I have this idea that instead of water creatures and cryptids luring humans to drown, it’s the humans doing the luring. Of course Johnny would never do something like that but Caro’s still cautious about this pretty boy who’s floated into their swamp on his little dingy. But not so cautious itll stop them from wanting to poke his face.

I mentioned this in the first post, but Henry’s very much a outsider within their own herd - as a whole, the other selkies tend to stay pretty far from humans, and actively discourage interactions with them. Though, knowing Henry, that went as well as you’d think LOL

Henry’s coat / form is a California Sea Lion, and in Seal form, they’re about 8 feet from top to tail. In human form, they fall a little under 8 feet, but still, pretty big!

Henry’s coat is actually not the biggest importance to them; once they saw you, they knew that someday, you would have their coat whether you wanted it or not, even if it means that he’ll die. It’s a main reason as to why he stayed behind when his herd left to other waters; life without you was virtually the same as to life without his coat. As such, he’s docked at your shore forever.

Henry’s very aggressive in this au (moreso) and he’s been known to drive off other creatures regardless of their ties (or lack thereof) to you. He’s incredibly territorial and has been in many a scrap to claim this cove as his own.

Yes, they do have quite the reputation surrounding them, mostly to do with their ferocity and bloodlust; they’ve taken down lots of other ships and killed lots of people, some in pretty brutal ways- They do still have to satiate their need for blood (as well as flesh) after all due to them being sirens

they’re feared by many other crews and others across the seas and it shows when they step into any kind of establishment, the whole place clears out of the way for them and rarely does anyone dare to challenge or even look at them wrong

The mystery of their true origins also adds to the fear and the rumors surrounding them
