Join us on Monday, October 23, for a fascinating discussion with paleontologists from around the world on the latest in dinosaur research. Discover what it means to be a paleontologist or paleobiologist working today, and how these scientists got into the field. Hear about their experiences on Museum expeditions and how their investigations continue to shed light on the interrelationships of major dinosaur lines, new molecular signatures in the evolution of dinosaurs, and more. Don't miss out on this dynamic gathering of experts in the field!
This panel will be moderated by the Museum’s Macaulay Curator of Paleontology Roger Benson; panelists will include Kimberely Chapelle, Diego Pol, and Jasmina Weimann.

For the finale of Thierry Mugler’s 10th anniversary collection in March 1984, Pat Cleveland descended from the ceiling as the Madonna in this luminescent, layered chiffon gown. Oh, and she happened to be four months pregnant at the time, with her son Noel!
On February 23, Cleveland will join Matthew Yokobosky, Senior Curator of Fashion and Material Culture, at the Brooklyn Museum for a behind-the-scenes conversation into the intricacies and joys of working with the perfectionist Thierry Mugler.
“[What] hypnotic powers that Thierry Mugler had.  His vision was so intense and so outrageous and so worthwhile,” said Cleveland. “I always felt like I was making history when I did his shows because he is one of the most fabulous and creative showmen, ever.”
Don’t miss this special evening of #BkMTalks and after-hours access to #Couturissime. #ThierryMuglerBkM

NEXT WEEK on 3/14 the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies is back at the illustrious Film Noir Cinema in Greenpoint with an event I'm super pumped about: Witchcraft & Media scholar Peg Aloi will analyze the presence of the Crone and Hag archetypes in popular culture. I personally requested this subject, and was thrilled that Peg agreed to do it. The Witch has long since been reclaimed as an avatar of female empowerment--particularly in the young, fashionable grrl power mode--but what about *witches of a certain age*? Recently, horror has seen a proliferation of images of frightful, predatory older women, drawing ambivalent reactions from audiences. Do these monstrous femmes always reflect a misogynistic attitude? Or might they sometimes suggest a return of the repressed, representing the special powers, wisdom, and righteous indignation of older women? I can't wait to hear what our guest will have to say, and I hope you'll join me next week to find out!

New York City’s annual Easter Bonnet Festival, a celebration that dates back to the 1870s, is a celebration of craftiness and creativity.
The event began as a post-mass stylish fashion show, but it’s a spectacle of floral whimsy and pageantry. Read More: https://divabetic.org/2023/04/10/easter-bonnet-festival-on-fifth-avenue/
