Why Katniss was always going to choose Peeta

Gale was never even a real option for Katniss, it was always going to be Peeta.

Gale was always *physically* there for her in the sense that he could hold her hand/hug her/hunt with her/take care of her family etc. which was confusing for her because 'why would she choose Peeta if Gale was literally right next to her?' But Peeta was always *emotionally* there for her, in the way that he understood her and knew how to comfort her versus Gale sometimes not realising there was more to healing than just Katniss's exterior healing like broken bones mending.

Katniss knew Gale for years, he was easy to love because she was familiar with him, she understood him, could read him like a book. It was the plain, simple fact of her being around him for so long.

She didn't agree with Gale's opinions or plans, and I don't mean the ones he threw about in the woods criticising the Capitol, but the ones where he could justify killing (murdering) innocent children. And I don't mean her disagreeing in like a casual, argumentative way, but she genuinely felt sick to her core at some of his ideals, found them horrific and him barbaric.

Peeta and her shared a traumatic experience, twice. They both went through the Games, and both survived, barely. And I know it could be argued that this could have confused them into being in love, but it really didn't. It wasn't the Games that made them fall for each other, we know Peeta liked Katniss way before them, but it was how Peeta helped Katniss to recover from them. It was the aftermath- the nights on the train- that fuelled their feelings.

Gale was the fuel to Katniss's fire, but Peeta could calm it. Gale and Katniss were both too similar, hot headed sometimes, could be a little impulsive, very strong minded. Whereas Peeta was very gentle, he could soothe Katniss, give her a sense of security and comfort.

Gale and Katniss had similar childhoods so automatically they felt drawn to one another, and I think it was difficult for Katniss to kind of separate herself from Gale because of that. Like, he understood that part of her, but in a way he never got how she was later on. He didn't want her to change from the girl in the woods. But she did change, and he couldn't accept that to some degree. Peeta might not have understood Katniss's childhood like Gale did, but he tried to. Gale never really openly talked about what it was like for Katniss in the Games. I think he assumed he knew what it was like just from watching it. And maybe that came from a good place- him not wanting to drag up bad memories (???)- but it wouldn't have hurt for him to help her open up about it.

Gale (whether unintentionally or not) blew up Prim. Ofc he didn't mean to, but he did. AND HE HAD NO REMORSE FOR THE BOMBS, JUST THE FACT THEY KILLED PRIM.

Peeta fell in love with her twice.

18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased? ---I don't think so. We all have our preferences and dynamics we like. And while sometimes I stare at people when they don't like a poplular/canon ship--at the end of the day, it's their opinion. We all approach books and media differently. And how we interpret that is our own business based on our own comprehension and understandings. Like, in the Shatter Me series, I never got behind Warnette (granted, I don't like those books to begin with). But I just could never get behind Warner as a protag. I've also never liked PeetaxKatniss. Mostly for that one, it just didn't feel realistic. And my experience with those books is that by the end things felt as though they weren't explored well enough for me to understand characters and plot well enough. Maybe I need to re-read with a different lense...

21. What are your thoughts on crack ships? ---So...you can ship who you want. But if it's canon I will die with that ship. Like I never got the surge behind Malide for example. Since I am rereading the books and trying to do a little more of a dive in the series, this opinion might change. But over all, crack ships are fun. While I hardly, if ever, engage in them, who am I to control what someone else enjoys?

Huh. I went and checked the tags “the ballad of songbirds and snakes” and “tbosbas” “tbosas” and I don’t see any of my asks or discourse in those tags.  And I highly doubt my asks are all you are able to see in that tag. I received those asks a bit back, so they should have already been covered by other content. There’s certainly not a wall of my asks blocking other content.    But in any case, I’m not currently receiving anymore asks on that subject, so I won’t be putting anymore asks into that tag unless someone stirs the pot up again. I tag that way so I can find my asks/anons later, and because the asks/anons pertain to that tag.

Your favourite non-canon ship?

“Non-canon” is difficult to determine when you’re primarily in the FE fandom. In FE4, for example, would that apply to everyone but SigurdxDeirdre and QuanxEthlyn, since just about everyone else (besides Hannibal) can be paired up however? In the GBA FEs, is it everyone who doesn’t have an explicitly romantic paired ending?

Anyway, EirikaxDeirdre would probably be a contender, heh. In terms of non-crossover ships, AlecxSylvia is rejected by Kaga’s headcanon. If we’re taking the non-”predestined” pairings as non-canon, though, NoishxAyra becomes my favorite for FE4. For FE5, it’s LinoanxSaphy, with FergusxKarin as a runner-up. I would say EphraimxLyon for FE8, but let’s be real here. That’s as close to canon as we could’ve gotten.

3.What is the rarest rare pair (that you ship)?

Damn, EirikaxDeirdre could work for this too! In reality, though, it’s LinoanxSaphy.

5.What is your most fluffy + happy ship?

What is a fluffy/happy ship? (Cue me simultaneously laughing and sobbing.) I could go off of @arthoure-Pent and Louise have a decently happy life, and some of Eirika’s ships turn out all right, all things considered. Maybe DennyxLana from Harvest Moon?

6. What is your most angsty ship?

@siegmunds said FinnxRaquesis, @arthoure included SigurdxDeirdre and EphraimxLyon in her list, and @julystorms pointed out that JynxCassian is tragic af. Those all work. Another contender is PeetaxKatniss from The Hunger Games.
