"To be a scientist is to be naive. We are so focused on our search for the truth we fail to consider how few actually want us to find it. But it is always there whether we see it or not, whether we choose to or not. The truth doesn't care about our needs or wants, it doesn't care about our governments, our ideologies, our religions. It will lie in wait for all time. And this, at last, is the gift of Chernobyl. Where I once would fear the cost of truth, now I only ask: What is the cost of lies?"
CHERNOBYL (2019) | Created and Written by Craig Mazin, dir. Johan Renck
I have been absent from here for a long time due to life, but I miss having people to talk about Paul Ritter characters with. And my AO3 Chernobyl fanfics have started getting kudos again. I hadn't thought of them for so long! I've re-read some of them, they made me smile
But along side that war, another war is waged. A battleground in shades of gray, played out in deception, seduction, and bad faith. The participants are strange. They are seldom what they seem, and fiction and reality blur. This war is a wilderness of mirrors in which the truth is protected by a bodyguard of lies. This is our war.
