Every time I read a fan fic where Ingo or Emmet struggles to beat Arceus or any of the other legendaries in a fight, I kinda just sit there in disbelief, mainly because canonically, in game, you can go up to Ingo with any of the Legends, including the creation trio and Arceus, and he will absolutely kick your a*s six ways to Sinnoh if you aren't prepped, with only two pokemon or less.

This man has no access to abilities or TMs or held items any more, and he gleefully shmears you into paste. Don't tell me his brother wouldn't be able to do the same.

Those level limiters on battle facilities are purely for civilian protection, I assure you.

(Yes I know that the struggle is for dramatic story tension in the fanfic, hush, let me appreciate the OP train men in peace)

---------- I can't unsee a moment in the comic where Peach is running for her life, like, literally pegging it as fast and as far as she can go, barely dodging, even being clipped by attacks being fired off by something VERY persistent.

Her mind tracks back in the chaos of the moment to Plum, they would go running, it was always such a chore for Peach but she joined in to humour her, even though she wasnt built for that, and she'd hear Plum nag her that sometimes running away is your only option, fighting everything will get her hurt, or worse killed. Greys there saying his gears good, really good! But it can't block it all, and that Plum is right.

Peach should have listened to them, should have run more, built up her endurance to long distance sprinting, Plum always outran her on flat terrain, and here she was, once again nearly being outrun by something, no gear, no protection.

When she finally gets away, whatever luck falls upon her to escape in sort of one piece, she starts running every morning. plum was right. Grey was right. sometimes running is the only option. She could stand to learn that a little better.

This gives a glimpse into the things shes missing the most, confronted with her loved ones not being there, them being right and her accepting that now, the fear of dying in the past and not seeing them again. She can't let that happen.

Readers will get a rare peak at behind the veil, why fighting so hard has a purpose for her.

Eventually Rei joins in with her running every morning with her pokemon, he's like Plum, has a nack for it, long legs, and it takes him little time to gain the stamina, overtakes peach in a flat race after 4 months. She looks at him ahead of her on the trail they run, he'd looking back laughing, joyous, and she sees Plum and Grey in him.

Rei's warm and jolly like Grey, and cocky and speedy like Plum. It's a weird realisation that Peach's pulled someone so similar into her orbit.

It's that moment that she realises exactly why she'd kill for the kid.

oh, it’s more than okay to ask about them! i actually really like talking about my interpretations of the pokémon characters, but i just struggle to articulate my ideas a lot of the time. or forget to share them. i’ve been meaning to drop lore for these two so i’ll do that now!

( putting the answers under a cut because i kinda ended up rambling. oops. )

are they siblings?

yes, they are! juliana is the older of the two, but they’re actually super close in age ( with jules not even being a year older than florian. ) because of that, they’re pretty close and sometimes get mistaken for twins. they still bicker and annoy each other like any other typical sibling relationship, but they respect each other a lot and consider each other their greatest confidant. their relationship kinda ends up paralleling carmine and kieran’s own dynamic as siblings, with juliana and florian seeing each other as equals while the same can’t really be said for carmine and kieran.

what are both of their personalities?

while they’re both pretty level-headed, juliana is definitely the more outgoing and confident of the two. florian is more of the reserved type, someone who typically keeps to himself and would much rather wait in the wings than be center stage, ( too bad he’s basically the major protagonist of the story. ) they’re both fairly friendly, but he struggles connecting with others more when compared to his sister. essentially, they’re kinda like a dialed-back version of mabel and dipper pines. florian generally is a very sweet and open-hearted kid who tries to see the best in others, which often leads to his kindness being taken advantage of and getting pushed around easily, ( i.e. carmine convincing him to keep the secret about ogerpon from kieran. ) because of that, juliana is a little protective of him and isn’t afraid to step in when he struggles to stand up for himself. and while she does like to be seen as reliable, that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t encourage florian to be more confident and advocate for himself more. he does end up growing more of a backbone during the timeskip, which makes her very proud. meanwhile, juliana is a lot more outspoken and doesn’t hold back when things need to be called out. she’s still just as compassionate as her brother and is extremely reliable, along with having a very strong moral compass. she definitely fills the cool, reliable older sister role pretty well.

were they actually raised in paldea?

they grew up in galar like what’s implied in canon, but the details are a little different. they’re actually paldean on their mother’s side, who was originally from cabo poco herself. their family decided to move from wyndon back to her hometown after their father lost his job at one of macro cosmos’s now defunct finance subsidiaries. luckily, he was able to land a new desk job in medali and now larry’s his boss. ( the two get along well, they talk about their kids during lunch breaks. )

which storylines from the game are each of them the main character of?

juliana takes on the victory road and starfell street storylines while florian tackles the path of legends and filling out the pokédex, with both of them coming together for the way home. initially, i conceptualized them as co-protagonists and they still kinda are… but florian has definitely taken on the role as primary protagonist with how much shit keeps on just happening to him. i would expand the specifics of how the path of legends plays out for florian and how his friendship with arven develops, but i’ve already rambled enough so i’ll try to talk about that in another post.

hope this answers all your questions and sorry if it's a little long, i've just gotten attached to these kids and have a lot to say about them.

Violet updates:

- Dendra and Miriam are IN LOVE, you can’t tell me otherwise

- Dendra is also bffsies with Tulip, further cementing my thought that she and Miriam are together. Tulip = beautiful cute girl, Miriam = beautiful cute girl… Dendra has my type and taste in girls

- Had to fight Tulip twice because I wasn’t healed properly the first time lmao

- Glaseado Gym’s leader needs some serious therapy for that deep seated PTSD they have 🥺 And they need a lot of hugs.

- Ryme was SO COOL!!! I love her and Tyme!!!!

- Had to fight Ortega twice too, this time because I challenged him the first time around while being too underleveled. He’s sweet, if bratty.

- I also finished and passed every class through to their finals!!! And once I do the rest of Starfall Street, I want to finish the Pokémon League before doing the Path of Legends finale with Arven.

I keep thinking about how the AI Professor says ""I have been searching so long...for a way to reach you." (Followed by "Because... Because no one else can get into my lab but you." Rude) when they realize Arven is with the player and like... Why? Why weren't they able to reach them? The AI clearly can call out of the crater no issue. And despite the (justified) hate for his parent, I feel like Arven would have picked up. If its an issue of maybe the Professor or the AI having lost or deleted any form of contact they clearly could have gotten it back from Director Clavell and could have just veiled it with some white lie.

Did the professors maybe code it in to prevent the AI from contacting Arven for secrecy reasons? Did the AI start acting too much of a caring parent that the Professor had to intervene out of fear/shame/secrecy? Did the AI get in contact with Arven and that was shut down this way? Or was it just a throw away line they thought would sound heartwrenching enough?

I want to know why the AI is seemingly unable to contact Arven.
