I'm not a huge fan of this time of year, so in order to distract myself it's time for another episode of the utterly nonsensical series that absoloutely nobody requested!

Revisiting Mimble Sparklepudding (of this very blog) we discover further insights... "A Girl Blended Pimp Musk" suggests that Mimble has been purchasing some rather potent cologne from an obliging young alchemist. Clearly matters olfactory are of great concern to Mimble currently, as he a releases a shortened version of his autumn musings - "Pumpkin Smell - Abridged". I genuinely have no idea what's going on with "A Sprinkled Pig Mumbled", but I don't think Mimble should be sprinkling things on pigs, even if it does make them speak...

Digone Boi of @softscales reveals his disapproval of certain alcoholic drinks - "I booed gin!", possibly because of the resulting raucous "Boogie Din", which sounds quite loud. However, "I do big one!" I leave entirely open to your interpretations...

Nira'sae Mian of @sae-mian is more devout than we realised, as they are "A Seminarian" apparently. I don't know who believes they deserve to be called "A Mean Raisin", but fortunately they won't mind too much, as they will soon forget about it due to the gently falling "Amnesia Rain" (which sounds like a good name for an album).

Meanwhile, Cimarra Skylark of @cimarraskylark, is organising her dairy products, as it's apparently time for her to "Arrange Milk Racks". However she is always mindful of the need to guard herself against the predations of men called Kirk, with the aid of her "Scary Kirk Alarm".

You know, I would have pegged you for too sensible/emotionally inert in a good way to be into gender shit enough to think of "terfs" as a thing and not, you know, normal feminists. Like that's the thing, fandom's always had a lot of Feelings Girl crap about gender going on, but you didn't seem super in on it. "Amused detachment" seems integral to your.. brand? persona? Maybe racist of me, but aligning with the "sex is a spectrum" people seems wrong on a *class* basis, too. Oh, well.

I don’t catch and don’t want to interpret what you’re trying to say here about racial and class attitudes toward gender (charitably or not), but I will say that people who make “biological sex is fixed” etc. a core part of their online identities in 2023 are *very* high up on their feelings about it - they’re hardly more emotionally detached than those espousing the other side of the argument. After all, from the pov of the sensible and emotionally inert, the term “trans-exclusionary radical feminist” is purely descriptive of a set of related political and philosophical positions with historicity and context; if any given individual wants to dispute whether they personally subscribe to any/all of the three parts of that phrase, they’re free to do so. I would never say a TERF is a priori not a feminist, though I’ve encountered plenty of opinion-havers who are trans-exclusionary and also not feminist.

Just in case anyone needs cheering up...

I have a couple of friends going through difficult times at the moment and naturally I am trying to be supportive. One has just split up from his boyfriend and is struggling with being single and the other is struggling with anxiety and wants to be reassured that we aren't facing imminent nuclear conflict.

I meant to message one suggesting they try a hook-up or dating website and the other about the positive news regarding Finland joining NATO.

Unfortunately I was half asleep at the time and consequently messaged one to suggest they joined NATO and the other to tell them that Finland has signed up to Grindr...

I think both were slightly confused, to say nothing of the policy implications of NATO being bolstered by the addition of a bisexual furry, or an entire Scandinavian country joining a hook-up site.
