For some reason I just can‘t stop imagining Ed defeatedly crawling into the auxiliary wardrobe to wallow in his sadness, alone, only to be met with a familiar voice saying „well, well, well“ and as he turns around Lucius is leaning against the door frame as wet as a poodle and sassily says „Look who went back into the closet“

When divorce 3 is over I want Stede go to visit Mary and Doug with Ed and Izzy. Stede is in one of his frilly outfits again and these two are in their leathers following him like scary guard dogs. As they walk through town everyone is whispering about it, impressed and scared but then they arrive to Mary's house and knock. Mary is a bit hesistant to let her ex husband in with Blackbeard and Izzy Hands for gods sake but Stede insists so out of politeness she invites them in for tea. All five of them are in the salon drinking tea and then the kids come in and Mary tries to wordlessly tell them to go away, but they are way too interested in the pirates. And suddenly Blackbeard is on the floor with them, playing along with their games, making the kids laugh like never before. And after his cup is empty, Izzy Hands asks if they'd like him to sing some sweet love song. Mary and Doug look at each other, like "this cannot be real, is this a dream?" But Izzy starts singing and it's the most beautiful thing. And Stede just sits there with a cup of tea telling tales of his victories as the most fearsome pirates Mary and Doug have heard of act like a silly little harem of his. And Mary thinks that yeah maybe Stede was meant for this life after all.
When they leave she kisses all three of them on the cheek, and asks them to visit again soon.

Stede sees that Ed's automatic reaction to upsetting situations is to hide under a blanket - that that's where he goes to try and feel safe when he's feeling vulnerable - and slowly but surely begins to amass a collection of different blankets in their bedroom. Different sizes, different weights, different colours, different thicknesses, different fabrics, different textures - all folded neatly under their bed, to make sure Ed has exactly what he needs to feel safe on any given day and in response to any given situation/emotion.
He also notes that Ed likes the pressure of being cuddled whilst wrapped in the blanket, that that makes him feel especially safe and secure, but it becomes tricky on those days when Ed just wants to be left alone (especially if the upset in question is some sort of argument between them). So, Stede writes to Wee John, and they put their heads together to find a solution, and that's how they invent ye olde weighted blanket.

He just looks so exhausted and vulnerable here. Just look at his eyes. I'm imagining Stede kneeling beside him, gently stroking his hair while whispering reassurances that everything is okay, that Ed is safe now after whatever trauma he's just gone through. His cheeks are pink with fever and there's a cut on one of them that Stede has so carefully cleaned. Stede drapes an extra blanket over him and tries to coax some broth past his lips and takes care of his injuries so carefully, explaining every step before he does it so Ed doesn't get scared. Ed is in so much pain, but Stede presses a kiss to his forehead and tells him he's doing so well and he's so proud of him, and Ed knows he can get through it because Stede is there with him.
Anyway, that's just what I thought of when I saw this.

I was just watching S01E01 and there's a bit where Badminton makes fun of Stede for crying and picking flowers 😠 🤬
Headcanon: Ed takes Stede to a field of flowers and asks him to tell him about the different types. Because he loves the way Stede face lights up when he's talking about something he loves, and he could listen to him endlessly ♥

Okay, I know the obvious solution for where Stede got all dem bottles from is that he was literally working at a bar and they would've just been lying around
But I have a gremlin brain
So imagine, if you will, Stede starting his little ritual of writing to Ed one night when he's very drunk and sad and the crew isn't sure they really trust him again yet, if they ever trusted him at all. Stede's alone in the bar and all he wants is to talk to his Edward
Stede doesn't know if he'll ever get to talk to his Edward again
So he drinks and he cries and he scrawls his thoughts down on a ye olde bar napkin and drunkenly shoves it into the empty bottle for safekeeping
Eventually Stede passes out at the table he's sat at. Someone wakes him up the next morning - maybe the Swede - and asks why he's sleeping in the bar. Stede starts to explain, but his head is pounding, so he decides to go for a walk. He grabs a random bottle to keep him company
Eventually he makes it down to the water - the Republic of Pirates is a pretty small island, after all. Stede goes to take a swig from the bottle he's brought, but finds it dry. He sees the letter and feels some stirrings of embarrassment - he's supposed to be Captain Not-Bonnet, a fearsome (temporarily grounded) pirate. How can his crew depend on him if he's getting sloppy drunk and writing cringe love notes after work?
Just as Stede is about to throw the bottle containing his love letter into the sea, he has the wild thought that once it's out there, Ed might find it. It can't possibly be worth it just to save face with Stede's crew, Ed deserves better than his drunken ramblings
Or maybe what Ed deserves is for Stede to be brave, just this once. Besides, the ocean's a big place. Surely Ed won't find this letter. And if he does? Maybe that's okay. If any piece of Stede's heart can reach across the Caribbean, it'll be closer to Ed than the rest of Stede is, and that's all he really wants
So Stede throws the bottle-letter out to the waves and feels instantly a little lighter than he did yesterday
Tl;dr Stede Bonnet invented the drunk text

do you guys ever think that the crew would ask stede to read to them again during s2 when they all reunited?
i think about that.
i think about Jim and stede doing voices together
i think about fang giggling at the funny bits
i think about everyone cuddled up together, all have changed but still the same.

Okay but we can all see that THIS is not the s1 lute
Tumblr media
This instrument is definitely different, somewhat posher, and by the looks of it relatively new.
Of course Frenchie could've gotten it whenever BUT I suggest that it was a gift from Izzy. I mean they do end up playing/singing together so is it really that far fetched to think that Iz perhaps got it for him at some point in the hope they could sing and play together, not actually expecting to ever have the confidence to do so in front of the crew?
Anyway that's what I'm putting forward. It was a sweet little gift from his partner

no one asked but i have many thoughts on what steddy hands would watch on tv
Ed is the type to watch whatever is on, the prime consumer of shitty daytime television, loves soap operas and he goes around updating everyone on what happened (he’s been banned from watching jackass tho, had to sneak over to jack’s to watch it) also is a big fan of Ridiculousness
Stede is a pbs enjoyer, a food network connoisseur, and an hgtv fiend (Ed gets concerned when he catches Stede watching Fixer Upper— which Stede simply calls “Chip and Joanna”— bc that means he gonna start trying his own home improvement projects) he also likes a good sitcom and game show (he got Izzy into Jeopardy and now they compete)
Izzy doesn’t watch much but he did watch Breaking Bad as it was coming out and because it was really the only thing he watched that meant Stede and Ed would have to give up the tv to let him watch it (they would stay to watch with him and would grow increasingly alarmed meanwhile Izzy just sits there in silence only occasionally laughing at scenes like the bathtub scene or whispering under his breathe “fucking stupid” then after the episode is over he just gets up and leaves Ed and Stede on the couch baffled— ofc they’re all sucked into the show by the end but Stede stands firm that he hates all the characters)

When Ed told Stede that he and Jack had a lot more common that he realized, what Ed meant was that he has a type (blond and cunning, but a little dumb).

unlikely things I need to happen in OFMD s2/3: Pedro Pascal made up to look nearly identical to Blackbeard & playing the role of Izzy Hands’s ex husband. everyone will be able to see the resemblance except Izzy Pedro & Stede

I see you're taking requests!! I'd like to request a Izzy hand x gn/male reader where the reader is oddly obsessed with Izzy's hands if that's okay? Could be sfw or NSFW, whatever your heart is more into :3
(I'm so deeply in love with Izzy you don't understand, littol rat man stole my heart so I am more than happy to write for him)
(Izzy Hands x gender neutral reader - set pre-season 2, some NSFW towards the end :P)
Izzy is an observant man, so sooner or later he will notice the unusual amount of attention you direct towards him.
How he reacts to it, though, will depend on how close you already are.
If you two are not close, he maintains his distance for a bit while he tries to figure out what's going on with you. He doesn't understand at first what your intentions are - he figures if anything that you're just intimidated by him - so he doesn't think much of it. However, after catching you staring a few times while he's working and seeing your flustered face turn away, he guesses that there's something more behind it.
As he starts finding excuses for you to help him with things, another thing he notes is that you seem most fixated on him when he's working with his hands. He catches you, just once, transfixed by the way his hands move when he shows you how to tie a particular knot for the second time.
Izzy curses himself when he finds himself making an effort to get your attention like that more, and he maybe even initiates some casual affection, like putting a hand on your shoulder or your lower back while he's talking to you.
If you two are in a relationship when he begins to notice, the teasing will start fast.
"See something you like, darlin'?"
And once he sees just how flustered it gets you, he'll find any excuse to rile you up.
He absolutely does that thing where he cups your jaw with his fingers and traces his thumb over your lips.
He'll beckon you over on deck with a crook of his fingers, and from the smirk on his face he knows the filthy thoughts that motion sparks.
If Izzy's sat next to you, there's a hand placed firmly on your thigh and, if you don't protest, his fingers will trace upwards until you're squirming in your seat.
(Sidenote: if you ask him very nicely he will absolutely wear the glove in bed.)

My overtly dramatic but realistic prediction for the OFMD S2 pearl necklace:
After Stede and Ed make up, their freshly reestablished bond is (understandbly so) very fragile because Ed still carries a lot of the hurt from that night on the beach with him.
Stede, seeing how horribly he hurt the man that he loves, decides to come up with a plan and tells Ed that the crew and him will do some “lame robbery” to earn some money back and that Ed should just stay in the cabin because it wouldn’t excite him anyways and he should better use that time to rest and to get some energy back.
In reality Stede drags the crew into a fancy jewlery store and asks them for help to pick out something fancy because of Ed’s love for fine things.
The crew being absolutely done (because let’s be real “picking out apology jewlery for your captain’s boyfriend who left you out to die” really wasn’t part of the job description) just points at all kinds of stuff in hopes of going back to the ship as soon as possible.
However, Stede - being the extra person he is - feels like nothing is good enough for his beloved until he sees the pearl necklace and his eyes light up.
The crew looks very sceptical and asks their captain if he is sure that that is really something that Edward, Blackbeard, would like; but Stede is 100% convinced (“It’s perfect”).
So they steal the necklace (“I am sorry gentlemen, I wish I could pay you for your services but I’m doing this in the name of love!”) and head back to the ship.
When Stede arrives, Edward is already standing on deck and skeptically but curiously comes up to see what they gathered from the “lame robbery” - Izzy is right by his side and looks as pissed as ever.
While the crew already prepares to be thrown of the ship a second time, Stede hides the necklace behind his back and starts with a speech that probably goes something like:
“Ed, I know how much I’ve hurt you but I wanted you to know that I am so thankful to have been given a second chance by you and that I really don’t take any of this for granted.
And to honor that, I, with the help of the crew, picked out this fine piece of jewlery to remind you of the fact that you are worthy of beautiful things and how much I really meant it when I told you that I loved you”
Edward very slowly takes the pearl necklace out of Stede’s hands and looks at it with an unreadable expression - which in turn makes Izzy grin with pride:
“You are such a miserable creature, Bonnet. Did you really think that you could make someone like Blackbeard, the most cruel pirate to have ever lived, forgive you by gifting him a woman’s necklace?!”
“I love it”
“Exactly! He- WHAT?!”
Ed’s eyes are watery and still focused on the necklace as he quietly repeats himself:
“I love it”, he says, hesitates, but then walks up to Stede and kisses him on the cheek, “thank you” he adds and starts blushing.
(“Most cruel pirate to have ever lived” repeats Black Pete meanwhile under his breath with an obvious eyeroll, which earns him an elbow from Lucius)
Stede finally feels the tension leave his body and manages to shyly reply “no, thank you” with a smile that mirrors Ed’s.
Izzy only manages to hiss “I’m too old for this shit” as he turns on his heel and walks off.
But Ed honored the symbol of their renewed love and never went anywhere without the necklace again.

manifesting scenes in s2 where Ed is still mad at Stede for leaving and is doing that thing little kids do where they pretend they can’t hear what the other person is saying
so Stede is stood on one side, Ed on the other (very stubbornly refusing to look at him), with a very awkward Frenchie in the middle passing messages back and forth between them when they can very obviously hear exactly what each other are saying
Frenchie: Blackbeard says he’s not talking to you.
Stede: But I’m trying to explain why I left!
Frenchie: Mr Blackbeard, Kraken, sir, Captain Bonnet says he wants to explain why he left.
Ed: Well, you can tell Bonnet I don’t want to hear it.
Frenchie, to Stede: Blackbeard says he doesn’t want to hear it.
Stede: Won’t he at least look at me?
Frenchie, to Ed: He says won’t you at least look at him?
Ed: Tell him I’m never looking at his stupid dumb face ever again.
Frenchie, to Stede: He says—
(This goes on until even Izzy grows tired of it and forces Ed to actually talk to him just to stop this fucking nonsense.)
