Reminder that around this time is when people start early-shopping for holiday gift-giving (for those who celebrate or their family celebrates) so if you're someone who's family/friends refuses to take 'no, dont get me a gift' as an answer then you need to start making a wishlist of things you actually want and can use.
Having an actaul list to whip out when someone asks is a perfectly acceptable response and preferred. Especially when Aunty Tiffany is gifting you feminine church clothes when you're t-masc and it's just going to sit there for months unused, or Grandpa gets you another one of those walmart spa kits when $10 of gas money would have been much more helpful.
A lot of gifts are often unwanted, sit there unused out of guilt or are thrown away. This will help YOU as much as it helps to cut back on waste. Most stores cannot put a lot of returned gifts back out on shelves, especially holiday-themed ones. Holidays are one of the most wasteful times of the year.
I have some posts about dumpster diving and waste and talking about how you should donate unwanted gifts but seriously pls pls pls make a list. It does not have to be expensive or extravagant, it just needs to be something you know you will use. Put some $5 cute pens on there with the bunnies at the end or something.
I love your artwork so much! Your colors are so vibrant and none of the white speckles in the paper ever shows, its so impressive and I really dig it! I was wondering if you use any sort of blending medium? Like baby oil or anything? Either way, I really enjoy looking at your artwork and I'm always excited to see whatever you'll make next
I use a colorless blender (prismacolor, which is wax-based so baby oil probably wouldnt work) but my scanner is also rly bad about picking up white specks in a way photographing the art with my phone isnt, so I usually have to do some digital editing to get rid of them as well.
I do this by duplicating the layer, setting the one on top to "darken," and using the mixer brush to blend out the white spots + just use the eyedropper tool to select the color of that area (needs to be a slightly lighter shade of it) and color over the white spots with the brush tool
i edited a small bit of the original scan to show what i mean
original:
with the edited layer:
heres how it looks set to normal instead of darken, I used both the mixing brush and regular brush just to demo it
2d men that are terrible about accepting 'divorces' as the permanent separation its meant to be and instead see it as a minor setback, a teensy little bump in the road. you two made vows to each other and some signatures on a piece of paper won't change anything. anyway....Kirishima, deku, NATSUO, USHIWAKA, choso, yuuji, yuuta, TOJI, GOJO, almost all bllk guys though most of them probably don't sign the papers to begin with
Hmm....how hard can large scale mosaic possibly be? I feel like my plans for the room I'm working on could use something really shiny and impactful and maybe I want to make a fold-down cutting table and maybe I want to do it out of mosaic, even though that will be ungodly heavy.
It's a fun idea. I'm not sure if it's a good idea.
I haven't done mosaic since a one-off high school art class but I feel like the component skills are ones I already have, sooooo....
I have been keeping to a blue and gold celestial theme for both my guest room and my art workspaces, because if and when I move those spaces are likely to be combined. Cutting table, even though it would be for a different room, falls in the same vein, so I'm thinking something with a nice dark night sky and maybe some branches or leaves...
I’m sorry, what shows over the past two years have actually been renewed? I legitimately don’t care any more if the show is “good” or if it’s “bad” because they’re all cancelled. I can go on and on with a list just off the top of my head with shows that have been cancelled recently, and maybe one? two? maybe? that have been renewed? Like. what is the point. I’m scared to start any new show because in all likelihood it’s going to be cancelled. And all the more power to campaigns to save shows; I have so much respect for the perseverance and dedication that takes, and I’m not trying to bring them down in the slightest, but I’m more saying to the point of that there shouldn’t. have to be. a new campaign to save x show every two weeks BECAUSE SHOWS SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE RENEWED. Fans should be able to have some *semblance* of hope that their show will be renewed, and the fact that we’re not even able to have that is ridiculous and speaks volumes about the landscape of show production right now. Every time I see that a new show was cancelled, it doesn’t even matter if I was a fan of it or not, I just still hurt for that fandom. It’s so draining, even if it’s not firsthand. There’s not even really a point to this post, I’m just tired of it. I’m so sorry for all of the shows you love that have been cancelled.
Rumors are going around on twitter and weibo that starember might have left the tgcf manhua team omg.. they're unfounded right now but can we get a prayer circle going for hoping that it's true!! 🙏🙏🙏I'm so tired of their consistent racism and orientalism being passed around in the manhua space, people have been raising the alarm on it for literal years now
