have you recently read any really good jiara fics recently?

I loved you in spite of (deep fears that the world would divide us) by PennedByLynn 1/1 (T)

Summary: It was an island built of stolen moments: grasping his arm when she needed balance, heated glances while everyone else was preoccupied, hushed whispers and a growing vocabulary for just the two of them. In a world inhabited by just 6 people, they’d still managed to carve out their own corner.

So when real life came crashing - quite literally - back into their lives, it sunk the island beneath the surface, burying their lighthearted innocence beneath parental expectations and eviction notices and both their demons playing some twisted game of chicken, trying to see whose would break first. And when his came out on top, because they always did, she’d summoned every ounce of bravery to get through to him, glancing off the ricochets of his past and present vices.

Or, Kie reflects in the back of a Kitty Hawk van, unaware that JJ's on his way to break her out.

The story goes like this: one summer, a girl and her best friends end up stumbling into their own action movie. Turns out, Hollywood isn’t completely full of shit. Monsters can lurk in the most unexpected places, even hiding behind the face of your best friend’s father. Treasure hunts are, in fact, real and solving them feels like reaching across history. But they lie too, those movies. The shocking clatter of gunfire never becomes normal and it’s categorically impossible not to flinch at explosions and she’d really prefer not having to witness the near-death of every person she holds dear. Dessert islands leave you blistered and dehydrated. The ocean - that swath of tumultuous blue that has always been a safe haven - now taunts her every time the shock of blonde hair dips beneath it, as if to say I can reclaim him whenever I want. A roaring dirtbike slams her back to reality, forcing her to tuck that particular brand of escapism away for another day. The bright afternoon light is suddenly littered with the dust kicked up from JJ’s tires, making fresh tracks on the Chateau lawn. Henry likes Alex best when he’s unfiltered, like he’s getting a peek behind the curtain. But one thing has remained true: Alex could set him on fire, and Henry’s growing closer and closer to handing over the matches himself. Hours pass in a whirl of empty martini glasses, uncouth laughter, and some of the most absurd stories Henry has ever heard. Alex’s energy is, in a word, magnetic.
