S1E6 The Art of Fuckery except when Izzy says “I’ll happily end it” Ed takes him up on it and throughout the rest of the day, Izzy’s real nice to Stede, the whole time knowing that he’ll be ending his life that night and Stede COMPLETELY misreads the situation and when Izzy pushes him into a dark corner of the ship to do it, Stede kisses him assuming that’s what this was all about. Poor touch-starved Izzy gets into it and after 10 or so minutes of making out, realizes killing Stede is NOT gonna get him laid, so he doesn’t do it and then has to walk-of-shame back to Blackbeard the next morning to fess up.

Man, Ed tried to full-on sacrifice himself for Stede by saying that he killed Nigel. He was willing to straight-up die to keep him safe.

I wonder how anyone could imagine that Ed would feel fine with Izzy ever again, if he ever felt fine with him at all, knowing that Izzy sold them out to the English with the sole goal of getting Stede executed, then tried to buy Ed from the English (and what a racist undercurrent that has).

Throughout the season, Ed says over and over exactly what he wants, and shows exactly who he wants, and Izzy ignores it at every turn because he thinks he "knows better."

Then Izzy stands there with his mouth open as Ed prefers to destroy Blackbeard than live without Stede.

Because all Ed wants is Stede.

one of the many things that keep me awake at night re: ofmd S2 is that us Izzy people have long argued that his hostility towards Lucius in s1 could be very much read as "your softness has no place in a world like this, you're going to get in serious trouble if you don't change, on any other ship you'd be fucked, I've learned this the hard way why are you being so stupid" and back in S1 none of us expected that to actually become a plot point and then S2 came around and slapped us over the head with "the second Lucius leaves the Revenge he goes through absolute trauma city and when he rejoins the crew, he is bitter and angry and hardened just like Izzy was in S1" and... like... I just want to lock them in a room and make them talk through their trauma ok
