hnggg thinking about in the kraken era of the revenge... and izzy and frenchie are in hell, of course they are, everyone is in hell right now, this ship is hell, and frenchie is slowly losing hope that they'll escape from it. izzy never really had a hope and its so so clear to frenchie, as clear as it is that izzy is taking hits for the crew, pissing off blackbeard to focus his wrath on him rather than everyone else. frenchie notices and he tries to take care of izzy in turn (which is really fucking hard, obviously, because its izzy) but one day theyre alone and frenchie does... something. he doesnt even really know what he did - said something, probably, maybe did something, and he hadnt intended for it to be funny but the words had come out or the action had happened and izzy smiled.

it was tiny. miniscule. practically invisible. but frenchie notices and its izzy, so even a tiny smile seems to light up his whole face, especially with how utterly bleak izzy is every single day, in pain and bleeding and trying to hold it together but barely managing. he smiles, and it makes something in izzy ease if only for a brief moment, and frenchie decides then and there that he'll do his best to make izzy smile at least once a day.

some days he cant manage it, even with his best material. sometimes he knows he shouldnt try. but every other day or so he manages to get one of those small, barely there smiles out of him and watching him have even the smallest spark of peace, that tiny fraction of softness... frenchie thinks that its even though its not quite hope it might be just as good.

Another valid theory that someone brought up: He might’ve been planning to give it to Stede to propose to Ed with. I like this theory a lot less than him proposing to Frenchie, for obvious reasons, but… could be. Could be.

Alright, so lemme just hop on here to scream about the reveal that Izzy was about to give the ring to someone and about what, after some discussion, seem to be the likely possibilities:

1. The obvious thing. He was going to give it to Ed but never worked up the nerve (“Izzy never let himself fall in love”) and then Stede came along.

2. He was going to give it to Fang. He and Fang were shown to be very close. The knee-sitting theory has been marinating in my bones now. And Fang was going to wear a veil at the funeral.

3. Ouizzy, baby. Supported by the crumbs we’ve all been feasting on, the fact that Frenchie handled the neck tie at the funeral, the emerald is his color, Con himself has said if he could pick anyone for Izzy, he’d have Frenchie, Frenchie becomes Captain, AND Con’s words were apparently that he was “about to” give it to someone. Which can mean he was going to in his headcanon and was stopped short by what happened in the finale, OR… he was going to be back in s3, Ouizzy was going to be canon and maybe they were even going to retire together (the last part is just what I want to see, personally, but 🫠)

Anyway, there are so many possibilities and all of them are making my gums bleed and my brain turn to jelly.

Gods, I wish we had more time to see the crew bonding

I wish we had seen Izzy training Jim, teaching them restraint while they taught him to live a little and stop being so hesitant

I wish we had seen Wee John and Frenchie reunite, with Wee John telling Frenchie he would have hated how crowded it was when the crew were all rooming together. How he missed their nook

I wish we had Archie and Oluwande interact more, maybe with them flirting or coming together as a triad with Jim properly

I wish Roach saw the Kraken Crew eating a raw seagull and was horrified! I wish he could have focused on giving them proper meals and help them enjoy eating as an act of living rather than an act of survival

I wish Frenchie could have shown more of him becoming a leader, taking charge when the captains fail and always putting his crew first

I wish Pete would have tried to impress the trauma crew by claiming he went through a ton of horrible stuff too before backing down and admitting that it isn't all about him and that he should take a back seat and listen

Can you imagine a fucking. Bachelor party for both Lucius and Pete?? Holy shit, that'd be cute
