ONE PIECE 1072 SLAPS👏 HARD👏

This is the best chapter I’ve read in a while ! And that’s a feat because Egghead has been fantastic ! 

Spoilers under the cut. I might or might not have commented every panel.

> I am a sucker for narrative intros ! I am a sucker for narrative intros ESPECIALLY if they are extracted from a journal or diary.  And this narrative intro is so full of emotions ! Good for you Vegapunk ! Go rock that science !

> It is ironic that MADS is called “Laboratory of Peace” when the previous page was basically this:

> I doubt Vegapunk knew about what was going down in his “Lab of Peace”; he did hate what Ceasar did in Punk Hazard. So they probably hid it well or made it sound “for the better good and the advancement of science” like for the DFs reproduction. And it’s not like their founds were lacking : Du Feld kept on pumping money in because weapons made him good money.

> And it’s crazy how much info Oda can drop in a single panel because this one has every mad scientist with his preferred field in hand: Ceaser with the smile fruit, Queen with the chemical weapons, and Judge with the spear that ultimately became his weapon of choice. Stussy is really my kind of character. She's beautiful, she's clever and more importantly she's got those "femme fatale" vibes I love so much!

She is dangerous, she's got her own agenda and I expect a lot from her! She seems to have eaten the Vampire Vampire Fruit and her powers are so cool!

Is she someone on Dragon's side? Does she work for herself? What does she want? Does she hold a grudge against the Five Elders for using her like a puppet?

She's surrounded by so many mysteries. Okay, she's a clone. The original Stussy used to be a pirate and a very powerful one. She got Whitebeard's attention.

And I don't believe just anyone can catch this man's attention. You must be quite special. Okay, their son isn't that awesome. Unlike Roger's and Oden's sons, Newgate's son doesn't look that great.

But you can't be Momonosuke or Ace!

My goodness! It's time for us to know more about Kaido's Big mom's Newgate's and Stussy's background, don't you think?

huh... so we are actually going to get Weevil lore.... not even mad.

the man was being slept on by the fandom.

he was this walking plothole that people’s eyes just glazed over every time he was brought up.

so like... Stussy is a clone of Ms. Bakkin?  That’ll explain the connection with MADs... (though i won’t be mad if Stussy is a clone of the witch from Wano)

It chunked in a solid connection between the Rocks Pirates and Vegapunk.

Also, where Whitebeard’s meds came from when he was sick (Whitebeard, a former member of Rocks’s Crew). It was made through the same labs making the Smiles. Former MADs Members, Caesar and Queen did most of the research. Doffy had direct oversight of the operations on Dressrossa (so his logo was on the product), and Stussy was one of the “crime bosses” helping with the black market end. And on top, yet an other former member of Rock’s crew, Kaido was funding it.

If the whole “Dragon is Rock’s Son” thing is true, then Dragon meeting Vegapunk as a kid/teen theory would become highly plausible. Vegapunk and Clover would’ve been on the seas the same time as Rocks and Roger.  With all the more we learn about he people surrounding Rocks... it just all this “your heart is in the right place, but you are achieving your goals in the wrong way” vibes starting to waft off the man’s reputation.  (He’s basically ending up a villain less-and-less like The Joker and more like Magneto)

I'm guessing stussy must be who vegapunk originally called, and I would've mourned my kuma theory if it wasn't for the other bombshell this chapter dropped and it's looking likely that kuma might get his memories back if he can just get his hands on them
