selections from my week in media [24-30 december 2023]
[listening]
O (Circle) / Onew - This week, Billboard named it the number one kpop album of 2023. Well deserved. It was my album of the year.
[watching]
The Good Bad Mother - I watched the first episode back in June and knew immediately what kind of show it was going to be to watch so I kept putting it off (not for bad reasons; I knew I would love it). But I really wasn't prepared. Deeply emotional, hard to watch sometimes, but with moments of laugh out loud hilarity, it was an amazing show. I didn't think I'd be able to get it done before the end of the year, but I managed. Five stars, easily.
Numbers - I finally managed to finish it. The show did a pretty good job making finance interesting, but not quite good enough. It took me forever to get through and the character work is the only thing that saved it. And then that ending. It's realistic, so not completely satisfying.
Pit Babe - Did the car racing show really take seven episodes to give us the first instance of car sex? Wild. Tony is revealed to be much more evil than previously shown. Yikes. But it's a great conflict and I'm here for Charlie et al bringing his operation down. Speaking of Charlie: He really cracked a Mama & Papa joke moments after admitting to stealing Babe's Alpha powers and revealing he'd have to die to return them. Buddy. Pal. Timing!
