I MISS SANJIII i wish they could've at least made him more involved in the dressrosa arc so that when he goes missing it feels like the sudden absence that it is, rather than just 'oh ok so hes gonna be gone for even longer'

Law is so upset over no Shadow Clones. Usopp is sad that Ryzo can't summon a frog and ride it. I can't with this.

I’m in the middle of writting part Zou for The development of Law’s relationship with Zoro, this time using anime as additional source and really, the episode 769 is so fun. The interaction between pirate nerds alliance and ninja Raizo is hilarious in itself but also it is so nice to see Law and Zoro keeping close to each other all the time; the episode gives a lot frames focused on characters reactions & emotions and Zoro & Law usually are grouped together in such moments. Not to mention it is just really nice to see these two stoic men to be as nerdy as the rest of (male) pirates, even if they are less expressive about it. And the shared feel of disappointment (when at first Raizo refused to do any ninja thing) and then the happy smiles.
I guess it is really refreshing to see Law not being stressed for once, hanging out with fellow introvert when there is so many noisy extroverted people around.

I love how Zoro and Law are so serious but inside you know they are acting like Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp are with the ninja.

I just would like to discuss how excited law is to hear about there being a real ninja on zou and how he majestically disappears during the banquet scene but as soon as they get ready to go see the ninja he is majestically back without a word and the look of disappointment on his face when they see raizo is just beautiful I can’t I love this man the cute dork I just love him so much

800 questions part 16
***Turns out it’s more like 792 questions since there’s 8 blanks, but whatever.***
751) What compulsions do you have? I don’t have anything that are “repetitive behaviors or mental acts that a person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession. The behaviors are aimed at preventing or reducing distress or a feared situation.” This can be very debilitating for some people, so it’s not a word to use lightly.
752) What makes you angry? I don’t get angry easily, it takes something serious to do that.
753) If you could see any band, which would you like to see? I’m sad I never got to see Linkin Park with Chester.
754) Who would you say are more attractive, English or Europeans? Uh, aren’t English and Europeans the same? Correct me if I’m wrong. I think you may have meant Americans or Europeans, but regardless of what you meant to say I don’t think one nationality is more attractive than another. I can find someone attractive of any nationality, race, etc.
755) What would you say is your favourite album of all time? Hybrid Theory will always be one of my favorites.
756) Do you dislike hairy people? No, I don’t dislike people just because they have a lot of hair. Jeez.
757) Are you much of an adventurer? No.
758) Do you like your own name? Sure.
759) Would you ever sign a Prenuptial agreement? I don’t even plan on getting married.
760) How long has your longest ever phone call been? I used to talk on the phone for hours in middle school and some of freshman and sophomore year. Ha, and to think I haaaate talking on the phone now and have for such a long time that I forget there was a time before when I actually liked to.
761) Have you ever stolen anything? When I was a kid I thought the candy in the big candy bins at the grocery store were free to take. Whoops.
762) Could you ever have an affair with a married person? No. I do not want to be with someone who is in a relationship at all. I’ve heard people say, “it’s not like they’re married” as though it makes it okay and no.
763) Could you ever split up a couple for one reason or another? I wouldn’t want to split up a couple.
764) What is your family Christmas like? Christmas Eve we have a nice dinner and watch Christmas movies together and then early Christmas morning we open our presents and stockings.
765) Do you prefer sporty or academic members of the opposite sex? Who I like and would want to pursue something with would go further than stuff like that. I want to get to know them for who they are as a person.
766) How much would it cost to buy your love? Can’t buy me love. Yes, cue The Beatles song.
767) Who was your least favourite teacher at school and why? I had two really awful math professors in community college. They were incredibly rude and didn’t teach well at all.
768) If you met a Genie who offered you three wishes, what would you wish for? (more wishes does not count) End to the pandemic, my health was better, and my family had their debts paid off.
769) What’s your current Mobile phone model and do you like it? I have an iPhone XR. I was fine with it until it started acting up. The new one just came out that’s why, but I can’t afford to upgrade right now.
770) The very last half of the survey and they skipped out on 8 questions. Lameee. It’s more like the 792 question survey. 771) 772) 773) 774) 775) 776) 777)
778) Have you already thought about your babies names? I don’t want to have children.
779) Have you ever been fishing? Only once. I didn’t like it <<< Same, actually.
780) Have you ever had your national flag painted on your face? I don’t think so.
781) Do you have any strange body things? What would be a “strange body thing”?  My body is weird, though, both externally and internally.
782) What was the last social faux pas you made? I don’t recall. So, I looked up some common social faux pas cause I couldn’t think of one at the top of my head and one that I do is I tend to try to finish people’s sentences. They’ll tell me a story and I’ll sometimes say what I think they’re going to say. I know it’s annoying so I try not to, but I think my brain is always trying to stay ahead or go too fast, hence why I myself jumble over my words and leave out words when I write/type. It’s especially annoying when I’m wrong with my guess lol they’re like, “well, if you would just let me finish the story...” Whoops. :X
783) What makes you nostalgic? I’m a very nostalgic person so sometimes I’m just feeling extra nostalgic and anything can do it, but ya know typically stuff like movies, TV shows, music, photos, old videos, smells. Anything that just makes me think of old memories. Last night while I was trying to fall asleep I put on an episode of Winnie the Pooh on Disney+ and awwww it just brought me back to childhood right away. I love Winnie the Pooh, he’s so adorable. <3 Another recent example is I watched a few episodes of Goosebumps on Netflix. 784) What’s the scariest thing you've ever done? Taking a gondola ride over 9,000 feet was pretty terrifying. The views were spectacular, though.
785) What fairy tale character would you most associate with? Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She was lost and confused and honestly same.
786) How much do you tend to swear in public? I tend to just swear to myself under my breath most of the time.
787) What are your strengths? Uhhhh.
788) What are your weaknesses? I’m pessimistic, negative, self-deprecating, stubborn, a worrier, unmotivated...
789) What brand are your trainers? Most of my shoes are Adidas.
790) If you ruled your own country, who would you get to write your national anthem? I don’t want to rule my own country.
791) Who is the most intelligent person you know? My brother.
791) What’s the craziest thing you've ever done for someone? Hmm.
792) How did you get your name? My dad had recently heard the name on a TV show he watched and liked how it sounded, so he suggested it to my mom. When I was born my mom said she looked at me and said, “yep, she’s a Stephanie *insert middle name here*.  My first and middle name just came together in that moment.
793) What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you? I’m always told not to worry about stuff before I even know anything about what I’m worrying about or the outcome of it, how worrying doesn’t help anything, but I’m the worst about that. My mind wants to start worrying and freaking out right away and assuming the worst. :/
794) If you had to describe yourself as a flavour, what would it be? Salty and bitter? lol. The saltiness is from all my tears, ha.
795) If you had to describe yourself as a car, what would it be? Old and broken down.
796) If you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be? A sloth.
797) Do you think laughing at someone else’s misfortune is wrong? Uh, yes?? That’s a real shitty thing to do. Hope you don’t find yourself in that same situation one day.
798) If a loved one was to serenade you, what song would you most like them to sing? I don’t know.
799) Would you ever let your parents pick out a partner for you? No. That’s definitely something I want to choose myself.
800) Have you ever tried spam? (the meat product) Ew, yes. It’s gross.

Day 769- Easter Eggs
The last couple of years I’ve heard and read so much about “synchronicities” that I look for them everywhere. And, like anything, the more you look, the more you find. Some say that the more you acknowledge the synchronicities, the more the universe will give you so that it’s not just a matter of perception, you actually get more.
Gary Schwartz is so fascinated by the phenomenon of synchronicity that he has written a book about it. I’m starting to view synchronicity as a glitch in the Matrix. The glitches in the Matrix were unintended.  So, not a glitch really. Maybe an easter egg (an unexpected or undocumented feature in a piece of computer software or on a DVD, included as a joke or a bonus).  As we go along in the game, every once in a while the Creator throws us an easter egg.  For those of paying attention, they can be little reminders this is all just a simulation.
A couple of days ago I’m out taking my morning walk and at the moment I’m passing my neighbor’s house, her daughter comes out to her car in the driveway to retrieve something.  I’ve known this little girl since she was just a couple of months old and she has just turned 21.  At the exact moment I spot her, I turn and on the sidewalk in front of me is a squirrel.  I take note.  Squirrel is the nickname her mother calls her.  Hmmm....  that’s interesting. The engineering brain in me starts working. I wonder what the odds are of passing her house just as she’s coming out.  Then multiple that by the odds a squirrel will be there at the same moment. We have a few squirrels in the neighborhood, but not a lot.  Seeing squirrel is no big deal. Seeing Regan is no big deal. But, seeing Regan and the squirrel at the same time.  What are the odds?   I’m listening to a playlist I put together for a friend’s wedding. I don’t remember what songs are on it exactly.  I just created it last week and I haven’t played it through yet.  The song that comes on while I’m in this moment is one I don’t really care for. I skip it. The next song isn’t one I care for.  I skip it.  The next song is Brick House by The Commodores.  Wow.  Brick House is this girl’s mother’s favorite song. Many years ago when we used to hang out with her, every where we went she would freak out if Brick House came on. If we went to hear a cover band, she requested Brick House.  It’s crazy that I would forward to Brick House in that moment when I was noticing the other synchronicity.  Add those odds into the equation.
Several days ago I’m listening to a podcast and I discover a new podcaster. I subscribe to her podcast and go through the back episodes saving the ones I want to listen to.  Independently, before that, I decide to read Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations with God Book 3.  The book is almost 20 years old at this point, but I just decided to read it.  These are two totally unrelated things.  The third unrelated thing is a couple of days ago I was discussing a fundamentalist pastor with a friend who has been in correspondence with the guy. The pastor is of the opinion that man cannot destroy the Earth because, wait for it, the Bible says so.  The pastor also believes that God will destroy the Earth, by fire.  As my friend is posting the pastor’s views, I tell him there was a  time when I thought it my duty (as a fundamentalist) to go out and convert the world to my views.  Now, I will not make the mistake of thinking it’s my job to convert the fundamentalists to my view. I say to him “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”
Here is where these three seemingly independent things comes together.  Yesterday, as I’m choosing a podcast, I see that the podcaster has interviewed Neale Donald Walsch about a year and a half ago.  That’s coincidence number one.  I’m reading his book.  I listen to the interview. Later, as I’m reading the book I come across the quote (spoken from God to the author) “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” This is about two days after I say this to my friend on Facebook.  So, I decide to read a book that is nearly 20 years old, out of the blue.  I discover this podcast and this interview, out of the blue. And, I use a quote (not exactly an uncommon one I know) and then read the quote in the book a couple of days after I use it. Some synchronicities, I think, are meant to guide us. They provide direction.  If we look for them and heed them, they can make the road a little less bumpy.  Some are signs from our loved ones that they are still here with us. And some, I believe, are easter eggs.  They’re bonus features that we can take note of and say “Hey, I see you (Spirit).  Thanks for the reminder.”

The Chicago (Quarantine) TV & Takeout Guide added to Google Docs
The Chicago (Quarantine) TV & Takeout Guide
If you’re like us, your nights currently revolve around three main questions: what to eat, what to watch, and what time to change into evening leisurewear. Because let’s face it, there isn’t much else to do and your ex still hasn’t changed their Hulu password. So we’re here to make sure you’re doing dinner and TV right. Below, you’ll find our picks for great delivery and a new or classic show to pair with it.
All restaurants featured on The Infatuation are selected by our editorial team. The Chicago (Quarantine) TV & Takeout Guide is presented by Uber Eats. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, supporting our local restaurant community has never been more important. Uber Eats customers can now give directly to the restaurants they love at checkout. 100% will go to the restaurant. Order now to support. See app for details.
Featured In The Ultimate Chicago Delivery & Takeout Guide See all our guides the spots  Christina Slaton The Loyalist $ $ $ $ American ,  Burgers  in  West Loop $$$$ 175 N Ada St 7.8 /10
TV Pairing: The Americans (Hulu)
“I’ll be the first to admit that I enjoy some dark, dystopian stuff. The Handmaids Tale? Homeland? Yes, please. That said, these days I’m not always in the mood for shows that hit too close to home. But The Americans takes place during the Cold War, and there’s something almost innocent about an era where spycraft meant microfiche, tape recorders, and wigs in the trunk of the car. And when I’m watching married Russian spies and their children navigate 1980s America, I want to eat something that feels distinctly American: a cheeseburger with fries. And not only does The Loyalist have an incredibly delicious burger, but the name just feels oh-so-right.” -AK
Philly's Best $$$$ 769 W Jackson Blvd
TV Pairing: Battlestar Galactica (Netflix)
“I named my dog Cylon. I had my wedding party walk to the drums from the theme song. Everyone is tired of me talking about this f*cking show. So, I get it - enough is enough. But I feel like I have a responsibility to let everyone know how excellent this series about self-willed robots is, especially with Westworld circling the drain. After all, someone did the same for me - back in the dark ages when Netflix DVDs had to be sent to your house. I would rush home to check the mail and order a cheesesteak from Philly’s Best along the way. This show and that sandwich are forever linked in my mind. Plus, handheld food means never having to take your eyes off the killer robots on the screen.” -AK
 Christina Slaton Happy Camper $ $ $ $ American ,  Bar Food ,  Pizza  in  Old Town $$$$ 1209 N Wells St 7.4 /10
TV Pairing: Parks & Recreation(Netflix)
“In Season 3 of Parks & Recreation, there’s an episode entitled “The Fight” that I’ve watched about a hundred times, usually when I’m very hungover. It’s 25 minutes of perfection built around a fictional liquor called “Snake Juice,” and shows every main character plastered from said spirit along with the aftermath of it all the next day. What does this have to do with Happy Camper? Just the fact that their breakfast pizza is what we - you, myself, Ron in a tiny hat, Janet Snakehole, and Burt Macklin - can all agree does the body well after a Friday or Saturday night featuring too much Snake Juice. Or, any day really. What is time anymore?” -MB

TV Pairing: The Killing (Netflix)
“This show got a lot of sh*t - mainly because of the red herrings, cliffhangers, and relentless rain. Now we live in a world of streaming, where red herrings and cliffhangers are meaningless. Meaning these days we can enjoy The Killing for what it’s really about: the relationship between broken cops Sara Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (a fantastically trashy Joel Kinnaman). And nothing goes with the chill of this absurdly moody show better than the rich curries from The Spice Room. No, it won’t change who killed Rosie Lawsen, but honestly, that’s never been the point.” -AK
Carmela's Taqueria $$$$ 1206 W Lawrence Ave
TV Pairing: McMilliions (HBO)
“The first time I watched Supersize Me, I couldn’t help but crave a large order of fries from McDonald’s. Then, when I watched McMillions, an HBO miniseries that shows how McDonald’s was scammed out of more than $20 million through their Monopoly game, it immediately gave me a hankering to somehow screw over McDonald’s myself. Because when I was a kid, I was obsessed with collecting all the pieces and winning a bunch of money - but in reality, I had no shot to ever win. I don’t know what I would have done with my earnings back then, but if I pulled off this big of a heist today, I know exactly what I would do - fund a second location for Carmela’s, my favorite taco place in Chicago, to open in New York (where I live now). I miss their incredible al pastor tacos and tortas so much that I have dreamed for years of how to acquire enough money to make this possible - and watching McMillions has given me a new fantasy to think about.” -CM
 Sandy Noto The Momo World $ $ $ $ Nepali  in  University Village $$$$ 727 W Maxwell St 8.6 /10
TV Pairing: Orphan Black (Hulu)
“If you don’t know, Orphan Black is about a bunch of clones finding out that they’re clones and figuring out why. And the actress (Tatiana Maslany) who plays all these clones somehow manages to make them all feel like completely different people. When I look at a sea of fantastic dumplings from The Momo World on my coffee table, I feel like I’m looking at a bunch of Sarahs, Alisons, Cosimas, Rachels, and Helenas. They’re all momos, and yet different and unique in their own way. And just like with the show, I love them all and it’s impossible to pick a favorite. Don’t make me.” -AK
 Sandy Noto Monteverde $ $ $ $ Italian  in  West Loop $$$$ 1020 W Madison St 9.0 /10
TV Pairing: Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Netflix)
“You know how some people put on Friends or The Office just to relax? Well, for me that show is Buffy. Sure, at first the ’90s outfits, chunky highlights, and ridiculous monsters are a little distracting. But after the episode “The Puppet Show,” you’ll forget all about it. All seven seasons create a perfect story arc - one that makes you laugh, cry, and contemplate your spiritual existence. A meal at Monteverde is like that too. This Italian restaurant never misses a beat, and as far as a spiritual experience, eating the Neapolitan alla ragu on my couch comes pretty damn close.” -AK
Mr. Beef $$$$ 666 N Orleans St.
TV Pairing: Beforeigners (HBO)
“The premise for this Norweigan show on HBO immediately got me hooked - people from the past (any time period, from the Stone Age to the Viking Age to the 19th century) start to magically appear in present-day Oslo. Hence they are labeled “beforeigners.” It’s a really cool show that explores what it’s like being an outsider and having to adapt to situations that are out of your control. That’s exactly how I felt the first few times I walked into Mr. Beef. This spot on Orleans has a list of 15 rules inside the restaurant like “No Bathroom,” “No Stupid Questions,” and my favorite “No Mhhh’s, Ughhh’s, Or Duhhh’s.” It took me around 10 times to get used to how it works here, and like a beforeigner, I had no clue how to order without being insulted. But the place grew on me, and since restaurants have been closed for dine-in, I’ve missed their incredible Italian beefs with spicy giardiniera, and their even spicier insults. But in the meantime, at least I can get yelled at on the phone ordering their food.” -CM
 Sandy Noto Big Jones $ $ $ $ American ,  Southern  in  Andersonville $$$$ 5347 N. Clark St. 7.9 /10
TV Pairing: Justified (Hulu)
“This fantastic show about federal marshal Raylan Givens takes place in the hills of Kentucky, and I can confirm (don’t ask how) that Justified’s oddly tasteful portrayal of hillbillies is alarmingly accurate. While this pairing isn’t the most subtle, ordering food from Big Jones while watching this show is the way to go. This place focuses on old-timey Southern food and doesn’t f*ck around with its classic recipes. The Bluegrass Barbecue Bonanza is big enough to feed four and includes toasted buttermilk pan bread, smoky baked beans, and burgoo. Basically exactly what I think would go perfectly with moonshine. Also, Timothy Olyphant could just be sitting in an empty room and I’d watch him for hours. And yes, I know how that sounds.” -AK
Gadabout $ $ $ $ American ,  Latin ,  Mediterranean  in  Andersonville $$$$ 5212 N Clark St 7.6 /10
TV Pairing: The Witcher (Netflix)
“No show has confused and entertained me as much as The Witcher. It has mages, mythical creatures, three timelines, and dialogue that you don’t realize is being intentionally funny until episode three. Plus, it makes zero effort to explain what’s going on. In fact, Netflix created an app just to help us sort it all out. But it’s such a fun watch that none of this matters. And Gadabout’s all-over-the-place menu (where corn and poblano empanadas exist next to bonito-topped pancakes) confuses and delights me in the same way. ‘All Boys Like Ninjas’ One Piece, Episode 769
Story: Tonight I was on frying pan duty, helping make Chilli Con Carne and started crying because of how much I missed Sanji and wished his stupid head would come back. He can cook with his feet and teeth, okay?!
The onions may have also caused the crying.

The development of Law’s relationship with Zoro - Part 5: Zou, The Kindred Spirits (Reunion)
<<Part I: Before Meeting>> <<Part II: Sabaody Archipelago, The First Meeting>> <<Part III: Punk Hazard, The Alliance (A)>> <<Part III: Punk Hazard, The Alliance (B)>>  <<Part IV: Dressrosa, The Breaking Point (The Plan Failed)__ (Saving Law)__(Protecting Law)__ (Birdcage, Pica and Doflamingo)__ (Aftermath)>> <<Part V: Zou, The Kindred Spirits (Traveling Together)__(Searching for Nakama)__ (Reunion)__ (Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance)__(The Last Moments before War)>>
In the absence of Law, Straw Hats rarely mentioned their ally. Zoro did so once (chapter 814), when the matter of Sanji leaving the crew for his marriage with the 35th daughter of Big Mom was discussed. Pirate Hunter in serious tone talked about their current situation and what was awaiting them in nearest future:
“Just think about it!! We’re currently on a course that can’t be changed. Remember what Caesar said about his business. Doflamingo’s biggest trading partner for SMILE was Kaido. When we destroyed the research lab on Punk Hazard, that got Doflamingo mad. And now that we’ve destroyed the factory on Dressrosa, the next guy down the line to snap on us is Kaido of the Four Emperors!! Just like Jack, the guy who wrecked this place he’s not some far-off menace anymore… it’s only a matter of time before he comes down on us!! The reason we’re aligned with Traffy is for the fight ahead. And Kaido’s also got his sights on Kinemon’s group for reasons we don’t understand yet. We’re set up for an imminent confrontation with Kaido!!!
Zoro was fully aware about the seriousness of the situation and did not take lightly the matter of confrontation with angered Kaido. In contrast to Luffy whose idea of alliance is another name for friendship, he understood the alliance was done for pragmatic reasons.
And then, Zoro vented his frustration at Sanji and how him leaving the crew complicated everything and even argued with Nami. Luffy decided to go after the missing crewmember, against Zoro’s objection. Once Luffy and Nami met with Pekom to learn more about Sanji’s past, they were told that Black Leg’s marriage was a political deal between Big Mom and Vinsmoke Family (Germa 66) and had nothing to do with Straw Hats… except Sanji becoming Big Mom’s underling. That of course didn’t sit well with Luffy who was determined to bring Sanji back no matter what. As it turned out, Zoro was sitting outside the building and listened to all of it.
Tumblr media
Of course, asked by Luffy, Zoro denied being worried and again said to let Sanji go. Zoro’s words sounded cruel and harsh, but in the face of upcoming fight with Kaido, could stream from pragmatism. He wasn’t happy about the situation.
Then, Luffy and Zoro for the first time met Nekomamushi who jumped on them with “Garchu of Gratitude”, literally crashing both with his big body.
Tumblr media
And so, when Law finally came back, chaos greeted him:
Tumblr media
Luffy was laughing, Zoro was ready to cut in pieces the local King of the Night (under whose care Law’s crew was the whole time), while the said ruler was bleeding to death. Law wasn’t around Straw Hats for like two days and most likely the sight was pretty confusing… or not, since Straw Hats have a knack for making ruckus.
Frankly, at this point in the story Law already had a chance to see irritated Zoro, but not to the point of picking a fight with a heavily injured person.
Luffy noticed Trafalgar and his crewmates. Turned out, Law came with Heart Pirates to give an introduction...
Tumblr media
...only to ignore them all in favor of discussing with Luffy some matters.
Tumblr media
Despite Law’s dark reputation, the Heart Pirates as a group seemed to be the complete opposite of their stoic, emotionless captain. At the same time, the lack of “emotional involvement” does remind Zoro to some degree, whose similar lack of openness and dwelling on sentiments was also met with crew’s critique and insulting/booing The best seen after Vivi’s departure; all crew members called him out on his lack of heart.
Law finally was informed about the situation with missing Sanji.
Tumblr media
↪ The same as Zoro, Law was unhappy (frustrated?) by the turn of events.
↪ Zoro and Law again were in close range of each other.
Law explained to Luffy that Zou was supposed to be safe place to lay down for a while, but now Kaido knew about it and that put everyone in danger. The waiting for his return with Sanji was not an option.
Tumblr media
This moment is similar to the one from Dressrosa, when Law confronted Luffy about their plan. Then, it was Straw Hat who worried about the people of the country if he did not fight Doflamingo. Now it was Law who worried about Minks (maybe because of Bepo?). Zoro, like last time, did not take part in the captain talk.
Law’s worry about Minks delighted the natives; the alliance already saved them and even now pirates worried about their well-being. What gave another chance for a great party,
Tumblr media
There was no sight of Law, even though his crew was having fun alongside Straw Hats. Zoro found a drinking buddy in wolf(?) Mink. It seems like Law is not fond of partying and maybe drinking too. This time Roronoa and Heart Pirates didn’t try to force him into anything.
Chapter 816 & 817 brought to light the connection between Wano and Zou and who Momonosuke truly was. The two Mink leaders took samurais, Straw Hats and Law (who wasn’t a witness to the revelation about the Kozuki clan yet was invited) to meet the ninja, Raizo (chapter 817).
Tumblr media
Law and Zoro, again, were in close range of each other, both traveling at the end of the group. They most likely didn’t talk to each other, or at least the manga (and anime episode) did not provide any indication of that… unless the “chatter” sound effect above Franky & Nami included them too. Then again, Zoro and Law are the quiet type of people who don’t talk just for talking sake.
In a secret place, the group finally met Raizo. Luffy, Usopp and Chopper were the most excited about meeting a true ninja and wanted to see his ninja techniques. Even Zoro and Law added their requests to the long list of their demands.
Tumblr media
↪ The additional “murmur” added to Law’s bubble speech makes it looks like Trafalgar said his request more under his breath than aloud like Luffy, Chopper and Usopp (which may be a reason why he looked quite shocked / surprised once Raizo showed clone jutsu). Manga did not provide where Law and Zoro stood then, but based on this chapter episode 769 clearly kept those two close to each other. What could mean Zoro heard Law’s murmured demand.
↪ Zoro once again proved to be a “dark” character with his dangerous request for ninja. In a way this is ironic, because it’s Law who has the epithet of Surgeon of Death - and asked about clone jutsu - while it’s Zoro who had macabre/deadly interests.
↪ Luffy, Chopper and Usopp may be the noisy fans but they were at least openly enthusiastic while Law and Zoro hardly showed any appreciation. Their faces shown in the bubbles speech contrast a lot with the happy smiles of Luffy and Usopp.
↪ Anime added a little moment when both, in a serious yet emotionless (threatening?) tone told the ninja to hurry up with showing them all his skills. That only added to the contrast between the happy trio and these two.
Raizo got angry at such treatment and explained to them that ninjas operate in darkness and do not show their skills just like that. Yet upon seeing depressed Luffy, Usopp and Chopper (in anime, Franky, Law and Zoro were visibly disappointed by that too), the man presented various techniques - including the one asked by Law and throwing shurikens. Anime expanded this scene and showed openly smiling Law and Zoro at Raizo’s performance.
Tumblr media
↪ Once again, close to each other while keeping some distance from Luffy, Usopp and Chopper.
Whilst Robin was working to read the red poneglyph, the group separated for awhile: the samurais, Luffy, Chopper and Usopp went outside, to look at the city while the Mink Leaders, Nami, Brook, Franky, Zoro and Law waited inside the secret place. Despite their previously shown interest in ninja, Zoro and Law stayed with the more mature (adult) part of the group. Actually, Law’s choice to stay there is understable. The red stone could provide useful knowledge - albeit, did Law have any idea about the poneglyphs or the secret history is unsure. By staying, he ensured his chance to learn anything interesting in case Robin or Mink leaders decided to share something new. Zoro could have gone with the other group but for whatever reason, he stayed too.

How Predictive Analytics Can Help Prevent Infection – Hospitals & Health Networks
Central lines are a fact of life across the better part of Indiana University Health University Hospital as they are in most hospitals. Out of a total of 605,000 inpatient days in 2016, a quarter of those days included a central line. That’s not a difficult concept to understand.
But what executives at IU Health, Indianapolis, couldn’t accept as a fact of life is that bloodstream infections are an inevitable side effect of those many central lines. After tackling the issue for a time in a more traditional fashion, IU Health officials decided that something new was needed to prevent such infections, known as CLABSIs, at the 15-hospital nonprofit system.
“CLABSI is a tough animal,” says Kristen Kelley, director of infection prevention. “A lot of preventing CLABSIs today is human behavior.” People tend to not keep up with regular tasks that have no direct, immediate effect. “The safety bundles in particular — you have to work at them constantly,“ she says. “Like a diet, you can’t try it for one week and hope the behavior change sticks after that.”
As a result, IU Health leaders are stepping up the fight against CLABSI by embracing the fast-growing tool known as predictive analytics. The goal: Rather than treating the infection once it occurs, prevent it from occuring in the first place.
Framing the Issue
Nearly all U.S. hospitals have implemented electronic health records. Now the challenge is harnessing those records to improve the health of patients.
Predictive analytics allows providers to take a prospective rather than retrospective view of individual patient health, and manage populations better.
Hospitals are applying predictive analytics to trouble spots that can be a drag on reimbursement, including avoidable readmissions and hospital-acquired infections.
The ability to predict patient outcomes is only as good as the underlying data.
Predicting is the easy part in this age of robust computer analytics. The hard part is making that prediction actionable and changing the expected outcome.
IU Health launched its predictive analytics pilot in CLABSIs at University Hospital on its main campus, which includes a 600-bed, Level I trauma center and 300-bed tertiary care center, and is one of the 10 largest transplant centers in the nation. Kelley says the hope is that its real-time predictive analytics tool can identify which patients are most likely to develop such an infection, enabling clinicians to intervene earlier.
Growing predictive
Predictive analytics is an exploding area of data science, one that hospitals hope will help them improve patient care and community health in a broad range of clinical, administrative and financial arenas. Nearly 80 percent of hospital executives said they believe health care could be improved significantly with the use of predictive analytics, according to an August 2016 survey by Health Catalyst. Thirty-one percent of hospitals have used the technology for more than one year, the survey of 136 executives showed. Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they plan to adopt predictive analytics in the next three years.
Additional Information: Taking Predictive Analytics to the Next Level
Meanwhile, keeping staff on task with CLABSI prevention is daunting. IU Health University Hospital has 3,000 registered nurses working at its downtown facility alone. “In a complex academic medical center where you have staffing and acuity fluctuations and volume boluses, we need to go back to what the basic data are telling us,” Kelley says.
IU Health didn’t start with predictive analytics as a goal; it is an outgrowth of a process that began long before it launched the predictions pilot. While IU Health has had an electronic health record system for many years, the EHR has grown tremendously over the past seven years, which requires streamlining data across platforms and locations, says Tony Pastorino, director of decision support. “The biggest piece of technology is a data warehouse that has been in place for about two and a half years,“ he says.
IU Health also uses an e-surveillance program for hospital-acquired infections, which has been in place since 2008.
But the combination of EHR and e-surveillance data limited monitoring of CLABSI retrospectively, after patients are diagnosed with the infection. IU Health conducts a deep-dive review of every hospital-acquired infection. A multidisciplinary team meets with the unit providers where the infection occurred to conduct a retrospective on what went wrong, with the aim of improving performance next time.
But “next time” is too late in today’s age of stiff penalties for failure. “We felt we were constantly behind the ball,“ says Doug Webb, M.D., medical director for infection control at IU Health.
Keeping a step ahead of CLABSI
In 2016, IU Health launched a data visualization platform to allow providers on all units to see data in real time, in a usable and easy-to-comprehend format. It was a welcome transition away from Excel spreadsheets and other more labor-intensive ways of tracking data. Previously, nurse managers had to rely on staff to gather information, then check for accuracy and compile the data into spreadsheets. The hospital had five different reports in five different online locations, Kelley says.
“Now the system tells me red or green — if the trend lines are going up or down,“ she says. “I don’t have to think about it all day.”
With the introduction of the dashboard, unit nurse managers and bedside nurses can, for example, see which hospital units have missed line maintenance activities and failed to complete CLABSI-prevention bundles.
The dashboard also enables care providers to more easily track how long a central line has been in a patient. The number of line days is an important predictor of infection, according to studies, and it is one factor being used in IU Health’s predictive analytics pilot.
“The majority of our infections are due to maintenance; these are long-term lines,“ Kelley says. Other identified risk factors include length of hospitalization (even without a central line), use of total parenteral nutrition, and a low white blood cell count.
An estimated 250,000 CLABSIs occur in the U.S. annually across care settings, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Patient mortality rates associated with CLABSI range from 12 to 25 percent and the cost of the infection ranges from $3,700 to $36,000 per episode, according to the CDC.
Before the adoption of predictive analytics techniques, IU Health had implemented evidence-based, central-line practices, including safety bundles, checklists, line-insertion training and hand-hygiene rules. Those efforts succeeded in cutting its rate to 1.2 CLABSIs over central-line days in 2016 from a rate of 1.7 in 2015. Nevertheless, it was one of 769 hospitals nationwide that had their Medicare payments lowered by 1 percent for discharges because of low performance on hospital-acquired infections, according to data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for fiscal 2017.
The potential of predictive analytics to solve some of the most entrenched quality-, cost- and resource-intensive problems is driving adoption. But experts caution that predictions are only as good as the underlying data and that hospitals need the resources to respond to predicted outcomes.
“It’s very seductive,” says Michael Kanter, M.D., executive vice president of quality and chief quality officer of the Oakland, Calif.-based Permanente Federation, whose parent Kaiser Permanente has implemented predictive analytics in a number of areas. “It holds huge promise. But it’s one thing to predict the future and a whole other thing to change it.”
Implementing predictive analytics in an actionable way is one of the issues IU Health is working out now. The hospital has partnered with the transplant and trauma services lines on the CLABSI project and recruited physician leaders. The hospital is considering whether to launch the project with a small team, or merge the patients with the highest risk into the physician rounding.
“Maybe it will be a mix of both,“ says Kelley. “We are in a resource-limited environment. We have to get the most out of the tools that we have.” — Rebecca Vesely is a freelance writer based in San Francisco. •
Executive Corner: How leadership can usher in predictive analytics
Establishing an effective predictive analytics program requires leadership from all areas, from the board to the C-suite to the clinical experts. Here’s advice for all three.
Trustees: Governance support is needed to implement robust data analytics and allocate the required resources to change predicted patient outcomes.
Hospital executives: Executives today have the ability to see trends in patient outcomes more clearly thanks to better data and tools that present the data in a more user-friendly format. Trend lines can be seen in close to real time. The challenge for executives is supporting data validation efforts, and allocating resources appropriately. This might mean adding more staff initially, including care coordinators, nurses and home health workers, to respond to predictions in patient health.
Physicians: Integrating predictive analytics into workflows can be difficult. Providers should conduct small tests of change to see what works best in terms of implementation. This could require extra training and changes to daily practices, such as rounding. If providers don’t act on the prediction, patient outcomes won’t change.
