Martial Archetype: Knight of the Fallen Oak | The trip spam fighter returns!

This was a patron request (hint hint, high tier patrons can just straight up ask me to make stuff) and I felt like it just so happened to fit this month's theme of inexorable, since this was inspired by 3e and pf1e trip builds where you make trip attacks and then keep making them as they try to get up because getting up provoked opportunity attacks back then in addition to eating up all your movement.

Tripping Hazard

With how 5e combat works, this wouldn't really be a feature if you tripped in place of an attack, sine you can do that anyway. Though it being a save is a difference. But this is how wolf bite attacks work, for instance. Why call out halberds specifically? Because tripping was their thing. In fact, they weren't even reach weapons or mechanically identical to glaives.

And Stay Down

This feature exists explicitly to replicate the old AoOs, and to lean in on a subclass that benefits on tripping

Opportunist

There exists a feat in pathfinder that gives you a number of reactions equal to your Dex mod, which is a bit much, as people noted the last time I gave a fighter this feature, but I felt like more opportunity attacks would benefit the previous feature.

Not So Fast!

Gave a bit of the sentinel feat, which is a popular feat for control builds especially when paired with the polearm master feat, which I also considered adding, but since the only reach weapon this specifically benefits is the halberd, having it be within 5 feet was less useful out of your turn.

And because this subclass felt like being a dick, this one seemed appropriate to be mean.

adam terraria: starts a new world every week bc it forgets what he's supposed to be doing next and it never occurs to him to look it up. bro doesn't even know the wiki Exists. never gets to hardmode bc he insists on playing master difficulty and also is bad at the game minecraft: exclusively plays creative mode in superflat worlds. makes ugly box structures out of diamond blocks and performs horrible labrat experiments on mobs in them

jonah terraria: almost exclusively plays journey mode! makes it his mission every time to 100% the research catalogue. the collection aspect of it tickles something in their brain minecraft: exclusively plays modded with like 20 different incredibly complicated tech mods tht each have a 200 page user manual . and also tinker's construct. they r a pro at it

mark terraria: gets to hardmode on expert mode, delves into the underground hallow bc he's excited to explore, gets jumpscared by a naturally spawning hallowed mimic and has a fucking heart attack minecraft: mark operates out of a dirt hut and yknow what fuck you they like it that way. brother rocking the greentop with the oak door. half the floor is gravel. no glass or trap doors for windows, just 1 block holes in the walls and one of the "windows" is blocked by a double chest. fully enchanted netherite and elytra btw

evelin terraria: actually a pretty good builder. uses the wiki as a guide for npc happiness and builds little towns for them. beat moonlord like 2 months ago and just keeps going back to the same world to build stuff minecraft: plays adventure maps bc she thinks they're fun. evelin has played every minecraft horror adventure map that exists. i think she would love terra swoop force too dave terraria: once he gets far enough in a world to get access to wiring it's all over. spends the rest of the game trying to build machines to instant-ko bosses, with varying degrees of success. a master of the hoik minecraft: you know those videos that are like. using redstone to play minecraft in minecraft. yeah ruth terraria: plays vanilla summoner class in master mode for the worthy seed. she is god's strongest soldier and baby she's going for terraprisma. minecraft: spends the entire first night punching skeletons and creepers to death with her bare steve fists. has that Totally Legit Speedrun luck and finds everything she needs just from running around and raiding generated structures

thatcher terraria: terrible at building but god bless he's trying. favorite part of the game is old one's army, and she spends hours grinding to collect all of the sentries and the armor sets. somehow gets spawn camped by a crawdad and cries minecraft: keeps forgetting that you shouldn't make eye contact with endermen and it scares the shit out of her every time. is prone to lava-based mining incidents

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: Beta 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7

Here we enter an era of a lot of really small updates in a row. Welcome to Minecraft Beta 1.5

This version adds Achievements and Tooltips, so I got the Taking Inventory achievement after 20 hours of gameplay

I went to the fucked up Alpha trees and broke them until I got a birch and spruce sapling

I then became probably one of the first people to get "Getting Wood" with a diamond axe legit.

I then made the collection section.

Here's all of the Items in Minecraft Beta 1.5; The Spruce Sapling, Birch Sapling, Powered Rail, and Detector Rail.

Weclcome to Minecraft Beta 1.6, this is the smallest update in that actually added blocks, right alongside Alpha 1.1

I made a map and a trapdoor, made a new Collection Section, and put the Map and Trapdoor in the chest, completing Beta 1.6

Welcome to Minecraft Beta 1.7, another small one, but probably one of the most common older versions of the game still played, alongside 1.12 for mods, 1.8 for bad combat, and 1.16 for speedrunning.

Grass was added (I think this was back in Beta 1.5, but I'm not willing to check) so that's interesting

I grabbed some leaves from the nearby trees before going off to craft the headlining feature of the update: Pistons.

I then once again added a new Collection Section, the chest in this one is bugged for whatever reason, but I think I'll leave it like that. My collection system is getting very wooden.

I then added the Sticky Piston, the Piston, Oak Leaves, Birch Leaves, Spruce Leaves, and Shears to the collection, completing Minecraft Beta 1.7 and this phase of the challenge

Next Up, combining Beta 1.8 and Full Release 1.0 into one big Adventure Update, which will be one of the more fun segments of the Challenge

Some people have expressed interest in seeing my various alts from FFXIV, so here we go! I am starting with the 8 characters I have on my main world server, along with a little of the backstory I have about each of them. So a brief explanation about this: in my game headcanon, for lack of a better way to put it, Ginko Biloba is the only ‘real’ Warrior of Light. The rest of his party are all very competent warriors who have the Echo, but they lack the Blessing of Light.

The other ‘rule’ I had about them is that they all had to be a different race. They ended up being all male because at the time that’s all I wanted to play as.

1. Ginko Biloba

A Hellion Hrothgar, he was abandoned as a child in the wilds of Yanxia. Found by people living in a nearby tiny village, he was raised by a Lupin couple without any children of their own. All-rounder who favors Dancer, he’s shown as a Black Mage in this photo.

He is based on several characters that I love, though the Hrothgar thing is just because I love tigers. Ginko is my favorite anime character, and I gave him the last name Biloba after much encouragement, and I can’t see myself changing it to anything else anytime soon.

2. Merri Brandybuck

Youngest son of a vigneron-turned-merchant, Merri ran away from home quite young and started making his way as an Adventurer, taking shameless advantage of people who can’t tell what age Lalafells are and wouldn’t care even if they did. Met Ginko early on, took him under his wing so to speak--Ginko might be older than him, but he’s got more adventuring experience. I also had the idea that his dad’s vineyard was located where Brayflox Longstop is now, before the Calamity.

Obviously his name isn’t Lalafellan, but I think I was going to have him change his name to that of a folk hero or something along those lines.

3.  Populus Tremuloides

I don’t have much of an idea for him, yet. I was toying with the idea of borrowing from a webcomic I used to read and have him get badly sick and forget how to get home? It would at least mean I wouldn’t have to say where he comes from, though if SE give us more information about the Viera that would be fantastic. He was originally a woman.

His name is the scientific name for the trembling aspen tree, and I tried to design him with that inspiration in mind.

4.  Crataegus Songarica

Yet again I’m not sure what I’m doing with him so far. Ginko was going to meet the various people in this group at different parts of his journey, so I guess the thing I have to decide is if Crataegus will leave the Steppes or if Ginko will meet him there. I also don’t know what tribe he should come from.

His name comes from the hawthorn tree, specifically the kind with black fruit and white flowers.

5. Quercus Muehlenbergii

I’m definitely thinking he was born and raised in Limsa Lominsa, and his father wanted him to go into some kind of career that involved boats (possibly piracy). To escape this fate, which he had no interest in, he left for Gridania as soon as he was able to save up enough money.

His name comes from the chinquapin oak.

6. Improbable Soda

I... didn’t actually plan to give him and Quercus the same color of Odd Eyes, switched. It just kind of happened. Anyway.

This is my ex-Garlean-turned-hero alt. I don’t have the mods to do things like give him a third eye, so he’s simply a conscript pressed into service, but he 100% fought at the Battle of Carteneau. I had the vague idea that after the Calamity he got away, hid out, changed his name and wandered the land helping people to try and make up for what he’d done in service to the Empire. Eventually he caught the eye of the Scions, and so it goes.

His name came to me in a dream. No, I’m not kidding.

7. Edgeless Blade

He is the son of an Elezen lord and a Hyuran maid, which I admit I stole from the MSQ but it’s such a compelling story and it happens often enough, so why not. In his case it was hushed up entirely because his mother left/was kicked out of the household before he was born. Having nowhere to go, she was reduced to begging for bread and gil. Luckily for her, a passing merchant from Hingashi took pity on her, marrying her quickly and bringing her back with him. He refuses to claim his Elezen father’s name, and doesn’t claim the merchant’s name so no one connects his activities with his adoptive father, who he respects greatly. In fact, he doesn’t claim a name at all; he gained the name he uses from the fact he fights with a wooden sword, and it amuses him to introduce himself as the Edgeless Blade.

I named him after the moniker of a character from Thunderbolt Fantasy.

8. Salix Discolor

I have no idea for him. I just wanted to name a character this name, and also I needed one more character to fill out my ‘static’.

His name is from the glaucous willow.

I've recently started my adventure in #watchmaking and I'm thrilled to present you my favourite builds so far! # 1 SEIKO ROYAL OAK MOD 42mm SS Black pvd coated case with screw down crown, exhibition case back and sapphire crystal glass. It's powered by a NH72a automatic movement with Ruthenium Grey finish and Côtes de Genève decorated rotor. Crystal clear skeleton dial with green lumed hour indices and hands # 2 SEIKO DAYTONA MOD 40mm SS Daytona style case with screw down crown and pushbuttons with a white bezel and sapphire crystal glass. It's powered by a VK63 mechaquarz movement, colorful dial and green lumed hour indices and hands. Made Finn & Jake’s treehouse from Adventure Time. Rather than make the tree from scratch I hollowed out a sacred oak from the Biomes O Plenty mod.
