its kinda insane to me that we as a species went from not naming children until they reached a certain age because miscarriages and infant mortality rates were that bad to certain people considering a fertilized egg a fucking person

always wild to see people freak out over dark romance novels when you know they're also like... Spuffy shippers? or something along those lines?
I mean, I have no issue with that lmao, I've had ships that are on the same level, but I don't know, it's just like... are you romanticizing the thing you're shipping to the point that you don't recognize its own darkness, or are you fully aware of that and just knowingly hypocritical?
#romance novel blogging#every week twitter declares that society is crumbling because of silly dark romance novels#and usually not even the REAL dark shit lmao#and every week it is the dumbest moral panic i've ever seen#but yeah dude it when you can literally see people with the WILDEST ships handwringing that i get really confused#like okay so the books are undermining women#but the women falling in love with their attempted rapists onscreen... are not..................#and to clarify to me it's just a quality of the work thing; the content itself there doesn't concern me#I MYSELF do not think spuffy as an example was handled well and the context of joss being who he is#retroactively makes it worse than a dark romance written by some random very normal lady keying into common fantasies#like mitzie or heather or whoever doesn't want to go out there and assault someone. probably#whereas joss.....................#wasn't allowed to be alone in a room w a teenage girl#and that isn't every showrunner ofc but a lot of visual representations of trauma#and romanticizations of these relationships onscreen are often written by people of the same gender as the perpetrator#whereas dark romance is often written by women--sometimes even women working out their own shit#and idk i'm kind of making that realization in real time as two why one bugs me more than the other#PERSONALLY speaking#and ofc that doesn't absolve women of handling SA whether it's romanticized or not badly#and CERTAINLY sa is not inherent to dark romance#which i think is a common misconception#dark romance in terms of genre is not 'rape and abuse as romance' it's honestly pretty broad#ANYWAY. thoughts over#just focus on the people who are actually preying on others plsthx

Related to an ask you got about Idia last night: I feel like people confuse Idia with Leviathan from Obey Me. Both are shut-in otaku gamers but where I feel they differ is that Leviathan always felt like a gatekeepy fan and Idia seems like the kind of person who the second they get a whiff that someone is into the same thing he is he'd want to talk to them but would talk himself out of it out of nervousness. Maybe he'd hit them up anon though.
Mm I can't really speak on characters from Obey me bc I'm not in the fandom, but I have seen people compare Idia to this character and make memes about their similarities! But for sure! I defineitly agree! I don't think Idia is gatekeepy persay. However, in canon has a bad habit of assuming people will downtalk his intrests/hobbies. Or even that they don't know anythings about it. (He does it to Vil a good amount of times and Others in Ch. 6)
(Though that is probably projection in my opinion bc he thinks his hobbies are something to be ashamed of, but we can't get into Idia's self worth issue rn.)
I think he can be very judgemental in that way. But when he's proven wrong I think its a pleasant surprise! Like you said, I think'd he'd be estatic and wanna talk their ear off about it but be worried he'd come off too strong or just be nervous talking to someone he doesn't know well in general! I have no doubt that Idia abuses the anon feature and has 70 alternatative acounts.

It's very cool that hussie has developed a creative team made of dedicated fans that have put out multiple projects with direct ties to the narrative canon, but the fact that most of these projects are just glorified fanfiction with extremely personal biases written into them has done irreparable damage to people's ability to be normal about interpretations and headcanons

Hello, dear friends, followers and guests.
I need to let off some steam.
First of all, look at all these followers with no content at all, dozens of them.
Each and every week.
Well, let's say that's nothing personal. (Though the staff at Tumblr should should take a personal approach to this.)
But what sucks even more are disrespectful comments from real people out there.
Look at me. I admit, now and then i write on controversial topics. And expect some criticism. That's ok by me. Part of the game, sorta...
But when the response is something prosaic like "kill yourself" - I get angry and sad.
I am a fine arts enthusiast too and sometimes create art, that celebrates the beauty of women. When I am adressed as a girl (with little more to offer than some "tacky filters"), it gets really nasty and annoying.
I'm a man of sixty. So it's quite inappropriate. And would also be inappropriate if a woman of - lets say - twenty, thirty, fourty something was adressed this way.
But the big hit is when I get personal offers from dominatrixes or pictures that are really dirty or just downright misogynistic.
There comes a point when I say to myself: This has to stop.
Because if this doesn't stop, then I'll stop. Delete my account.
Tumblr is something I used to enjoy and if gets annoying - folks, I have enough of that in real life.
Guess that was a lot of steam. Hope you understand...

I’m not mad at SCOTUS. I am mad at our legislators who have consistently refused to pass the Equal Rights Amendment and abortion protections on a federal level and keep passing the buck to the judicial branch.
(I will not be participating in the doxxing of Supreme Court people’s home addresses. But I encourage all of you to find the work contact information of your representatives and let them know what you think. They need to pass laws relating to the bodily autonomy of all people, and they need to do it now, and godsdammit, if there was any feeling that we didn’t need the ERA, I hope that feeling is well and truly debunked)
