was having a freakout over whether or not im a fictive of (redacted) because ive been around since the body was 15/16 which is right when we got into outlast and then i realized idc. it changes nothing about me if i know if im a fictive or not. i have more important things to worry about like finding out my grandmother is an abuser that committed a hate crime not whether or not im a fictive or whatever (does a miserable little dance)

It's weird to be traumatized by the people the fandom and Canon says you should love, and in turn comforted by someone Canon is certain should've traumatized you

I'm a fictive of Waylon Park from Outlast, I was transfem in my timeline, and my wife was just so so cruel about it, it's really upsetting whenever someone is like "oh Waylon loves his wife he'll do anything to get back to her!" but like I absolutely would not! I'm so glad I never have to see her again!

Meanwhile everyone writes the actual love of my life, even when they ship him with me, as a creep and a monster, when to me, in my timeline, he was literally the first person to actually look at me and see me as my true self, so I end up being upset by the people I thought would offer me comforting content too! It's so isolating...

Oh yeah we know this feeling honestly. Our canons and fandoms get everything so wrong almost all of the time and it's really isolating like there's people they're convinced are great and friendly who are the Absolute Worst and people they hate that we are close to and care about deeply.

Your feelings and your memories are valid. The way we like to think of it is that canon (and by extension fanon) are just retellings of our lives like those based on true story films and stuff and the things that don't match up with our memories aren't a reflection on us but the choices the author made while telling this story (usually for the worse).
