. He is a major player here, tho.
Even if half or most of the Pirate Lords and Kings were killed before the assembly of the Court (as the movie establishes that pirates are a dying breed and specifically shows us tons of executions) or refused to fight to save their skins, there would be still some ships under the Pirate Lords and Kings who did agree to fight (assuming they could ask pirates in their "ruling" area to fight for them). And at least then they would have a fighting chance, but still be the underdogs.
And if you wonder, “But what with Jack? They have no reason to bring him back!” then I am here with an explanation: They need Jack anyway for the Court to assemble, so they could decide if they fight Beckett and have a chance to get a vote in favor of fighting as they all probably know that Jack sees Beckett as his enemy (so if third movie followed Jack’s ire logic from first movie when he carried a gun for 10 years to shoot Barbossa, then he would be in a position to have the same motivation to finish off Beckett himself for literally being the reason why Jack died, Wench sank and why he ended indebted to Davy Jones in the first place). The whole thing with pieces of eight could be absolutely thrown out, and it would still work just fine.

I was there when Hector Barbossa emerged from behind a dirty curtain and dove into an apple like nothing happened and everyone just accepted that Calypso herself brought him from the dead with no damage.
I was there when Captain Jack Sparrow sauntered his way out of Davy Jones' Locker like it was cake with a bit of waterboarding on the side.
So like-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll see this indestructible little fucker again.

SPOILERS AHEAD for OFMD !!
Alright, I haven't watched it yet but I've spoiled myself in here so... All I want to say is this : Remember Pirates of the Caribbean ? Remember Barbossa ? Remember the sea witch (CALYPSO !!!) that brought him back to life ? Now, remember that interview where David said that he could do anything he wanted if he found it fun, even bringing back dead characters to life ? Remember Buttons, the fricking guy that turned into a bird and was called a sea witch ? This is all I'm saying. But hey ! That could be fun, right ?

literally sobbed over Captain Barbossa's hugely underrated character development towards the end of the franchise
CB was the epitome of piracy from the very beginning and Ronning showed how the captain found his soul without ever even having one.. A pirate's unconventional treasure.
I love it because the entire series he is portrayed as this character whose selfish actions significantly impact the main characters but in the end, unexpectedly, HE is greatly impacted
and after watching 5 three hour movies with him as simply a character that aids the film's plot - he is given a touching story in the last one that contradicts his whole persona and the audience FEELS it
what makes it even better is the writers (Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio) incorporated this into the film based on a fandom-made idea from the internet
KEEP WRITING & EXPRESSING YOUR IDEAS & INTERESTS
it may just turn into something that everyone gets to experience and enjoy!
