Marut Guard is the standard for Porthian Heavy Armor.  The armor starts as cotton gambeson as a last line of impact defense, scale plate for protection against stabbing and impacts, another layer of gambeson to help protect the armor from impact and slashing, and finally a layer of leather as further reinforcement against the elements and impacts. Their primary enemies are Vilkatan warriors, whose great strength leads to such insistence on impact dispersion even when facing lances and slashing claws. The armor is designed to keep the user warm and be relatively comfortable, suitable for travel on particularly dangerous roads, and looking fabulous. The gambeson and leather are fashioned first, the scale plate armor fitted to the finished armor so that it rests easily within the layers. Once completed additional plates can be added to the outside via straps and harnesses to provide a customizable level of protection. Due to the fittings required for all Porthian armor, the basic design is intended to be relatively easily refitted by Porthian smiths. The Portian armor smithing art includes skill in the tailor’s art as well, or at the very least armor smiths will collaborate closely with dedicated tailors, specifically because of this Marut Guard is not the most common form of armor used, despite the protection that it offers. The armor is not as flexible or light as Helic plate, trading mobility for dramatically increased full body durability. It is most commonly seen in well trained troops too valuable to lose to a stray arrow, or vanguard soldiers. It is also seen as near synonymous with Zalamet’s militant followers, as this is considered the lightest armor suitable for their use. The Armor traces its linage back to one of the Founders of the Jager Society Silas Von Blackclaw. It is said that himself and a few hundred of his followers were able to hold the Malice Pass for three days adorned in this Form of Armor. This let gave time for the primary army to arrive and push back the Vilkatan invasion. Armor design by @coffeedazes

The ladies of portheous. A few examples of females in the frozen hellscape of portheous. To note porthians tend to be on the taller side compared to the other nations, only dwarfed by the people of Titanus. Porthians have a variety of body types but a common one is lovely thicc girls, i mean when you wanna stay warm find your self a nice snuggably lass or lad right. Portheous is home to a frozen hellscape. The people of portheous have adapted to this cold climate, developing into tall, burly people. Porthians tend to tower over the people of the other 2 grand nations. Of the 3 grand nations, Portheous also has the highest population of winged/avian species.  This makes portheous the undisputed masters of the sky. Portheous clothing and Helic Plate Portheous is a naturally cold hellscape of a country. Due to its dangerous and cold nature, the Porthians have developed warm clothing that can double up as some forms of protection to there base fashions. Porthians take a certain practicality into account for clothing designs, like the ability to not die included in its design. When it comes to full on armor, Portheous does have a variety of choices. The most popular and produce Piece of armor though being the Helic Plate. Due to heavy snow and ice, the designers thought heavy armor was not feasible for long periods of time. So they designed the Helic Plate to be made from a lighter but still durable metal, focusing on angling the plates to help in protection and layering it with Cured boar hide and Woolsilk for warmth along with comfort. The armor is noted for its surprisingly comfortable fit for long periods of time considering the protection it offers. The inner lining of the armor can be removed if the wearers are traveling to armor climates or they plan to use there own gambeson for the inner protection. Helic plate is used by most militia and is often knights lighter travel armor. Though simple in design this allows it to be extensivly modified and personalized should the individual have the funds and needs to do so. art by @coffeedazes Support us at https://www.patreon.com/gravedragonproductions

Starting some concept work on villages and the average citizens for the country of portheous. This is a a pretty common small village. Portheous is a frozen land of snow all year round. This has lead many villages to make use of the naturally occurring ice walls and mountains when building there defenses.
Tumblr media
Portheous has a few unique animals that the people have taken to raising for various reason. Kalika as above are wooly worm creatures about the 1 1/2 times the size of a goat. They produce thick wool along there body as well as spin silk that the porthians use to make clothing, there meat is a bit stringy but still down to be delicious to use in cooking.
Tumblr media
Murta- The Murta are big generally docile creatures, due to there weight these creatures have a hard time flying. The milk and honey these creatures produce find many uses among the porthian people. They are also raised for there rich meat. Raising Murtha can be a challenge for those new to farming due to there hive mentality, but veteran’s have found tricks to make the use of these creatures.

Talia Niggurath Blackclaw Talia hails from the renowned Blackclaw chiefdom in southern Portheous. Talia’s father being the current chief of there village. In youth Talia traveled down to Kaleria with her father, who thought it be a good way to show her the world. During the trip the caravan was ambushed, though the guard and her father were capable of fending off a few monsters and bandits, the youthful talia wanted to prove her prowess only to become gravely injured. Conventional medicine could do nothing to save the poor young child. Grief stricken her father turned to darker paths if it meant to save her. Talia was brought before an occult shaman who examined her. During the examination the unconscious Talia began to hear whispers. An entity made itself know as the great mother, the one who watches over there infinite young. It felt pity for the child and offered to make Talia one of its young if it would swear fealty to the all mother. All it demanded is that she praise the goat. Talia accepted the goats offer, her pristine white feather tarnishing to a deep rotted yellow. Talia’s injured arm shriveled before the shaman and her fathers very eyes. The remains forming into a long slender blade nearly as tall as talia herself. Talia had reborn as a child of the goat, the benefits and curses of this showing themselves in time. When Talia recovered enough to travel her father spirited her home and had the servants weighting on her hand and foot. Lord Barris was not going to let his only daughter be put in such danger again. Talia rebelled against this idea, being there family had a been that of knights and Jagers. They were not individuals of leasiure.  In secret when Talia’s uncle the famous Artorous ‘Chaos walker.’ and her aunt Camilla ‘Valkyrie’ visited or she got to visit them she would train like any black claw, harder still to make up for her injuries. Against there brothers will, Camilla and Artorous wrote recommendations to the royal academy of war on behalf of Talia. Once accepted Barris could do little to stop his daughters enrollment. Talia wasn’t so dedicated to the thought of becoming a Jager or knight but would not just become some political token to be married off. At the academy, Talia became fast friends with the Shroud twins and another lass known as Aurelia. They fought and trained together for years, before the normally steadfast Sanguine seeming to have lost her mind murdered a pair of the instructors at the school. Though Sanguine was not executed for the crime she was exiled from the school. Talia decided to join her friend an excuse to see the world no matter how dark had presented itself. Beside the goat was growing restless sitting in a single location, the goat needed to hunt. Art by @coffeedazes Support us and our upcoming comic at https://www.patreon.com/gravedragonproductions

Sanguine Fiamonta Shroud Sanguine is the younger twin sister to nightshade, born from the immortal Delmaus and the entity refereed to as The Creeping Winter. Threw her parents sanguine learned the path of blood necromancy and surprising to all self taught herself the path of soul albeit much rougher then blood. Sanguine is an incredibly charismatic and at times hammy individual. Loving to be the center of attention, this would be more of a problem if she wasn’t extremely capable leader who can inspire others. Sanguine’s weapon of choice is an etched, ‘Trick Cane’ The cane is a sturdy item with a spike built into the base of the cane. The trick comes when she activates the cane and it elongates into a spiked whip. The cane is able to suck blood up from who it strikes and the ground. The etchings are fueled by the blood fed to the cane giving it unique properties or can be used to enhance sanguine’s spells. Sanguine uses her blood magic in a multitude of ways, throwing projectiles, forming armor along her body, hardening it into weapons and can even mend and heal herself or others using blood. Her path of Soul allows her to rip essence directly out of her opponents that she can use to further enhance herself for short bursts of time. Sanguine attended the royal academy of war alongside her sister after there mother came to conclusion she did not have time to teach her children directly what they needed while dealing with a few boarder issues. At the school sanguine was a bit of a trouble maker but did well. After a few years of attending the academy, one morning the students and staff found sanguine in the front of the school holding the remains of two teachers she had butched. Though such a crime is punishable by death, the school dropped the charges but forced sanguine to become exiled from the school. Nightshade and two of sanguines best friends left with her. Sanguine though has big ambitions and plans to make the world remember her name. Art by the amazing @coffeedazes Support us and the upcoming comic at https://www.patreon.com/gravedragonproductions

Legends of Arima characters
Name:Stygia Von Stroud
Occupation:Immortal of Portheous
Favored weapon:Claymore
Divine Aspects:Earth,Battle,Hunting,Metal
Stygia Von Stroud was among the first of the immortals created after the architects found they had little control of their Behemoths. Stygia’s creation did not herald new celestial bodies, the Immortal of Slaughter a void in the celestial realm. It was in the Everfree War that Stygia found his purpose: bringing slaughter to the enemies of reality. He stood at the front of nearly every battle of the war, the first into each horde and the last to leave. It was in the thick of battle that he found purpose, joy discovered in the ravages of war. The only Immortal who could be said to favor battle as thoroughly was Zalamete, his companion in creation and devastation. His history is inextricably linked with her’s, as seen during the oldest known legend they share. In the late days of the war, when bone and scale and flesh proved insufficient to destroy the worst of Everfree’s creations, Zalamete invited Stygia to the depths of her workshop with an offer. She offered to forge him a great weapon, one to suit it wielder, if he should provide the material. And so Stygia plunged his hand into his chest, and from within the depths of the earth he plucked a single chunk of ragged ore. Zalamete took the metal, and found inspiration within the rugged strength that Stygia’s blessing held. From the metal she forged the first sword, a nameless blade of iron whose edge was chipped and hilt scuffed before it even touched his hand. This blade was the first of countless, its first taste of Everfree blood enough for Stygia to decide that all should be capable of bearing such arms. And so Stygia released the secrets of mining and the earth, as Zalamete took her first apprentice to spread her arts. This sword was the first to pierce the Everfree’s flesh, the fervor of Stygia’s assault casting pieces into the heavens above. Stygia’s presence in the heavens was solidified with the greatest battle in history, the pieces of Everfree forming into the planets which hang among Delmaus’ moons and Alexandria’s stars. Following the war’s end Stygia took up his own hobbies to prevent the boredom so familiar to warriors in peace times, and so became the grand hunter of the Portheous Immortals. No hunting expedition is worthwhile alone, and so Stygia began to teach the Elysians in the art of the hunt. Lessons learned to slay the greatest creatures of the Wyld Lord were applied toward the sustenance of mortal kind, each great lesson accompanied by a story by tradition. The original, though hunters are encouraged to apply their own experiences to these lessons, is the tale of when the Wyld Lord trapped Stygia. Confined to a realm with only himself and several thousand variations of himself. Only one could leave this realm, so Stygia was forced to hunt, seduce, and slaughter himself an endless number of times. Experiencing each death and understanding every hunt from each side, the Grand Hunter gained the most vital tool of any warrior; Wisdom. And so the Great Hunt ended, with the final prey being the Wyld Lord whose foolishness created his own downfall, and whose skull still adorns the Hunter’s Lodge Temple. Once the Elysia became sufficient at slaying prey and satisfying themselves, those with greater desires began to seek conflict between each other. Stygia was disappointed with the floundering about in the arts of combat between Porthians and even in other nations. With the teachings of Zalamete spreading weaponcraft and his own growing horde of followers, Stygia began to teach the mortals of the world what it meant to truly wage war. Stygia revels in battle, and encourages others to do the same, though he has been known to scorn those who shed blood for underhanded purposes. As the middle point between the Behemoths and Immortals, Stygia is a creature of purpose. His purpose is to wage war, and so he was gifted a form suited to do so. His natural form is a colossal taur creature, furred and pawed, yet bearing leathered wings and a tuft tail capable of crushing stone. Through interaction with his siblings and mortals, Stygia reached further understanding of what it meant to be the prototype for his fellow Immortals. He developed the ability to transform his body into a closer approximation of his siblings, a grandly tall biped who stands nearly ten feet tall. Due to Stygia’s taur form, the people of portheous have found mounted combat to be a sense of pride and honor for all their people. It also proved to be incredibly effective in matters of strategy, proving the crux of countless battles. The Cavalry of Portheous is undisputed as the greatest riders in the world.
Stygia has sired many children in his long life. Some notable ones follow:
Asimar Meloka- Asimar was a great and arrogant hunter who prided herself on being able to claim any monster. She sought greater challenges constantly, and each success would be told over ale and revelry. A boastful woman, she turned down no challenges, and accepted no quarter. In time a challenge came, carried by a man in a red cloak. To slay the legendary beast known as llyranguf, a corpse eating monster whose only stories were from those who found the debris of its long cold meals. She went forth to slay it with confidence, and in her arrogance forsook the aid of her companions. They would avenge her many years later, returning her great bow to her ancestral home.
Markus Nathanial Septimus- As many of Stygia’s children are, Markus was a great hunter. Unlike his sister, he proved capable of learning from the mistakes of others, and so went on to form the Slayer’s Guild. As Guildmaster he raised the establishment to spread across the land, even establishing lodges in the lands of Kaleria and Zoartis. It was only natural that he would become companion to Regal Vaus, his legacy felt even today.
Graft Eisanhower- Graft was an incredibly powerful necromancer, who is said to have learned his arts by his own hand. Some say Graft still walks the earth to this day as a being beyond life and death, having mastered both equally. Graft would come to make his name in the face of Vilkatan invasion. The war was going poorly for the Elysians, each victory pyrrhic and every defeat crippling, the mortals swiftly losing ground. And yet following behind both Elysian and Vilakatan was a single man, and behind him trailed an ocean of the dead. The war turned to slaughter as the Vilkatans were hemmed in, and the Elysians witnessed an Archmage’s work. One hand commanded the dead, the other sweeping away mortal wounds. In the aftermath many sought to learn at Graft’s feet, and the art of necromancy took its first steps towards wider acceptance.
Jelar Hopkins-Jelar Hopkins was a disciple of the Immortal Zalamete, the first individual to hold the moniker of Gem knight. One of Zalamete’s elite sentinels dedicated to guarding the realm, so named due to Jelar’s skill with magically enchanted gemstones. Jelar met their end against a Vilkata Champion, at the end of a ceaseless duel lasting seven days and seven nights. Though Jelar did die from the battle he did so spearing his rival upon his sword. The war ended soon after, as none among the Vilkatan had seen a Champion fall in single combat, and the Elysians were obligated to carry their hero home. To this day the Gem Knights hold the honor of facing the greatest Vilkata has to offer, each ready to uphold their founders legacy. To this day he stands as the example of Porthian determination: To complete a task, or die in the doing.
Penumbra Von Stroud- Penumbra is Stygia’s current youngest daughter. A prodigy even among demigods, she took swiftly to the ways of the Iron Sentinel, the Hussar, the Necromancer, and the Berserker. This fearsome but young warrior has much to prove, burdened with overt bloodlust and crass behavior beyond even Porthean sensibilities. She is beloved by her companions and already a folk hero, known as the Fourfold Fatale. Many of the stories about her are merely stories, but even they hold a kernel of truth. One most often told, and most vigorously denied by Penumbra herself, is the tale of her three great duels with Valerie Aurora and the aftermath thereof. The number rises with the telling, as despite her denials the two continue to meet on the field of battle.
Temple- Stygia’s Temple is on the fringe of reality where the Vilkata’s largest hoards nest, to the north as Zalamete watches over the west. Known as the Hunter’s lodge, the fortress temple is not meant for protracted siege. Rather it serves merely as a rallying point for the Slayers and armies within, for each battle is met on the bloodsoaked fields beyond its low walls. The temple doubles as the headquarters of the Slayer’s guild and second home of the Hunters, along with being a major exporter of raw materials. Smaller Temples of his serve all who bear the burden of a Slayer, and all hunters can find refuge by his hearth. Temples to Stygia are often found near the border of whatever town they reside in, to better serve those weary of the road and wild.
Offerings- Pelts of animals, precious metals, bones wrapped in fat, and peaches.
Holiday-The Feast of Beasts. The Feast takes place following a great hunt, held once a year. The hunters of each city go out as a group to hunt the most dangerous beasts of the region. To be picked for the hunt is certain to earn a great honor, even if you become a meal for the beast. Once slain every part of the beast is turned into weapons, offerings and food for the Feast. For every night after the Hunt those who can will congregate to partake of the Hunt. On the last night of the Feast, one week from the first, bards and performers will enact great tellings of one of the Legendary Trials of Stygia Von Stroud.
Capital city- North Drafton: The city lays on fringes of Reality, holding the northern border of the world at the largest exit from the Great Valley to Portheus proper. Every winter the city rebuffs another invasion of the Vilkatan hordes, earning the city its second name: Vilkata’s End. The hardiest warriors of the realm live with-in the city and its sister city, South Drafton. Despite the harsh conditions and the constant invasions the city has prospered into a glorious haven of marble. The land around it is fertile and fresh, providing great sustenance to its wardens, just as their bodies and blood nourish the land.

Nightshade Candora Shroud Fighting style:Necromancy(path of bone,Shadow), Trick umbrella, acrobatics Nightshade is the older of the Shroud Twins. Born to the Immortal known as Delmaus and The Creeping Winter, A Harbinger of the Nexus. Though her parents Nightshade learned the arts of necromancy focusing on both the path of shadows and bone to supplement her incredible acrobatic prowess. Nightshade has always had a flare for the theater, being a gifted actress and improvisational trickster able to perform different slight of hand tricks as well as nimble maneuvers. With her skills Nightshade settled on using an unconventional weapon. The Umbrella Nightshade carries with her is a sturdy and armored item, the edges of the umbrella often being razor bladed. She has over the years used several different umbrella’s each with unique tricks, she changes them out for what suits her at the time. The one static aspect of her umbrella is how lethal it is in nightshade’s hands. Nightshade uses the shadow aspect of her necromancy to augment her grace, able to move distances in a fluid way far faster then a normal person could manage. This also also allows her to trick her opponents into believing she is in places she is not. Sometimes by just a fraction of the distance turning what an opponent thinks is a sure hit into a glancing blow. Nightshades use of Bone necromancy has much more practical applications compared to her shadows. Able to form armor on her body or even forcing spikes to petrude from her flesh in defense. She can launch bone darts at a range and warp her enemies bones at close range. She has a litany of other spells relating to bone but is not talented at raising skeletons for long term use. After being sent to the royal academy against her will by her mother she did bond further with her sister and a pair of friends known as Aurelia and Talia. But misfortune found her Younger twin Sanguine when she out of no where murdered two of her instructors. After an investigation, the school comity did acquit Sanguine of murder but Exile her from the school. Nightshade left the school at her sisters side, she connected her and her friends with a traveling circus she knew of. Forward unto her destiny.
