Chapter 4

Michael had spent years waiting at this point. Perched awkwardly at the edge of a fence, or in this case chair, fingers nervously tapping out some unknown rhythm against the wooden armrest. He’d waited for years for his family to come back, to see him. And now that he had finally forced himself to acknowledge his family had already found him, had shown up with diner burgers and a milkshake to take him home. Now he felt he’d waited long enough and the impatience was beginning to wear at his seams.

And Isobel’s. If her side glances everytime he paced the room was anything to go off of, though he’d finally settled in a chair after Kyle had finally arrived. Fifteen minutes late.

Fifteen minutes of Michael being at his most frazzled and nervous. Like some kid getting ready for his first date. He leans further back in his seat, kicking his feet out from him as he watches Kyle check Max’s vitals. Watches Liz gnaw on her lip as she murmurs something about his blood pressure.

Isobel hovers, not much better than Michael’s nervous twitching.

Cautious optimism abandoned in favor of a heady joy. The bonds between the three of them seem stronger and sturdier when they share a space, even with Max still unconscious, his presence trapped behind glass.

“We good to go?” Isobel asks. Voice strained. She’s wearing all black, her exercise clothes and thick black eyeliner, a kind of armor. One that is supposed to protect her from the hurt that will follow any fight with Max.

Do you really think Kyle is actually in love with  Isabel or do you think he is still in love with Liz and Isabel was kind of like a good possible rebound but now she’s seems to him more desirable because she’s with someone else? Because I personally still think Kyle is still in love with liz but he can’t ever be with her so he just deflect his feelings onto Isabel. What do you think?

This is a good question! While I don't necessarily think he's still in love with Liz, I also don't think he's necessarily in love with Isobel? To me it seemed more that:

1) He doesn't have to lie to her about everything that's going on in his life

2) He loves to be needed and take care of people, and while she's strong on her own and he respects her, literally ALL of roswell and the podsquad could not survive 30 days without Kyle Valenti

3) What you mentioned about her being a good rebound that is now also emotionally unavailable

Only 2 more episodes left, and this might be more painful then the torture I put myself through to see pretty little liars to the end. Malex gets engaged but Alexis dieing. I legitimately don't understand the trajectory of Liz's arc, max is still useless and somehow the shivani plot line got dumber, Clyde is without a doubt the least interesting villain in the history of this show. Not even Rosa and kybel could save this episode for me. I'm going to be real salty and take a wild stab that the show will end with Malex getting married and Alex getting shoved into a pod so Liz and Kyle can have time to save him.

I sweat to the little green men, that if I don't get Sanders, Flint, and Greg at the wedding I will riot. They owe Alex fans to at least have one family member at his wedding. 🍤🍤🍤

Ooof I think you might be onto something there with them ending the season/series with Alex getting put in the pod. We'll be lucky if we get a handprint scene but I don't trust the writers to do it justice.

Ehhh I could do without Greg lol but otherwise yes give me Sanders and Flint at the wedding!! It's not like the podsquad (with the exception of Kyle) has been super supportive or familial to either Alex or Michael smdh

After a rocky start to the season I have really enjoyed these last couple of episodes, 4x07 had so much good things in it loved the whole Isobel and Dallas mindscape team up I love that they have given Dallas so much development this season and literally these are two people who have chemistry with everyone. Man I have missed Rosa so much and seeing her living her best life in NY made me so happy and I have missed my Ortecho SIsters so much, good old OG podsquad scenes it has been far to long since we had them and they did not disappoint, very curious what Tezca as Isobel’s teacher means, loved the reveal that Alex was the one behind trying to communicate with Maria FINALLY we are moving that plot forward however there is still a bunch I dislike, Tezca 2.0 has been such a letdown if Sonya isn’t sticking around sort of wish they had kept that actress as Tezca she was so much better, we are still spending far to much time on Bonnie and Clyde two characters who I just don’t care about, I also still think Liz is being far too trusting when it comes to Shivani. overall I have enjoyed these last two episodes so much more than I have the rest of the season so fingers crossed we can only go up from here as the last 6 episodes playout

here’s the thing: it’s not that i don’t believe liz ortecho is a good person or has a good heart but... did kyle ever asked her to do this? to find a cure for steph’s disease? to go behind max’s and the rest of the podsquad like this or to lie to them. i don’t think she ever considered he might not be interested in whatever way she is trying to repay him if she continues to do shady shit like this. this is giving me anxiety

👀 What’s an idea you had for a fic that you never did anything with?

This one has bothered me forever that I never did anything with, but it was an exploration of how mental health touched everyone in the podsquad. It would be a malex focus ofc but with Alex dealing with a deep depression after his amputation and Michael being afraid of it because his mom died by suicide from her own depression. Then looking at Isobel's situation after her abusive relationship with Noah, Max's anger issues, Liz dealing with Rosa's bipolar, and Kyle growing up with an alcoholic father. Maybe someday I'll write it, but for now, it just lives in my head.

This is from a dark fic I've been trying to write after we found out about Michael's dad being the dictator:

"Tell me what you desire," he begs.

"Everything you've given your father. It should be ours." Alex whispers, bringing his mouth against Michael's ear. "He sits on the Oasis, demands you conquer this planet and that one and once you do, he goes to the planet and demands they worship him. He's nothing without you. This should be ours, the entire universe."

Michael grabs Alex's head by his hair and yanks him off of him, throwing him to the ground. "You forget your place," Michael hisses, his blood on fire.

"My place?" he repeats, anger growing on his face. "Where is my place, Michael? For years you've kept me, trained with me, fought with me at your side. What's it all been for if not for us to take it all for ourselves? He's using you, Michael, and you can't even see it."

Michael snarls, "Just because you killed your father doesn't mean you can poison my relationship with mine."
