Hi! Do you have any tips how to not lose interest in a story and be enough interested to start/do write if? Personally I just get hyperfixated on a story idea I have, do the brainstorming, even the planning, sometimes world building and if I get serious I make lists about almost everything but never end up writing even if I have interest still, but at most cases at the point I could start writing I just loose interest and get bored of a story when I'm done figuring out what it'll be about and maybe because I don't really like thinking about the climax or the end of the story...

Hyperfixation on Planning Story, But Can't Write It

I do have some tips on rekindling your interest in your story, which I'll link below, but first I think it's worth addressing the specific issues you mentioned: that you don't like to think about the climax or end of the story.

Have you thought at all about why you feel that way? There are a few potential reasons I can think of:

1 - Your story doesn't have a conflict, so your story doesn't have a natural climax or ending. Stories revolve around conflict, or in other words a problem that needs to be solved. This problem could be in the character's heart and mind (internal conflict), in the character's situation/life/world (external conflict), or you can have both at the same time. Many stories these days have a parallel internal and external conflict. Stories are ultimately about someone (or a bunch of someones) trying to solve a problem. In order to solve that problem, they need to reach a particular goal or accomplish a particular thing. The bulk of the story will be their struggle to reach this goal as they overcome the obstacles along the way. The climax of the story is where they face down the cause of the conflict once and for all, whether that's a villain (like an evil wizard or corrupt corporation) or a force (like illness or a natural disaster) and try to solve the problem once and for all. Everything after that is the aftermath... whether they succeeded or failed, patching up their "wounds" from the "battle" (again, it doesn't have to be actual wounds or an actual battle), and settling into the post-conflict life. That's your ending.

2 - You have a conflict, but haven't figured out how it would be resolved, so the climax and ending are fuzzy. If you have a conflict but aren't sure how it would be resolved, it might help to think of the conflict as a problem that needs to be solved. For example, in The Hunger Games, the conflict was the Hunger Games Event... the problem was that Katniss volunteered to compete which put her life at risk. So the solution to the problem was to survive the event.

3 - You know what the climax and ending are, but you are enjoying the characters and world and don't want the story to end. This is one I think many writers can relate to. It can be really hard to let go of a story when you've enjoyed writing it, have gotten attached to the characters, and feel comfortable/familiar with the world. It can also be a little scary to think about diving into a whole new story. But, we do have to learn to let go of stories when they're finished and let them come to their natural conclusion. You can always go back to the world and characters, even if just for yourself, later on. It wouldn't be weird to write "fan-fiction" of your own story, and many writers turn these kinds of stories into prequels, sequels, companion series, and companion short stories that their readers enjoy, too.

Being a villain and councilwoman is exhausting and often takes a toll on her both mentally and physically. ✦ She'd look for something to do that helps take her mind off everything for a while. A quiet little getaway. Perhaps renting an Airbnb or going remote to take a load off will help. ✦ Or, something simple. She loves the simplicity of a good old-fashioned picnic. These are the kind of days or nights where you can do most anything. Want to jam out? Sure, pick a playlist! I Spy? Yeah! He'll hype up whatever idea you come up with. And at every stop sign or red light, he always leans over for a quick kiss!

✦ This gentle giant is just tooth-rotting sweet. He is the most doting and loving person you've ever met. He kisses the back of your hand each time he greets you. He escorts you with your arm in his everywhere you go. He has a whole picture album on his phone full of pictures of you. ✦ He uses his horse as his main transportation to get around, and if you're comfortable, it's how he gets you around also. However, he is more than willing to use other means if needed. ✦ He's more on the traditional side, somewhat contradicting his punkish ways back then. Now, he's all for those charming little walks on the street or even visiting a museum or gallery. ✦ But nothing beats those nights where you both are at home and have a candlelit dinner. Sometimes the main dish is something new you both haven't tried. When it really comes down to it, you both enjoy and savor it all.

heyy i was wondering, since we already know Cam really likes music (especially kpop), if we could know what the other characters' taste in music is like? mostly how often they listen to it, what genres they like and whatnot. just out of curiosity :)

and what about movie genres? we know Deja and MC often watch movies together while Deja paints her nails, but does she care for the genre? and everyone else?

really loved the demo, i can't wait to see how the game develops. thank you and everyone who's working on this game for all your hard work 🫶

Music Tastes

Haha now for your ask, we actually have a scene for players in the extended demo regarding this! It's a bit of a spoiler in the context of the scene's theme so I won't disclose it quite yet (sorryyyy gotta wait for the extended demo first ahdakldh) but I can say this:

Elio and Cameron often listen to music. For Cameron, it's because it's one of their favorite pastimes. Plus, in their opinion, music makes the commute to and from campus faster.

Elio on the other hand listens to music a lot because of the dance team. Anddd because he's dabbled a bit with playing (if others haven't seen the previous post yet, he's our guy with a ton of skills so he actually knows how to play a couple of instruments).

Though they've got their reasons, Cameron's definitely coming out on top with the highest stats on their Spotify wrap.

Third would be Reynah and actually you don't get to learn about her favorite type of music since she's not in the scene so I will disclose her favs! She's big on old school music, early late 1980's and early 1990's! Anything goes within that time frame, hip-hop, pop, rock, ballads, etc.. She does listen to modern music, but she's got a couple of fond memories of her parents playing older tunes during car rides so they've stuck with her.

Deja, Percy, and Jamie have their favorites of course but their numbers don't come as close to the other three.

Speaking of music, we curated some playlists about the cast! Some players already came across the playlists on our art director's Spotify that is catered to the idea of them, so songs that give off Cameron, Deja, etc. energy. And I actually got to work on making playlists about the music they'd listen to.

You can listen to the first since it's public. This is what the some of the dev team members listen to for the Keyframes vibes when we're working! And you can check out their page for specific cast members. But I'll share the ones about their music taste when I get them done!

Movies/Media Taste

Oh movies is a cute thought!

Unfortunately, Deja doesn't care to watch movies, hence why she opts to do her nails during it. She's got a habit of looking things up ahead of time as well so "watching" isn't something she likes to do. That being said, she likes mystery genres or things that she can think about-- because the twists and themes are still interesting to her even if she spoils it for herself lol

Cameron's got their favorites when they're by themself but they're big on anything and everything with company! Ghibli movies are a good thing to shout to get their attention (they've seen Ponyo like too many times to count haha). Cringey stuff are a safe and hilarious genre for them to put on when they crash at your place, too.

But since MC is a part of their dynamic trio, a lot of what Deja and Cameron watch is ultimately shaped by MC's likes too! Since Deja doesn't have too much of an opinion and Cameron's down to watch anything, your likes are their likes! Granted they'll tell you if it's reallyyyy bad because that's what friends are for lol

Reynah's not too big on films either- but in the way that she just doesn't watch them by herself. Usually, it's other people inviting her to watch one, and she's always happy to tag along and share any opinions about the viewing (they're usually in good light if not critical). That being said, she does have her favorites! It's just hard to say she likes one genre when she hasn't seen everything and she's found gems across multiple genres.

Reynah, at some point probably: I love Night at the Museum, does that mean I like fantasy or comedy the best? Nope!

For the guysssss, you can expect foreign movies (Japanese, Thai, and Euro movies are often exchanged since they've got their favorites from childhood), and romcoms and early '00-'10 movies. The latter is because they firmly believe that's the best era of movies. Home Alone, Lord of the Rings, 27 Dresses, The Last Holiday, etc, etc.

Percy, at one point: They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Elio, shaking his head solemnly: Kids these days won't get to know true movie magic.

Jamie tilts his head: Sorry, what's High School Musical?

P & E: WHAT

Aha yeah, Jamie didn't grow up watching the same things they did. He knows some of them like LOTR but that's just because it's a big franchise. Before his roommates educated him on early American romcoms and feel good movies (which included an HSM marathon and the entire soundtrack on repeat at their place), Jamie stuck to the classics/big names- things that have left a mark in cinema history like the Godfather and the Breakfast Club.

That kind of media is actually what he, Deja, and Reynah bond over. It's the symbolism or the overarching theme that tends to keep their interests so they'll have discussions about it if it comes up. Ah, and, horror. All three of them are completely unbothered by it as a genre and boy are there plenty to talk about the human psyche and behavior there.

If I had to summarize everything:

Jamie, Deja, and Reynah like films that invoke thought. Especially as people who don't often watch movies.

Meanwhile, Cameron, Percy, and Elio are all for the ones that evoke emotion. It's a good movie if they cry. It's a good movie if they're shouting at the screen. It's fantastic film if they get to do both!

Other things about movies for them:

Percy won't watch any horror- nope don't even think about asking him to.

Elio will look at a stunt or a choreography in a film and attempt it himself at least once.

Jamie is the first in his seat with a bowl of popcorn when the guys are doing their movie nights. He also has a sour view of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle since some people have said he looks like the character.

Cameron would suggest repeats a lot during your movie nights- their favorites are their favorites for a reason.

Deja rarely reacts to movies- but she will never recover from Grave of the Fireflies.

Reynah, freshman year, had been invited to 18 different playtimes at the town's cinema over the course of two months and, yes, she saw all of them.

Beloved, this is literally my love language and you KNOW that 💖💖💖 A few of these are either not quite middle-aged or only one of the two members is, but here we go:

Allen Hynek & Michael Quinn, Project Blue Book- Listen, I know Allen Hynek was a real person, but the version of him in this TV series is very fictional and my version is even more so 🤣My top WIP right now is an aromantic-Allen fic which I am going to tentatively say is ALMOST done. It's what I'm usually working on in sprints (and I'm going to say something bold here: there's one passage in this that may be some of my favorite words I've ever written.) This pairing has the cocky fighter pilot/nerdy professor dynamic we've all been waiting for. The show is enjoyable if not outstanding, cancelled 1 season before it should have ended, and the fandom is not nearly big enough.

Irving & Burt, Severance- The ULTIMATE canon yearning! I've been working on a fic about them for months, but the fact that there's so much mystery associated with this show means that trying to write a romantic interaction with them outside of Lumon is proving complicated, lol. I've written pretty much all of it except the part that requires any explanation of the logistics of this show's universe. IDK, I am just deeply drawn to the vulnerability of two people whose knowledge of each other is confined to this very limited existence, stepping outside of that place's boundaries and discovering each other in the process. This fic has Irv and Burt flirting over classical music as well; between pieces I'm going to mention in the fic and other non-classical pieces that remind me of the pairing, I'm tempted to include a playlist along with this when I publish it.

Ted Lasso & Trent Crimm, Ted Lasso- Okay, okay, I don't have any solid WIPs about these two at the moment (there's one I started a long time ago that is in sleep mode until I figure out what I want to do with it), but Season 3 premieres March 15th and Trent Crimm apparently plays a "significant role" in it, so you KNOW I will have ideas in the very near future. I enjoy writing these two so much; they have such unique voices and that is so much fun to play with as a writer. Plus this trope is like grumpy/sunshine if the sunshine was secretly a clinically anxious mess of a human and the grumpy's harsh exterior was only a facade and he was unexpectedly very willing to have an open mind and see the good in someone.

Murray Bauman & Alexei, Stranger Things- (Alexei probably isn't quite "middle aged" here, but I'm including this anyway) Another underrated pairing, but I love their dynamic. Two people on opposite sides who could very easily be bitter enemies, but who (in the show, in canon) instead bond with each other so quickly! They snark and sass, but Murray is quite literally the only person who speaks Alexei's language, in personality as well as in actual words. I've already written fic for them, and I thought that was gonna be it, but I have more to say, lol

There are so many more middle-aged gays I love but haven't written for too! Truly we are in our best era with all of these wonderful pairings.

Jason’s Hellfire Club List

I really don’t know how to like properly communicate at all but especially on tumblr because I don’t rlly post much but I am thinking thoughts (a rare occurrence) therefore you need to hear them

so in s4 episode 5 there’s a scene where Jason shows the basketball team (minus Lucas) a list of places to search and I think it’s really interesting so

Here is the list I was talking about, hopefully you can read it but if not the attempted image id is underneath keep reading

There are lots of interesting things about this I think

wheelers is crossed out, suggesting that Jason/ the basketball team already talked to any or all of the Wheelers (I know he speaks to Nancy but that's in episode 8 and I'm not entirely sure what was said because to be perfectly honest I'm a bad person who hasn't watched all of season four yet and has just spoiled it tremendously for themself) edit: a more likely explanation is that Mike just wasn’t there so they couldn’t talk to him, but interesting they put wheelers rather than his whole name like they did Dustin’s, and it’s plural

Big buy is not referring so some European brand I just found out existed by googling it, but actually is the name of a supermartket that I think El stole the Eggos from in S1, the full name is Bradley's Big Buy, just a cool easter eggo

Drama class being on this list most likely means that Hellfire itself is hosted in the theater room, which is what the wiki says. We know this because of "the stage lights, curtains and props seen around them during game night" which I never noticed because I don't pay very close attention. However, in order to gain access to the theater room, one or more of the Hellfire kids must also know the drama teacher and probably really like drama well, which is awesome. Theater kids who also play dnd unite (even though I haven't actually done anything yet because I never finished my character sheet, that doesn't matter)

I have no idea what thacher tike is. None at all. Google was completely unhelpful, I genuinely have no clue. Perhaps a smart person will see this and connect dots I didn't think of but I know nothing

I think it's interesting that (Jason thinks at least) Hellfire is hosted at the elementary school, when we've seen Hellfire meetings hosted in the theater room, and it makes no sense to have high schoolers in the elementary school. It's also odd that Jason writes the av closet specifically, when the av room is tied to the party but especially Mike and Will (although that may be my byler brain slanting it that way). Especially saying closet instead of room hmmm closet imagery...

There have been many posts from far more intelligent people about how the library is tied to everything (Will being found at he lirary, Nancy saying Barb was at the library, Nancy + Robin finding information on the Creels in the library, Hopper finding information on the experiments in the library plus his relationship (used not romantically but as two people that are connected) with the librarian and I think it's interesting (drinking game take a shot everytime I say interesting) how Hellfire is also tied to the library.

Weird that Jeff and Gareth are lumped together as Hellfire members but Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Paul Cook (whoever he may be) are listed seperately. Perhaps because those other people are more important

Paul Cook is as it turns out a very common name, but one of the more famous ones is Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols. There appear to be no links from Sex Pistols to Stranger Things, no Sex Pistols played on the show, although they may be on a charavter playlist, I'm not sure. I don't think any other Paul Cooks are relevant to the show but who knows.

I have no idea what most of these actually mean or how they affect anything, it probably doesn't matter at all, but this post was fun to make and hey, first proper tumblr post with my own writing, more than like a sentence! hooray

I hope at least some of this made sense and maybe someone talented will see it and expand on it but for now this is all I have

Fuck this is difficult I ship pretty much everything, I have a veritable fleat of ship by this point, even just counting DC. And like I have favourites but tbh it depends on the moment and want I'm craving for a story, or even what fic I'm reading.

But if we go with ships I have more ideas I want to explore I can whittle it down to:

BruJay, JaySteph, HoodHunter (aka Bao/Jason)

I'm in rare pair hell, if only because for the first two there are very few authors that write them the way I interpret them

With the honourable mention of HoodStroke (aka SladeJay), JayTalia, JayTera, and any and all combination of them (plus occasionally Bruce) in a polycule

Also let's not forget the Gotham polycule of Jay/Steph/Roy/Lonnie/Bao/Duke/Harper that appears in many of my ideas, usually not the full hand, but I love to squish this kids together (btw the Roy there is a mesh of Young Justice, RHatO, and post-crisis, and usually a clone of the original Roy, you know, because I like to make my life more complicated)

2, 7, 17 (I don’t want to go through all 77 again oh god. Plus I would ask you far too many questions. Love you! 💝)

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

It really depends. Most of the time it is write as I go, but I usually have some sort of idea of what I need/want to happen in a chapter. For the current chapter of my current WIP TBPWYAD that needs to be worked on/published I ended up outlining everything because I know what I want to write I just have no idea how. So if I know I need something I'll sometimes outline it, but usually it's writing out of my ass.

7. How do you choose which POV you write from?

Lmao so when I first saw this question on the original post I thought it meant first person vs third person (answer: I never write first person for fics; and then for original fiction it really depends on the feel of the story for me) then I realized just now it might actually be referring to like character POV. So with my spn fics, especially TBPWYAD, I feel most comfortable writing in Dean's perspective because he is the character I relate to the most so that POV/flow comes the most naturally. But if you or anyone has read my current fic they know it's in third person omniscient and that I do explore many character's POVs, even if only for a sentence.

With that third person omniscient and deciding when to switch perspectives/whose head I want to be in, I often think about it through the lens of a TV show and what I want to show the audience/what I want the reader to see. So like even one sentence in a different character's head before switching back to whoever is currently carrying the thread is like that one shot on a character where we get to see what they're thinking/feeling even if no one else does.

And with TBPWYAD a lot of it has to do with story. Cas is in the Empty and Dean, Sam, and Jack are on earth. Even predominantly writing Dean POV we still have to switch to Cas if we want to know what's happening in the Empty. And sometimes I just want to slip in a little something a character is thinking/feeling so that comes out lol. And other times I use it to build tension (like in Chapter 6: Devil in Disguise) we know that Lucifer has just shown up at the Bunker about to fuck shit up, but we cut to Michael and Jack talking and then Michael prepping to face Lucifer when he's confronted by two beings and we know Michael has had some sort of talk with someone but everyone else doesn't and knowing how the 15x19 and 15x20 go, there is the question/tension of is Michael going to betray the gang or is he going to keep fighting Chuck to get back his love Adam (another fun thing with doing Michael's POV in this fic is me pushing the midam agenda lol)

And even with the Dean primary POV switching to the others' perspective goes into whose story do I want to tell and what knowledge/information do I want to reveal to the audience. (Sorry that was a big ramble one lmao)

17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block

FUCK. Well considering my fic has been on hiatus and hasn't been updated in over a year my answer is: i don't know. Although a lot of that does have to do with busy life so let's see.

Hm. I usually have a writing playlist that helps get me in the mood/mindset so I try to see if that helps me. I will also go back and read my work of what I've already done to see if there's any loose threads or ideas I've laid the groundwork for but haven't gotten to explore as of yet. I'll try seeing if there's anything in the story that I want and am able to write and go there (which is why in a previous ask I answered I mentioned future chapters even though the current one isnt written lmao). If I have writer's block on a particular scene I'll try writing around it and see if that helps. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Or I ever-so-helpfully just go on hiatus for a year and then fill with existential dread everytime I think about this block I need to conquer lmao

39. Share a snippet from a WIP

So these asks have made me think about and also go back to TBPWYAD again and make me excited and want to talk about it (I think evidenced by my rambly answers lmao). So I really want to share a snippet from the current chapter I'm slowly but surely working on (The Famous Final Scene) <- and a little title easter egg as well

Meg glanced over her shoulder in the direction of the angels they’d just left behind. “That could’ve gone a lot better.”

“We weren’t immediately killed on sight, they heard me out despite the two demons at my side and my many sins on earth, and they let us leave unharmed. I would count that as a success,” Cas said, ignoring the tightness in his back from holding his wings still so long. They hurt if he moved them, they hurt if he kept them still, he’d long ago accepted there was nothing he could do to fix what he was: broken. “Whether they’ll actually go through the portal—”

“Oh they’ll go through the portal, Cassie,” Crowley interrupted, sulking at his side with his hands shoved in the pockets of his overcoat. “They’d be insane not to, especially after you had the Empty broadcast to everyone and their mother that they get to live again if they just get through the bloody thing. Even made sure they have to fight against God in the deal, cookie for you. Where that leaves humanity at the end of all of this, now that’s another question entirely.”

44. What mistakes do you keep making no matter how many times your beta corrects you?

LMAO. So I wanted to answer this one because I'm currently in a fiction workshop at my university and reading other people's stories is killing me slowly, but I also have been giving a comment that my betas WITHOUT FAIL give me everytime I send them a new chapter: "but how does a character feel about this?" and it's just personally hilarious to me. When writing I try to get down the plot and the happenings and think I've expressed how a character feels without actually giving time/space to do so, so my betas are very helpful in always pointing those moments out to me.

52. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

So I'll round it off with this one because I'll otherwise probably answer way too many. I always respond to comments, usually if it doesn't happen right when I posted the chapter the fic was commented on, I wait until I'm getting ready to post the next chapter. So when I finally respond to the three unanswered comments on my fic that have been sitting in my inbox for the past year, it's a herald that I've probably sent the new chapter off to my betas and there'll be an update in the next couple weeks lol. But I respond because I love comments. They always fill me with joy to receive, especially since someone took time out of their day to write something nice about my writing (there is of course the trepidation of potentially getting a negative comment but knock on wood it hasn't happened yet). It's an opportunity to talk about my fic maybe a little more, or it's just appreciating the readers appreciating my fic. Their comments say they see my writing, and me responding is me letting them know I see them back.

Hold you tight, I don't wanna to back to the lonely life.]" Alec opened up his eyes and he'll never be the same.

I'd Like To Walk Around In Your Mind was added from Maurice's perspective. Perhaps it fits Alec too...

I think Love At First Sight has the double meaning of the literal title, as well as "wouldn't you like to kiss her" perhaps being... Something Maurice would hear.

Every lyric is perhaps pulled straight from Alec's brain, to be honest. I remember seeing a post with this song in other contexts with them too. So yes, a few meanings.

Alec really toughed it out, 2 days he spent in the boathouse, really wanted to see Maurice, really knew they had something, and doesn't want to be treated like a dog. Generally, his 1st letter.

Moon Song. My friend said they added it as a general love song. — Why do you treat me like this? Why didn't you come to the boathouse? — Alec's 2nd letter as a whole. Plus bits of 1st.

Wildest Dreams. They think a lot of each other. They share once more. But they must say goodbye. Alec saw this coming. Maurice hopes that Alec will remember him like this.

I Hear a Symphony. Alec truly opened up Maurice's eyes. Maurice was meant to be with him. He helped Maurice, changed his life. But now Alec is leaving on ship... Or is he? The symphony leads into...

An orchestral sountrack. The Boathouse. Unfortunately the Maurice soundtrack is not on spotify. It's on my personal YouTube music version. I added it because it just captures the boathouse the only way the sountrack itself can.

The Word of Your Body (Reprise). MLM people have moment of romantic tension, which culminates in confessions of love. Just had to add it. "Haven't you heard the word of your body?" perfectly describes Alec gifting and showing Maurice the wonder of truest physical affection and love. He lets Maurice be okay with himself, and again, changes everything. Every lyric is perfect.

Also, sorry JBW, I like other versions more... Too bad Spotify is mean.

I See The Light. Yeah. Every lyric. Maurice is Rapunzel. Movie Blond too. Both the morning at Russet room and the museum. And the world has somehow shifted. All at once everything is different, now that I see you. "By now they were in love with each other consciously."...

Suddenly Seymour. Suddenly see more, yeah? Clive = ass and someone gives him affection for once, wow! Sidenote, I want to sing this with them and their accents... Suddenly SCUDDER...

Helpless. Musical theatre songs seem to be good retellings of their love story. It's why they belong in post boathouse. Summaries and retellings. They're also good at conveying love they'd feel for each other in general, all times ever. Like loving men, retelling a story.

I'll Cover You. Cute love song feat. gays. I like to imagine them dancing around, declaring their love and devotion for each other. Walking and dancing around like in the original scene, sometime post canon. In my own imagination, I thought of Alec as Angel and Maurice (Christopher) as Collins.

Video Games. They must love spending time together. I thought this to be Maurice POV. Only worth living if somebody is loving you I mean, come on.

Electric Love. Fun fact: this song got me to share the playlist. Got me thinking about them and their anniversary again. The funky busy instrumental describes well their passionate love. The highs of electric LOOOOOOVE describe the intensity of them.

Hello!! I literally opened this blog to write to you. 🥺 I really liked your fanfictions about Leon x Ashley. I read nerve like four or five times, I'm wondering when will you update it again? And as the rain pours was amazing as well. You should update it because I want to see what will happen after that. 🤩 Not many people write for Ashley and Leon, I'm in need of more content about them. 😿 Have a good day or night angel!! 🌸

You... have NO idea how hard it is for me not to cry right now. I am so touched by your kind words and sweet compliments. Nerve is something I've been going back to off and on now for about four months. I haven't made a lot of progress though and trust me, it's driving me crazy how long it's been since an update.

Last year was tough as everyone knows. Covid happened, I was unemployed and I had to take care of my bf for the better part of 6+ months b/c he broke both of his ankles. To say I've been distracted is an understatement. Plus, dipping my toes into other fandoms deterred my mind even more. It still sits in the back of my mind though, that I need to work on it, do the research that needs to be done. The same thing for As the Rain Pours. You're right, not a lot of ppl write for Leon x Ashley b/c it's quite the rare pair and a lot of ppl dislike Ashley so much. Which is why I started the fics in the first place. Nerve is more difficult to crumble together b/c it's a completely different scenario. But trust me, I am still working on it. I don't know when I will update it or the both of them since writing takes a lot of time, at least for me it does. But I do not want to give up on either of them. I feel like my readers are depending on me to not only continue the stories but hash out the Leon x Ashley content that is so rare out there. I do not want to be deemed as a failure or that I've given up and forgotten about it.

With the recent release of Infinite Darkness, it has sparked up those long and dwindled thoughts, actually seeing the White House has brought back ideas and seeing Ashley’s father, President Graham, has peaked my interest again. It was only in pictures but seeing her again in the show... I’m not going to lie, I almost cried. I’ve finally started a playlist on spotify for them, songs that make me think of their relationship and what would be, platonic or not, scenes that I want to write, music that Ashley would listen to, the music that Leon plays in the car when he’s driving her around, music that Leon listens to when he needs the distraction in the next chapter, specific themed tracks that play at a particular location after Leon surprises Ashley with on her 21st birthday, music that plays over the speakers at a private gym while Leon teaches her self defense at after she complains about it being too quiet (btw, surprise :D), etc. I plan to maybe link it or share it with the next upload, if that’s possible. So it’s not dead. I do not wish to leave it in limbo or unfinished.

I hope to have an update soon, preferably for both but especially Nerve. It’s important to me. It’s important to me that people look forward to it and to not leave them hanging.

But... since your kindness has taken me fairly off guard (I hardly EVER get comments about the two fics so it makes my day when it does happen), I will let off with a sneak peek from the two chapters that I’ve been working on. These aren’t set in stone, it’s subject to change. But, thank you so much for taking the time to not only reach out to me but make a personal blog just for said reason alone. I’m baffled, honestly. Thank you for taking the time to read and admire my fics and writing. It’s surprising to me that as many ppl like it when I don’t feel that it’s that great in the first place. I’m no author, I just do this in my free time.

Nerve, Chapter 3, Control:

Leon stood comfortably still pulling on his trusty black finger less gloves as the door of the private gym opened and closed with a loud clunk, Ashley appearing through the doorway and making her way over to him, just like she had agreed she would. He's surprised, he figured she would have backed out at the last second, knowing full and well how unsure she still was of herself. And him.

Leon watches her glide across the room to him, an affirming and knowing smirk growing at the corners of his lips at her arrival, waiting for her to break the distance.

"Hi, Leon." She greets him brightly with a smile yet a little sluggish in her demeanor. She had dressed comfortably yet active like he had told her to, fitted joggers and a yellow fitted tank top that made her pale skin glow.

"Morning sunshine." He teases, knowing full and well that she was still tired.

“You… look so different. I mean, in your casual clothes.” Ashley observes and he did. She’d never seen him in anything but a suit, prim and proper, so this had been a nice surprise. He looked comfortable and relaxed in a heathered gray crew neck active tee, fixed with two moisture wicking stripes separating the planes of his sleeves from the tops of his shoulders down the length of his torso, black loose-fit performance shorts, black finger less tactical gloves and… barefoot? She knew of Leon’s towering height over her but his legs seemed so much longer than she had been imagining.

Stop staring, Ashley! Sheesh!

“Well, as much as I know you’d looove for me to train you in my suit and tie, that’s not very practical sweetheart, so, casual wear it is.” Leon replies jokingly. “And I could say the same thing for you. I like the hair, graham cracker!” He cheerfully praises, having noticed the vibrant coral tips of the ends of her hair and bangs she had no doubt dyed, his fingers gently flicking at her loose strands. “It suits you. Very pretty.” He tells her with a wink, his blatant flattery lighting her cheeks crimson.

“It’s just… something different, y’know? I don’t know, I was just wanting a change. It’s temporary anyways. It’ll wash out.” Ashley rambles, fumbling and playing with her hair. “You should let me dye yours sometime!” She giddily suggests.

Leon chuckles with a snort. “Oh, I’m sure your father and the other agents would love seeing me walk around with pink hair!”

“I was thinking more of blue actually. It’s fun! You should try it!”

“Mhmm.” Leon hums playfully, just imagining how ridiculous he would look. Well… maybe…

“It washes out!” Ashley croons in an attempt to persuade him.

"Maybe someday, Ash… but how are we feeling this morning?" He asks with genuine curiosity.

It’s a small noise from her, a rumble that threatens to break in her chest as her fingers routinely fidget with the hem of her shirt, shuffling her feet a bit in her nervousness.

“I-I’m okay.” She replies yet her assurance does not sit well with him, unconfident and unsure. Leon squints his gaze at her, teasingly suspicious and she can’t help but huff out a laugh. She doesn’t know why she even bothers, nothing was going to get past Leon. Her gaze had fallen routinely to the floor, a habit he was going to have to work hard to break her out of. His long fingers cup and curl under her chin gently to raise her gaze back up to his level, remembering his advice to her to keep her gaze forward.

“Okay but how do you really feel?” Leon inquires again, his tone serious. She doesn’t reply right away, the cheerful brightness she held with her faltering a little. She wouldn’t be able to hide these things from Leon, not with how close they were going to be and not just physically. Her mental state and concerns were important to him.

“I… I’m nervous. Kinda scared. Tired, I--I didn’t get a lot of sleep.” She finally manages, her voice breaking in the whisper she didn’t know she was speaking in. Leon nods, removing his hand from her face.

“Good. I’d rather you be honest with me. Your nerves will pass the more you get used to it. And don’t be afraid. You know I’m not going to hurt you but I don’t want you to be afraid to get hurt. Remember what I said that this could get rough.” She nods, understanding.

“Alright, shoes and socks off.” He instructively demands and she does as she’s asked, toeing out of her sneakers and yanking off her socks, leaving them in a pile to deal with later. Leon nods for her to follow him and she does so, leading her to the panel of mirrors.

As the Rain Pours, Chapter 2, Friends Who Do This:

“No, I want to see you.” Leon shoos away her shaking arms gently. He moved to the floor before where she stood, his nose brushing against the plane of her abdomen before kissing her skin. “So gorgeous.” He tells her. She bit at her bottom lip as she watched him, his tongue drawing circles around her navel, nearly making her legs buckle below her.

“How come I’m the only one in my underwear?” She breathlessly asks as his lips move dangerously closer to the dip under her hips. He grins up to her before standing, pulling his shirt over his head and climbing out of his shorts.

She gaped in awe at him, all muscle and skin that rippled under his flesh. Silky skin between the litterings of past scars, the straight line of the mark near his collarbone where he had had past surgery and the faint mark of a gunshot wound on his left shoulder that she knew about. She wanted to touch them, brand them as hers, show him that he didn’t need to be self conscious of them because she was aware he was, always keeping himself covered. His hands push her back against the edge of the bed before moving to the floor again, nestling comfortably between her thin legs.

Curious lips kissed at the tender skin between her inner thighs, picking up where they had left off back in the woods. Leon had every intention to finish what he had wanted to start, especially with the stunning information that she had never experienced such givings before but as his warm breath drew nearer, his wanting mouth near inches from her, she pulled away again against Leon’s boyish whine of disapproval.

“No?” Leon asks, his fingers tickling circles on her thighs.

“Leon, it’s okay, really…”

“You don’t want me to?” He asks, confused. He thought maybe she had freaked out due to the fact they had been outside and presumed maybe she’d feel better about it in a more private setting but she still seemed unsure about it.

“I mean, I-- I don’t know, I just thought… I thought we could, y’know, you and me-”

“You thought I brought you back here for a quick fuck, is that it?” He clearly takes the words right out of her thought process, the judgement slicing right through her. His hands move to her face, thumbs caressing and smoothing against soft skin.

“That’s not what I want Ashley. Not yet. If you really don’t want me to, that’s okay but… you should at least try it, even if it’s just this once.”

“Leon… it can’t taste that good, I mean-”

“Why don’t you let me be the judge of that, sweetheart.”

Okay, he was being serious…

She stared dumbfounded at him, hardly still believing that she was there with him, in front of him, nearly naked.

“I wanna hear you moan, make you writhe against the sheets below me… I want to make you come against my tongue.” He so boldly announces with definite confidence. Ashley’s eyes widened, she didn't know Leon to be into this kind of dirty talk. She breathes nervous giggles behind lacquered fingers covering her face, the heat having risen into her cheeks. She’s already losing control of her breathing as she feels him move back between her thighs, peeking over the edges of her fingertips.

“Please, let me,” He begs softly with earnest eyes. “You can tell me to stop any time if you do not wish to continue. I promise, I’m not going to hurt you. Please?”
