❗HI! PLEASE REBLOG! SPREAD THE WORD!!❗
I hadn’t realized that this was a thing until recently, but there is this conservative “advocacy” group referred to as One Million Moms that is proving to be one of the main reasons why shows like Dead End Paranormal Park and The Owl House (both shows with queer rep) have been cancelled recently.
Their motive is to try and “provide kids with a safe entertainment experience” by erasing queer rep, but that will do more harm than good. Queer representation does not “turn one gay”; it provides viewers authentic representation that reflects how they feel/identify, allowing themselves to flourish within their own identities. As a queer person myself, this deeply hurts me. As well as an aspiring film writer with so many queer characters that I adore, the idea of having my (and other’s) work shut down is enough to break my heart entirely. And I know that so many others are feeling the same way! Representation is so beyond important!!
Here is the link to a petition to remove the One Million Moms website! Please sign if you can!
If you wish for more information, I learned about this through --Silver--’s video on Tik Tok!

"One million moms" actually a statistical error. Bigoted Karen, who makes 10,000 anti-LGBT posts a day, was an outlier and should not have been counted.

by Marjorie Jackson | According to the show’s description, “Thirteen years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.” As an TV-MA cartoon in the vein of “South Park” and “Family Guy,” “Little Demon” takes it a step further with Satanic symbols, witchcraft, demonic activity, nudity, and violence...

Those "One Million Moms" are still trying to disappear us. Their first failed boycott came in the 1990s when Disney finally extended health insurance benefits to our spouses. Oh, the horror! (From LGBTQNation) Christian conservatives demand boycott of Disney over gay teen character in “Strange World”
"Disney has left conservative and Christian families with no choice," a petition they're circulating says. By Alex Bollinger Friday, November 18, 2022 Disney’s “Strange World” is getting positive attention in Hollywood for including a gay, biracial teen character since its world premiere on Tuesday. But One Million Moms (OMM) – a project of the anti-LGBTQ hate group American Family Association (AFA) – is calling for a boycott of Disney over the movie.
“Strange World” follows a biracial family of adventurers as they explore a treacherous land filled with bizarre and dangerous creatures. Back in June, Disney screened several scenes from the film at France’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of which shows 16-year-old Ethan awkwardly flirting with another boy.“The scene describes [Ethan] being very shy in front of his boy crush, and his dad comes in and says ‘So nice to meet you! my son talks about you all the time,’ and further embarrasses his son,” Emmy Award-winning producer Matthieu Saghezchi tweeted after seeing the scene in June. “Very cute.” “Very cute” isn’t how OMM described that scene: “Obviously, this part of the movie is a nod to inclusivity, along with a blatant attempt by Disney to normalize a same-sex crush.” The problem for OMM isn’t just “Strange World,” but Disney in general. “Disney is no longer being discrete, but now Disney has traded its subtlety for intentionality,” the group wrote on its website. “The Disney that parents knew as children is long gone. Disney has now decided to be politically correct instead of providing family-friendly programming. But Disney should stick to entertaining, not pushing an agenda.”
The group has set up a petition to protest the movie. Instead of calling for a boycott of only the movie, though, they’re calling for a boycott of the entire Disney Corporation.
“I do not agree with the LGBTQ agenda you are pushing on families in the upcoming animated movie Strange World,” the petition reads. “My family and I will not watch this film. Disney has left conservative and Christian families with no choice but to avoid “Strange World” since it goes against our beliefs and values. My family will not support Disney; you have lost our trust.”
The group claims to have almost 16,000 signatures so far on the petition.
OMM isn’t the only group that’s upset the movie includes a gay teen character.“
As Disney begins pushing ‘Strange World’ for next week’s release, here’s the reminder that their ‘not-at-all-secret gay agenda’ to target kids is ongoing,” said Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro earlier this week. “It’s a part of the plot of this movie, just as it was with ‘Lightyear.’ Your kids, your choice.”
Disney released a statement earlier this year opposing Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law, which led to the Florida legislature voting to end a contract with Disneyworld because the corporation spoke out. Conservatives protested in front of Disney theme parks, with rightwingers calling Disney “groomers,” Satanic, and “PEDO World” for supporting LGBTQ rights.
In April of this year, video from a conference call with Disney executives showed that many of the executives supported having more LGBTQ characters in films. Rightwing activist Christopher Rufo, who leaked the video, called for a boycott of Disney.
The AFA first targeted Disney with a boycott in the 1990s because the corporation was giving benefits to employees’ same-sex partners. The boycott ended in 2005 without any policy change at Disney.“We feel after nine years of boycotting Disney we have made our point,” AFA President Tim Wildmon said in the organization’s June 2005 newsletter.

So a hotel has released a commercial featuring a lesbian couple, and One Million Moms have lost the plot over it. They say it's an "attempt to normalise sin". Sweethearts all you're trying to do is normalise hatred. The LGBTQ just want to normalise love. Groups like this need to find a better hobby

Apparently, I missed that Liv pissed off One Million Moms/AFA by (checks notes) discussing their surgery making them happy.
(The degree to which the political organization missed every point they were making...)
[Obvious cw that they misgender Liv repeatedly and intentionally]

Lady Gotham raises Danny as a single mother
Danny gets de-aged and Clockwork sends him to live with his Daughter, Lady Gotham.
You would expect Lady Gotham to look very Gothic. Like a noble lady from the 1600′s or a ghostly woman in a large veil. Maybe even just a mass of writhing shadows?
But no, Lady Gotham looks like your stereotypical Single Mother at all times, cause she always has to keep her Bat-Kids safe like the rambunctious children they are, and it’s a 24/7 job
She basically has the house-mom look, frizzy hair tied up in a ponytail, a stained apron from making dinner, always looks tired but always has time to indulge her kids games, all that
After she takes in Danny, she decides to create herself a Civilain Identity so she can raise him as both a Human and as a Ghost. And raising the future High King has it's side effects, for example he is constantly producing excess Ectoplasm which empowers her enough to maintain a Corporeal form for much longer than she could before.
Now she can just live in her City, and actually Interact with her citizens like she never could before!
She starts helping out more, dispelling some of the more Nasty curses placed on her City and making people feel more safe than before.
She gives packed lunches to homeless kids, every day without fail, and they are always filled with that kids favorite snacks alongskde some healthy foods. None of her children are going to go hungry on her watch!
She donates to the local homeless shelters, and gives them some Good Luck charms so they experience less problems. She needs to teach her kids good morals after all!
She starts a Rooftop Garden on her apartment Building, handing out the produce to anybody who asks to borrow some. Somehow she never runs out no matter how much they ask for. It's good manners to treat your neighbors with respect! A cup of sugar and all that!
She embodies the "Neighboorhood Mom" stereotype perfectly, just across the entire city instead.
And the Batfam don't even notice for a few months! She isn't doing anything big, just being a good Samaritan, and a good mom.
Then, one day, Red Hood shows up and tells everybody that he was kidnapped by a Lady who kept saying stuff like "We need to get that dirty ecto sorted out, we are long overdue for a check up!"
And now he feels perfectly fine. No more green vision, no more violent tendencies, he's just not as angry about that anymore.
Now the Batfam are trying to find thus lady, but it's kind of hard since all Jason could give for a description is "She looked like a Stereotypical Single Mom. That's all I can remember about her appearance."

Watching people take every piece of speculative fiction 100% at face value and as a one to one to real life makes me insane. Like you’re an adult you know what a metaphor is. These things are not real you don’t need to take a moral stance on what the art depicts and condemn the author or fans for it that’s not the point

While, I don’t hate the women that express “doomer” ideology, I do think it’s Really Bad for a wide range of reasons. One of the most important of which is the all or nothing type of valuation it places on resistance, we either destroy all patriarchy, or we’re all doomed, and the way it negates our power as living breathing adult women to do anything at all the change our circumstances, because I can’t change all of it-I change nothing instead.
There are thousands of women on this website that are alive right now who want a better world-do you seriously believe none of our efforts, do you believe the efforts of all the women who’ve ever lived amount to nothing just because we haven’t achieved a post-patriarchal society? Think about all the ways women’s resistance, big and small, has nurtured you-even before feminism was a thought in your head. Did that not matter to you? Did it not help protect you? To warn you? To feed your soul? Not enough of course, but all of that effort was enough to make you brave enough to dig for answers, to not immediately give in to all that was expected of you, to find a place here on this website, surely. It did matter, even just hearing or seeing something that made you feel seen for the first time in your life-that does matter.
I think one of patriarchy’s most pernicious effects is the way it corrupts intimacy between women. We are trained to play act images of women that men create through media and social control we end up worrying if we’re successful in our impersonation of this being we call “woman” always trying to be nice enough, tidy enough, small enough etc…and disrupts our images of woman’s actual humanity and personhood. Remember how crazy you felt before you discovered feminism, imagine all the other women and girls who already do and will one day feel like you. You thought no other woman was like you, until one day you went to a secret place, somewhere men didn’t control, and discovered, it wasn’t true.
Women’s ability to resist patriarchy is a gift to us, it lets us know, even hundreds of years into the future, that we have never really been alone. Women who acted out to the point of being disciplined via religious, psychiatric or state institutions. Women who worked in secret as men to be able to write, create, make and live independently. Women who pushed politically for their rights. Even just women who survived and gained power for themselves in environments that were hostile to it. They all gave us a gift and that gift is the knowledge that they were alive, they mattered and they didn’t like it-they weren’t these images of women that men created-they were human, just like us. More than just giving us comfort, these big and small acts of resistance allow us to more fully understand not only the totality of what we’re up against-but also to appreciate the incredible fortitude of women who persisted against incredible odds. They didn’t know what their fates were going to be either and it probably felt as bleak, if not more, than it does right now. We can find women like this in the historical record, even if Big Patriarchy is still around.
It’s true that individually we don’t have a lot of control over the Really Big Historical Picture, but the good news is we don’t have to-we just need to control our slice of it. There are so many women just waiting to find women like us, there are girls growing up who need to see us to know that they’re not alone and that there is a community of women who feel like them and who are worth fighting for. Focus on making yourself visible as a human being to the women around you, on trying to make a mark big enough so that women in the future can find you. We are alive and we matter-and I really think this is enough. It’s a very worthy effort to live by and for other women and usefully it’s also a really critical step in building solidarity, so even if some of us get crazy ideas about doing something to change the Big Historical Picture, they’ll have a much better chance of achieving it.
