shadow playlist ramble cont (part 2)

WHATEVER.

Healing takes time. Grief and trauma comes in waves, and it manifests in ways you don't expect. (Trigger warnings for this song include references to suicide. I don't mention either in this post though) This song also has romantic connotations in some spots but I ignore it because its MY brain and I get to choose what is included in my daydreams.

Shadow's situation as somebody with memory problems who probably still remembers the face of somebody he loved, somebody who was his family, somebody who he can associate feelings and bits and pieces to, but the majority of them being flashes of his most traumatic memory with them.

It's common to see glimpses of people you've lost when you know they shouldn't be there. Shadow has a lot of emotional walls, yes. But he is not completely impervious. He risked his life to save a complete and arguably untrustworthy stranger because she reminded him of his dead sister. He saw Maria's eyes in Rouge and it called upon a memory that had not yet resurfaced. I still think he yearns for the support and warmth in a family unit. (That he definitely has in Rouge and Omega and co) Shadow is a lonely person. He pushes others away in order to not feel the same hurt he once felt, that once defined him, but he wants what comes before the hurt all the same.

The fact that some people can equate an entire musical genre to just its stereotypes and never listen to it is baffling to me. Something I love about rtgame is that when i watch other people play unpacking and they get to the toxic boyfriend's apartment and they find out that they can't hang up their diploma anywhere, most of their reactions are usually along the lines of "awwwww that's so sad :(" and be understandably upset for the mc... but rt? he takes it a step further and starts messing with the boyfriend's shit, mocking his male living space, actively cheering for this relationship to end as soon as possible "'so are you done unpacking-' 'i want to break up'" and most importantly hiding the bf's ties in random, hard to see locations.

Solarpunk Community Playlists

So we've got the community playlist for Solarpunk Aesthetic Week, right? It's nice and big, but I wanted to make more community playlists with specific vibes in mind! I've already added a bunch of songs to each, but the goal is to let everyone contribute to them and enjoy them!

Solarpunk and Chill is for lofi/chill beats! The aim is to have it be mostly lofi, or generally just good music to chill to while studying or working on projects!

Solarpunk Sunny Beats is for songs that are pretty upbeat and just feel solarpunk to us--whether its the subject matter of the song, or just the way the instruments sound! It's meant to be the middle ground between the lofi playlist and the next.

Solarpunks Fight for Our Future! is for songs that are punk/punky/rebellious-feeling! The kind of playlist you would bump to on the way to a protest, or do some action--what's the soundtrack that plays in your head if you were to guerrilla garden or do other rebellious acts? Add it here!

Ok but during Playing With the Big Boys at the very end when the music is crescendoing, and you see the magician's snakes crawling after Moses' snake to kill it and there's no way it will survive. and the magicians are taunting Moses and laughing in his face and trying to overwhelm him with their evil magic and making fun of him and his Lord. and they're moving around him and throwing magic everywhere and telling him that they are the ones in power, not he, that his simple snake is nothing because they can do anything he can do, and they will always triumph over him with their gods. and then the scene shifts and the shadow of Moses' snake is thrown on the wall in the firelight, and it snatches and devours both of the magicians' snakes while the music swells to a finale. the magicians were only just boasting that they are more powerful than Moses and his God, and now their snakes are dead. devoured. their words no longer mean anything. they follow endless gods, and yet those gods could do nothing in the face of Moses' God, and and and

I think about this post all the time so I made a playlist based on the concept

Content warning for the songs in the playlist: flashing lights and bright images, loud sounds and jumpscares, disturbing imagery and lyrics, photos and videos of real bugs and insects

I organized the songs from what I think is most palatable to the average listener to least palatable, but you can also listen to it on shuffle and I think it'd give a similar feeling. Let me know if you do end up checking out the playlist! I'm curious to hear reactions to some of these songs

In my head this song would take place post '06. But like. an '06 where Shadow doesn't join the government organization that killed his family. I believe in a Shadow the Hedgehog that's firm in his motivations to get better. He is not going to follow the path set by others anymore. No ghosts to keep him tethered to a painful past, but a lantern of light to follow that leads him to a brighter future. I made art to this song. I made a post to this song. This song is Shadow's goodbye letter to the Shadow he was. The Shadow he can't remember. The Shadow that he can never be again.

So my fiancé looked up the Neck Kisses playlist on desktop since I’ve been looking on mobile & I have learned two things:

1. This playlist was started in Dec 2023. So it doesn’t seem like an April Fool’s prank. This man has been working on this for months. The most recent additions were two weeks ago. He continues to work on this.

2. There’s a lot of Taylor Swift on this playlist that I didn’t see because I have Taylor Swift blocked on Spotify & now I have to go unblock her just so I can listen to the songs on this playlist, because I NEED to know what T Swift Joel thinks of as being Boat Boys songs.
