Hey, Khushi. I just wanted to say that Marlene and Vasili reminds me of a Lana Del Rey song. Chemtrails Over The Country Club. It sounds melancholic and tragic that somewhat fits the two of them.

My little sister once said to me that if they had enough time, or lived long enough, something would’ve sparked between them for sure. Then she said maybe it would’ve been unrequited for Vasili due to Marlene’s fear to love another unconditionally again. She lost a lot. They’re two characters that have two horrible fates after a long run. What they needed was more time. :’)

Okay, first of all Sheena.. do you think I'd ever have a good day.. or a good night? AFTER DROPPING THIS VERY ANGST ON OUR BELOVED OC'S?

Like, honestly I am not supposed to think about it, but as your sister says.. they would have been a great couple if it weren't for their pasts to interfere. They had so much less time.. and it's the only thing that hurts. The song adds more salt to the fire *sniff*

Vasili's problem was the brainwashing that didn't even allow him to communicate with Marlene better. And Marlene who feared that if she loved like she used to before, would later on lose it again, as if she never deserved it in the first place. Both of them represent the "unrequited love" trope and for some reason, it kind of intrigued me!

God, I must say.. your sister is making me love this duo of Vasili and Marlene more, LIKE WOW. So much can be developed on them if they ever get over their horrible pasts *cries*

Hi pookie! Since you mentioned Marlene’s mom getting it down with Captain Goofy (Oz), can we get more information on her? No pressure though! I’ve never really developed a ship before 👀

Heyo! It’s no pressure, I’ve always wanted to talk about Melissa Monroe, but never got the chance yet! She’ll make her appearance in the story eventually.

Melissa was born on March 17, 1986. Daughter of Alexandra Monroe, no father involved in her life as well, and the youngest of six daughters. She had a twin, but she died in a freak accident at 10.

Befriended David Mason as a young child and they were close as peas before moving away.

Had a similar childhood to Marlene, getting trained from a very young age, except her mom was a complete hard ass to her. Heavy complex relationships among the Monroe family was definitely one of the generational traditions. Her sisters say she and her twin, Madeleine, were their mother’s favourites.

Melissa felt like a lot of things came a lot being a favourite.

Probably the shortest next to her mother in the Monroe bloodline. Estimably around 5’7” tall. Yeah, her sisters are taller than her. She has fair skin, long light brown hair and the lightest brown eyes that reminds people of honey.

She was close friends with Phillip Graves growing up when they moved to his hometown, well, more like her older sister did before she stumbled upon their friendship. Their mom and the eldest sister were the only members that greatly disliked him.

Her mother scared Phillip a lot.

Melissa was once a lively, good-natured, and rebellious child before reality hit her when Madeleine passed.

Of course, rumours spread that Phillip fathered her only child. Quickly debunked by the entire family that she was just sixteen when Melisa was pregnant with Marlene whilst Phillip was much older than that and enlisted in the military at the time. They were close, but not that close.

Other than her brief backstory. Melissa is just an emotionally constipated mother who just allegedly lost her only child while she was away, unable to help Marlene with her grief and instability before the TF141 took her into custody, and has been filled with constant regret since then.

A tough fighter, whole lot meaner than Marlene, and did a lot of things most people wouldn’t want to do. She taught Marlene to be ruthless when needed to be, so just imagine her twice as ruthless compared to her daughter.

Once killed somebody with a fork.

Melissa is a loving and fierce mother with the habit of being extremely overprotective. Just imagine what she’d do if something happened to Marlene. This will be shown in the later chapters… 👀

Calm and reserved: Despite having her moments of being a spitfire, she is actually a well composed individual and this really helps her in matters of survival. Although pretty social sometimes, then she can be completely asocial, Marlene is not exactly the kind of person who wouldn't instantly show her actual personality to others whom she'd just met. She handles stressful situations with the pressure very well most of time.

Selfless and loyal: Marlene may be an impassive and hardened young woman, but she has a good soul and heart. Those who are lucky to be a genuine friend of hers are privileged to see her display her true self at most times. Has the tendency to put others before herself. Marlene's love language is giving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch- which the latter is a rare thing of her to do frequently as a young adult now. Keeps it discreet though.

Tough as nails: She is unbelievably durable and endures a lot of life-threatening situations. Often gets underestimated by others, but tends to straighten them up with a surprise. She grew up with tough love and Melissa, her mother, was fiercely overprotective with her only child. Once they settled somewhere in California when she was eight where Marlene finally got enrolled in a public school where her peers would eventually learn about her intellect. She never knew how, or where, her mother earned her huge incomes to financially support themselves, but knows Melissa just has an every important job whenever she isn't home. Besides, whenever her mother was confronted, she was just met with a firm look by her and the woman stating that it's none of her concern as Marlene should just focus on herself. Eventually this led to her rebellious behaviour before incidents occurred and slowly shaped Marlene into a withdrawn teenager in college."

"Her history with Taskforce 141 was purely platonic. Met them through her mother, one by one when she was an teenager, before the group realized she was Melissa's baby girl and they all knew the same woman who met each of them outside of their occupations. She've met Phillip Graves when she was a kid when he came by to confront her mother before a father-daughter bond was formed between them since then. She kept denying the accusations and evidence for weeks until Graves, allegedly dead at the time, safely liberated her despite Marlene being in a frail condition with the help from David Mason and proof that she was truly innocent. Someone had framed her."

"Then not too long hours after she was brought into his protective custody, no one knew who helped her other than the fact that she escaped CIA's custody, as one of The Shadow Company's bases was attacked. Mostly everyone made it out, but Marlene who was soon announced dead after she passed out from the blood loss with the base getting bombed into nothing once they were forced to leave her behind. Leaving Graves and David angry, distraught, and vowed to avenge her once they find the culprits. Her remains were never found after that."

Marlene knocking the shit out of Vasili/Vincent at first sight during her “fight or flight” mode. She’s on autopilot and offence-mode. My sister had the audacity to message me these memes. (ノ‥ )ノ:

Overall past that, I think she’ll be indifferent and impassive, maybe a bit sarcastic, for a long while if they meet more than one time. But she’ll appreciate his quiet nature once realizing he’s kind of a mute and silent communication works for her most of the time. Marlene stopped being a talkative and social person from her recent traumas, but she’s still expressive and openly voices her opinions, uncaring if she comes across blunt or not. She’s emotionally constipated.

After proceeding to subdue him during a fight and knocking him down near an edge of a building, but tied his ankle with a wire so Vincent doesn’t fall down to his death.

“Hang in there, maybe you’ll get a chance to take me down next time. You’re good, really, but something’s holding you back.” She tapped his boot before walking off. “Maybe don’t hold back next time. I’d prefer when you’re not.” Yeah, Marlene’s humour is a bit broken and likes to poke at others for their reaction sometimes. 🥲

And she unintentionally tends to gives out mixed signals too.

Marlene knocking the shit out of Vasili meanwhile he's internally screaming like, "WHAT DID I DO?!"

Overall, Vasili might find it hard to go through Marlene's feelings, since she had emotionally blocked herself from everyone, but at the same time, Marlene noticed Vasili too who can't just speak about anything either, nor the things he has in his mind, because of the mental impact of the brainwashing that affected his urge to speak. Complicated situation, eh?

Oh god, the way Vasili's heart would have almost stopped beating if it weren't for Marlene's immediate action to tie his ankle down. For some reason, he appreciates the woman's courage and strength, along with the way she deals with anybody that comes through her way and gets the job done, like how she dealt with Bell. I am pretty sure he'll have a hard time understanding Marlene's humour but let it go, somehow. As long as they grow close, maybe he will! 🤣

She somehow got time travelled to the early 80s, it’ll be explained in the story soon, and just surviving. So I think these two would meet during a chase. Knowing Marlene, she absolutely matches somewhere around Bell's personality as well! If you think about it, she's reserved, intelligent, and knows what should be done, in the same way Vasili is. Communication is what makes the person know what the other feels, but it'll be hard for her to understand Vasili's thoughts because he cannot seem to grow the urge to speak, because of the brainwashing done by the MACV-SOG, that mentally blocked him. I wondered in what ways, Marlene might help Vasili break through his silence and get to know about everything she's unaware of?
