As you know, I lived under a rock for quite some time so I was unaware of things that most people in this fandom know about.

Now I'm catching up.

Let's go back in time for a moment. It’ s November 4, 2022 and a new podcast of Jenni Falconer (“RunPod”) is published.

8. 3 TV shows that you never get bored of

the makeup, the clothes, the often ridiculous challenges, the fantastic reads, the friendships and rivalries? amazing. showstopping. something i can watch over and over and over, especially whenever i'm sick and need a little pick-me-up. (and yes, i'm aware of the problems regarding the show but hey, sometimes you can enjoy media despite that stuff!)

a german documentary series that always covers interesting topics and gives you a countdown from 10 to 1 as a ranking. for example: the 10 worst days to have been alive, the 10 worst deals in history or 10 people with ridiculous addictions. it has humour in it, explains complicated issues really well and i just love being educated like that.

do... do i really have to say anything about this show? the plot is amazing, it does a great job at adapting the story from the books and the character arcs are actually believable and make sense! plus, i love historic shows and movies and the acting is superb. it doesn't hurt that sam heughan is one handsome scot and does our jamie fraser the honour he fucking deserves.

The Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 6

Day 6: Favorite setting/location

For me, it will always be Lallybroch. Not just the physical house itself, but the area surrounding it and all the beautiful Scottish scenery. I love the recent seasons, but to me Outlander shines the most when the characters are in Scotland. There’s nothing that compares, and this house and all it represents to the bigger story of Jamie and Claire is so poignant. Not to mention we got many important and touching scenes at Lallybroch.

Jamie and Jenny’s first interaction with Black Jack Randall took place here. Jamie and Claire’s first “I love you” was here. We met Jenny and Ian for the first time. It became Furgus’ home when Jamie was on the run. It was his secret refuge when he was Red Jamie. He met Marsali and Joanie there, and began trying to start a new life. He brought Claire back again after her return to him.

Claire also visited here in the 20th century as a way to feel closer to Jamie again and gain closure. And book readers know that we will see Bri and Roger return here again and make this house their home. Jamie and Claire will return once again to Lallybroch as well, which I’m curious to see how true to the books that storyline will be portrayed on the show.

Lallybroch is central to so much of the plot, and these characters. The location scouts absolutely nailed it when they found Midhope as the location for this iconic home.

Welcome to the Outlander 31 Day Challenge!

Today is Day 26: Favorite Jamie + Claire love/intimacy scene

This part of this scene in 01x09 "The Reckoning."

Claire is so close to Jamie in this moment - not just physically, but clearly emotionally as well. Jamie lets her initiate the kiss here, completely at her mercy, giving her choice.

And when Claire kisses him, Jamie's grin just shatters me every time. He is so in love with Claire in this moment, in every moment, always.

Day 3: Favorite Murtagh scene

This was a very easy decision for me. My favorite scene with Murtagh is him reuniting with Jamie in America. This is one change from the books that I absolutely love.

The look on his face when he realizes Jamie Fraser is in his shop is so satisfying and makes my heart so happy. I was literally giddy when watching this scene the first time. I still get excited when I watch it, and it is on my list of scenes that I watch when I just want to watch a happy moment.

Same with the look on Jamie's face. I love that it took a second to register in his brain that Murtagh was standing right in front of him.

Aside from the obvious reunion of Jamie and Claire in Season 3 this is by far my favorite Outlander reunion. The bond between the two and the loyalty that they have for one another is one that is not easily broken. The recurring theme of family before everything is one of the many reasons I love Outlander.

Of course you have to end this scene with "Who are you calling an old coot?"

2020 Reading Challenge - Audiobooks Edition

I'm the type of person that needs to be listening to something while getting ready. It lightens the mood, sets a tone for the day, and provides a distraction from more serious thoughts.

In high school, it was my gigantic CD player being lugged into the bathroom, playing the latest top 40 hits. In college, it was my laptop and the 300 plus songs downloaded on iTunes. Then came podcasts on my phone, ranging from Doug Loves Movies to NPR Politics. But now here we are in 2020: And it's all about audiobooks. The obsession began in 2017 with my newly granted public library card and the Overdrive app, offering numerous audio books to check out. Then came the Audible subscription, where I have a constant on/off relationship, taking advantage of any deal they throw my way. But with a subscription comes a collection, and mine only grew more and more over time. So, let's add them to the 2020 reading challenge!

Starting today, for one year, no more audiobooks can be purchased. For this challenge, I can only listen to the ones I already have in my collection or ones I can check out from the library. Once completed, a review will be posted, along with total listening time and any other pertinent information.
