ouran academy, a famous high school built and taught by rich people. i- y/n l/n attends ouran, but i’m not rich or poor. call me a commoner, call me basic and low. i attended this school only to satisfy my parents need. they wanted me to attend the place they couldn’t attend when they were my age, so i’m living out the dream through my years. call me a suck up, but it’s the way of my life.

“y/n! you’ve been spacing for so long! did you even hear what i said?” a classmate of mine said, standing in from of me while her hands were propped up on her hips.

“i’m sorry kara-chan, it’s been a long day for me honestly-“ i replied, lying to her face wasn’t the best thing i chose but it was impulse.

“if it’s been such a long day, you should go chill at the ouran host club. they’ll make you feel like you’re floating on the sun..” kara told me while her eyes were in a dream like state. i rolled my eyes and sighed at her.

“me and the host club don’t like getting along-“ i told her and she looked at me shocked.

“but aren’t you buddy buddy with them??” she asked and i stared at her.

“just because the twins who work in the host club are in my class doesn’t mean i want to be buddy buddy with them. they decided to drag me into it without my consent.” i huffed at her and she only smiled at me.

“give the twins a chance honestly, they’ve only had each other since elementary.” old news, i was told this by the international super spy because someone told her that the twins were stuck together. now that im thinking about it- i wonder if kara told her about it..well no time to waste- the boys will be blowing up my cell if i'm not there within 3 minutes or so-

“stop stop stop! you can stop doing that i’m here now you idiots!” i busted through the door with a angry expression and my phone in my hand. karou being the sneaky fox he is, smirked at me.

“awww you came running to us, how adorable!” he teased me and i only rolled my eyes at him.

“annoying honestly..” i muttered and walked towards the table where the people i actually enjoy being around talked.

“good afternoon l/n-san.” haruhi greeted me and i smiled at her.

“afternoon to you as well.” i responded. the rest of them greeted afternoon to me as well, to which i responded in the same way i did to haruhi.

“twins with time on their hands are the devils honestly..” i plopped my head on the table and honey-senpai giggled at me.

“sorry about that l/n, the twins took a liking to you.” tamaki-senpai apologized to me with a rose and i only smiled at him.

“you don’t need to apologize for their foolish actions. i know i’m likeable but they’re just being dumb about it.” i cockily said and i spotted the twins blushing in the corner of my eye. ‘caught ya there..’

“the host club is almost about to open, you better scurry away before people have their suspicions.” kyoya-senpai told me. i bowed to the host club and left through the back door. i circled back to the club room to look like a damsel in distress, looking for some reliever. the club was definitely surprised that i came back when they had guests since i usually stayed before and after they had activities. i waved only to the twins and they waved back. ‘now let’s see who will be my shining prince for today.’

“you seem to be a new guest, shall i accompany you today darling?” a voice i recognized asked of me. i sipped my tea and looked up to meet his gaze.

“you must be one of the hitachiin brothers. i’m l/n, but you can call me y/n if you must.” i told him in a completely different voice. i was soft spoken, i said my words with a gentle touch. he blushed at me and nodded.

“y-yes, i’m hikaru hitachiin.” he told me and scratched his head out of panic. i looked at him and the seat in front of me. i placed my cup of tea down and smiled once again.

“a prince shouldn’t keep his princess waiting for too long, she might just run away at the touch.” i told him and he snapped out of his thoughts to sit down.

“what are you doing here y/n?” he whispered to me and i only shrugged.

“thought you were a package deal, what happened to my other twin?” i asked and he slightly laughed at my question.

“taking a break, he’s bothering haruhi as usual.” he answered me.

“hm, well seems like i’ll have just you for today.” i small smiled at him and he nodded.

“so princess, what shall we do today?” he asked and i did a small face.

“not sure my dear prince, can we dance?” i asked and he smiled, he stood up and bowed in front of my chair. he held his hand out and i took it.

“well of course my lovely princess, we can dance.” he helped me up and took me over to an open space.

the two looked so gracefully, catching the eye of anyone who looked in their way. by first glance you can say they were a couple, but they’re just two goofy friends smiling and adoring each others presence.

“you dance well princess.” hikaru asked and she smiled lovingly at him.

“now now prince, you’re carrying me in all of this action.” she responded and he laughed. hikaru dipped her and in that moment, it just felt like them. no host club, no ladies, no one but them. it was like the world revolved around them and not the earth. hikaru lost his breath seeing y/n being dipped so gracefully. y/n let out a small laugh. he slowly brought her up and the two looked stared at each other. they were feeling something and they both knew it. even though everyone was watching them, they didn’t care. they were in each others arms embracing and thats all that mattered to them.

“you’re beautiful..” hikaru breathed out and y/n blushed.

“stop it hikaru, you tell that to every girl now..” she mumbled and he shook his head.

“i’m serious!” he exclaimed and she laughed.

“i’ll believe you once you show me you can be my king.” y/n told him and he nodded.

“it’s a challenge.” he said and let y/n go.

“i’ll have to go, parents are calling.” she said. hikaru nodded at her and waved goodbye, she packed all her things up and waved goodbye as she dipped from the classroom.

“you guys were so cute!! might as well just date at that point..” kara told me and i only shook my head at her. kara had been babbling on about hikaru and i for 2 days straight, i avoided the classroom in the time being only because i was embarrassed that we did it in front of the boys and the girls.

“and what happens if we did date kara? what would happen then?” i turned around and asked her and she thought about it.

“cutest couple in ouran academy duh.” she said with a face and i flicked her forehead.

“ewww! you’re so weird kara..” i laughed and she smiled.

“it would be so true! you guys would make such an amazing couple i can see it!” she exclaimed to me and i shook my head.

“you have to remember hikaru is in the host club, and starting two days ago i was one of their guests.” i told kara and she just stared at me. i facepalmed and stared at her with an experession.

“hikaru ahs fan girls kar, fan GIRLS. i understand you would want us to be together if we were NORMAL high school students but we aren’t kara.” i spelled it out for her and she did an ‘ohhhhh’ noise.

“well can’t he just say he’ll quit or take a break?” kara asked and i shook my head no.

“him and his brother are a package deal, plus it’ll be selfish of me if i just stole that, the host club makes a lot of money i couldn’t do that to their finances..” i told her and she shrugged at me.

“still, i think it’d be nice for you guys to be happy, not always having to be a people’s pleaser and always having to suck up to whatever someone said to them.” kara said and patted me in the shoulder.

“i gotta head home now, tell the boys i said hi!” kara said and waved me goodbye as she ran to the front of the school. i rolled my eyes at her and headed to the classroom. ‘alright, time to stop being a pussy. i gotta face them eventually.’ ‘but then again...what if i talk to them tomorrow since they’re in my class..’ ‘no but i’ve been ignoring them in my class too..’ ‘ugh stupid me, why did i have to ask to dance..’ in the time i was thinking, i found myself staring at the sign ‘music room 3.’ i was hesitated honestly, i wasn’t sure if i wanted to open the door and see the twins. i wasn’t sure of anything really.

“honestly- you guys couldn’t-” the voice suddenly stopped talking.

“guys!” the voice started and i looked in the direction of whoever was talking.

“oh- hello haruhi-” i said and she said hello back to me.

“y/n is-” she started but i cut her off.

“shh!! don’t say anything yet-!” i hushed and she only looked at me with a face.

“and why not? it’s just the guys in here, no ladies or anything.” haruhi said and i shook my head.

“i can’t face the twins yet- i’m nervous..” i responded and she immediately knew what i was talking about.

“you can’t put this off you know, you have to face them eventually.” she told me and i shook my head.

“i-i couldn’t! it’s embarassing haru..” i stuttered and hid my face in my hands. she patted my head and smiled.

“you need to face him eventually. do it now or i’ll force you.” she threatened and i had no choice to do it, it’s not like i could run away since i’ll just see them tomorrow in one of my classes.

“alright fine..” i mumbled and she hummed, she brought me inside and closed the door.

“you’re dealing with this by yourself by the way, i need to pick up something for the club so- see ya.” she said and left the room with the boys staring at me.

“HARU-” i groaned and just awkwardly waved at the boys. hikaru wasted no time to run up to me and engulf me in a hug.

“you got me so worried, you didn’t show up for two days and you didn’t talk to me in class and i just-” i hugged hikaru and smiled.

“sorry, but can we talk about it later? i’m here now and that’s all that matters in the moment.” i told him and he nodded. he let go of me and i walked over to the other boys.

“so sorry i didn’t show up, i was caught in a bit of a pickle to be honest.” i apologized and tamaki hugged me.

“i’m just glad you’re safe, come have a cup of tea with us. the host club took a break today since hikaru couldn’t function without you.” he told me and i looked in his direction. he looked away sheepishly and i smiled lovingly at him. god he’s so adorable.

we all ended up going to the park to play kick the can and enjoy each other’s presence. though hikaru and i had other plans, we were at the parks garden sitting down and smelling the roses.

“whenever i’m with you, i feel free. i feel happy like i haven’t felt in years.” hikaru told me and i giggled.

“stop it, you’re so corny..” i mumbled and he held my hand.

“i’m dead serious y/n..you make me feel alive.” he said, and i could tell he was serious. the tone of his voice changed and i’ve never felt more..happy? in a way, i’m not sure. i just- i don’t know.. i like being with hikaru. having him near me makes my heart jump out of my body..god hikaru..what are you doing to me?

a few weeks had passed, hikaru and i had been hanging out with each other any chance we got. we went on a few dates. currently him and i are on our third date, we were at the arcade and we were racing to see who can buy each other the most gifts. i was in the lead of course since i used to come here with my siblings and i practically memorized all of the games.

“how the world are you so good at these games?” he pouted and i smiled.

“i’m just a god at the game.” i said proudly and held up a bucket of tickets. he shook his head and engulfed me in a hug, i looked up to him and smiled. he smiled back at me and i got lost in his eyes. hikaru’s eyes were the part i loved the most. i always got lost in his sunset eyes, they made me feel calm and secure at all times.

“i love you hikaru..” i confessed subconsciously. i didn’t process on what i said and just continued to stare into his eyes. he looked shock for a second before leaning in, he met my lips and i melted into the kiss. the kiss didn’t last that long since i pulled back first.

“woah..” he said and i blushed like crazy.

“wow..” i said.

“that was-” i said but couldn’t finish my sentence.

“amazing?” he questioned and i nodded.

there was a short silence between us, but hikaru broke it.

“you know.. we can’t just kiss and not ask to be each other’s partners..” he trailed off and i laughed.

“hikaru hitachiin..” i said.

“y/n l/n..” he also said.

“will you be my boyfriend?” i asked and he twirled me in the air and gave me a small kiss.

“of course..!” he said happily and i cupped his cheeks and gave him as a kiss as well. and in that moment, i’ve never felt more happy in my entire life, i’ve never felt more..loved.

was it crazy of me? loosing interest..falling in love with the wrong twin..i mean- i didn’t mean to, but i got the wrong twin. i had a crush on kaoru first, hikaru he just-.. we were happy, but there are no such things as happy endings..

“i meant it when i said i was sorry hikaru!” i yelled at him, he had tears streaming from his face as he pointed at me.

“you LIED to me! you lied to everyone!” he screamed and i scoffed.

“WHO’S EVERYONE??” i said and he only stared at me.

“what about the times we spent huh?! the arcade?! our first kiss?!” he reminded me and i stared at him with tears in my eyes as well.

“hikaru, i’m sorry okay? i got it all wrong, my feelings got mixed up- my head was-” i was caught off by hikaru shoving a photo in my hands.

“so these memories meant nothing right?! you traitor.” he muttered and i looked down at the photos. it was him and i kissing on the beach, he took a picture and told me this was our favorite moments.

“these memories are dear to me hikaru! i meant it when i said i loved you.”

“loved? when did you stop loving me? when my brother always joked about taking you away from me?”

“no! it’s just-”

“just what?!” he cried and silence grew between us.

“was i not enough for you? what did you want me to do to be better?!”

“stop hikaru!”

“god i wish you had thought this through before i went in fell in love with you!”

“when he’s making you happy like i did! don’t you dare forget about the way you betrayed me!”

i couldn’t say anything to hikaru, it was like the words had left my mouth.

“get of my life, get out of my face, and leave me the hell alone!” he screamed and i went for the door.

“the second choices are always the worst one..” i said harshly and left his room.

it had been 3 months since hikaru and i had a messy break up, i was with kaoru and him and i were at the same arcade.

“hey you..” kaoru poked my forehead and i snapped out of my thoughts. it just felt like i was here yesterday, i never expected to get so lost in my thoughts..

“you okay?” he asked and i smiled. right..smiled.

“yeah totally.” i said and held kaoru’s hand. 2 months ago, kaoru had asked me out. he was my first crush so i said yes of course, but sometimes when i look at kaoru, i just see hikaru. was it stupid of me to break up with him just because i couldn’t move on? kaoru let my hand go to go grab me some ice cream, i looked around and all i saw was flashbacks of hikaru and i being here. i missed him..i really do..but i’m happy now. i have my first crush as my boyfriend and i’ve never been more happy.

“second to best, never the first but he did make me smile and i was grateful for that.”
