A little bit more whining and some suggestions on how to patch up the plot holes under the cut 😂

If Hongjo had been a man we would've surely seen his hero's journey in this show. That's what I remain salty about. Everything in the premise was perfectly set up for witch/shaman Hongjo, but this show just wasn't modern enough for Hongjo to be the hero of her own story. To the show's credit though, Shinyu was also imperfect and quite spineless/selfish with some of his decisions (still loved the man, but just being real).

It shouldn't be a big surprise considering the rich man-poor woman premise of the show. That too is very traditional. But the spells and charms had me fooled! 😂

I'm still so obsessed with the Shinhong chemistry that I could easily rewatch their moments 2-3 times and not get tired of them. I just need to ignore the plot entirely and vigorously and focus on how endearing those two are together. I still can't quite get myself to rewatch the finale out of annoyance, though. 🥲

In my fix it version of Destined:

Hongjo would've recovered Aengcho's memories in ep 15 or 16 and she would've used her witch/shaman powers to put a charm or spell on the gardener to catch him.

Hongjo would've recovered and saved Uram.

The relationship between the gardener's past self and Aengcho would've been explored revealing some kind of history between them leading to his obsession with her and Hongjo. They were both shamans, so perhaps they interacted because of that.

The gardener's moonless magic and lack of physical repercussions for his curses would've been explained. (Also what were the bloody tree tags all about? And what did the cursed plant do exactly?)

Shinyu would've cleared Aengcho's reputation or paid respect to her in some way, as Mujin did kill Aengcho, which allowed Mujin to save himself and (as far as we know) live a relatively fullfilling life with a wife and (cursed) children, while she died young and with the label of prince killer on her name.

The aftermath of Aengcho's death and its effect on Mujin would've been explored more. What happened to Mujin after Aengcho died? Where were Aengcho's remains buried? Did he visit them? Did Aengcho haunt him in his lifetime?

There would've been more flashbacks from purely Aengcho's perspective and about her life as a shaman. Also WHAT WAS HER SECRET TALENT??? ANSWER MEEEEEE

Nayeon's motivations would've been more fleshed out and Hongjo would've stood up to her earlier in the show.

The lazy plot device of having leads run into danger for no good reason would have been avoided entirely.

Shinyu's mother would've gotten a divorce (and dated Wook).

Ms. Ma wouldn't have married Mr. Gong.

Eunwol's secrecy and past life would've been addressed in some way.

(Personal preference, but) Shinyu would've stood up against his father to defend his mother and Hongjo.

Shinyu would've also told Hongjo about his arrangement with Nayeon and he would've dropped Nayeon much sooner out of respect towards both women.

There were endless plot holes, but that's a short list of the changes I'd make to patch them up. I do find myself oscillating between annoyance at the dumb plot and on the other hand charm at the Shinhong chemistry, though. They're just too tender! 😩

I left Ruby home alone last night when I went to go see Come From Away, which is something I pretty much never do. She almost always has someone with her, either me or my parents. I was a bit worried about how she'd do, but I didn't need to worry at all! She did so well! When I got home, she had clearly just woken up from a nap and was very happy to see me but didn't seem at all distressed at having been left alone for a few hours. Then she was so good and sweet the rest of the night until bedtime (not always a given for her 😂). It makes me feel good to know that I can leave her for a little bit if I need to. She's going to be two in May and she's come such a long way these past two years. It's like my baby is growing up 🥺

There was a time when Sonic brought a fight to our doorstep, but no matter how Sonic may have hurt him in the past, he has chosen to preserve my master's life. Nine seems to trust him, and Sonic has not threatened his life. So, as I do not have the capacity to experience such things as "emotions", and they would not matter even if I did have the ability, I do not mind if my master associates with Sonic the Hedgehog. If Nine is happy, and the hedgehog does not intend harm upon him, then all is well.
