thank you!! i don't really make psds since i pretty much only gif in b&w but when i need to gif something pale i always use these from the great @odairannies, my favourite is the lyanna stark one!

for editing tips, here you can find my sharpening settings + grain filter.

other than that, the main thing i do is adding brightness/contrast layers, sometimes even exposure and selective color to increase the blacks! every gif is different to be honest, even the same scene can have different shots with different lights and you need to tweak the layers and see what works best for you!

AITA for wishing my mother made me feel like she cared about me?

If anybody does come across this, then please read it and share your opinions with me because it would be nice to feel like I'm being supported. (I also alphabetically tagged a bunch of random people because I'm in need of advice, and the more opinions on the matter, the better. As I really feel like I might just be being a brat).

This is probably going to be really long (so long in fact that I've turned up my phone's volume so I can hear the soothing little tip-tapping of the keyboard as I type).

So I got my hair re-dyed yesterday, as it was in a really bad state in terms of the colour and the general shabby-ness. I'm not going to show you pictures as I don't want anyone to know who I am.

So, in short, it's now a mess. It fades from brown to blonde, which is what I wanted, but it's so uneven. The front pieces of my hair are drastically different in terms of where the brown fades into the blonde, and the back looks like New York's skyline (if that makes any sense).

So, I came home in tears and my parents told me that it was nowhere near as bad as I was saying it was. I held a ruler up to my face, just to illustrate how uneven it was, and they looked at the pictures and acted like I was insane.

In the photo above, you can see the ruler that I held up at the front of my face. I aligned the ruler with where the brown started to fade into blonde (on the left side). I made sure to align it with the point that was the lowest down my hair (to illustrate just how uneven the colouring was).

On the right side, there is a green line. That green line is where the brown begins to fade into the blonde.

You can clearly see that those two points are nowhere near each-other whatsoever.

My parents have looked at this photo, among others, and have come to the conclusion that my hair is perfectly fine and I am just being stupid..

Bearing in mind that any re-dying/fixing would be paid for out of my own pocket, all I have asked for (from my mother specifically) is the reassurance that we will look into getting it rectified before the end of the summer.

That is a completely fair thing to ask for.

But all she has to say is that she doesn't think there is anything wrong with my hair. She won't say anything other than "stop going on about it" and, "it's nowhere near as bad as you think".

...

All I'm asking for from her is some reassurance and some kindness, but tonight she sat and rolled her eyes and pulled stupid faces until all the veins in her neck were literally popping.

She's making me feel like she doesn't care about my feelings at all. Shouldn't a mother who cares about you, offer you support when you're upset (even if she thinks you have no reason to be)?

It just makes me feel sad, because I already don't want to affiliate with my brother when I move out and I feel that (the multitude of) instances like this one will lead to me not talking to my parents either.

I think it's the Sleeping Beauty one, but I deleted/ajusted some layers and added a saturation layer (blue -100) at the top of it to have that grey effect. Hope this is helpful, have a nice day ❤️
