Osteospermum Blue Eyed Beauty (Osteospermum ecklonis) Cape daisy, Cape marguerite, daisybushes, a tough plant native to South Africa. This one was given to me in a pot and then the pot plant died. I did however take some cuttings [as insurance 😁] Now I’m layering them to propagate. Pic No.4 shows a stem coming from one pot, into the mix on a second pot and then flowering. I will cut it when the roots are established and then I’ll have 2. 😁 Once established the weeds will really struggle to push through and over run these. Prefers a full sun to part shade position and are extremely low maintenance. Ideal for sunny borders and great for container planting. #Osteospermum #BlueEyedBeauty #SouthAfrica #WaterWise #Daisy #abcmygarden #Yellow #Purple (at Belmont, New South Wales, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjZy1o-PTW_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Six on Saturday: Plugging Along

African daisy is in all but the first. Both are in the second and third. Both are from South Africa. Both have been getting recycled from where they are migrating a bit too much, and getting plugged into more appropriate situations.…

African Daisy
African daisy hybrids are generally sterile.
Old fashioned trailing African daisy was becoming too common by the time it succumbed to the Big Freeze just prior to Christmas of 1990. Shrubbier and more colorful cultivars of hybrids with similar species, particularly Osteospermum ecklonis, are now more popular. Such hybrids mostly lack species designation because their lineage is very…
