Verse: Local Terror
Odo was... unwilling to play nice with the humanoids, of the Bajoran or the Cardassian varieties. As soon as he had the opportunity, he escaped into the systems of Terok Nor, and frankly, those in charge had more important things to worry about than him. Until he decided that the station was his, at least, and started making himself the most important worry.
Essentially, Odo becomes a local cryptid, in this verse. He isn't interested in pretending to be humanoid or solid. In this verse, Odo may use they/them or it/its pronouns instead of he/his.

Odo/Kira and Meru - This Be The Verse for Vermin_Disciple
Maru and the baby Changeling color-changing to show emotions belong to @vermin-disciple and is used with permission from the author.
The colors were inspired by Elena’s mood magic dress: yellow for happy, blue for sad, red for angry. The story is based on „This Be The Verse“: https://archiveofourown.org/works/220...
In this AU the baby Changeling survives and is adopted by Kira after Kirayashi’s birth. Maru is kept safe on the Defiant when the Dominion takes over the station and ze bonds with Miles and Nog, starting a fascination for engineering.
 - Thank you for Laura Schiller fort he suggestion of the toolbox scene.

Starter for @constable
‘Huh? So, what you’re implying is that if I press this button’ ⸺ Lore’s finger hovered precariously close over the red button protruding from the control panel, his receptors sensing the magnetic pull of the mechanisms under its cap, which tugged gently at the circuitry beneath his bioplast sheeting ⸺ ‘you’d have to evacuate all of Deep Space Nine?’ the android smirked malignantly, locking eyes with the Changeling. ‘You have no idea how tempted I am to put your emergency protocols to the test right now.’
It was a miracle the people on this space station hadn’t immediately hurled him at the authorities. After all, he was responsible for the deaths of myriad colonists on that irksome little planet called Omicron Theta... The name alone elicited a bitterness so obstreperous that it would take him several hydraulic circulations to placate himself again. The recollections were like a fever dream, except from the fact that they had actually transpired. They were real and he had suffered through every single one of them...
Perhaps the reason why the Bajorans had so easily accepted ⸺ well ⸺ tolerated him was because they were used to having war criminals over for supper. War criminals and exiled spies moonlighting as tailors. It was either that, or they were simply so self-absorbed they couldn’t care less about who was gallivanting around the station and where they hailed from.
‘Why is a starbase even rigged out with such a feature?’ he asked with quizzical mockery. ‘I know it’s Cardassian in design and that those disproportionate lizards tend to be a little bit xenophobic and jittery around other species that don’t have spoons jutting out of their foreheads, but surely, surely Starfleet engineers would’ve found a way to disable this destructive little plaything by now ⸺ what if someone accidentally sat on it?’

@constablegoo: ❛ why can’t i come with you? ❜
Tumblr media
"huh? this kinda whining isn't like you." quark casts a glance over his shoulder at odo, pausing with a carefully folded shirt in his hand, just shy of placing it in his suitcase. "you can come if you REALLY want to, but you're gonna be bored. also i don't really want you hovering while i'm trying to do business. i don't need your commentary."
beyond that, quark knows there's more important things odo could && probably should be doing, rather than traveling around with him. && yet the selfish part of him hopes that odo won't heed his warning, && insist on coming anyway.
it gets lonely, sometimes.
"don't come if you're just gonna complain the whole time. that's all." he places the shirt in his bag. "i'll be back in a couple of weeks."

“They can’t have got far, Constable,” he muses, pacing around the security office as the usual Promenade traffic parades past outside. “The Commodore and the Major said that all the docking clamps are in place, there’s no runabouts missing, and no other shuttlecraft departing... which means they have to be on the station. Though I wonder...” He looks to @constablegoo , raising an inquisitve eyebrow. “Do they mean to stop after one theft, or are we looking to prevent another?” || starter call!

4. WIP: Concrete Garden Beds - I haven't posted about this yet, but a couple of months ago I started screwing around with concrete. Naturally, I decided to make some giant ST themed yard art with it. Planning on turning them into succulent gardens. I was hoping to finish them before the end of the year, but didn't have either the time or the weather for it. So, here's a preview of the bigger one:
Tumblr media
Year In Review:
Total word count: 13,134
Longest complete fic: The Gift of Giving Names (2,680 words)
Most popular fic: Can't Have One Without the Other (kudos: 153, bookmarks: 14)
Most popular fan craft: My bind of A Stitch in Time (507 notes)
My personal highlights: The Gift of Giving Names and The Smoke of Her Burning. The former is something I've had on the back-burner for years so I'm glad I finally got it finished to my own satisfaction. The latter is the opposite: I didn't plan at all, just wrote in a day or two in response to a prompt. It's been a while since I wrote something this bleak and angsty, which was fun. I'm also incredibly pleased with how my attempt to pastiche a Shakespearean sonnet turned out. And finally, for bookbinding, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to top my version of A Stitch in Time.
All in all, kind of a lousy year for writing, but not bad in terms of fanwork diversity. I'm particularly happy with the progress I've made with my bookbinding, and looking forward to playing around more with concrete in 2024.
Happy New Year!

Everytime I listen to "Ruthlessness" from Epic The Musical, it always reminds me of a scenario in Minus One where "Hey, what if Tachibana did NOT forgive/help Shikishima and continued to hold that grudge against him?"
Therefore, I am compelled to bring you...
My TED talk of why I think this song is basically the scenario of Tachibana if he never forgave Shikishima;
Disclaimer: I will not take from the musical itself, only the lyrics I see on screen
Blue ; Lyrics
Normal coloured text ; Analysis
Also HUGE Godzilla Minus One Spoilers and I am totally 100% sane making this
---
(I'm not counting the multiple "Poseidon"s at the start because you can't really analyse that </3)
" In all my years of living, it isn't very often that I get pissed off,
I try to chill with the waves, but damn you've crossed the line. "
The mention of the waves - I see as a direct reference to the fact that Shikishima is a minesweeper - sailing the waves on his boat. (This is assuming this is all being said to Shikishima after he becomes a minesweeper)
" I've been so gracious, but yet you hurt this son of mine "
Instead of the 'yet you hurt this son of mine' line making an accusation of hurting his son, I'd say Tachibana would instead make a direct reference to Shikishima letting his friends get injured(killed)
" That's right, the cyclops you made blind is mine. "
" No, "
[ N/A - Dont have analysis for these lines ]
" I'm left without a choice, and without a doubt
Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now
I gotta make you bleed, I need to see you drown,
But before you go, I need to make you learn how "
Okay, so, for the first two lines, I took this as two meanings. My first idea is that the whole "sharks" mention is another little reference to Shikishima working on the ocean. But then, the pack of wolves swimming with the sharks could be a direct signal to the large group of corpses (Tachibana's allies) on Odo Island being washed into the sea after the Godzilla attack. And clearly the third line of harming Shikishima is Tachibana wanting to practically kill him due to him blaming Shikishima for his crew being gone.
" Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves "
First of all, such a banger line in general. Second, I think this would be Tachibana saying that you need to kill to be 'Ruthless' and execute certain actions sometimes to save those around you, which in a way saves ourselves because if he saved everyone around him, he wouldn't have to feel that guilt. He considers Shikishima to have had a choice when aiming at Godzilla, and Shikishima "actively" never took that choice. If he did kill Godzilla - In which perhaps the powerful guns could have in Tachibana's eyes - then he would have mercy on himself because he wouldn't live with the added guilt of being responsible for all those deaths caused by the lizard he "refused" to kill.
A Greek who reeks of false righteousness, that's what I hate!
" You are the worst kind of good 'cause you're not even great.
'Cause you fight to save lives but won't kill and don't get the job done,
I mean, you probably could have avoided all this had you just killed my son,
But no "
Alright so, the first two lines I feel like this is Tachibana criticising Shikishima for taking the role that's known for saving their people and being heroic (hence the false righteousness) but failing to protect those on the island because he couldn't do "one simple thing" per se, and pull the trigger on the guns aiming at Godzilla. And of course the worst kind of good not being great ties into what I talked about him seemingly taking up this role and not being able to save those Tachibana cares about.
The third line sort of ties into what I've just explained about with Shikishima being a pilot in WW2 but failing to kill Godzilla, and the last part is pretty self explanatory, replacing the 'my son' part with him talking about his crew again.
This whole verse could perhaps refer to him being a Kamikaze pilot too and taking a dig at him surviving the war, even if it does kind of make Tachibana a hypocrite by then.
" You are far too nice, mercy has a price
It's the final crack, we're bound to break the ice now
You reveal your name, then you let him live
Unlike you, I've got no mercy left to give 'cause "
I feel like the "you are far too nice" could perhaps be a hint of sarcasm, followed by mercy being mentioned, which solidifies the idea of Tachibana thinking it was Shikishima's choice not to kill Godzilla rather than the truth of his hands freezing up. I feel like he's too clouded by his frustration and anger of losing those he cared about to consider that Shikishima didn't choose this. Or maybe he's too filled with anger/hatred to care in this case. The more he thinks of such a thing, the angrier he gets, so he tends to push it out of his mind until this scene.
" And now it is finally time to say goodbye, today you die
Unless, of course, you apologize
For my son's pain and all his cries
Poseidon, we meant no harm
We only hurt him to disarm him
We took no pleasure in his pain
We only wanted to escape "
[ N/A - No analysis other than what I've already spoken about. Perhaps the part about him only wanting to escape but thats about it ]
" The line between naïveté and hopefulness is almost invisible
So close your heart, the world is dark and
Ruthlessness is mercy
Die. "
With the thought of Tachibana still thinking that Shikishima had a choice, the first line possibly could refer to it's niave to inflict mercy on ruthless creatures such as Godzilla, because it won't get him anywhere. The hope that Godzilla will take any mercy is naive. And of course, the second one is enforcing the first line, telling Shikishima that the world is a dark place that doesn't take kindly to mercy. I feel like in terms of the last line of "Die," Tachibana would actually want to kill Shikishima in that moment to avenge his friends. I mean, we see in that scene where he gives over the letter, and his anger surfaces how he attacks Shikishima. We also know how far people can go when placed in a stressful setting whilst filled with anger and hatred for a certain person who has wronged you as much.
What have you done?
When does a ripple become a tidal wave?
43 left under your command
When does man become a monster?
I am your darkest moment
The monster that always draws near
Any last words? "
Last but not least, the final verse I am going to analyse. (Yippee!!!)
Now I see a ripple becoming a tidal wave as Godzilla surviving Odo Island and then causing distruction another few times. One event which went wrong turned into a bunch of them occurring. Last but not least, I feel like for the 'when does a man become a monster?' Up to 'The monster that always draws near' instead of Tachibana saying these lines, it's Shikishima's survivor's guilt surfacing as he reflects on what he's done and how he believes he's handles everything. It makes him beg the question of does he even deserve to live at this point? Is he part of the problem and the true monster who has been a catalyst for these events, no matter how much he's tried to stop it - seeing as it follows HIM around?
Finally I feel like the final part is him getting ready to take his revenge.
For the last few lines thats left of the song, honestly doesnt fit in my humble opinion so I shall not include them :3
Extra;
Setting/Time: I think in my mind, this argument with Tachibana arguing with Shikishima during the scene when Shikishima finds Tachibana and Tachibana has seen the letters and is visibly furious about this. It would explain his anger filled explanation and his desire to just get rid of "the root of his problem". Plus he was intentions angering Shikishima in order for Shikishima to actually find him, which would fuel his rage even more!
A quite note that I am taking this from the perspective of Godzilla being a real, tangible creature. I know in the movie he's meant to represent survivor's guilt but I feel like this whole analysis above would make a tiny bit more sense if he really was a real creature. I dunno,
Tumblr media
That's all for now! I'm just cramming my thoughts into this one post X3 They don't call it Cherrydrop rambles for nothing!! I've honestly had this concept in my head for a while now and as much as Id love to make this into an animatic, I dont have the time nor motivation for it. However, hope you've enjoyed reading through this chaotic post, and gold star if you did! :3

DS9 Rarepair Week: Love Languages / Affection
“I just don’t know what to buy for him,” Quark said.
The staff of Deep Space Nine were all squeezed in around the usual table. For once, Quark had left the job of bartender to Rom and gone over to join them.
“You know you don’t have to get him anything,” O’Brien replied, for what might have been the third or fourth time. “He’s not Ferengi.”
“I know he’s not Ferengi,” Quark snapped back. “Otherwise I could give him a bar of gold-pressed latinum and he’d know exactly how I feel about him.”
“A whole bar?” Dax said, smiling. “You have got it bad.”
“You could fight his enemies for him,” Worf said, seated to her left.
“He’s not Klingon either,” Dax said.
“He may still have enemies.”
“And Quark’s not exactly the best at fighting,” O’Brien put in.
Worf acknowledged the point with a nod.
“What do hoo-mans do?” Quark asked. “To show that they care about each other.”
“They spend quality time together,” O’Brien said.
“I already spend all my time with him,” Quark said. “He's at the bar every day. There isn't a day I don't see him.”
“Or a night,” Odo growled. “The things I’ve had to hear…”
“You chose that room,” Quark said. “You could move. I’ve had to hear you –”
“Where is Morn, anyway?” Bashir interrupted. “It’s all very quiet without him.”
“Meeting up with an old friend at the Replimat,” Quark said, glancing that way with an unusual expression of anxiety. “Do you think they’re talking about me?”
“Of course,” Kira said. “What could they possibly have to talk about that’s more interesting than you?”
“Bajoran traditions,” Quark said, turning to her. “What do Bajorans do?”
Kira’s face grew wistful. “There’s an old tradition of hiring a poet,” she said. “They would go to your loved one and tell them in traditional verse how you feel. But it mostly died out during the Occupation.”
“Maybe someone should bring the tradition back,” Odo said softly.
“I don’t think Morn would like a Bajoran love poem,” Bashir said, entirely unaware of the moment he had just interrupted.
“What did he do for you to tell you he loved you?” Sisko asked.
“It’s Morn,” Quark said. “What do you think? He talked my lobes off for about an hour. Couldn’t get a word in edgeways.”
In fact, the passionate and romantic speech that Morn had given him was one of the most treasured memories of Quark’s life. With the help of the bar’s security network, he had rewatched it several times, and there were some passages he was close to knowing off by heart. But it would have taken the Divine Treasury’s worth of latinum to get him to admit it.
“There’s your answer, then,” O’Brien said. “You just have to tell him. Like he told you.”
“It’s not that easy,” Quark protested. How could he possibly match the beauty of what Morn had said to him?
“But it’s worth it,” Sisko said, and he and Dax shared a smile.
“Faint heart never won fair Lurian,” Bashir said.
“You’ve won him already,” O’Brien said. “Now you just have to work at keeping him.”
“You can do it,” Kira said.
“All right!” Quark exclaimed. “I’ll talk to him.”
Perhaps it was time to watch that security footage again. Just to get some ideas.

Thanks for the tag @envexenveritas. Saved it for the weekend when I had a bit more time and brainspace:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
88
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
481,422 (Damn, if I wrote this much on my original fic, I could have a second novel done by now)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, Doctor Who/Big Finish and Holby. In the past I've written for Star Trek: the Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space, and I went through an intense Law and Order: Criminal Intent period in college.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The World Has No Place In Our Bed: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood. You all love a fake marriage fic!
So Then This Happened: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood PWP. There are things I'd change about the writing in this, but I guess you all like it!
Empty Spaces: Star Trek: the Next Generation, I looked at the whole Lal situation and decided to make it worse. People love being sad about Data, and who am I not to oblige?
Ghosts in the Machine: Doctor Who, TARDIS POV. One of my earliest fics and I still love writing her POV.
I Know My Sister Like I Know My Own Mind: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood with Bonnie as the wingman. This was a fun one to write that I still have a soft spot for but kind of surprised to see it crack the top 5!
I do think it's very interesting how this differs when compared to comments. There's definitely a bias toward fluff for kudos (even the sad Data story ends on a hopeful note), while I get more comments on angst. (And I tend to get the BEST and most detailed comments on my absolutely unhinged stuff.)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! But I try to give it at least a week before I respond. If I respond to one right away, then I'll feel guilty for not responding to others right away, and then it starts to feel like a responsibility rather than a fun interchange of ideas and gratitude, and I don't want it to feel like that! Anyway, that's more info than you needed about my OCD but that is why I take awhile to respond. I do adore comments and often reread them when I am feeling down.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm, I have been trending towards endings with a tinge of hope, so even though Two Birds in A Cage may be my darkest fic overall, I don't think it wins this. In my Osgood Must Suffer verse, Nor Yet Favor to Women of Skill ends in a really dark place with Osgood totally brainwashed, yet the sequel It's True the Girl They Speak of Died sees her reaching for recovery. Similarly, in the Modern U.N.I.T Infernoverse, The Pieces That Get Sacrificed ends on a dark note, but Chess sees the promise of working towards a better self.
I think we have to reach back to some of my earlier, more edgelordy work, like Snuggle for LO:CI, which is just an autopsy of the two main characters, or Goodbye to Ugly Words and Yesterday and Everyone You Knew and Were, which sees Odo losing every bit of his hard-fought individuality and identity. Oh, or Vermin in the Lower Zoo, my AU of an evil First Doctor, that's a pretty dark ending.
Oh, wait, no Plaything, my AU of Pyramids of Sutekh where I slowly strip away everything the Fourth Doctor loves. Oh wait, no, final answer: Careful the Wish You Make: Wishes Are Children, in which I do the same thing to Sarah Jane, but worse.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm, what makes an ending happier, the overall level of happiness or the contrast to the sadness or pain earlier in the story? I think this question is going for the former, so I'll say either Come to Me Softly, Come to Me Sweetly or The Completely True and Canon Story of Oswin Oswald Seduced Jo Grant, or Jo Seduced Her, or Something.
(Or if you want *waggles eyebrows* happy endings, maybe Respectful Discourse on Power Dynamics in the Workplace?)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really! I feel like I've maybe got one or two mean comments on a fic on FF.Net over the years, but nothing memorable. Edit: oh, I remember! One person got sooooo mad at my characterization of Goren and Eames in Give and Take. Sorry, buddy, people are going to have different opinions about characters than you and write porn about it!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Fuck yes I write smut. It's one of the great joys of my life. I write predominantly F/F these days, though I've written quite a bit of of F/M, and a sprinkling of threesomes. I've made liberal use of the BDSM tag, and I like things that play with power dynamics and trust.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
A few! One of my first fics was a cracky crossover, The Good Ship [Name of Ship]. I also did a LO:CI/X-Files crossover so Eames and Scully could have sex. It's not my favorite genre, but I'll do it for humor and/or smut.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of, but it would be a great honor!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really, but The Good Ship [Name of Ship] was written with the input of my best friend from high school, and she (with her fanfic author name) and some of her favorite characters do star in it. This is an important developmental stage for teen fic authors and I refuse to be embarrassed about it.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Impossible to choose. But have this handy summation:
Picard/Crusher, Odo/Kira, The Doctor/Sarah Jane, Bernie Wolfe/Serena Campbell: these ships changed me as a person and filled my heart to overflowing with yearning, making me believe in love across time and space and alternate universes
Kate Stewart/Osgood: I want the older authoritative one to top the shy nerdy one. A lot.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I am fully committed to eventually finishing every WIP. That said, it has been over a decade since I updated Loyalty's Price and that one has some intense worldbuilding that I would have to recall or rebuild from scratch, so uh, don't hold your breath for any updates soon.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel good about my ability to replicate character voice and to situate emotions in the body as physical sensations.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My god, the amount of times characters speak hesitantly, as if their words are testing a fragile sheet of ice, or touch each other carefully, as if the other is wet paper that might tear, or a dozen other metaphors that my brain has just decided to go to constantly. You absolutely see this with published authors all the time so I don't feel bad about it, though, just amused at my dramatic-ass self.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not something that's come up a lot for me, but I would treat it the same as using another language in original work--seek out a real human to proofread, offer something in exchange for their time.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
My first fic was a Star Trek: Nemesis fix-it fic written in a spiral notebook in high school.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
This changes all the time depending on what mood I'm in, but right now I quite like Chess.
Tagging @ktlsyrtis and @bonnissance if you're up for it!

Here are my next gen book club headcanons:
When Data gets to choose a book for the group to read, he takes it very seriously. He takes into account the tastes of people who frequent the group and tries to pick a book that will be liked by a majority. He also looks for books that would be thought provoking and encourage discussion amongst the group. That said, he is a big fan of the "no plot, just vibes" genre. His latest pick was In Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan.
Deanna Troi is also a big fan of "no plot, just vibes" because of the emotional aspect of it. It can be easy for her to get caught up in all the emotions of the books, so she does try to arrange her current reads so that they won't exacerbate any negative emotions she might be feeling at the time. The first books to come to mind for her are Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler, or The Pisces by Melissa Broder.
William Riker's taste in literature is all red flags. He is not a red flag, and his taste in books doesn't necessarily make him a red flag when you view it in the context of the rest of him, but if it was viewed independently it would be concerning. Absolutely the kind of person to suggest Fight Club to the book club and then use it as a chance to discuss the toxicity of men. He definitely reads Murakami, Palahniuk (I think his favorite of Palahniuk's novels would be Diary, which I might be saying because it's my favorite, but that's not important), Catcher in the Rye, Clockwork Orange, but *also* Ottessa Moshfegh, which is a holdover from when he was dating Deanna and would read books with her. He would not read bukowski because he's actually a decent man.
Where do I even start with Picard? He reads everything. He prefers more serious works, he likes screenplays, he loves a good classic, but he will read anything, especially if a friend has recommended it (especially if that friend is Data). He would show up to the book club meeting where he gets to pick a book and excitedly tell the other members that his choice is the complete works of Emily Dickinson, or The Importance of Being Earnest, or a work of Shakespeare's. He has a soft spot for Hamlet as the actor who portrayed him in a show he saw when he was young was his bi awakening.
I've said it before and I will say it again, Geordi reads poetry. He prefers longer form, free verse poetry but will read anything, and finds it especially interesting to read the poems containing political commentary from centuries gone by. He very much enjoyed Picard's suggestion of Shakespeare's sonnets. His most recent choice was Helium by Rudy Francisco.
Worf is a man who reads books about world war two. Not the twenty fourth century equivalent of that. Specifically world war two. His adopted father was probably the same way and they bonded over a shared enjoyment of these books. He can branch out from that genre if pushed, and also enjoys the work of Erik Larson. Also, unlike Odo, he's not the kind of man who reads exclusively non fiction. His world war two books can be real or imagined and he loves them the same. He is not a fan of "no plot, just vibes."
Q has all the time in the universe to read whatever he wants, but he likes trashy, quickly written novels the best. Think, the kind of thing you could get as a mass market paperback at a grocery store, or something that was hurriedly made into a made for TV movie. He attends every book club meeting, much to Picard's disdain, and has insisted that, as one of the most dedicated members, he gets to choose books sometimes. He's working on making the crew read through the entire pretty little liars series and he's very proud of his work thus far. He delights in seeing Picard point out all the flaws and Chekhov's guns in the texts. The crew is unsure of whether Q genuinely likes the books or just revels in the suffering of the rest of them. The answer is yes. He also likes to bring up controversial discussions such as separating the art from the artist, but each time he bases his opinion on the matter on what the most people will disagree with, or what the loudest people will disagree with. He compares each of Picard's choices to Twilight and has surprisingly valid points.
Wesley reads the Warrior Cats series. I will not elaborate further.
Beverly doesn't do a lot of reading, and, when she does read, they tend to be best sellers that have a lot of hype surrounding them. It's not that she doesn't like to read, it's just that she doesn't have a lot of free time and tends to prioritize other things.

(New) Canon Asexual Poll Lineup
Hello folks, new host here taking over to get this tournament on the road. I can't edit the older posts, so here's a reminder/update on the current lineup. I've personally decided to break up characters from the same series which is a slight difference from the previous lineup. Hopefully it makes for a more rounded out lineup!
Nominations are closed. Each approved character now has a live interest poll post linked to their name to determine seeding. There are 2 answers, one for liking the character (+1 point towards seeding), and one for liking them & finding their asexual rep in canon significant (+2 points towards seeding). These posts will also be used for collecting propaganda for each character.
Approved Nominated Characters:
Lilith Clawthrone from The Owl House
SpongeBob SquarePants (aro/ace)
Todd Chavez from Bojack Horseman (allo/ace)
Maya from Borderlands
Jughead Jones from Archie Comics (non-SAM asexual, aro/ace)
Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb
The Professor from Gilligan's Island
Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls (aro/ace)
Luffy from One Piece
Peridot from Steven Universe (aro/ace)
Kale Romero (aro/ace) from Monster Prom
Coach (allo/ace) from Monster Prom
Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives (bi/ace)
Anthony Drake/Argent Adept from Sentinels of the Multiverse (aro/ace)
Jody Marsh/Runner Four from Zombies, Run! (non-SAM(?) asexual)

Count Orlo from The Great
Caduceus Clay from Critical Roll
Isaac Henderson from Heartstopper (aro/ace)
Isaac M Rydle from Val and Isaac (aro/ace)
Twitch "Lore" Woodwind from Val and Isaac (aro/ace)
Diane/Artemis from Lumberjanes (allo/ace)
Ca$h Piggott from Heartbreak High (allo/ace)
Nellie from Rain (homoromantic/ace)
Alex from AJ & Magnus
Mousefur from Warrior Cats
Disqualified Characters
Mishandled by creators:
Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. The writers see his asexuality as a problem he needs to fix.
Alastor from that one hotel show. He's an aro/ace serial killer, and when his creator heard about how a-spec fans were upset about people erasing his orientations to ship and sexualize him she encouraged it.
Lack of evidence:
Odo from Star Trek. (All I found when I looked for proof was headcanons. Disqualified because he's canonically shown sexual attraction.)
Carpenter Glass from The Silt Verses ("Up for interpretation" usually means that they don't want to shut down headcanons but don't intend to write the character that way intentionally or follow through on it)
Klaus from Spy Classroom (he is canonically aromantic, but I could find no canon proof that he is asexual as well)
Patty O'Connor from Kevin Can F**k Himself (writers leave her sexuality ambiguous on purpose as the story is written as her figuring out her identity without ever having her land on what it is)

My Intro Post!!
Tumblr media
Hi, welcome to my blog!
I like Star Trek and drawing Star Trek art.
I want to make more friends on Tumblr, and if you'd like to know more about me, look under this cut!
My name is Jack, but you can call me whatever else you feel like. I go by he/him. I have autism, so if I accidentally encroach on a social rule, give me some grace and make me aware.
Most of my art is centered around my favorite ship Jackshir. I really like coming up with rarepairs, and it's not my only one, but it's my central one. I'm also a really big fan of Rom/Leeta, Garashir, Spirk (who isn't), Chahura, Lon/Tuvok, Quark/Odo, Geordi/Data, Mariner/Jennifer etcetera. Really I'm a fan of most Star Trek ships. I think it's really fun to imagine different characters in relationships.
I started watching Star Trek in 2021, and in that time I've finished these series:
The Original Series
The Next Generation
Deep Space 9
Lower Decks
I'm currently on season 3 of Voyager.
While I love Star Trek, it's not the only thing I'm interested in. Some other things I like are:
Spore (the game)
Moths
Doll collecting
Plague history/plague doctors
Astrophysics
Biochemistry
Genetics
Classic lit
I'm not fully versed in all these subjects even though I do really like them, so forgive me if I mess up facts about them or don't have a fully rounded view of them all.
Jack is my favorite character, I think he's really underappreciated, so here's a section in my about me dedicated to him and why I like him. I related to Jack heavily, I see a lot of my traits reflected in him and find comfort seeing a character similar to me. A central part to what makes a character likeable is seeing emotional similarities in them, allowing for catharsis in the viewer. I find these similarities in Jack. He's a good place for me to place my more irrational thoughts, into a little contained pod of a character. I've been focused on Jack since about February 2022. In this time I've watched Statistical Probabilities and Chrysalis over 100 times combined, read nearly every fanfiction involving the members of the Jack Pack, and read every official novel/short story containing them with the exception of the Typhon Pact books past the first and the Section 31 novels. I've also photo-scanned the pages of the DS9 Companion and the DS9 Technical handbook pertaining to the Jack Pack. My sketchbook is full of portrait art of Jack. My inner voice sounds like Jack most of the time. Not only do I find emotional catharsis (also the name of a song I heavily associate with Jack btw) in Jack, I also find him a motivating character for me. Whenever I feel like not doing work or self-improvement, I think about Jack and I find a new eagerness to power through whatever I might be hung up on. I also find a sense of confidence from him. Since I view genetic engineering (in the episode of Statistical Probabilities and Chrysalis at the very least) as an allegory for autism, when Jack talks about finding pride in his genetic identity I can draw a sort of pride in my autism from that as well.
Okay, thank you for reading! If you want some of my other socials, I have a Twitter, a Discord server, and my own personal website.

📖 any aus you've got, hand em over
Send me 📖 (or "book") to hear about a potential alternate verse for my muse!
Since Rex is more a sci-fi/superhero character it seems like an odd crossover, but I just love Dungeon Meshi a lot and I'd like to think he'd get along with the cast in a crossover where he appears in the dungeon. Cooking together, watching the monsters/animals doing their thing... (Maybe the robots from Pluto too, albeit for different reasons).
A mishmash of little daydreams where Rex time travels to the gold/silver/bronze/etc. ages of comic books to meet the older generations in their prime.
I did also have an idea for a Star Trek (DS9) episode where Rex (with a retooled background to fit Trek) was on trial and strikes a chord with Odo and/or Data perhaps in the process of proving he acted in self-defense and to fend off allegations that he was a spy or an attacking invasion scout.
