Day five of trying how to draw (sketch) the Veteran Ranger helmet (and outfit). And now while I mostly am satisfied with how I can draw it already, the lighting, shadows etc needs to be practiced.

I decided to continue to do it due to being extremely bored.

This is Jaxon in the Commonwealth, he had gone to a long journey to find himself in Boston in 2287. He finds this place a little too cold for his liking but other than that so far he really enjoys exploring the area.

if anyone asks I knew what nuanced meant when i got this..

I debated for a while whether to talk about Dylan and Logan or Leo and Jaxon and I decided on Jax and Leo (and elliot sort of) since the other one is a bit spoilery

i am going to ramble i'm sorry in advance

So aside from the obvious flower symbolism, I use a lot of color symbolism for the characters as well. which I hardly ever talk about. Leo's is red, Jaxon's is blue. So now I have my legally obligated Red Themed Character vs Blue Themed character as well as Elliot's color being purple.

Forget me not is divided into three parts, Leo is part one, Jaxon is part two, and Elliot is part three. So now it's red + blue = purple.

dahlia and rosemary don't have the same sort of symbolism like that lmao. that's mostly because I didn't piece it together until a few weeks ago

While Jaxon's theme color is blue, his canonical favorite color is yellow. Leo's is still red. This makes orange, Sam's color. Jax's flower is a (blue specifically) zinnia, Leo's is a black rose. Blue + black would be a sort of navy blue color, for Ryan

Because the foundation of Jax and Leo's friendship was always Leo's brothers. Leo is looking for them when the two meet, Jaxon finds Elliot, Leo finds Sam and Ryan. Almost all of Jaxon's interactions in part two revolve around the triplets- his first scene in part two is with Elliot, the next chapter is with Sam, and chapters 17 and 18 are with Ryan. The chapters he spends with Ryan he also has a scene with Leo. Every chapter with Leo and one of their brothers, Jaxon is either in it or he's mentioned. So the triplets are important to their relationship together etc etc

I actually didn't realize that they started fighting IN forget me not during the last 5 chapters until I needed to reference something the other day. Jaxon is in charge of Elliot for a few hours and when he loses track of him Elliot runs away Lily finds him Leo gets mad at him. (originally jaxon was trying to lose elliot on purpose, leo was going to guess it, and was going to spend dahlia trying to prove it, which was the original reason for jax pushing her)

When Elliot """dies""" at the end (fakeout death #1) is when they start to Actually fight. Leo's mad at Jaxon for letting Elliot outside in the first place, and because he gets back to normal Very quickly (a lie) Jaxon on the other hand isn't mad at Leo, he mostly wants to give her space to calm down and Stop Yelling at Him tm, except unfortunately they're both very easy to provoke. That's a main personality trait for Leo and it's hinted at to be a character trait for Jaxon (mostly in chapter 17 when he almost breaks a carnival game because the clown makes fun of him and when he yells at the kids who pushed Ryan into the lake, it's also mentioned by Logan that he got in fights on his sibling's behalf often) so when Leo starts an argument, Jaxon Will argue back. I kept most of their early arguments vague to give the big one more impact. Because of how close they were in forget me not, they know exactly how to annoy the other in dahlia

The big fight in question is at the end of chapter two, in which Leo does her whole "idk how to handle this situation so I'm out of here bye idiots" because her fatal flaw is that she's chronically unreliable and Will leave and Jax is obviously like "excuse me wtf you can't just. do that" because HIS fatal flaw is that he's loyal and will Not leave and so they fight in the garden (which is sort of important because that's where dylan and cass met and arranged for the groups to meet in the first place) (and i couldn't have them fight in the library. the librarian would get mad) and Leo has him in terms of physical strength so she leaves at the end of it, with Ryan, who was watching

That was April 2019, they don't meet up again until June 2020, so about a full year and two months later. That part where Dylan kidnaps a comatose child and preforms necromancy on him and then they, Ryan, and Ryan's cat get possessed. In Leo's house where she lives. Leo calls Logan in a very "will you please come pick up your kid they are biting me" manner so the others go back to meet up with Leo who is miraculously not possessed (she would win in a fight between herself and three 12 year olds)

Leo and Jaxon's friendship in that particular arc is "I don't want to get possessed and YOU don't want to get possessed so let's briefly not kill each other" Kai and Marcy peace the fuck out of there very fast, Logan is taken out by Dylan first because, then Lily is gotten by Dylan, and Cass by Elliot (something something dylan only attacked their siblings but that's a post for another day) and so then all that's left is Leo, Jaxon, and Sam

Leo gets cornered by Cass and Lily, and Jaxon. leaves. He takes Sam and runs and then Sam is like "hey asshole maybe DON'T do that???" so Jax feels bad and goes back for Leo and then when he gets back to where he left Sam, Sam is gone.

So NOW Leo's mad because ONE he just left her to get mauled to death and TWO now she lost Sam in a building full of possessed children Out For Blood. Jaxon is still mad about the first fight. They go up to the roof because that's the closest area to where Jaxon left Sam and he might've hidden up there.

Halfway up the stairs, they start arguing again. Jaxon's upset because Leo is talking about the others like they're dead and she's being very dismissive about it, and wasn't what she meant but it was how he took it. Leo gets defensive, and now Jax is Going For the Kill. Physical fight Leo wins because she's just stronger than him and is 17 and he's like 15 but in terms of their magic, Leo isn't as good at long range attacks with fire, but Jaxon is better at long range attacks with electricity, so he wins the second one. heavy quotations there lol. what ACTUALLY wins is the force of gravity. Leo loses the fight with Being Alive

and then there's more in rosemary for them but since I haven't finished writing this i don't know what I'll end up taking out yet

this doesnt make sense canonically for like either of them, like theres no way Jax doesn't know about Eric, also Eric's existence implies Jaxon let someone (Eric's mom) get close enough to Bob to have said child without biting their throat out. ALSO Bob doesn't die in Jaxon's timeline so..

Whatever, this was fun either way. I like the idea of them meeting and having a sort of Pearl and Steven relationship.

Happy Birthday!

Ah...thanks.

You look nice! It's not often we see you dressed in white.

For good reason. It's not my color. I much prefer darker clothes, but apparently you have to dress like this if it's your birthday.

Is someone making you wear it?

Not exactly. If I was being forced, I simply wouldn't do it. But...Riddle and Deuce were hounding me about it being necessary for my birthday.

So you wore it for them?

...

I wore it so they'd stop hounding me about it. Clothes hardly matter to me anyway. I could wear scraps and I'd be fine.

But doesn't it feel nice to be dressed for your birthday?

I've never particularly cared for my birthday. It might as well just be a normal day.

Do you normally not celebrate your birthday?

No. I've never seen much of a point to it. Though I usually don't have people who want to celebrate it with me either. Even when I was younger, my birthday was never a big deal.

I would've thought Crowley would've thrown a big party for you.

When I was really young, he did. Though the parties got smaller as the years went by. Can't say I mind it too much.

Has he said anything to you today?

He not-so-discreetly shoved a card under my room door that had some guitar picks inside with some designs on them. Leona caught him trying to sneak out of Savanaclaw.

That was nice of him. Have you gotten any other presents?

Deuce got me some sunglasses for the bright lights, Leona got me some new golden earrings, Silver got me a star projector that even shows constellations, and Riddle managed to transfer a bunch of books, including textbooks, into audio form for me.

It sounds like each of them put a lot of thought into their gifts.

It's good. I much prefer things I'll actually use rather than stuff that will just sit around.

That makes a lot of sense. Now...I do have a few questions to ask you for the interview.

If you could pick any student from Night Raven College to be your sibling, who would you choose?

That one's not too difficult. I'd pick Deuce. We're already similar enough, and he's not annoying. We get along pretty well and he's already similar to a younger sibling to me. If not Deuce, I'd pick the little fighter.

Little fighter?

Epel. He's the little fighter. Tiny, but he's got bite to him.

What's your favorite food?

Sushi. I generally like all kinds of seafood, but sushi is the best. Especially nigiri, even more so if it's shrimp. Anytime I go to the Mostro Lounge, I get some type of shrimp.

What about your least favorite food?

Avocados. They taste disgusting. My mother used to try and get me to eat them all the time when I was young. I guess hating avocados is one of the things me and my dad have in common.

Can you tell us more about what your parents were like when you were young? Perhaps a different side to the Headmage?

When I was really young me and him used to get along. But I was so young that I hardly have any memories of it. I spent most of my time with my mother or the ghosts of Night Raven College.

You know the ghosts well?

More like they know me well. They've known me basically my entire life. In fact, I spent a lot of time in Ramshackle. It was a nice area to just relax. I had hoped I could relax in it again when I returned, but then I found out about you and the cat...

You're always welcome to come over!

I'll keep that in mind.

I only have one more question for you. If you were to join any dorm other than Savanaclaw, which dorm would you choose?

Probably Ignihyde. Those guys know how to keep to themselves and they aren't very demanding. No one there is going to try and boss me around. Ignihyde students barely talk to me now anyway.

Bonus Special Ryker Facts About Jaxon!

Jaxon is probably my favorite oc out of them all. I have many ocs in many different universes, but I carry Jaxon with me to almost all of them. There's a Genshin Impact Jaxon, Honkai Star Rail Jaxon, Legend of Zelda Jaxon, DnD Jaxon, and so many more! He originally started as a vague concept of an oc, but developed into a full fledged oc about a year ago! I thought I'd share some little facts about Jaxon that we didn't know, or I haven't fully dived into yet!

Jaxon's original design was much different than he is today. In fact, he was originally made for the DC comic universe. His first design looked a bit different, but still had the core parts of his personality and his delinquency arc. His early design actually had wavy black hair and light blue eyes. In his early designs, he actually had a sister named Sophia who also had black hair, but brown eyes instead. She often tried to set him on the right path and was very stubborn, but was one of the few people he cared about.

Another thing I wanted to mention about Jaxon is his struggles with schoolwork. This is something that's very consistent regardless of what universe he's in, and there's actually a reason why he struggles so much. Jaxon has dyslexia, but teachers in the past just sort of gave up on him or found him too difficult to work with, and he pushed them away. Because of this, he never officially got tested and still struggles with it sometimes.

Jaxon's character is one that I've always felt works best in my favorite dynamic of light and dark, or the good and bad dynamic. While Jaxon isn't all bad, he certainly has a lot of negative traits and a lot of trauma weighing on his mind. While he's capable of functioning on his own, he wouldn't do well with someone who is equally as negative as him. That is why Jaxon leans towards people who are seen as good or more positive. It balances him out well.

He's by far my favorite oc and I will forever be grateful for all of you for supporting my writings about him, and loving him just as much as I do! It always makes me so happy to see you guys enjoying him, talking about him, or even making artwork of him! It really makes me feel so special! And we've made it to a year since Jaxon's official creation! It's odd because I almost feel like he's my son and he's growing up so fast. It's amazing to watch how he's developed in this past year, and I'm very happy with him!

Rereading earlier chapters and I cannot BELIEVE myself for almost making Jaxon the traitor lmao

#it was actually the way dahlia was headed #at the end of chapter one in dahlia when sam and ryan go to hang out with him at his friend's house he gets called a traitor for killing hi #in the game #and it says he ''flinches''#the other bits of foreshadowing for it was in chapter 16 when ryan falls into the lake and he doesn't jump in after him #and in chapter 29 he's uncharacteristically less concerned about elliot than he probably should be #and jaxon was supposed to lead leo to the roof to push her not get so angry during their fight that he does #also i believe his backstory with Dylan was that he was trying to get killing them out of the way so that was what caused the explosion #but then he got scared and pushed them out of the way #but also he was like nine years old #so jaxons thing was that he was gonna just keep putting the other kids in life threatening situations bc he was meant to kill them #but it just Kept Not Working for him #but then i didnt know how i was going to end that character arc #like what?? was i meant to just kill him???#that wouldve been a Twist for sure #oc: jaxon #villain jax would've been really fun tho #not to suggest that i don't have an Arc set up for him #the sort of shit you'd expect from leo

I Spy With My Little Eye

Bobo belongs to me, Jaxon belongs to @ryker-writes, Anan and Charin belong to @siphoklansan

(I don't know if the ask I sent regarding Anan's eyes reached Siphok, but if tumblr didn't eat it, sorry for asking and then losing patience to wait. I feel like I probably got a few things wrong with your characters' designs anyway. If official reference sheets of them come out, I may just draw them again.)

In regards to Bobo's comment about what she's seeing definitely not being Malleus... yes Jaxon has tricked her and she's mistaken Malleus for a tree before. She's somewhat near-sighted but refuses to believe that she could benefit from glasses.

Anan and Charin may have gotten ears which my chibi style doesn't usually have, but Jaxon got eyebrows. I usually don't use eyebrows for my chibi style either unless it really helps with emoting but it just felt like I was giving Jaxon a huge forehead with all that empty space.

Also I can't decide how I want to do belts for my chibi style so Jaxon randomly sometimes has a belt. One panel doesn't really show the earrings on Anan's ear and that's because I forgot along with also not knowing what to do with that ear angle.

I thought it would also be fun to share my rough drafts. Had a really rough draft first to try to get the idea down.

Then I polished up to a better rough draft.

Then afterwards decided to split it into two parts considering the size of it all. I did also originally sketch Bobo's phone to be like a flip-phone. When it came to the official outlining, I looked up what phone Crowley actually gives the MC in Twst. It's a smartphone and not something super old.

Also I changed some of Anan's lines as I realized that Siphok also takes the role of the MC and I wasn't sure how to go about merging worlds. I decided to try to keep it a bit more vague by keeping Bobo saying she's from Ramshackle, but not having anyone say if she's the Prefect. So could just be a dormmate I guess? Or just something that no one acknowledges or thinks about when two different MC-inserts may cross paths.

Didn't know how to have Jaxon leave and decided to go for the awkward just go and leave thing.
