I did it as well. Late, but here I am. It is mainly for the human verse as she is (slightly) different in the other verses. But close enough? Perhaps apart from her royal verse as royal!Nun is much more independent.

12 --in public. [Nunnally & Hibiya in their main royal verse]
kissy kissy!! | @lured-into-wonderland
A light clearing of the throat before, "Princess Nunnally," he spoke up to steal her attention from whatever conversation she was pretending to care about. "This is one of your favorite ballets playing right now, yes?" Offering a hand, "Would you like to dance?" A rhetorical question, especially in front of other people, Nunnally would cause a dramatic stir if she said no. But, even with his sweet charm, that was the point. They needed to talk without feeling like he was cornering her - even if that was basically what he did.
Tumblr media
Hibiya was at least polite about cornering her, if there were any points to give for that, allowing time for her to speak up first if she wished, or come up with an excuse to leave prematurely without creating public insult. Although, there was a time limit after all. For some reason, he decided this was his course of action and would undoubtedly only upset her more if he let it slip through his fingers.
"I... I wanted to apologize for yesterday." He finally spoke up, calmly and slowly, realizing he didn't know what to say after that point. "As I was trying to explain earlier, it was just a misunderstanding. I wasn't trying to ignore you and leave you unwelcomed." He held her loosely. His movement was still rhythmic and thankfully second nature, but the dance lacked any passion and was obviously only being used as an excuse to force her into the conversation. "I was told you were arriving today, in the morning before everything started. I knew that sounded odd because you wouldn't have had much time to relax and prepare, but I thought maybe you were busy and it was the best you could do. I didn't think to question it."
Maybe not the best start, almost sounding like he was blaming her. Try again? "But I made a mistake in going against my instincts. And I won't next time. I shoved everything I could into yesterday to make it work, so this wouldn't have happened. I could show you my planner if you'd like, it's a scribbled mess, but I did everything possible to match, I mean what I thought was your schedule. I was free all morning to be with you, but I was told you wanted to sleep in." How unfortunate it all was. In those moments of respite and silence, while Nunnally was back home, he found himself missing the company. Hibiya was trying to show that, some appreciation for her presence, but he instead just caused the opposite effect. "I truly did intend on giving you my undivided attention."
Tumblr media
The song ended, everyone giving light applause for themselves and others, but Hibiya kept his hands in position for a bit longer, desperate to read if she believed him or was even listening. It was a sympathetic look in his eyes, though even for him, difficult to separate why this time he felt such sorrow for Nunnally. If it was because he imagined what it must as been like to return to what is or will soon be her new home, only to be mostly ignored, or because he accepted this mistake is defining him as being less than perfect, or looking careless even?
Removing his hand from hers, Hibiya instead brought it to her cheek, his lips soon after meeting hers for an honest kiss. It wasn't long, nor particularly demanding. It was gentle, allowing Nunnally at any moment to freely reject him without it being cause for a scene. As far as he was from being a hugging, cuddly type of person, this was his way of expressing that while he still had her.
He messed up. Despite his best efforts, Hibiya felt there was no one to blame for this silly little error but himself. The slightest oversight that he couldn't help but be seen as proof that he was falling back to old habits. He needed to try harder, push himself maybe just a bit further. Accept that his comfort and patience wasn't what mattered, but doing what was right - for the kingdom. "If you forgive me, I swear it will never happen again. I'll find out who gave me the wrong information and ensure everything from now on is triple-checked myself."

personally what makes me lose it most abt Code Geass is the parallel between Lelouch + Nunnally and Cornelia + Euphemia. Older sibling who would do anything for their baby sister, who thinks they know best, who believes they can protect them by using enough force and power and might. Sweet innocent younger sister who ends up killing a huge number of people.
Neither of them really succeeded in protecting her. Obviously Euphemia died, and worse, she's remembered as a killer, not the girl she was. Lelouch did the inverse (maybe that's even where he got the idea?); he sacrificed himself to be remembered as a killer, and left Nunnally in a world without him, where she can never tell anyone the truth.

Iconic Homoerotic Betrayal: Round 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Round 2 Directory
Context:
Lelouche/Suzaku
Summary by Anonymous Contributor
szll is already iconic but I'm just going to list all their betrayals (and perceived betrayals) as a refresher:
(first, for context, one thing you gotta understand is lelouch, leader of the rebellion who believes ends justify the means, is also the discarded prince of the empire he's fighting against. suzaku, rising knight of the empire who believes means have to justify the ends, is the son and killer of the prime minister of the country being oppressed. this is PEAK narrative foils and enemies-to-lovers recipe right there.)
- lelouch and nunnally were sent to japan as political hostages. britannia takes over japan quickly after and lelouch, knowing how much japan means to suzaku, promises to destroy britannia. suzaku should be angry at britannia! lelouch will free them!! except years later he learns that suzaku is now WORKING for the empire? he's becoming a KNIGHT for the empire, betraying his own country and their shared hatred for britannia. what the fuck, what happened to principles, suzaku? this is lelouch's first (perceived) betrayal.
- lelouch (accidentally) kills euphemia, the only princess who's trying to make peace with the japanese, the princess that suzaku is knight of, the princess suzaku LOVES and lelouch adores. now yes, this was an accident, but lelouch ROLLS WITH IT and lets suzaku and the rest of the world believe that it was intentional, thus fully driving that knife deep. he never tells suzaku this was an accident. this is suzaku's most painful betrayal.
- suzaku finds out lelouch is zero, leader of the rebellion, and turns him in to his evil dad, emperor of the empire, in exchange for becoming a knight of round (the highest military status). now if you count akito the exiled as canon, this also means sending lelouch to be BRAINWASHED into serving the empire as a master tactician before R2 happens. suzaku monitors him all throughout, watching lelouch destroy nations and praise the empire against his own principles.
this is just season one of code geass. this doesn't even touch how suzaku is also forced to betray his own loyalties/principles sometimes whenever the "live" geass that lelouch condemns him with acts up. how suzaku would monitor lelouch and keep deceiving him that rolo is his beloved sibling, not nunnally. etc etc.
AND YET despite all of this, code geass culminates with them SWEARING LOYALTY to each other, with lelouch becoming the demon emperor and suzaku becoming his right-hand man, the knight of zero. lelouch becomes a tyrant that suzaku is destined to kill. lelouch brings peace to the world but will never be able to live in it. he will always be remembered as the dictator, the scourge of the world. suzaku atones for all his sins by being reduced to a heroic symbol, by being punished to kill his best friend and never becoming suzaku the person ever again. with the "live" geass, he is cursed to never die, never to escape, always bearing both of their sins -- the eternal punishment he has been seeking. and by killing lelouch, he is able to avenge euphemia in the end, and bring the peace all three of them desired.
code geass is a hot mess but there is poetry in their betrayals. they are thematically bound to live this tragedy, and that is why they are iconic. the ending of code geass is well-known and highly regarded as one of the most iconic endings ever, and it can only ever be so because it stands on the love and loss and betrayals of suzaku and lelouch.
Charles/Erik
Summary by @sing-the-beginning-of-moana
it was love at first sight. they got together and were happy for a while until erik caused charles to feel the excruciating pain of dying (without actually dying), tried to kill hundreds of people, accidentally paralyzed charles, and then abandoned him altogether. and that's just the first movie. repeat with the same sort of behavior and constant breaking up and getting back together for the next several decades.

HERE IS WHY SHIRLULU IS A LEGITIMATE SHIP -PART 1
Warning: I'm not a writer and English is not my native language. So kindly bare or DM me about it. Criticism is welcomed not hate.
I always wanted to post a detailed analysis of  Shirley X Lelouch  relationship and will post in parts due to Tumblr restricted on images.
Fun fact- I started watching Code Geass with all the spoilers (deaths) and was fully expecting to be part of the Cclulu or Kalulu fanbase (because they are popular), but as I continued watching, I couldn't understand why Shirlulu had a minor fanbase and was ignored when their feelings were so obvious. Needless to say I became a Shirlulu shipper.
Let's start -
Shirley and Lelouch loved each other.
While Shirley's feeling are so obvious.
Lelouch's feelings are hinted throughout the series (both direct and subtle hints), which are often ignored as filler or brushed off as "guilt" for killing her father (which is not the case).
There are people who dislike Shirley just because she is not "useful" like other girls. Let me tell you it's called a business deal and not love if you are going to choose a person based on their "usefulness."
Let's start with Direct hints
R1 Stage 14 -
although the whole episode is dedicated to Shirlulu and their relationship. I'm focusing  only on the bits right now.
Lelouch, being dense when it comes to love, didn't realize his feelings until he lost her. Lelouch really cherished her presence in his life.
Tumblr media
When I first watched CG , I really didn't expect that Lelouch would say such a romantic line especially for Shirley ( the ship so unpopular) and I repeat NO ONE would say this for a platonic friendship.
I was suspicious of Lelouch's feelings but this episode made it crystal clear that's its mutual , it's just Lelouch didn't realize it before.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I would love to see them bicker and laugh it off after patching up
Tumblr media
R1 Stage 12 & 14 -
IIrc, Shirley is the only girl whom Lelouch kissed back.
Personally I don't think he kissed her back due to guilt over killing her father but more like doing anything he could to comfort her.
If he could have kissed back Kallen if guilt was the reason but he only let her kiss him.
Tumblr media
R1 Stage 14 -
"Any sin you commit is mine to bear" is the love language of Lelouch. If we consider Lelouch's personality.
He is not type to buy flowers and chocolates and he is the type who would do everything in power to hide the evidence of you murder and going far to even take the blame for it.
Tumblr media
Ranked as one of the best anime hugs and only hugging scene in code geass. The way Lelouch pulls and hugs her is everything
Tumblr media
R2 Stage 12 -
Shirley felt Lelouch was lying about his feelings for her. His response was immediate hard " No". Once he realised what he blurted be played innocent.
The reason why he played innocent was because he is to busy to be in a relationship.
This alone should be a proof that Shirley's feeling are reciprocated.
It's because of his feelings he wants to keep her at distance so that is safe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
R2 Stage 24 -
Lelouch was arguing with Schneizel about how people struggle against sadness yet still seek the future.
The first scene that played was Shirley's death, symbolizing that Lelouch's struggle against sadness was Shirley's death and how he still he seeks a future.
Tumblr media
R2 Stage 25 -
Lelouch was dying, the first person that came to his mind was Shirley not CC or Kallen (after it was just chronological order S2-S1), and his last being his childhood with Suzaku and Nunnally. Special people in Lelouch's life
Many people chose to ignore this moment but this one is undeniable proof that Lelouch never moved on from Shirley

ROUND 2: POLL #8

ROUND 2 ALL POLLS [HERE]
PROPAGANDA BELOW
Lelouch Lamperouge/Suzaku Kururugi:
[image by doujin artist Hideaki HOBA]
From childhood-friends-to-lovers and friends-to-enemies to Knight-and-His-King corrupt and painful and all so tragically romantic--NO ONE DOES IT LIKE SUZALULU
(Semi-Spoilers)
Per Code Geass Screenwriter Ōkouchi Ichirō (translated from an interview): "It's impossible to describe it in a word, but it's a very strong bond. Lelouch as a kid, Lelouch in school, Lelouch as Zero--only Suzaku sees all of it. Kallen, Nunnally, C.C. even--none of them sees all of [Lelouch]. Playing together, running away, living, killing each other, even the knowledge of their having killed their own fathers. In terms of having revealed who they are, only these two are completely naked. This is probably why the two of them were able to team up in the end."
Gol D. Roger/Silvers Rayleigh:
Captain x right hand plus angst

They have two sons

{Once again decaf comes in clutch by being patient and understanding. XD Red marks indicate things that are only half true and therefore do not count:}
{• Hanekoma has plenty of red flags, but he does his best not to let those define him and will actively work to not let them affect his love life.
• If she desperately does not want him to, she can ask and he'll not call her "doll" (specifically), but he's probably going to let it slip beforehand at some point, as doll is one of those vintage terms he'll occasionally throw around.
• He doesn't know how to play chess right now, but he would likely be able to learn quickly. He just needs to be taught the rules.}
Tumblr media
“…”
She stares. Simply stares and refuses to accept the results. Not that she wouldn’t find it appealing, Mr. Hanekoma and herself, but she doesn’t quite understand. She sees him as a completely different person. He is completely different. She needs more time to fully comprehend the results. There will be no comments from Nunnally.
Tumblr media
Well, this is when Nunnally has a cognitive problem. As she sees Hanekoma as a completely different person than he is coming through this bingo. I think this is mainly because “how” they interacted so far as Hanekoma was mainly gentle and helpful towards her. But I think it would interesting to see when she actually starts to discover his darker sides. Also I actually think that in their case the half-trues is where they can mostly bind together. Especially from the demon!Nun perspective.

The narrative importance of the Ragnarök Connection
Tumblr media
Charles zi Britannia believes that humans are liars. His ideology is based on the fact that the suffering of the world comes from deceptions and, for this reason, the Ragnarök Connection consists of destroying the set of masks that people use in front of others to force the people to be themselves. This isn't a hive mind nor the literal destruction of the world. It's about, in Jungian terms, destroying the Persona archetype (the face we decide to show to others, not the one we truly are). This way people wouldn't have to lie, they could understand each other and conflicts would end. Sounds good, in theory. The problem is that the emperor's plan involves eliminating free will and individuality, which reflects Lelouch's parents' rejection of human nature. Charles' view of humanity is quite simplistic, binary and dismissive. That's why Charles appears painted red and blue on a background of the world in the opening.
Tumblr media
Lelouch and Suzaku reject this vision and this plan. Lelouch says that people still lie for good reasons (a purpose) and Suzaku agrees, claiming that they may lie to protect others like Euphemia and Shirley who kept Lelouch's secret. Lelouch understands that masks are necessary and are part of people's identity. He proves it in the last interaction he has with his father. Nunnally's smile is a mask, but that doesn't make it fake. It's her way of accepting her unfortunate fate and being grateful that she is still alive and is with her loved ones. Lelouch is aware of this and accepts her mask.
Tumblr media
The Ragnarök Connection involves the elimination of the effort that humans must make to learn and empathize with them. Consequently, no new experiences are forged and nothing evolves. And, if nothing changes, life loses total meaning and becomes empty. An empty life is a life without a future or hope or purpose. That's what Lelouch explains to CC and Rolo.
Tumblr media
Lelouch tells CC in the seventh episode of the first season: "Until I met you I was dead. An empty corpse existing behind a false guise of life, a life in which I did nothing real. Day to day, I merely went through the emotions of living as if I were a zombie. And I always had the feeling that I was gradually dying. If I’m condemned to go back to that, then I’d rather…"
Tumblr media
And then he tells Rolo in the fourth episode of R2: Rolo, what is the future? The future is hope. Without hope, your life is on hold, empty, waiting. And you have no hope beyond your mission, Rolo. If you capture C.C., what sort of future will it open for you? Things will just go on as they are, and nothing will change.
Tumblr media
Code Geass often uses Lelouch to emphasize the importance of having a purpose in life, even if all the characters demonstrate it in one way or another. It is one of the main themes. For Lelouch, Zero/the Rebellion was always that future. However, in this episode everything is questioned because Lelouch discovers that one of the reasons for his revenge is false because his mother is alive and, furthermore, his rebellion was part of his parents' plan (and CC to a lesser extent). Given this, he reaffirms his individuality and his will.
Tumblr media
God/C's world is the human will, which means that it is a collection of the wills of all the people who have ever existed, including Lelouch's. He activated his Geass, not to use it on God, but to influence it. At that moment his will was so powerful that he not only convinced God to stop his parents, he also increased the power of Geass and unlocked it in his other eyeIt's important to note that he made a wish, instead of using Geass, because that differentiates him from his father. While the Emperor intended to bend the C's world to his will, Lelouch doesn't want to do so. He saw himself reflected in his father. They both suffered in the past and wanted to change the world for the better. The thing is Charles was trying to impose peace and although he had good intentions, it was an evil and selfish act. Lelouch realized he was doing the same thing with Zero, technically.
Tumblr media
In this way, Lelouch understands that the end doesn't justify the means since his parents sacrificed everything for their ends and, as a result, lost themselves and their motivations. Humanity's sake or, what is the same, "reunion with those from whom we are separated" was the lie that Marianne and Charles used to convince themselves that they were right and were the scapegoat to justify all the sins they committed and allowed to be committed. Lelouch reveals their hypocrisy by pointing out the unconsciousness of their statements. Although Charles and Marianne took Lelouch and Nunnally away to protect them, they didn't seek justice for the crime committed, instead, they became VV's accomplices by using Charles' Geass on Nunnally and then they did not stop the war between Japan and Britannia because they wanted to get the Thought Elevator on Kaminejima Island for their plan. In the same way "Nunnally" was the scapegoat and the lie for Lelouch in his rebellion, however, Lelouch is honest with himself and recognizes that his true motivation was to protect the people he loved. This sincere display is what persuades Suzaku to work with him once again.
Tumblr media
One of the main unknowns of the series is "do the ends justify the means?" Suzaku says, "No, the means determine the ends and that's why I will follow the right path by trying to change the unjust regime from the inside while keeping my integrity intact." Lelouch says, "Yes and I can be this manipulative, control-freak leader over these 'pawns' if it means stopping Britannia/saving Nunally." The series answers that neither is completely correct and that both have their advantages and disadvantages. Lelouch and Suzaku end up realizing it here. Suzaku says, "If you want to achieve that end, you must act." And Lelouch says, "Yes, the means to that end requires me to reject something." That is, both must sacrifice something to achieve their goal.
Tumblr media
In short, the narrative objective of this scene is to show us that Lelouch and Suzaku understand what humanity wants and establish themselves as defenders of free will, as well as accepting the virtues and defects of the human condition. It's in the nature of men to lie and be confrontational, but they also dream of a tomorrow. Ultimately, the Ragnarök Connection is the final stage for Lelouch and Suzaku's evolution. Thanks to this plan, they perfect their ideals, manage to unite and are able to save the world. It's an important moment that solidifies all the themes of the series and sets the foundation for Lelouch and Suzaku's final plan: Zero Requiem.
Tumblr media
PS: If you think this analysis blew your mind, hope you see it from the perspective of Joseph Campbell's monomyth :P

Hi, so I was rewatching Code Geass (I hope you know it? I assume you do, you seem to know everything) and it occured to me that Geass powers are very similar to PoE powers, so... what if instead of Apples there were Code Bearers (hopefully in some kind of stasis for a good portion of history)?
Because I would really like Eve to run around Renaissanse Italy (although she probably wouldn't mention just who she is before the Vault) and because Altair is absolutely the type to fully develop a Geass.
...yes, also because it would be funny if Desmond became immortal instead of dying.
I wanted to say that I don’t know everything, sometimes I check the wiki or tvtropes to help me get a grasp of the ask but, funnily enough, I do know Code Geass. Code Geass is one of the animes I watched when it first aired in Japan then rewatched the English dub to see how different it is (the English dub is so good, getting Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch was such a top-tier choice). I should note that I only watched the two seasons and I could sorta remember the dating sim game, I didn’t watch the movies or Akito the Exiled. Oh, and I can barely remember Nightmare of Nunnally manga even though I did read a few chapters of it XD
In other words, we’re focusing on what was revealed in R2 about Code Bearers for this one XD
Now, let’s change it a bit. The Code Bearers are the Isus’ greatest achievement. They were meant to be the shepherds of the Isus’ slaves.
But Minerva screwed that up, giving them a sense of self’.
To be companions.
But it was because of their sense of self that they grew to like the company of humans more than their masters.
And they revolted, using the very power granted to them by the Isus to ‘bless’ specific humans that led the charge.
The Isu-human war was not even between the Isus and the humans but between the Isus and the Code Bearers, hiding in the shadows and using the humans as their puppets, granting power to those that would later be known as Geass users.
Minerva had been spared from a death sentence by the very Code Bearer she had given a sense of ‘self’ to.
Her daughter…
Eve.
The Isus were killed. Those who were left alive were exiled or imprisoned, left to die a slow death.
Then…
The humans revolted.
Against the Geass users and their Code Bearers.
Minerva does not know why.
Perhaps one of users or the bearers had used their power selfishly.
Perhaps it is simply the nature of being with enough intelligence such as Isus, humans, and Code Bearers to turn against what they believe to be controlling them.
Minerva had been too busy…
Creating the last Code Bearer.
Her son.
The one that shall gift the most powerful Geass of all.
The Geass to control the very fabric of time.
.
The Code Bearers have dwindled in sizes and they have grown to distrust one another, believing that one of them or one of the Geass users they have gifted with the power of the Geass had betrayed them which led to the ‘witch hunts’.
This is why the Code Bearers try their best to remain in seclusion and to not change the trajectory of humanity.
Until…
Eve found Minerva’s final resting place.
An underground laboratory, half-destroyed thanks to an earthquake.
And that’s when she learned of her ‘little brother’, Minerva’s final Code Bearer.
Desmond.
And Eve sets out to find him.
.
Unknown to him…
Desmond isn’t exactly the typical Code Bearer.
Because Minerva figured the best way to create a Code Bearer that will not fall victim to the corrupting influence of their immortality and power is to change a human into a Code Bearer.
A human that had willingly sacrificed his life to save the world before.
So Minerva tweaked the timeline and captured Desmond Miles’ consciousness a second before his death and transferred it to the Code Bearer body she had prepared.
Desmond has no idea what Code Bearers are. He does know what a Geass is, the Assassins and Templars have been searching for Geass users for centuries.
He also know…
That the man who gave Altaïr his Geass was a man that looked too similar to him to be a coincidence.
A man…
… who looked exactly like Desmond.
(That’s right, this is going to be a closed loop where the Code Bearer who gave Altaïr his Geass is actually Desmond himself, having been given a Code Bearer body. Considering it’s Altaïr, it’s highly possible that he would even upgrade from being a Geass user to being a Code Bearer but there has only been one human to have ever done that… Eve’s Geass user… Adam… who disappeared a few weeks before the witch hunts begins)
