Rest now, Love
Tumblr media
C/W; Mentions of overstimulation, Bathtub sex, Virgin!Thoma, attempted murder in the beginning, slight rushed ending. (This is Anarchyincarnate's blog after all)
You watched as the decayed remains of a sinner compiled into a small mound onto the tatami floor under you. The woman was on trial for combining illegal substances into your meal of the day, though thankfully you didn't eaten the tainted concoction. Ayaka wasn't as lucky, however.
You rushed to the princesses aid after seeing the girl coughed violently post-finishing half of her plate, with Ayato looking at you in concern. The commissioner ordered all servants to gather into the main hall, while Thoma assisted the weakened Ayaka into another room, her arm slinging onto his shoulder.
Ayato was furious beyond belief and his cold glare was on full display, no longer he bare the snarky and coy facade. The scent of blood wafted through the air, as thick gold fog began to spread from your bloody palm. Having digged your pointed nails into your soft flesh, you released your power into the surrounding area, rendering everyone speechless.
"I will create a bargain for you all, confess your wrongdoing now, or forever hold your silence." You remarked, eye twitching in anger. Your power is harmful to humans in large doses, so it's clear either one confess or all of them suffer. Vision holders are surprisingly more durable than normal citizens, as such Ayato merely leaned back against a pillar.
Eventually a man caved in and bowed down, pressing his forehead onto the floor. "My highness, lady Yumeno had boasted to herself earlier that it'll be a matter of time until your reign comes to an end. This is preposterous of her so please, Punish her for her crime." He said, taking in deep breaths between each word as his lungs hurt due to the toxic air.
Yumeno who heard it was taken aback, she had made sure no one was around her when she assured herself a moment before. She stepped back, glancing towards the main door, looking for a chance to escape.
"Sieze her." Ayato's voice cut through the thick atmosphere, and with a snap of his fingers, his shuumatsuban workers held onto Yumeno's body rendering her immobile.
You took a step forward towards the girl, raising her chin with your index finger. "A pity such beauty had gone to waste." You chided, before you felt something pierce your abdomen.
Looking down, you saw a bloodstain that spread out amongst your white dress shirt. The end of a dagger was imbedded into your side, with Yumeno's purple nails letting go of it.
She smirked, and made a run for the door. Her escape hadn't gone far as a grotesque, and monstrous form with numerous mouths and eyes grew out of your right arm, it's teeth embedded into Yumeno's back and rib cage.
"What a fool." You mumbled before transfering your decaying power into said arm, effectively withering her body into dust.
Those who were present thankfully had closed their eyes under Ayato's command, saving you from further questioning. You reformed your arm to its original state, and pulled the dagger out of you as the damaged area began to heal.
Ayato walked towards you, dismissing the servants and placing your still bloodied hand into his gloved ones.
"Kamisato, let's see how your sister is faring. We shouldn't waste anymore time." You muttered, waving off his concern. The two of you walked towards the ward, where Thoma is waiting.
The blonde had finished wiping Ayaka's blood that dripped onto her chin as the latter slumbered peacefully. Thoma perked up hearing the door closed, turning around to see you and his master walk in.
"How is she?" Ayato's tone was laced with concern after seeing her in such condition. Thoma got up from his chair and allowed you to take a closer look at Ayaka's body.
"Arsenic. A common poison from Fontaine." You deduced after noticing her laboured breathing. "It's likely to be non fatal, though I recommend you give her this medication when she wakes up." You grabbed a small bottle of pills in the cupboard above you.
The commissioner nodded, and smiled, thankful for your help. Thoma glanced down and noticed the golden blood still dripping down your hand. "My lord, we must-" "Prepare a warm bath for me along with clean clothes, I'll be waiting here with Ayato." You cut him off, sitting down onto a small sofa beside the bed, while Ayato sat by his sister's side.
"U-Understood, sir." Thoma bowed and left you both to do his task. You took out a book of your choice, and began to read it's content. Ayato smiled seeing a familiar sakura bookmark dangle from the books spine.
Your ears heard the familiar slide screen door opening, and Thoma walked in. "It's ready, sir."
Bidding Ayato farewell, you closed your book and placed it on the sofa. Thoma lead you both through the mansion, and opened the bathroom door for you.
There were dendrobium petals scattered in the tub, along with your favourite toiletries. You began to undo your clothing, dropping the fabric onto the flooring below. Thoma, being the respectful man he is, turned his head away from your body, a faint redness staining his cheeks.
The sound of water splashing brought his gaze back to you as he sat on the tub's edge. He removed his gloves before placing his hands onto your head. The man poured some shampoo onto his palms before rubbing the liquid through your beautiful locks.
You sighed softly, liking the tender touch his hands brought. Closing your eyes for a brief moment, your mind wandered into the past. The laugh of your sibling as they splashes water onto you while you bathe them brought a smile to your face. Opening them back up, you noticed Thoma's fixated gaze on you.
"Is something the matter, Thoma?" You asked him, only for the blonde to shook his head with a smile. "Not at all, Your honor."
There was a comfortable silence, something you didn't have back then.
"Would you like me to join you?" He suddenly proposed. After some thought, you nodded and made room for him infront of you. Without a moment to waste, Thoma shed himself of his clothes and slowly dipped his feet into the warm water.
The water sloshed and dripped down the tub. It was a bit cramped, so Thoma managed to sit on your lap with his legs on either side of yours.
"Ah, sorry." He bashfully said, while you thought nothing of it. Thoma was tempted to pull away, but you brought him with you when you leaned back against the edge.
The blonde noticed your closed eyes as you embraced him, resting your hands onto his back. Imagery of his fantasies with you began to pop up in his mind, making the man more and more red when the fantasy turned... Lewd.
'W-What am I thinking?! This is Your honor I'm thinking about!' He thought to himself.
'But then again... They are right there, ah I can smell the mint and amakumo fruit shampoo... Has their lips always looked so...delectable?'
Without a second thought, Thoma pressed his lips against theirs, savouring the strawberry lip balm coating it. You opened your eyes halfway, and hummed at the sight. Returning the kiss wasn't what Thoma imagined, but it was welcomed nonetheless.
Parting your lips from his, the blonde quickly kissed you again, slightly moaning when you deepened it by sliding your tongue in. The water swayed as Thoma began to grind his cock onto your abdomen, liking the friction it made.
"To think my cutest little acolyte shared some rather... Scandalous imagery of his god," You teased, enjoying the sight of Thoma's red ears.
"Your honor... Forgive me of my sinful mind-" "Nonsense, I enjoyed the sight." You shared one last kiss before running your fingers down his hips and into the crevice of his ass.
Thoma felt a rush course through his veins as your finger went into him, wiggling around trying to find his sweet spot. You noticed the way his back suddenly arched when you pressed onto a spot. Found it.
"Do you like it?" You asked innocently. The man nodded, and grinded his ass back against your finger. Adding another one in, Thoma let out a moan.
"Be careful now, we wouldn't want to broadcast your sinful behaviour to the others, right?" You chuckled seeing his eyes widened at the slightly loud sound he let out.
You added a third one in, and it was enough for Thoma to spray his cum onto your abdomen. The blonde felt embarrassed seeing himself cum that quickly, which was a given since he was still technically a virgin.
He believed an old proverb that read, "Only the purest virgins are capable to enrapturing the creators heart, one must save themselves should the creator took interest in them." Making him and many others save themselves upon discovering your arrival a few months back.
You undid his tie and places it onto the floor, combing his hair with your unoccupied hand. After a bit, you slide your fingers out, and held onto the fat of his cheeks.
"This will hurt, alot. But I promise it'll be okay." You assured the nervous blonde, who took a deep breath and nodded. Slowly and carefully, you pushed Thoma's hips down and letting his hole take your cock in. Thoma's hands that were once on your shoulders tugged onto your locks of hair, sucking in a sharp breath.
Halfway down, you stopped, letting him adjust to your size. You may be aloof at times, but you've always made sure your acolytes are comfortable during these sessions.
The man calmed himself down, giving you the green light. His hips were pushed down even more until his ass met your thighs.
"Are you alright?" You worriedly asked him as he was shaking. He nodded vigorously, and got himself comfortable resting his head on your shoulder.
You began to move slowly but even then you managed to brought him into another orgasm. Despite your hesitance to continue, he wanted more.
He let go of your hair, and placed his hands onto your shoulder. Raising his hips until only your tip remained in, before slamming them down until his ass met your thighs again.
Thoma repeated these movements over and over, arching his back like a bridge and water overflowing the tub and spilled onto the floor. You didn't mind his enthusiasm and began to help him out.
Eventually after a bit, he stopped as you emptied the fourth load into him. By now, the water was a murky colour and you chuckled.
"Thank you, dear. You've truly helped me relax." You kissed him one last time before pulling out of him. Truth be told, you were under alot of stress from managing the entirety of Teyvat, so having Thoma relieve that stress of yours really made you happy.
"I-I'm glad I could be of service, my lord..." And with that, he fell asleep on your shoulder. Using your powers you lifted the boy up while you unclogged the drain of the tub. Wrapping Thoma with a clean towel while you changed into new clothes, before you made your way to his bedroom, oblivious to the jealous stares Ayato casted upon your back.

to die in your lover’s arms. || diluc
“i died in your arms tonight.”
synopsis: regrets come late.
warning: angst because you fucking die. teehee. 🍓
Tumblr media
diluc's hand is placed on the back of your head, bringing you closer to him, foreheads touching. partially dried blood clung to his coat, and onto skin. it did not hurt, but he felt the crimson prickle against the fabric of his clothing.
red red red & red.
there is nothing else he can see but the thought of you leaving, walking out of that door and right into death's grasp. his chest tightens further, ribs closing in on his lungs; tighter and tighter.
he held you with such care, afraid that he would damage you even more. there is ringing in your ears, combined with sweet nothings whispered in the air — i love you i love you i love you. please don't go.
it's not like you wanted to.
the stench of death and bloodshed around you forced you to take shorter breaths. bile rose to your throat, threatening to spill. if it weren't for the gaping hole on the right side of your torso, you would've been vomiting your guts out by now.
it all happened so quickly, in such a short amount of time.
they came for your fellow knights, people that you considered an extended family — slaughtering them with no mercy. all of that carnage, just to relay a message, as if to say that they could take any life they considered insignificant if they so pleased.
and worst of all, you could not even bring yourself to land one single strike. it could have been anywhere — their arms, legs, maybe even their neck, to end it without the feeling of guilt sinking into your very core.
if you had only gathered courage to save them, you would not have to die a monster. you would not die fearing the eternal flames of the abyss waiting patiently for you on the other side.
and even in death, the guilt claws at you — relentless, unforgiving.
taking a life to save another — to save yourself, at least, might have been the better choice than to stand there — staring, waiting, watching, like a helpless wounded animal in the face of danger. you did nothing, and that was the worst mistake of all. for that weakness and hesitance, you are sentenced to die in your lover's hands.
your lover, a hero that can save anyone… except for you.
oh… what was he to do?
you were losing too much of your precious blood, your breath slowly turning ragged while your bloodied hands cling desperately onto diluc's shoulders. you had stopped trying to apply pressure on the wound — there was barely anything to apply pressure on, anyway.
you didn't ask him to save you.
you knew that he couldn’t.
he’s lost too much in his life and you wished that you could help ease the grief that he couldn’t let go of even after all of these years for a bit longer.
but you were thankful.
that you were the cause for so many of his smiles, and you were there on his good days. you were happy that you became his lover. you were happy that you could love him and see him for what he truly was, not just the bitter tycoon everyone knew him as.
you’d watch over him — from above or below, to ensure his safety and his joy. may someone with a heart as caring and loving as yours meet him to light up his world. to give him inspiration every morning. to support him.
as you took your final breaths, the light inside of him died out like a tiny flame to a strong gust of wind.
he was both cursed and blessed to have had a lover with a heart like yours.
because in the end,
it'll still be you,
only you,
always you.

so i was kinda skimming through what that other person was saying about "oh binding properly can't cause costochondritis" etc and. honestly it's a little wild to me because even ignoring the fact that yes it Absolutely can cause it. you can also get it by having a respiratory infection and or having coughing fits that are too hard/long?? personally i have asthma and while ive never been formally told "hey you have this" i know that bad fits will leave me hurting for a good couple weeks
like. i swear even in healthy folks the human body is an absolute trainwreck that you look at wrong and it'll throw a hissy fit, idk why it's SO hard to believe that even perfectly safe perfectly fitted binders can cause issues
Yeah that's the problem is 'oh binding properly doesn't cause problems' but the problem is what is properly? The 8 hour rule is a general estimate and for some people even wearing a binder for an hour or so can create problems with breathing. Literally you can get it from wearing a bra, which has way more give and breathing room than a binder. Wearing anything with a tightening effect over the ribs and lungs puts you at risk. It's not a myth holy shit I cannot believe that incredibly dangerous statement.
And that's also ignoring that many trans mascs DO bind incorrectly, either knowingly because it helps with dysphoria, or unknowingly because no one taught them how to do it right. Which... was my point... the person teaching me how to be trans didn't know how to bind... so she was not able to stop me from binding with an unsafe binder... and thankfully it seems I was able to avoid long term damage but 'yeah my ribs just hurt after a while' was something I just thought was the cost of binding until a trans guy saw what I was doing *years later* and went 'nononononono here literally you can have my old binders please stop doing that to your poor lungs and ribcage'
It's not her fault. She didn't know. How could she? Why would she? I should have been mentored by a trans man to begin with. But despite claims that trans men dominate trans spaces and that there are soooooo many resources for trans men... there were none for me. So how would I have known anything besides 'binder makes boobs disappear'? And how could she have taught me that without the lived experience?

Something has gone wrong, incredibly wrong and the twins look at each other in absolute terror before looking at everyone that had gathered at Wonderland for a lovely dinner catered by Irene. They were deep into the mess before Yangyang realised what he had done. Maybe he should have read the bottle before pouring it into everyone's cups earlier.
"What did you do?" Chan yells at Yangyang, who is still holding the bottle in his hands before trying to hide it but Alice is faster, using her telekinesis to get the bottle away from the male witch. "What the fuck is this?"
Ryujin looks at the group, swallowing the lump in her throat and elbowing a nervously laughing Yangyang in the ribs. "Yang and I... well, we were working on a potion that would allow us to swap powers with those who drank it."
"Like a body swap but you keep your body... and take on whatever the other person is." Yangyang finishes while Ryujin nods.
"We were trying to find a way to escape our coven in an emergency. The effects last about a week or so, maybe more, before beginning to fade so it would have given us enough time to hide while they hunted the wrong person."
Jongin growls, slamming his hand on the table, "stop yapping and tell us what that means for us." Jangmi grabs his arm to keep him from lunging at Yangyang who looks like he's about to laugh his ass off and run away in fear.
"I had been working on something that would help our supernatural, fast-healing friends to get a buzz tonight but I, maybe, possibly, definitely, grabbed the wrong bottle and-" He jumps out of the way as Kai hurls a knife at him.
"KAI!"
The clone glares at Alice, "do you realise what they've just done? You going to be fine not being able to read everyone's mind or flicking your wrist and grabbing things? You think you can handle Hyunrin like that?"
Kai finds himself on the ground as Alice squints and causes the male to fly backwards without warning. "Don't you dare question my parenting abilities."
Irene, who had remained quiet, stands up, clearing her throat and the chaos that was going to begin, with everyone raising their voices, immediately quietens as the Queen of Hell starts to speak. "So, how long until we know what we are dealing with?"
The twins look at each other before looking at everyone else, "maybe an hour, maybe less. We haven't actually tested it out and we don't know how it'll work with a group this big."
"Fucking great." Jongin huffs, leaning back in his chair.
Time ticks by slowly, everyone remaining silent while Irene sits on her phone to get things organised and Juyeon and Chan try to do some damage control with the club. Nobody notices the effects taking place until Jangmi yelps in surprise, Seohyun looking over at her as her tail disappears and tries to shift - only to find nothing happens.
"Here we go." Chris raises a glass, smiling sadly as he feels his connection to his pack fading.
"Good luck to us all," Irene sighs, wondering how they are all going to survive their crazy new lives.
Tumblr media
Chaos has fallen in Wonderland this Halloween with the muses unable to be themselves completely. Some will adjust rather well while others are going to have a hard time. This can affect chats if you want it to, you are welcome to have a fun little side chat or add it for a later date - or not at all. Up to you so please let admin know.
Please remember that this may affect how a muse responds on dash and behaviours due to different emotions surrounding this. They will still be living their own lives but just not having their usual abilities.

I just had my best run of Darkest Dungeon 2, and I'm not sure I can ever top it, nor am I sure I even want to. I have to tell someone about it, so I'm coming to you, tumblr.
I hadn't played DD2 in months, so like half of the mechanics in the game are totally new to me. Like too many blue dots permanently increases the health of the final boss. Also, relationships are really hard. But then I get five god roll obituary booklets and my crew mourns the dead so hard that they respect the fuck out of each other. No amorous or whatever else, we're hopeful and respectful as fuck.
So I steamroll the game, HARD. I'm using my ez mode crew of Dizzy, Barry, Paracelsus, and Tentacles. I steamroll so hard that the Exemplar, who looks like the god of all you can eat ribs at golden corral and one of the scariest enemies you can encounter, freezes my game mid ass-handing just to stay alive a little longer before Barry taunts him a second time.
I get to lungs-mcgee, because I prefer him to chastity and voyeur, and I go straight into a damage race because I have absolutely no way to deal with his mechanic. Also, my plague doctor has 5 death resist, because I gave her a trinket that gives her a second move half the time, so she will literally die if she's killed.
A few close calls later, everyone is stressed as fuck and I'm praying one of my characters lives long enough to secure the win. The thing is, Paracelsus respects Barry so hard, he turned from a normal tank into a dodge tank. He finally hits maximum stress, and this bitch resurrects himself with pure DETERMINATION. Everyone else is at 1 health. I'm not getting through this with everyone. The boss has so much death resist that it'll take me slapping him so many times for him to finally die.
But you see, I'd given Barry the Gauntlet of Fuck Your Death Resist, and not only that, but Barry respects the fuck out of Paracelsus. Plague Lady Paracelsus brings the boss down to death's door, but then FUCKING BARRY COMES IN WITH THE RESPECTFUL ASS SLAP OF DESTINY AND SENDS THE ELDRITCH LUNGS BACK TO THE SHADOW REALM.
Barry pulled that shit on Paracelsus' turn, EVEN THOUGH his turn was RIGHT AFTER HERS. Barry respectfully fucking hat tipped his fedora so goddamn hard it killed an eldritch monster that personifies human rage.
And everyone survived. No drama, just four respectful and hopeful friends.

Of leather tooling and love
(Tag mini bang 2021)
Here’s my story for @tagminibang. I want to thank @tracybirds for their amazing art and working with me. Also, I thank them being extremely patient with learning about leather tooling and for adapting to the time zone difference to get this put together.
(I added my own art piece - “John’s” astronomy cuff… mark I, and will link directly to tracybirds’s art when I can fully figure this out).
Tumblr media
•••••••
John Tracy was mad... so mad he was making an indelible mark that would take forever for someone to wipe away or cover up.
Fortunately it was leather, and he was tooling a design so no one would really want to cover it up, but he still was at points surprised he wasn't punching holes in the design… or the table.
A chirp however made him question the latter.
“John, please do not hit the table so hard. You are making my processors overload,” gently scolded EOS as the man was swinging the rawhide mallet.
While fortunately her interruption didn’t make him miss, allowing him to add to the octopus design, John set the leather tools down and sighed. “I’m sorry EOS,” he said gently.
“I accept your apology, but I do not understand why stamping cowhide will help your anger,” said the AI.
“As I said, it’s leather tooling, and it’s better to use my anger for something creative,” John said quietly.
“Even this … item?”
He looked at the cuff he was working on again and gave a half smile. “Even this wallet,” the astronaut chuckled.
After giving EOS a task to do, reminding her not to adjust the gravity back to zero to avoid any spills from his work, John looked at the project again.
He sighed, understanding his curious “data child’s” curiosity. Leather tooling, while a bit outdated in some people's eyes, was one of the few learned talents and gifts he still had from his Grandfather as well as his Dad.
And - it reminded him of Gordon, in good and bad times.
Gordon… his brother with the wacky sense of dress.
The aquanaut preferred to wear on average two leather bands and then a woven smaller band with the first two oyster pearls he found.
That's why he stopped - at the moment, it felt as though if he took out more anger on the mallet and metal stamping tool, he was hurting Gordon. Triple if he managed to hit it so hard it tore through the damp leather.
Who knew Gordon’s penchant for being the only one to wear leather wrist bands would save his life?
A week and a half prior... he chose to wear two broader bands on one arm and his usual one on his other.
They were nearly the width of a cuff, with designs that took forever to explain to EOS. It was an unusual decision, but one that the brothers were thankful Gordon made.
They had been called out to a rescue - a skyscraper fire in Houston, and all land based brothers had been called as it required high rise rescue.
Gordon had been on level 70 of the building, rescuing an unconscious woman. He had secured the victim in with his harness and started to use the pulley to get them to the top of the building for Thunderbird to lift them to safety.
An explosion had knocked them for a loop, smashing Gordon into the building.
Gordon took the brunt of the hit, slamming into the frame.
In spite of the helmet, he too was knocked out. Worse, the grapple slipped, and glass shards, still stuck in their mounts, sliced down his forearms.
It cut the neoprene... and through part of his thick leather cuffs.
When they recovered both victims, Virgil and John immediately triaged the two. She had a minor concussion and smoke inhalation.
Gordon however not only too had the bump on the head - thanks to the helmet taking the brunt, he also a dislocated shoulder, and a few cracked and broken ribs.
But what was the immediate concern at the time of the rescue was his arms, particularly the wrists. They took the brunt of the damage.
The leather bands however, saved his life. They made what would've been life threatening - if not fatal, slashes on his wrist to mostly superficial cuts.
The bands though were completely destroyed as far as wearability. Virgil would have to apologize for cutting them completely off - but not why - later.
Gordon was taken to a hospital in Houston's esteemed Medical Center, where he went through multiple surgeries, a few pints of blood, and lots of rest.
That was a week ago, as Gordon had a healing rib rebreak, nicking his lung. It was repaired, the bleeder stopped, but Gordon had to be put under sedation for a couple of days to ensure the site healed.
Though they had lifted the sedation the day prior and were waiting for Gordon to come out of it, the family would have to wait couple of days before he could return to Tracy Island.
That lead to where he was today.
John sighed, and looked around Thunderbird Five.
He had been practicing some leather tooling at University of Houston's art department.
That was before a space rescue needed both him and Alan, and afterword, he stayed on Five to keep apprised of a possible hurricane.
Well that and have an excuse to decline another lecture invite from NASA.
John was thankful that U of H understood his need for privacy, and that having a PhD in Aeronautics and Space allowed him some special favors.
The positive it included the use of one of the art studios to leather tool...
The negative? The trade off was as long as he also donated one of his famous astronomy tooled leather cuffs for a fundraiser.
He had already finished the band for the auction two days prior, complete with the antique leather dye, golden paint accents in the star constellations, and steampunk like swing hinge cuff. Not the easiest to make, especially setting the rivets for the cuff.
Worth it to John - small price to pay, but would reap rewards for U of H’s generosity. He’d bring it to them when he visited Gordon again.
The astronaut then looked at the octopus carved and stamped on the wallet. "It was too damn close," he said out loud, but at the same time, he was thankful. This was for Gordon later on.
John then smiled at the thought. It was indeed for his aquanaut brother, one they could’ve lost in that fire.
He was about to stamp the leather again... when a beep startled him.
The astronaut asked EOS to answer it, and the image of Virgil came out of the monitor.
"Gordon's come to," said Virgil.
"Fully?"
The older brother shrugged. "Mostly, but he should be fully alert by the time you get to the hospital," he said, then frowned. "He's asking about the leather bands... especially the one that was 'Mom's belt'."
John furrowed his brow.
Yes, that belt bracelet.
Fortunately the one bracelet Gordon hadn't worn that day.
Unfortunately, the one Gordon duplicated - with varying degrees of success, he did wear nearly daily.
John could imagine Gordon’s initial reaction… he’d feel the same way.
"Virgil, Gordon didn't wear that cuff that day," he said. "He intentionally put a small Thunderbird stamp on his so he didn't confuse the two."
Virgil nodded. "I know, but you know him and anesthetics... gives him the wrong memory if he's not goofy from it," he said, then chuckled. “Last time he was trying to feed Parker poster pancakes on the USS Lexington.”
John scoffed at the memory. "That one still has Parker perplexed," he said, then stood, stretching. "Try to talk him down from his confusion. I'll be there in a few minutes. I need to get something."
Virgil noticed John’s labors on the table and quirked an eyebrow. "What about the wallet you're working on?"
"It'll be fine. The leather can be dampened again to finish it up. I expected it to be a longer project over the bracelets I made at U of H,” he said, putting the stamping tool and mallet down.
The artist noticed John’s attempt to deflect, and his eyes twinkled in mischief. "So… how many projects did the University ‘con’ you out of for the auction this time?" said the artist with a teasing smirk.
He wasn't going to give his younger brother too much grief - he still owed the University at least one hand blown glass vase.
"Just the one - the astronomy cuff."
Virgil gave a soft whistle. "That one? You won't even make that one for me."
"Then bid on the one they're selling," snarked John as he cleaned up the rest of the leather tooling supplies.
Virgil merely laughed - yeah, he was going to bid if anything to help a department who helped his brother cope through this.
John then picked up a box wrapped in sea turtle wrapping paper. "I'll be there shortly,” he said walking to the space elevator.
“FAB.”
********
Gordon Tracy looked out the windows of his hospital room from his hovering hospital bed and signed.
He was thankful he wasn't stuck with a view of the generators. The hospital still hadn't gotten over teasing him - gently - about calling them "Donald Duck" in a post-anesthesia comment the other time he was there for an injury.
Here, it was a view of one of the garden parks the area had.
What he wasn't thankful for was the fact he lost the leather band that was made from his mother's belt.
He looked at the long bandages wrapped on his wrists and lower arms and sighed.
Sure, Virgil kept insisting it was not the band, but he knew his bracelets.
Yes, he had to admit they had to be fully cut off too keep him from bleeding out through his wrists - he knew one cut was still too close.
Still though... he had to concede if it was gone, it was his mother protecting him.
Even Scott had told him point blank it was the only time he was thankful Gordon had forgotten to take the bands off.
Rumor had it Scott was even considering consulting with Brains to create leather arm bracers.
His theory was if it worked for the cowboys in the 1800s and 1900s, why not the technological cowboys of today?
Gordon looked at the sky and smiled. "Thanks Mom for watching over both that woman and me," he said, then looked at the bands.
There were blood stains on them, which were not going to come out.
Sure, they could be dyed dark before being stored, most likely black, and he could have John help him there. That said, it was not going to matter when they had been made unwearable when Virgil cut them off.
There were the button and hole fixtures sure... but the aquanaut understood Virgil was going to slice first, apologize for saving Gordon's life later.
Blood loss didn’t wait for bracelets.
A knock at the door shook him out of his thoughts. "Come in," he said, adjusting the bed to where it floated back to connect with the main vitals scanner.
John entered and smiled at seeing his alert brother, the first time he'd been fully awake since before the accident.
"Hi Gordon, how are you feeling," he said, wincing slightly at the cliche.
His fish loving brother just smiled, but the astronaut didn't miss the sadness in the cinnamon colored eyes. "I'm having a whale of a time... too bad the lake below probably only has ducks," he said, chuckling slightly.
“Must be going ‘quackers’ then,” joked John, only to watch as Gordon fiddled with the remains of the bracelets. John coughed. "Gordon..."
"I know. They had to be cut off in order to save my life," the aquanaut said, sighing. "It's just... this was mom's - look at the paisley here..."
John put his hand over both his younger brother's and smiled. "It isn't the one made with Mom's belt, trust me,” he said, smiling, then pointing to a detail. "See? Here's the thunderbird stamp you used for yours."
Gordon took a closer look, and his eyes widened slightly.
John was right... it was indeed there, just had been cut in half by the cutting tools. Well he hoped so and not the glass, but that was a story left unsaid at the time.
"It's not mom's," the aquanaut whispered instead, tears of happiness flooding his eyes.
The astronaut smiled and gave his brother a gentle hug. "No it isn't. I made sure the one with Mom's was in the fire safe - just in case, on the Island before Alan brought me to the hospital," he said gently.
The two hugged gently for a while, the mix of hospital bluster and soothing sounds from the Muzak in the hallways mingling between the brother's hushed tones.
After a few minutes, Gordon sat up, and noticed the sea turtle box his brother was holding. "Funny looking NASA paper," the aquanaut teased, chuckling softly when John rolled his eyes.
He knew John tried to avoid the facility if possible.
Not because he didn't enjoy it, but because the last time he visited the center, Mission Control crowded him the point he fainted from the social claustrophobia.
Alan found it amusing.
EOS found it amusing to force Alan to eat freeze dried brussel sprouts and liver with onions meals every day his last rotation on Thunderbird Five for his "rude behavior."
Both men chuckled in the memory, and John handed his brother the box. "Nope, this is for you, a get well soon present," said he said.
Gordon carefully opened up the box, which John had purposely wrapped the two parts separately due to the shoulder being strapped, and gasped.
Inside were two bracelets.
One was similar to his mother's belt, but the paisley and flower design that was in his mom's band was adjusted slightly to include southwestern printed sea turtles and a squid stamp John had custom made. Like his mother's, it was dyed a medium brown.
The other... took Gordon's breath away.
The edges were done in a simple border - scalloped with the occasional octopus and sea turtle stamp in between the scallops. It was dyed mahogany.
It was mostly just border stamped... because the concho fastened in the center was the showstopper.
It was a golden sea turtle, swimming in the middle of a pewter center. “How?…”
Seeing Gordon's eyes water, John chuckled. "Yes, I remembered that concho. Had trouble finding it, but fortunately the store on the Sam Houston Tollway found one and put it aside for me," he said as he put a hand on his brother's uninjured shoulder.
Gordon put the box down and wiped away the tears with his good hand. "Got a bit of hand sanitizer in my eyes. Strong stuff," he said, and John scoffed.
"Yeah, sure... you want me to help put it on your … good wrist?" John said, and coughed when Gordon shot the arm out. "Whew... you weren't kidding on the hand sanitizer,” he laughed, waving the fumes away.
"Yeah... apparently it's 'essense of moonshine' I think. It probably kills germs 10 years before they’re born," Gordon smirked.
The bands fit perfectly, and had a simple button and hole fastener so the doctors or even Gordon could take it off with a push if needed.
John watched his brother admire the bracelet, even taking a few photos of the laughs and chuckles his brother made as he showed it off.
Gordon then paused and looked at John. "You made these right?" he inquired, looking at the antiqued looking band.
The astronaut nodded, and Gordon continued, grinning slightly in memory. "How many bands did the University get you to make in exchange for the use of the studio this time?"
"One - and before you ask, the astronomy one,” John said, touching a button on his baldric to ensure EOS didn’t talk about the wallet. She still had a proclivity to ruin surprises - especially if it was one of John’s younger siblings.
Gordon, knowing how much money usually got raised to but one of these bands, looked at the bands and then John. "Worth every cent," he said, smiling warmly as the nurse came in to check Gordon's vitals and bring dinner.
John took this as a note to head out, but before he left, he looked at his brother, who was bragging about the bracelet his older brother made.
And making it very clear how to take it on and off so this one was not cut off.
The astronaut gave a gentle wave to his brother. "I'll be back later," he said, and headed out.
Hearing the chuckles Gordon made again, John's smile broadened. "Yes, it was worth every single minute and cent to hear that laughter," John murmured, but it was priceless to have his brother saved by those other bands.
Now... how he was going to steal the remnants of the old bands to repurpose into a hippie cuff for Gordon was another story

Gwaine, 'Don't touch it, please! It hurts...'
The Knights of Camelot may have been renowned for their strength, but that didn't mean they looked down on each other for showing weakness. It was the opposite, in fact. Most recognized the separate kind of strength it took to admit one needed help, or simply that they were struggling or hurt. Which was why no one teased Gwaine for his pained tears or the way he curled into himself to protect his injured stomach after he took a hit from a club during a melee.
:readmore:
"Don't touch it, please!" He begged when Merlin tried to get him to unfurl and give him access to the injury. "It hurts…" The physician-assistant's heart nearly broke at the whimper from his friend, who usually tried to put up an image of being carefree and always okay.
"I know, Gwaine, and I'm sorry, but I need to see how bad it is." Hopefully it was just bruised and they could just get him some ice from the royal vaults to bring the swelling down. He wished this explanation was enough to reassure the knight that it was for his own good and convince him to let him see, but it seemed that his self-preservation instincts were too strong and the anticipation of more pain if he opened up too frightening.
"I promise I won't touch it." Still Gwaine didn't move and Merlin bit his lip in consternation. After a second of indecision, he instructed Percival to hold him. "And be careful."
The large knight looked unhappy as he very carefully pressed his friend to lie flat with one hand on his sternum and the other on his hip. Gwaine could have fought him if he tried, as the pain had made him desperate instead of sapping his strength, but it must've hurt too much, as he just strained against Percival's hands. Merlin carefully pulled his chainmail and shirt up to reveal skin already turning black and blue with bruising. Both he and Percival winced in sympathy while Gwaine just tried to breathe through the pain. Without warning, Merlin reached out to palpate his stomach and lower ribs. He tried to be gentle, but the injured knight still jerked against Percival's grip and cried out.
"You said you weren't going to touch it!" He whimpered.
"I lied, sorry. I need you to know if your ribs are broken, or if you're bleeding internally." If he was, conventional medicine wouldn't be enough, like with Morgana's head injury. He would have to use magic to heal him, which was why he was hoping the damage was only skin deep, or at least stopped at the layer of his muscles rather than going through to his organs.
"It'll hurt a lot more if you don't let me feel it, and I miss broken ribs and you puncture a lung because we didn't wrap them," he warned, hoping the threat was enough to get him to comply. Normally he admired the knight's stubborn attitude, but right now it was hurting more than it helped. Percival took a firmer grip on him, and Gwaine went as taught as a bowstring but managed to stay still as the physician's assistant gently kneaded his bruised stomach. The abdomen wasn't hard, which was an indication of internal bleeding, and his ribs didn't shift at all under his hands.
"You're lucky. It seems to just be badly bruised," he concluded.
"I don't feel very lucky," Gwaine grumbled.
"No, I don't imagine you do," Merlin said sympathetically, biting back a remark about how if he didn't want to get hurt, he shouldn't voluntarily join a tournament where people hit each other with barely-blunted instruments. Now wasn't the time, and he could save the teasing for Arthur. "Here, Percival and I will help you upstairs to rest."
"Please no," Gwaine said with a groan. "I'm happy staying here in the tent."
Merlin frowned understandingly. He too had felt the kind of pain that made the very concept of moving distasteful to say the least. "I'll bring you some herbs to numb the pain, and we can wait for them to start taking effect before moving you." Gwaine and Percival, who was clearly planning to stay with his injured friend, nodded thankfully. Merlin left to run upstairs and fetch the painkillers, relieved that Gwaine had agreed to take them, and that the Knights of Camelot were honest enough that no one would judge him for doing so.

Knight to Remember
Tumblr media
"Remember when we met?" I murmured, picking at Shawn's scrubs as I lay on his chest. I hadn't been feeling well all day with my monthly cycle so when Shawn had come home he'd sweetly offered to order dinner in and have a movie night, despite having things he probably really needed to do.
"Mmhhh," he responded, hand playing with my hair, massaging my scalp, as he watched the film we'd put on. "I was your knight in shining armour." I could head the playful teasing behind it,but it was true, if he hadn't been there that night,I don't know what would have happened to me.
I could feel the tears welling in my eyes, overflowing and rolling down my cheeks landing on the light blue material attached to Shawn's body.
"Why are you crying baby?" Shawn asked, sitting up. I could see the worry etched into his face as he looked at me.
I shrugged,I didn't know why I was crying. Was it because if my period, was it because I didn't feel well or was it because I would never be able to repay Shawn for what he did for me that night.

When I came to, I didn't know where I was, or how long I had been there. What I did know was that I was freezing, and in more pain than I had ever been before. I lay there for what must have been at least a few more minutes before finally building up the courage to open my eyes. When I did, I found myself crumpled at the back of a dark stone alley, but I couldn't remember where exactly I was, or even how I had come to be there.
More than the pain that was now beginning to radiate from every part of my body- my legs, my chest, my head, even my eyes... how can my eyes be hurting? I wondered... I was concerned about the obvious gaps in my memory. Putting this thought aside I tried to take inventory of how bad my injuries were. I tried to wiggle my toes, and was immediately rewarded with a sharp shot of pain that ran straight up my leg, and into my lower back. At least I could feel my legs I thought, mentally sighing.
It was then that it began to rain, blood running from an unknown source into my mouth. I couldn't help but panic at the thought that there was a very real possibility that I may not be found. But how was I going to get someone, anyone for that matter to notice me?
This thought was interrupted by voices, male voices.
"So how was your shift? Mine was crazy, broken bones, crying kids, one of my residents even got bitten by a kid today," one of the men laughed.
"Mine was pretty chilled actually, but I'm not going to lie, I'll be glad to get these scrubs off and switch off 'doctor mode' for a few hours," the other one replied.
Somewhere between the haze of the pain and cold my brain comprehended the fact that this person had just said 'doctor', something which I knew, even with my limited knowledge of medicine- most of which was thanks to Grey's Anatomy- was something I needed right now.
Before I could think, I found myself screaming out for help, granted it was less of a scream and more of a horse grunt, but it got their attention and the two men were soon kneeling beside me. One tall and brunette, with curls the other shorter, but more built with wavy blonde hair.
"Hi honey, my name is Shawn, the brunette one said, and this is Connor, we're doctors at the hospital, we're going to help you okay, but I need you to tell me where it hurts okay" he asked, gently resting a hand on my arm, pulling a bag off his shoulder which I had not noticed.
As Shawn was rummaging around in his bag, Connor, came over to take my hand. "Hi sweetheart, I'm just going to take your pulse, can you remember anything that happened? Where you are or even your name?" he questioned, before going quiet. "Pulse is fast, but irregular, I'm going to go call for an ambulance, and let the guys know we'll be needing their help. We need to get her warmed up too, she's freezing," he spoke, rubbing my arm, before standing and making a call. Probably calling whoever 'the guys' were.
"I'm just going to test a few things before we get you to hospital and I need you to tell me if anything is painful okay?" The man- Shawn asked with a soft smile. I went to nod, but he reached for my head, stopping the action. "Just keep nice and still for us, we don't know what damage you've done, and we don't want to make anything worse. How about thumbs up for yes and thumbs down for no?" he suggested. I went to nod again, but caught myself, and gave him thumbs up instead.
"Okay, so I'm going to shine this light in your eyes," he explained, holding up what I recognised as a pen light from all the medical dramas I watched. "It might be a little bit uncomfortable, but it's important that we check this stuff out, so we know what we're working with," he finished, smiling sympathetically again, in the half light of the dim alley. "Just follow the light, but remember, don't move your head."
I did so, and he was right, it was uncomfortable, but I put up with it.
"The guys said they'll be here in five minutes, and they've put in a trauma call for an eta of twenty minutes." I couldn't help but jump at the voice that was suddenly right next to me. "Sorry darling, didn't mean to startle you," Connor apologised, reaching for my hand, and giving it a squeeze.
"Awesome," Shawn replied, clearly eager to get me to the hospital. "The sooner we can get her in the E.R.,the better, her pupils are uneven and slightly slower than I'd like."
"While we're waiting we may as well do the rest of her vitals. Have you got the rest of your kit? Normally I leave mine in my locker, but I guess it was somewhat of a happy accident I took it with me," Connor smiled down at me, before grabbing a stethoscope out of a bag which I had not noticed he had either. "Before I check your airways, can you remember your name yet? How old you are?"
I thought for a moment, which was much harder work then it should have been. "Grace..." I started, a little unsure.
"Great, well it's lovely to meet you Grace, can you tell me how old you are?"
"Twenty."
"Perfect," he praised. "Well that's a start." he nodded to himself, before moving to put the metal of his stethoscope to my chest. "Sorry hon," he apologised when I shivered from the cold of it.
They were both quiet for a moment, Connor listening to my chest, and Shawn doing something down by my legs. "Her breathing is shallow and uneven, sounds to me like there could be a collapsed lung, but we won't know for sure until we get x-rays," Connor told Shawn, pulling the metal away from my body.
"Grace," Shawn called, "Can you feel this?" he asked. I could feel him running his finger along the bottom of my foot, though I didn't know where my shoe had gone.
"Um, yeah."
"And this?" he continued up my leg, to a point I felt no pain, and then I was in the most pain I had ever been in.
"Ow! Ow! Stop, stop, please!" I begged, tears flooding down my face, as I tried desperately to pull away.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry, I'm all done." he reassured me, moving back to my head, and wiping away the tears that were beginning to soak my clothing with gloved hands. "Connor, she's got a compound fracture to the fibula on her left side. Grace if you had to rate your pain, one being nothing, and ten being unbearable what would you say?" he asked.
"Ten," I whispered, trying to compose myself, before anyone else saw me crying.
"We'll get Brian to check it out when they get here, I can hear them now." Shawn was right, I could hear a faint siren in the distance which rose to an incessant blaring as an ambulance pulled up.
"Hi guys, what have we got?" I heard a new voice ask. They sounded cheerful, and oddly calm. Basically, everything that I wasn't at that moment.
"This is Grace, she's twenty, we found her here, she has no memory of what happened. She's got a slight concussion, with a suspected partially collapsed lung, compound fracture to the fibula- left leg and possible broken ribs. Possible internal bleeding as well, pain rating ten out of ten." Shawn recalled quickly.
"Hi Grace, my name's Brian," the man spoke appearing above my head. "And this guy here is Dave," he added, pointing to another person with tan skin, several tattoos and dark hair. "We're doctors at the hospital and we work with these two guys that you already know." As Brian explained, Dave got up, only to appear seconds later with a massive bag, and a board.
It was at this point that I was starting to become drowsy, which Shawn quickly noticed, tapping my face lightly to get a response. "Grace, we need you to stay awake okay, I know it's hard, but it's important you try. Dave has the spinal board so what we're going to do is splint this leg and then get you onto the board."
I didn't' respond, tiredness sweeping over me like a thick fog. From then on everything was hazy. I could hear the odd thing, but it was like I was under water.
...
When I woke, it was to bright lights and a painful swaying motion. I tried to shift, to alleviate some of my discomfort, but was meet with a hard, cold surface under me.
"Welcome back, we were starting to get worried there, we'll be about five minutes, and then hopefully we'll be able to get you slightly more comfortable." Shawn spoke from a seat at head of the bed I was laying on.
"Let's run some pain meds," I heard someone request, Dave I thought.
"On it," Brian spoke, from where he sat next to me. "Grace, I'm going to put an I.V. in okay, it'll just be a sharp scratch and then it's over, yeah?" he tried to appease me. I wasn't aware of it immediately, but I must have started to hyperventilate, because I found myself getting dizzy, and suddenly Connor was taking a mask off that one of them must have put on me while I was out.
"Just take deep breaths, Brian's a pro okay?" he smiled, taking my hand in a silent act of comfort.
Connor was right,Brian was a pro and soon enough I found some of the pain drifting away.
...
When we got to the hospital, I was metwith more bright lights, and lots of noise. No one ever tells you how loud a hospital emergency department is, and at that point in time, all I wanted to do was sleep!
After several random people, nurses I think had finished hooking me up to monitors, and had changed me into a gown- an embarrassing process in which I'm sure I managed to flash all four of the doctors, Connor insisted on getting x-rays and an MRI and CT scan, to look at the break in my leg. I hadn't seen it, but twenty minutes after the scans had come back declaring I had no life-threatening brain damage, Shawn came to inform me that it would indeed need surgery, which only caused more tears.
He was quick to assure me that he would be there throughout the whole process, something which I found mildly panic relieving, but it didn't change the fact that I was still having to go into surgery. Why was medicine so much less glamourous and fun in real life than on T.V? I wondered as he started attaching me to electrodes,"For an ECG," he explained when I looked at him questioningly from my stagnant position on the bed.
I did find a small ray of hope in the deluge of bad news, in that I didn't have any spinal damage, which meant I could have the stupid collar taken off, and be removed from the back board.
"Do you want the good news or the bad news first?" Dave asked, coming to stand next to the bed after Shawn and Connor had managed to get me back onto the normal bed, somehow doing so without causing me additional pain.
"Ummm?" I started, before laughing meaning that I dissolved into a fit of coughing, resulting in an intense burning throughout my chest.
"Just take a few breaths, no rush," Brian spoke, picking up my hand, taking my pulse again, as Shawn listened to my breathing again.
"Okay, there's definitely some damage, but it should repair itself in time. The important thing will be rest."
"Grace are you feeling light-headed at all?" Brian asked, a slight frown on his face, as he dropped my hand and turned to look at the monitor.
"No,why?" I asked.
"Because your pulse is fast, and your blood-pressure is high, nothing to worry about, probably just the stress of the situation, but we need to keep an eye on it is all."
"Oh okay,"
"So back to what we were saying before," Connor started. "Good news is, there's no signs of internal bleeding on any of the scans, but your leg on the other hand is a little more complicated, you'll probably need plates, and physio for sure."
"How long will it take to heal?" I asked, feeling dread bubbling up to the surface of my thinking.
"It really depends, on a couple of things. How bad it is, what your pain levels are like with the physio, and so on. But roughly, at least six months." He broke to me slowly, looking at me with sympathy in his eyes.
After that it was all a bit of a blur, the stress of the event finally starting to catch up with me. I woke up some time after the surgery, in a cast and traction, something which I was not happy with... especially when I realised that it meant that I would be relying on bed pans and sponge baths for the foreseeable future.
The coming days were easier, except for a particularly bad reaction to a pain killer Shawn gave me on the second night, which caused nasty bed spins, with vomiting thrown in. Luckily for me, he was a pro at dealing with things like this, and it was nothing out of the ordinary for a normal shift as an Intensive Care physician he reassured me, as my face burned in embarrassment when the nurse had to change my gown, due to sick getting on it. It was the absolute last thing I would have wanted to happen in front of someone like Shawn. When I'd first come in,I hadn't realised just how good looking he was, but oh my god, was he gorgeous, tall and muscular with curls that seemed to fall perfectly- a few resting on his forehead despite him constantly pushing them back. He was sweet too, always going out of his way to make sure I was okay, that I was as comfortable as I could be.
---
They pieced together when I was in surgery, that I had definitely been involved in a hit and run, something which they had concluded in my initial assessment unbeknownst to me when they found a series of tyre marks across my abdomen. They were sure to tell me just how lucky I was to get away with the injuries I did. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry at this, and so ended up doing some of both.
Each day was easier than the last, and my mood was raised when my parents arrived, from arrived in Toronto all the way from Sydney, my home, which I had remembered after the concussion had subsided.
Eventually I could start rehabilitation, having to relearn how to use my leg, something which wasn't always easy, but they guys were always there to support me, and would supple a constant stream on bad jokes to keep my mind off the pain.
When it came to leaving day, as excited as I was I was also sad, I had formed bonds with these guys, especially Shawn, and they had literally given me my life back, something which I would also be grateful for. Little did I know that just over a year later I'd be laying on Shawn's chest as comfortable as could be, having been dating for a bit over nine months.
...
Present day
"Why are you crying Gracie?" he asked again, wiping away a tear with the pad of his thumb.
"I'm just so tired," I sniffled, hugging him more, craving the comfort and warmth he provided.
"How about a bath and an early night?" he suggested.
"Will you join?" I pleaded with my best puppy dog eyes.
He sighed, he hated baths and I knew it, but I needed him with me tonight, I was feeling emotional and vulnerable and he was the only one that could make it better.
"Only because it's you Princess," he smiled, shaking his head, before bending down and attaching his lips to mine in a long tender kiss.
"Love you," I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me again, creating the cacoon of warmth that I loved so much.
"Love you more."

Sooo, my mom gave me a bandage wrap to use as a chest binder since she doesn't want to buy me one cause "it'll be a waste of money if you change your mind about your gender" (wtf mom? Theoretically, even if I do end up changing my gender identity, I plan on cosplaying boys), but they don't work.. what should I do...? I know you aren't an expert on this, but I just need advice...
Tumblr media
“Nuh uh! Never use bandages for chest bindin’! There’s a reason that binders’re made outta materials that stretch! Bandages won’t! Bandages get tighter as you move! Bandages are meant to stop bleedin’ n’ hold things in place and are not a replacement for a binder! You risk crackin’ and breakin’ ribs that way because that ain’t what they’re meant for! It’s hard on your lungs! It’ll hurt! It’ll at the least be uncomfortable n’ is so likely to cause serious damage that it’ll never be worth it to try to take the cheap way out! While we’re on the subject, don’t use duct tape either! Do your research, send the tons o’ links available on what you’re riskin’ by tryna bind that way to your mom if she’s the one suggestin’ y’all do it that way.
In reality, lot o’ these boxes o’ ace bandages I’m seein’ cost $20 or so on Amazon n’ y’all can still get a good binder for $30-$40 without hurtin’ yourself. That really ain’t so much money considerin’ that ya won’t get any medical bills out of it, that bandages ain’t meant to be reused in the first place and can’t even be washed, whereas a binder is a garment meant to last for a while n’ can be taken care of like any other article o’ clothing.”
Tumblr media
“If she really won’t change her mind n’ go for somethin’ that ya can actually use, wearin’ sports bras n’ layerin’ ‘em can flatten things down too. Layerin’ clothes so your chest ain’t as prominent might also be an option, ‘long with wearin’ baggier clothes that’ll hide it. If you’ve got talent when it comes to sewin’ n’ whatnot, I know there’s tutorials floatin’ ‘round on how to make ‘em yourself, or there’s shapers for more theatrical kinds o’ things too.
gc2b is a trans operated business I’ve only ever heard good things about that sells all different binders for people of all shapes n’ sizes n’ caters directly to trans people. All o’ the binders they make are safe to use (so long as you don’t wear them for longer than you’re meant to, as all bindin’ ain’t meant to be 24/7), and you should really see if ya can invest in one! Let your mom know that even if ya do wind up changin’ your gender identity (cause sometimes that does happen, but it don’t mean you’re any less valid in feelin’ what you’re feelin’ right now,) that you’ll be damagin’ yourself doin’ it the way she’s tellin’ y’all to.”

Humans are Space Orcs
Part 5
Kneeling on the floor of the shuttle beside Kovac's body Wolf ripped open the medical kit and pulled out the TPAK needles and looked at the laminate instructions. He couldn't hear Panther over the screaming in his own head. Grabbing the first of the needles he unscrewed the cap and pressed his fingers into Kovac's chest, counting ribs, pointing his finger at the appropriate site he put the needle against the skin and pushed, it punctured the skin and drove into the muscle, once it was secure he drew the needle out and made it safe, nothing happened he checked the instructions again. Tissue embolus, snatching up the syringe he drew air into it and connected it to the needle. He depressed the plunger and when he detached the syringe he was rewarded with a prolonged hiss of air. He repeated it on the other side of the ribcage.
Knickers who had been trying to ventilate Kovac looked up with relief as Kovac drew a shallow breath. He drew two shuddering breaths and his breathing again started getting shallower.
Becca stared at the shuttle as it landed, behind her susserations passed through the unit as the whisper repeated themselves. "Kovac is dead?" "Kovac is dead!" Kovac can't be dead" "Kovac isn't dead!" "Kovac is dead" "Kovac..." "The Major..." her hands shook and she fought the urge to vomit. Her mouth was dry, her eyes burned, she had a metallic taste in her mouth and the tip of her nose seemed to tingle.
The doors to the shuttle opened, Wolf stepped out, a bound and gagged Flet chained to him and Panther. Gray, Ocampo Hemming and Richards stepped out. Then came a stretcher, beside it was Petra pale and tired looking. On the other side was Knickers who was staring at the Major's face till she stepped aside to let Dana and Staff King assess him. Then she looked up till she found Becca's face in the crowd.
"Massive left sided pneumothorax with resultant lower right atelectasis, hypovolaemic, query 2 minute episode of apnoea, sats 97 on 15 litres" Petra rattled off as Frank ran alongside the trolley.
Becca could still hear Petra talking as the doors swung shut on the med-bay. Wolf appeared at her side and gently steered her away from the crowd of soldiers into the side room. She managed two more strides before her knees gave way. Wolf guided her into a chair as she opened her mouth to scream and no sound came out. Trembling violently she felt Wolf's arms wrap tightly around her.
How long she they stayed like that Becca didn't know, but eventually she looked up to see Sergeant Panther, Captains Dorman, and Gillespie sitting in the room, standing leaning against the wall were Sergeants Fluke and Webb. Becca realised she was squeezing Wolf's arm with both hands, her nails had dug deep enough to draw blood from his wrist. Her fingers ached as she unclenched them. Wordlessly Panther poured her a glass of rum and passed it across, Becca downed it in one.
The door opened and a sombre looking Dana walked in, she looked at Wolf and then Dorman before crossing to stand infront of Becca.
"He's stable, we've repaired his lung but during the surgery...His heart stopped, he was down for nearly a minute. We'll have to run some tests when, if he wakes up."
Becca nodded numbly and tried to speak, she cleared her throat and tried again. "Thank you Dana, where's Frank?"
"Draining his last bottle of Courvoisier XO, I don't think he liked the part where the Major died." Dana's tone sounded angry.
"The problem with being the sort of man that earns love and loyalty like Kovac is people get upset when you die on them." Dorman said calmly, "I keep telling him he should try being unlikable like me."
"Does that mean I'm in command as senior officer?" Asked Gillespie, he winked at Becca and then Panther, "I think I'll reinstate prima nocta."
"Alright but Panther would break you little man," Becca said with a half-smile.
The officers began to talk and laugh, Dorman sent out the sergeants to talk to the men.
"She blames herself," Wolf said looking after Panther, "he was shielding her when he took the bolt."
Two days later Staff Sergeant King was glaring at the Major as he blew into a tube, "until I discharge you I am your commanding officer, I am emperor, king, high priestess and the Lord thy God, you can charm me all you want you mangy Scotch git, you are recuperating properly and doing your exercises."
"I'd tell you to get your oral fixation examined Frank but if blowing on this tube ten times a day will make you happy I'll do it. I will not be waiting over a month to heal naturally, now give me the AHMs so I can get on with my plan or I'll convince Angie to sneak me some, you know she'll do it too, and she'll take Petra down with her."
"If you have any kidney function left when this is all over I'll be amazed. Once this is resolved, I want you to come in for physio and a full medical check up."
"Once this is done I'll even let you check my prostate," Kovac grinned again.
The following morning Kovac laid in his bed while his officers sat around the room, Kovac asked about the prisoner.
"She seems willing to listen to us, I think she believes we can be manipulated." Dorman answered.
"I get the impression she is a little startled by the effectiveness of our raid and her capture. Our success has her worried."
"A huge success if you discount the Major's little problems," said Becca with a sneer.
"Everyone makes a fuss, i got injured. Hardly a fault of the mission, overall it was a complete success." Kovac replied.
"A complete success!? You fucking died!"
"Everybody makes a fuss," Kovac responded drawing a laugh from the others, Becca scowled.
Humans have a strange tendency to react to situations at a seemingly disproportionate level, small splits to their skin or a small shock can leave them "literally dying" an example of hyperbole. Kovac needing to be resuscitated on the operating table meant he said the injuries he had sustained, weren't ones he would reccomend.
The only thing bigger than a human's flair for the dramatic is a human's ability to down play something.
Kovac entered the room where the hostage was held, she eyed him as he crossed the room and as he sat in a chair she spoke.
"Major Radovan Kovac, formerly of the United Nations Galactic Defence Force then of the Galactic Council Defence Force and now leader of the human mercenary unit known as the Dark Horses, born Glasgow, Scotland in the year..."
"Impressive, you're Lorastayil claimant to the position of heir to the throne of the Flet Imperium, current prisoner to Major Kovac and judging by the speed of your heart, terrified of me no matter how calm you pretend to be," Kovac interrupted.
"My heart rate?" Lorastayil asked.
"The clip on your nose is taking measurements for us," Kovac raised a hand to silence the Flet. "Listen Kitty, we had a plan, it was simple, we use you to get to the rest of the royals and then we take all four of you out, we slip away into the darkness and watch as the rest of the royals fall apart trying to claim the top spot on the rubble, it would work. Believe me, I know how to topple governments I've done it before and Wolf, he's done it even more than me.
You know Wolf, he's the one that makes your heart skip a beat every time he glares at you, he has that effect on people."
Lorastayil stayed silent but her eyes never left Kovac's face, "however," Kovac continued, "while I'm sure pulling our plan off correctly would have been an end to this I'm not sure we would have achieved it without some losses and I've already lost one soldier over this, I'm not prepared to have another die to keep me alive, ironically it took dying to formalize my thoughts on this."
"The Flet Imperium," began the Flet.
"Oh do be quiet, the "Imperium" is barely two systems across and the only reason you get to keep it is because nobody wants it, everytime you've gotten expansionist the GCDF has slapped you down with one hand. You're a rogue state and the royal family makes you an easy mark to the sort of units that Wolf and I used to run, if I didn't care about collateral damage I'd break your little civilisation to teach you a lesson."
The Flet glared at Kovac and the Major held her gaze, "I have a plan however, one that keeps you alive, keeps my soldiers alive and puts an end to this."
Struggling to contain her anger Lorastayil stayed quiet for a few seconds before asking, "and what is this clever plan?"
"You take me back to Venita all the way to your capitol Genetry, we walk into the Royal Palace and you give me over to the Queen as your prisoner, you earn your place as heir apparent and the royal family win public support, I'm executed and my men are left alone. Now my men won't be happy about this, but because I'll do this voluntarily it'll hopefully take the edge off enough that they don't seek revenge."
"You'd die willingly?" Lorastayil asked her tone doubtful.
"No, not willingly but I'll accept it, better me than one of my men, that's the trick of being in command, my duty is to them, my leadership is the service I give them." He gave a sigh, "do you accept?"
"I have a choice?"
"Of course, I could always torture you till you agree to my first plan and we break your civilisation, not much of a choice but a choice none the less."
Kovac couldn't have successfully moved Lorastayil onto a shuttle secretly without assistance from Wolf, it appeared that Wolf was fully informed of the plan because as Kovac boarded the Shuttle I witnessed the two pause, shake hands solemnly and then part with a nod. An interaction I had never seen between the two of them before.
Unlike the human home planet, the Flet planet of Venita had developed as almost entirely a rainforest, since industrialisation much of the planet's growth had been cut back but it still retained it's verdant appearance. Even the capitol city of Gentry had a lot of green spaces. And in the centre, shining in the sunlight was the Royal palace, it's direct translation to human would be "glass" although the building was built from quartz.
Kovac walked with his head held high, for all appearances enjoying the view of the rain wet building gleaming in the sunlight. Kovac looked out of place in the light, bright building, wearing dark military fatigues his booted feet rang loud as he walked down the hallway. Around him walked his guards, soft footed and silent, despite their height and mass being greater than the human's they seemed diminished by him, or perhaps that was only my perception.
They paused before the great door to the hall, Lorastayil suddenly intense as she stared at Kovac.
"Do you want to die human? You seem at great ease."
"No, no I don't, I wish this could have worked out another way." He looked around, "it's beautiful here," he remarked absently, "I don't want to die but none of us choose how we die, even those poor souls who take their own life do so as a symptom of a disease often as not, the only thing you get a choice over is how you face your death. I'll stand on my own two feet and look it in the eye thank you." He gestured to the door, "shall we?"
The Flet Imperium is a culture devoid of much of the trappings of power that other civilisations cultivate. Pomp and ceremony; grandiose displays of power and privilege are not seen in the Flet royal court. In brief order Lorastayil was welcomed back, Kovac introduced and sentenced to death.
Kovac grinned up at the Queen and with a sudden movement had darted past the two large Kitty's that were nominally his guards.
"You know, I have read something of your culture and your laws, something the humans have known for Millenia 'know your enemy' a concept not respected by your finer military minds." Kovac stopped several feet from the throne, his guards closed in but hesitated to restrain him.
"For example, I know that Flet instinct will always be to trust in your claws not your hand held weapons, which puts the two guarding me at a disadvantage, while they are still suppressing the urge to resort to claws, I can instinctively fight with anything, in my reach...ask me about a pineapple sometime." As if to illustrate this point Kovac moved.
He sprang to his left into the nearest guard knocking it off balance, he butted his forehead into the side of its jaw with enough force to cause rotation of the head, the Flet spilled it's weapon and stumbled back. Kovac snatched up the dropped power lance but knowing he lacked the appropriate number of limbs to fire the weapon didn't pause in his movement but instead threw it hard as he could at the second guard who was still fumbling with its own power lance. The Kitty stumbled back and Kovac followed up with a flying knee to it's sternum knocking it flat.
As suddenly as he had moved he was still again, Kovac spread his arms wide as more guards converged on him.
"You see when I say I know you, I know you, so when I say I demand trial by combat, I know you are obliged to meet my demand and decide my fate inside the 'ring' as it were."
The Queen watched Kovac and gave a silent yawn, the Flet equivalent of a smile. "You may think you know us Major, however the demand for trial by combat is only something I'm obliged to honour if you are a subject, and that little display was designed to provoke me, provoke my anger but not all Flet are slaves to their rage." She raised two arms and then with another silent yawn gestured at her guards, "kill him."
Kovac backed up quickly out of the semi-circle of approaching guards, Lorastayil was watching him as more guards entered. Kovac produced a small curved blade, seemingly from nowhere and looked at the Flet heir.
"You know I rather liked the idea of meeting death while standing, but what I think I've always known is I'm going to go out kicking and screaming and fighting all the way." He looked around at the guards who were raising their power lance and I saw his weight shift.
Shots rang out, not the muted pop of a power lance but the sharp crack of human rifles. Several of the Flet guards dropped to the ground, Kovac was already moving towards the nearest Flet when Captain Wolf led the assault on the rear of the guard unit. From my vantage point of multiple awarenesses I saw Captain Becca kneeling just inside the entrance to the hallway and taking aim at the Flet queen. Sergeant Panther flanked by Barbie and Buckets closed in on one of the heirs, rifle shots ringing out everywhere.
Kovac my have been wrong about the precise laws and customs of the Flet but he wasn't wrong about their instincts, caught by surprise many of the Kitty guards dropped their power lances, instinctively wanting to use their own claws when provoked. Those that held onto their weapons were still slow in responding with fire themselves.
Kovac had already attacked the two nearest Flet his karambit knife slashing open throats and major blood vessels as he burst through the circle.
Captain Dorman led his troop in through the side entrance and more shots echoed through the hall. Kovac grabbed Lorastayil and forced her against a wall, the larger being letting the smaller human manhandle her. Their frantic conversation lost to the gun battle.
Moments later the hall fell silent, as the last Flet fell, two humans were down but both were moving, Petra and Angie moved between them and Sergeant Webb organised a stretcher team. Captain Becca began shouting orders and Sergeant Panther led the soldiers of 2 Troop out of the great hall.
Wolf reached Kovac and looked down at the dead Lorastayil, "She declined my offer of peace," Kovac said with regret in his voice. Looking up at his captain Kovac gestured around, "I thought you understood my reasons for not doing something like this?"
Wolf pulled Kovac across the hall his men closing in around them, "Oh I did, but the idea that a man was willing to lay down his life for the protection of his soldiers, well I have this feeling that sort of man is the sort I'd like to keep alive."
In the distance explosions boomed out as Captain Gillespie's mortar unit laid down sporadic fire across the military barracks.
"Your men were in agreement when I told them what you planned, apart from Staff King, he says he's saved you enough recently and stayed behind."
They hurried onto the extraction ship and as Captain Dorman counted his men back on Kovac looked around at his soldiers, his expression unreadable.
Captain Becca approached him and the ship went silent as she reached him and then punched him in the face.
"You bastard! She screamed, I nearly lost you and the first thing you did in response was try and get yourself killed!?" She drew back her fist again but Wolf and Panther restrained her, men laughed and Kovac pinching his bleeding nose approached his officers.
The time for awkward thank yous was later, they were still in Flet space now.
"The Frell sent us pass codes they...happened to have," Dorman said to Kovac's unasked question. "Once we were inside their airspace they have almost no security."
"Major have we started another war? What will happen next?" Gillespie asked, loud enough for the soldiers to listen in.
"Maybe, but I don't think so, I think the political powers will enjoy the loss of a faction from their halls of power and I think that whoever finally claims the empty royal throne, they'll be slightly grateful to us for getting them there and if not...they'll think long and hard before they decide to fuck with the Dark Horses again."
The End.
