Instruction Due (Compile)
Started with an ask for Rizzrack: “ What is the worst kind of tree? “
Rizzrack
“They’re all the worst! But if you really need to know the worst of the worst, then let me tell you about this particular one. I can’t say I recall the name of the lands I was in, some place in the mountains far north. So! I end up coming face to face with your typical acre of trees, and silly old me didn’t think anything else about it except that I needed it cut it all down of course! That’s what I do. I start cutting. I’m making my way through and all is going well but then, I see it. A big wall of bark. I look up. This is the biggest, tallest tree, I have ever seen. It must’ve been a mile high! Just this, one big tree surrounded by all these other trees. It made them look like pathetic weeds in comparison! Now, you might be wondering, ‘Rizzrack, how did you manage to cut this big tree down?’ I didn’t. I screamed and I got as far away as possible. Don’t give me that look, it caught me by surprise! I promise though, someday when I find myself in that area again, I”ll take care of it. No tree goes uncut!”
NortromtheSilencer
“The upper mountainous regions of the Rue Lands is home to some of the most ancient of redwoods, taller than any others I have ever seen. Imagine encountering not one, but hundreds of trees that height? O second thought, don’t. The ecological damage you would cause would be irreparable. In killing those threes you would kill hundreds if not thousands of species habitats, destroying any sense of homeostasis, and leaving them doomed to die along with any who live in the area and rely on hunting.”
“…”
“How does it feel to know that your goal will kill and doom many more than the trees ever have? When does this mad escapade go from you being a hero to the villain?”
Rizzrack
Rizzrack stammers, caught off guard by Nortrom’s sudden input and appearance. Oh boy, according to the small-keen, out of the two of them, Nortrom was definitely the nosier one. That’s saying something.
“Ugh, you clearly underestimate the destructive nature of trees. There’s plenty of other things this world can rely on other than those monsters I assure you. It’s called adapting! And science! Well, in your case I suppose magic. Ugh, anywho, trust me, sacrifices must be made for the greater good. Besides, Silencer, if you really, truly believe me to be a villain, you’d put an end to me, wouldn’t you?” Rizzrack leans back within his suit and smirks. “Hah, thought so!”
NortromtheSilencer
“No, I see you as not realizing of the very destruction you are causing. For one who boasts about being in a race of scientifically minded and advanced beings, you know nothing about your own psychology or the ecosystem.”
He stares, rather null of expression, before adding one last note, “And if you do come to be a threat, you are correct: I will not hesitate to put you down.”
Rizzrack
Rizzrack rolls his eyes in annoyance and makes a mock puppet with his hand, “yapping” with it as Nortrom speaks. He sighs, waiting for the man to finish a speech the Keen takes more effort to ignore than to listen to. Of course as usual, something catches his attention. He meets the Silencer’s stare with an offended look.
“Excuse me? If I DO become a threat?”
This implies something, doesn’t it? Yes! It implies that maybe he isn’t doing his job to the best of his ability. How could that be though? Have any villages, towns or cities been destroyed by trees lately? Well, no, but, it doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, and this Silencer.
Ugh! Snobby, smug, son of a-
“Birch, oak, elm, you name it, those are the real threats! Why can’t-why can’t you just get that? Oh, pfft why do I keep wasting my time trying to reason with you? It’s pointless.”
The Timbersuit gives a dismissive wave with a clawed hand as it turns to leave.
“Whatever. I’m done here. I’ve got more important things to do, like a thankless job.” The cockpit of the suit rotates around as it continues to walk away to reveal the operator sticking his tongue out in a childish manner. “Oh, and I’ll be looking forward to that day you try to stop me! With great anticipation!”
NortromtheSilencer
Arrogance was one of the few peeves Nortrom had no tolerance for, on top of ignorance. By displaying both, Rizzrack marked himself for the man’s ire. Soon the sounds around them, the rattling clunk of the Timbersaw as it trotted away, vanished into nothingness. Before one might register why this was, the Silencer took off in a blur of violet as he dashed full sprint, glaive manifesting into his hand and hooking straight into the armour of the timbersuit. It vibrated with a cyan hue, pure willpower radiating from matching eyes, glowing, angered, and using this as an anchor point the man forced himself upward and lept into the cockpit before Rizzrack. Given there was no sound, the jarring effect would be greatly magnified on most.
“You better listen up with those big ears of yours,” Nortrom grabbed Rizzrack by the collar of the shirt, hauling him from his seat and face to face. Only the SIlencer’s voice, rife with annoyance and anger, could be heard; All else was silent.
“You think you’re playing some high and mighty hero, saving people from the trees, when all you’re doing is committing eco-terrorism. In a bid to ‘save’ yourself, you instead condemn other creatures to extinction… Ever think about this the other way around? Ever think that those trees that killed your family, your people, your city– Ever think they were doing the same thing? You encroached on their space, cut and killed their kin, so now like you and your mad crusade against trees they lashed out and killed those responsible? The very same bullshit you keep spouting is the very same thing they thought, about the Keens rising up to kill all of them, and destroy their way of life? No, you can’t see further than your own fucking nose, can you? It would be too hard to admit you may have done the same fucking thing in reverse.”
His brows were knit, a stern scowl plastered across age defined featured and eyes glowing a violent blue as he held the silence around them. Nortrom snarled, one last point to make, “If I so much as hear of a single branch falling by your doing anywhere near any of Aeol Drias’ land or holdings, the trees won’t be the worst of your worries. I don’t want your havoc wreaking ways to destroy ANYTHING NEAR Aeol Drias, of so help me I will give you something much greater to fear than some damned plants. Do I make myself clear?”
Rizzrack
Rizzrack expected a reaction, but nothing like this.
The silence comes, blocking noise from penetrating deeper within one’s ears that finger tips could accomplish. His mouth opens to spit out words of indignation. but as the glaive digs itself into his suit, his teeth clench and he winces.
That hurt?
A silent gasp. Caught off guard by the unexpected pain, he recoils at the sudden approach of the man. Fearful, he throws his arms out in defense, and turns away. Bad idea. With no sound of steps to indicate how close he was, the sudden grab sends a jolt of terror through his heart. Any sounds of protest continue to go unheard. He turns his head back to face the man, terrified eyes meeting another pair that glow just as bright with anger as they do blue. The voice hits him as if it originates from within his own mind, and once again he feels within him something he hadn’t felt since he crossed the Harbinger.
Nortrom’s words come fast, but this time Rizzrack takes in every single one. With every word comes a jabbing pain into his very self, challenging every part of his existence that came to be since the day that life-changing event took place. His conscience fought against every statement, searching for reason that he can’t be at fault, that they weren’t deserving of such a fate, but the man  continues. Deeper and deeper his words cut him, and the one thought that Rizzrack pushed far into the back of his mind begins to take a step towards the light. He can’t defend himself any longer against his words.
He ceases his struggling within the man’s grip. Try as he might to stop them, tears well up in his eyes as the Silencer makes his final statement. Rizzrack is lost for an answer as a voice he’s repressed for so long speaks within him just as loud as the man. The world is a cruel place, filled with war, souls fighting for their causes and beliefs. Life is unfair. You’re no special.
A desire to avert his gaze tries to overcome him, but he keeps his eyes locked with Nortrom’s. He sees it. He sees it in the lines upon his face. This man before him knows conflict. He knows death, murder, pain. He’s fought his fair share of battles. Putting aside his own pride and selfishness for once, Rizzrack realizes that now about the Silencer.
The air is still held in quiet captivity, but despite his voice going unheard, the movement of his lips still deliver his answer clearly.
“What makes you right?”
NortromtheSilencer
There is a moment of realization in Rizzrack’s eyes, a twitch to his brow and motion carried by his expressions that show he was listening. Good. Even if his answer was just as haughty as the ones before, Nortrom allows the silence to settle, sound gradually returning as if nothing had ever occurred. He instead let his own silence linger, their stares matching, waiting, exemplifying his previous words and those soon to be.
And then…
“The same thing that makes you right, Rizzrack,” Nortrom lowers the Keen enough that his feet can touch the seat, giving him stability, “Nothing.” It’s all assumption by them both, as none can hear the thoughts of the trees, and the motivations of Augury but Augury itself.
Rizzrack
Rizzrack’s feet find their ground as his hands grasp over Nortrom’s which hold him still. Gaining balance, his fingers cautiously tug and pry at his grip as if delicately peeling a sticker from a surface. The small-Keen knows he’s bound to tick him off again some way or another in the future, but for now he just wants to be alone. He needs to think about some things, certain things he has a habit of pushing to the back of his mind, as uncomfortable as it makes him feel to do so.
Nothing.
It tumbles about his mind like a leaf in the breeze. Everything needs a reason, doesn’t it? There was a reason for the trees to attack, just as there was a reason he alone survived. What is the purpose of these things? What is his purpose?
His curiosity taps about, an urge growing within him to seek answers once more if only to satisfy himself and allow him to fabricate some new reason to base a purpose upon. For once he legitimately wants to know more about this man.
The small-Keen looks up at him, and in his heart is a flurry of feelings he just can’t quite figure out. What is it? Something bugs him. Something about the way Nortrom is, having a say in matters as if he knows what truly is going on. Rizzrack’s expression tightens as he begins to admit to himself that maybe this man is more intelligent than he gives him credit for.
As a Keen, it’s humiliating.
He finds himself looking up much longer than intended. He looks away,  finding himself growing more and more uncomfortable now in Nortrom’s presence. When has anyone ever spoken to him like this, challenging him, questioning him, but above all, taking him seriously?
He finally pulls himself away from his hold, leaning his hip against the back rest of the seat. Maybe these interactions need to stop, for the sake of his sanity.
Whatever’s left of it, according to the world.
Rizzrack keeps his gaze averted. Despite sound returning to it’s normal state, he finds himself stuck being silent. He can’t seem to find anything else to say now except for a few small words.
“Can you please get off my suit?”
NortromtheSilencer
Nortrom waits a few silent seconds longer before nodding and fully releasing the Keen from his grip. Fully expecting Rizzrack to attempt and cut him down the second he was near the blades, the Silencer acted fast, jumping with a forceful push against the cockpit as far as he possibly could while staying upright. A glance was cast at the machine, and there was a realization that his glaive was still embedded in the hull; Easy to remedy. Placing his left hand slightly away from him, the glaive vanished from where it had been and materialized back into grip as though nothing had occurred. Such a simple feat for the man that would make many common folk think he was much more powerful than in reality.
How strange it was, to think how far the war had corrupted innocence. Perhaps if a Keen came to him spouting off nonsense about trees coming to life and decimating a population, he would have laughed it off as psychosis. Now? That would be one of the least strange things he had seen or heard of. Of course he believed Rizzrack, there was no reason not to. It was this thought that brought Nortrom back to what was said, and while still annoyed he did feel a tinge of remorse…
“If you’re wishing to delve deeper into what may have transpired, while keeping an open mind to dissenting opinion, you may seek me out. Believe it or not, I don’t despise you Rizzrack.” Back turned, the man started to walk away.
Rizzrack
Nortrom’s kick-off sends the suit staggering back, and the small-Keen quickly fumbles for the controls to regain balance before it tips over. Another jolt in his heart from the fear of falling over, he finds himself quickly tiring of it. An exhausted sigh and shoulders slump forward as he glares at the embedded glaive until it returns to its owner. Nothing left to keep the two of them in each other’s vicinity. It would be better for him to head off anyways and calm his rattled nerves by making some repairs to the suit. An activity that may prove difficult with the strange hurricane of thoughts and feelings swirling about in his head.
So confusing. He didn’t like it, and in typical Rizzrack fashion, the best way to handle scary confusing things was to avoid it.
Stupid Silencer. Thinks he knows everything but he just doesn’t get it.
You stubborn creature.
Rizzrack’s head hangs low, the brim of his helmet shadowing the tears that welled in his eyes but his long face still easily tells of his hurt feelings. Finding no other reason to hang around any longer, his hands go for the controls but Nortrom’s words hold him still. He would have rolled his eyes and scoffed at the man, but he didn’t. Instead he only thinks about it, givesa loud exasperated sigh, then turns the suit about and walks it off.
“Let’s just forget this happened.”

Analysis
With her draconic power unrestrained Fallen F!Corrin becomes a true force to be reckoned with. Her incredibly high BST and stat ceilings make her a versatile unit that can not only take a significant punch but dish out immense damage herself as well.
F!F!Corrin’s Savage Breath further complements her high stats as it grants her huge boosts to all her stats increasing as the number of allies near her decreases. At neutral and with no allies within 2 spaces, Savage Breath puts F!F!Corrin at a statline of 60/43/37/33 unsupported. Her default Atk/Spd Solo further increases her Atk and Spd by +6. Savage Breath’s condition encourages an aggressive playstyle, throwing F!F!Corrin into the thick of battle alone. However, with the right build and support, F!F!Corrin can easily take the heat.
Dancers/refreshers or units with Smite make great support units for her as they can allow her to cross a greater distance away from her team in one turn. Namely, Mordecai: Kindhearted Tiger is the perfect ally for F!F!Corrin. With Sabertooth Fang, Smite, Atk/Def Link, and Spd and Res Tactic, Mordecai can not only single-handedly grant full +6 buffs to F!F!Corrin but also debuff nearby enemies at her landing point after being smitten. This essentially creates a +10 gap between F!F!Corrin’s stats and her opponents on top of Savage Breath’s bonus, allowing her to wreak havoc on the battlefield while taking minimal damage with absurdly high offenses and defenses. Azura: Vallite Songstress (Legendary Azura) fills a similar role, being the only unit that can increase infantry movement.
Because of F!F!Corrin’s versatility, she favors no boons/assets in particular aside from HP. Her optimal IVs will depend mostly on the chosen build.

Builds
Budget/Low Investment
Tumblr media
With Corrin’s well-rounded stats and access to breaths she can run a wide variety of different skills and builds to play to different strengths or playstyles. Don’t be afraid to experiment as she can make good use of nearly anything you give her.
The example build on the left keeps Corrin’s default Atk/Spd Solo as it stacks well with Savage Breath’s effect, ideally giving her +12 Atk/Spd on initiation. The conditions for these skills are most easily met in the player phase, so giving her Desperation as well allows her to tear through bulkier units that she can’t kill in one hit alone. Pairing Heavy Blade and Glimmer allows her to fully charge and activate Glimmer every time she initiates with Desperation, heavily increasing her damage output.
The build on the right is geared more towards her balanced offense and defense, using Fury to grant raw stats all around. Fury’s recoil damage can compromise her ability to stay standing, so using Vantage opens up the opportunity to OHKO opponents and thus avoid taking more hits than she would like. With all effects fully active, this build puts her at a whopping 70 Atk in addition to 46/47/43 Spd/Def/Res. Her special can be swapped for Glimmer for more frequent special procs or Noontime/Sol for sustainability.
Corrin’s other Sacred Seal options include Smoke skills, Flashing Blade, Quick Riposte, Stance skills, Darting Blow, Brazen skills, Close Def, and buff skills. Corrin may find it particularly difficult to make the most of buff skills since she will often want to be off on her own, separate from her allies.
Distant Counter Enemy/Mixed Phase
Tumblr media
With her dragon typing and incredible stats Corrin makes an excellent Distant Counter user. She’ll make quick work of her foes and tear down any enemies that initiate on her.
The first build uses Null C-Disrupt to further narrow the amount of units that can attack her without risk, namely Dazzling Staff or Firesweep weapon users. Quick Riposte grants her a failsafe if she fails to naturally double and allows her to take a Spd bane with little regret. Because Corrin already has plenty of Atk, using Sol over an offensive special allows her to stand against hordes of enemies even more confidently by being able to replenish her HP, especially as it may bring her back above Quick Riposte’s HP threshold. If Dazzling/Firesweep threats aren’t much of a concern, Null C-Disrupt can be replaced with Quick Riposte to open up her Sacred Seal slot or with other powerful enemy/mixed phase B Skills, such as Wrath. Atk Smoke’s AoE debuff will allow her to take even more hits.
The second build uses Aether and cooldown acceleration to increase both her damage output and sustainability without losing consistency. Once Aether has been activated once it will essentially be on a cooldown of 3 from that point on. She can then activate it in every round of combat by taking one hit, counterattacking with Heavy Blade to fully charge Aether, then proc Aether on her follow-up attack. However, without Quick Riposte, this build will rely on Corrin’s natural ability to double through her Spd.
The last two builds use Lightning Breath+ instead of Savage Breath to free up her A Slot and allow for more traditional dragon tank sets using powerful skills like Steady Breath or Distant Def 4 as shown. Experiment with different defensive/enemy phase skills and see what works best for you as they all have their own benefits and niches.
Player Phase
Tumblr media
With excellent offenses especially thanks to Savage Breath Corrin can be used as a player phase sweeper with ease.
The first build is a more traditional player phase set, using Fury 4, Desperation, and Brazen Atk/Def to allow Corrin to hit hard and fast by making the most of Fury 4’s recoil damage to gain Desperation and Brazen’s benefits without having to take hits first. Desperation is the main crux of this build making her other skills flexible. For instance, the A Slot can be replaced with skills like Sturdy Impact, Flashing Blade 4, or her default Atk/Spd Solo. The Sacred Seal can be replaced with skills like Darting Blow or Heavy/Flashing Blade.
The second build uses Corrin’s high Spd to constantly charge and activate Blazing Wind (or any other AoE special of choice) thanks to Flashing Blade and Special Spiral. Once it has been activated once, Blazing Wind will have a CD of 2, which only takes one Flashing Blade-accelerated attack to recharge. Because AoE specials are non-lethal, Corrin will always attack after activating Blazing Wind, essentially allowing her to use it every single time she initiates assuming she passes Flashing Blade’s Spd check. Hardy Bearing prevents Vantage users from retaliating against Corrin in between her activating Blazing Wind and her actual attack. Stacking skills that grant her special charge at the start of battle, such as Infantry Pulse, Ostia’s Pulse, Quickened Pulse, and Velouria’s weapon, Wolfpup Fang, can allow Corrin to spam Blazing Wind from the start without having to manually charge it first.
Smite/Link Duelist
Tumblr media
Because Savage Breath’s stat boost relies on being separate from her team, Corrin won’t be able to stack AoE buffs like Drives or maintain visible buffs like Tactics on consecutive turns as easily without giving up Savage Breath’s stats. This build uses Bonus Doubler to make the most of the turns when she does have those buffs, notably from Link skills with the aforementioned Smite strategy.
Using the example of Mordecai and his default B skill, Atk/Def Link 3, if Mordecai uses Smite on a Corrin with Spd/Res Link 3 Corrin will receive +6 visible buffs to all of her stats and thus receiving an additional +6 with Bonus Doubler on top of the +6 from Savage Breath. This setup then grants Corrin a total statline of 72/55/49/48 with an additional +6 to Def/Res if Close Def is active. On top of this any foes within range of Corrin will be ployed for -4 in all their stats thanks to Sabertooth Fang’s -4 AoE debuff from Mordecai. This demonstrates the incredibly high potential Corrin can reach with her high BST and Savage Breath even without merges or dragonflowers.
It might also be worth noting that if Corrin is buffed with a level 4 Hone/Fortify skill and is then refreshed by L!Azura, she will instead have full +7 visible buffs that are then doubled by Bonus Doubler to +14.

Another Adventure... Again.
In a universe, sewn together like the Frankenstein monster from all kinds of different universes that was either destroyed or left after The Cataclysm, lived many people and creatures. Creatures and people from far and wide, from formly many different universes, all now living together in one. From the the noble transformers, to the alien gems and lizardmen, to the beastly orcs, to the strange trolls, to kryptonians, to creatures known as pokemon, to the mighty rahis, skakdis and matorans, to the mysterious eldar, to the brutish skaarjs, gnaars and aludran reptiloid, the money-happy vortixxs and zorgs, the peaceful kleers and gungans and many others.
It’s not entirely clear what caused The Cataclysm, but what is known is that the vast majority of multiple universes was destroyed or wiped out. What else happened, was that pokemon went from the ordinary once we all know and love, to be mutated into giant mutants and monsters, and similar things happened to other creatures, like how rahis suddenly got a craving for the sacred kanohi masks and went full on feral and berserk, or how lycanthropy and vampirism spread violently and turned people into monsters, with the only population of infected who retained their humanity was those of The Dark Planet. It didn’t help that demons was suddenly let loose and started to destroy everything, and that Mental and his horde started to wreaking havoc on a large scale, as well as other things. How all of this happened as well as everything else, is left up for debate and research, but eventually was the gods and goddesses able to pull the universe back together, somewhat at least, and did their best to fix what they could. A lot of the damage and such was still left over from The Cataclysm, but the universe was once more inhabitable. The only creatures who didn’t really suffer from this, was the creatures knowns digimons, who kept themselves to cyberspace and also strengthened the barrier between their world and the real world to ensure that the damage wouldn’t carry over, or at least minimize it.
This is the universe that our little adventure will begin, and it so happens that our friend, who we will be following today, hates adventures, well to bad for her, because she’s getting dragged into this one as well. She lives in a house on one of the city worlds.
Her name is Odina.
A human woman of Algonquian heritage, standing at only 4’5 feet tall, but is well build, a bit round with a bit of belly, not big, but still noticeable and a bit of a short stack, was sitting in her couch, just relaxing and playing video games. She had a bit of a punk look to her, with her choice of jeans, grey-blue shirt, high boots, earrings and dark green jacket, as well as the red frontbang she has in her short brown hair. She also wears square glasses.
Odina could be described as a bit of a grump, sullen and kind of a lovable grouch. Ironically she sees herself as having a cool, punk badass, unemotional vibe to live up to, but in reality she’s a sleepy dork who is too laidback to be fierce, and one of the people who knows this, is her friend Sariel Isda.
Odina and Sariel Isda has been friends since they were kids. Sariel Isda can be a bit hard to classify if you meet her for the first time, since she’s made of pure magic, but is actually a demoted angel who was reborn on Odina’s world to get a new start, and yet for some reason is classified as a fairy. So yeah it can get kinda confusing sometimes.
In terms of appearance had Sariel Isda a bit of each. Her lower body consisted of a short tail, kinda like those classic cartoon ghosts. Four arms with the lower pair looking like normal human hands and the upper ones more like large claws. She has six wings that was in the shape of that of an angel, but had the texture and bug-like appearance of a fairy. She sometimes has a neck and sometimes she don’t, it seems to just come and go as she feels like, so her head was just floating above her body some times. Her hair is coily, thick and massive, almost like a mane. It does straighten out whenever she’s angry or aggressive, almost making her look like the classic banshee, but it returns to it’s normal coily state when she calms down and also stops floating everywhere as well. She had seven eyes, three on each side of the face and one big one in her forehead, her upper torso and lower body were detached just like the head, and just in between those two sections was a large orb floating. Just like with the neck, sometimes these three pieces are connected and sometimes they just float. The majority of her body was either primarily blue or secondary purple, with the only exceptions being the large orb and her eyes, which were all green, with the seventh eye in her forehead being golden.
Sariel floated towards Odina and laid besides her. “What are you playing?” She asked her.
“Just Minecraft. I’m currently exploring to see the new biomes and such that has been added.” Odina said with a little smile.
“Cool, can i play too?” Sariel asked. She wanted to point out how Odina was smiling, but she felt like being sweet today. She did find it adorable and funny whenever Odina tried to act up.
“Of course, i’ll activate split screen and you take the other controller.” Odina said and prepared Sariel to join the game.
Sariel logged into the game and grabbed her controller. “I don’t remember Minecraft looking like this.” She said as she looked at how the world looked.
“Oh, that’s because i’m using the “resource pack A'therys Ascended” to give the game a different appearance. I also downloaded Galacticraft so that i at some point can build myself a rocket and either build my own space station of calmly explore other places.” Odina explained to her. Odina was more into crafting games and casual stuff, not so much for hardcore grinding and all that. Just a game where she could go about her own business like she wants to. Though she’s also a fan of platformers and racing games.
In the game they travelled through the ice spikes biome. Sariel was quite impressed with how it all looked. It had been a while since she last played.
After a bit they left the ice spikes biome and entered a regular snowy tundra biome where they encountered a village. The two girls decided to put up shop here and build a house. Sariel stod for most of the house building while Odina explored and did whatever peared into her brain.
While Sariel was building their home. She swore she saw something off in the distance. She shrugged it off and continued building, might just have been the new snow biome mob called a “stray”.
Odina, while searching, found a pillager outpost. “Hey, Sariel, look what i found.” She said. “What’s that?” She asked. “It’s a pillager outpost. It’s something they’ve added. This also means there’s a chance for the village we live in now to be raided, so we should prepare defenses.” She replied, and Sariel nodded.
Sariel began building a fort around the village, as well as making sure it was as lit up as possible to lower the chance of hostile mobs spawning inside. She saw something move in the distance again, and this time she could tell that it’s body was to thick to be a stray and it moved like a player before disappearing again. “Did you see that?” She asked, which made Odina a bit confused. “See what?” She replied. “Well, i saw something walk in the distance, but it moved like a player and it was to thick to be a stray.” Sariel explained. “We’re the only players on the server, and none of my mods adds a mob that walks like that.” Odina said back, not sure how to respond, she mostly thought that Sariel just saw things.
However, after a few seconds, when Odina had returned to the village, a flash of flight suddenly erupted from the screen. One would be able to hear Odina yell “Are you kidding me right now?!” as it went on. Soon enough, both Sariel and Odina found themselves in a snowy region. It took a bit, but eventually was Sariel able to figure out that she had been sucked into the game, if the blocky terrain was anything to go by. Odina had figured it out right away.
Sariel looked down at her body, while she stayed mostly the same, she was more “human” shaped now. The orb that used to be her belly was now a regular belly, a bit on the chubby side, and her body was no longer detachable and was connected in the same way as it would a regular human or elf. Her wings were gone too, and she now only had two arms instead of four. Besides that everything was the same.
“YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! DID I SERIOUSLY GET DRAGGED INTO ANOTHER ONE OF THESE SO-CALLED “ADVENTURES”?!?!” Sariel heard Odina shout, and she ran towards her friend. Odina was covered in snow and clearly angry and grumpy about being roped into another adventure, honestly she just wants to relax and play her games dang it!
They looked around and  saw that all of the mobs and villagers were no longer made of blocks. The world itself was still.
After Sariel helped her up, they were approached by a mysterious figure. “I’m very sorry about this, but i needed help, and was kinda desperate.” He said. Odina looked up at the tall man, and realised that this person was none other than Herobrine himself.
“HELP YOU?! YOU’RE F!”#¤KING HEROBRINE!” She shouted, clearly scared at the current moment. “Wait, let him speak.” Said Sariel and helped cool down Odina.
“Yeah, i guess i do owe you guys an explanation. Well to begin with, i’m not evil, that’s a common misconception. Villainbane isn’t evil either. As for why you’re here, it’s because i need help. I am trapped here, and both Null and Entity_303 is on the loose. I guess you’ve heard the stories about how i tortured players? Those aren’t true, i’m one of the good guys! Whenever i appear, it’s to try and either fight of those two or to warn people, sadly this caused people to think I’M the villain. Anyway back on track, Null is the one who keeps me trapped here, and i wish to be free, but we also have to stop him, because if we don’t, this will be his game, and he might not stop with simply that either. I’ve already heard him planing to make deals with creatures such as the hell beast Red, BEN, several digimon warlords and so on. Basically he’s forming his own digital mafia that could take control over the entire Net Ocean and beyond if we don’t stop him.” Herobrine explained to them.
That was quite a bit to take in, but both Odina and Sariel got the memo across. Odina was wondering why he choose specifically them, there were other people who were playing at the moment and such. “So how do we stop him?” Asked Sariel. “I’m not to sure, but we should get some gear for you two and get started.” Herobrine said. “Mind helping me get rid of that Pillager outpost and get those iron golems to town? We might need them.” Said Odina. “Sure thing.” he replied and went off with Odina who put on her iron armor.
Sariel took Odina by the shoulders before they left. “Are you okay?” She asked her. “Just slightly annoyed that i once again have been dragged into another of these so called adventures. At least this time, i can do regular stuff while we wait, since the game mechanics are still in full function on us. So at least it’s not as bad as the other ones i’ve been roped into before, so there’s that.” Odina replied. Sariel simply nodded and watched her walk off towards the pillager outpost.
Sariel remained behind and continued to built, it was pretty much like actually playing it, but more first-personish, well more first person than it already was. While she did that, was Herobrine and Odina out and pillaging the pillager outpost, killing all of the illagers in the outposts and looting EVERYTHING, while also freeing the iron golems they had captured, which Herobrine helped bring back to the village. Herobrine was also the one to kill the captain to make sure that neither Odina or Sariel got hit by Bad Omen, since he was supernatural in the “correct way”, he was able to remove the effect from himself easily.
When they came back, did they help with the building. Villainbane also showed up shortly where she helped out, though she did not stay for long. Having the potential of facing Null was a bit to much for her. Herobrine did not blame her, he understood it clearly, and she did have a bad history regarding Null. A very bad history.
After a bit of time was the fort around the village built and so was their house, and the extra iron golems should be able to protect the village incase either an event happens or someone is able to get over or around the fort somehow. Sariel also made some snow golems to help protect. They did live in a snow biome anyway, so why not? They all three proceeded to mine for ores and materials. Odina did ask why Herobrine didn’t just abuse his powers, to which Herobrine explained if he used his powers to much, he could end up attracting Null and Entity_303 to their location before they’re even ready.
Odina was pretty happy that they could still just explore for the moment. This “adventure” so far hasn’t been to bad, since she could just explore and do regular things at the moment, instead of exploring dangerous temples or fighting giant demons or being on a time limit or anything like that. Sariel was both scared and excited, this was her first adventure. For some reason, while Odina constantly gets dragged along on adventures, even though she doesn’t want to, but it ends up happening anyway, Sariel herself for some reason never got to come on any of them, but she was always ready to make Odina some hot chocolate for when she got home.
After a few days of mining they finally got enough diamonds to make full sets for all of them. While Odina and Sariel got themselves some diamond swords, Herobrine used a little bit of his powers to create a military war pickaxe. He had his tastes. Sariel and Herobrine became pretty good friends, while there was still a bit of a bridge between him and Odina. Odina was a bit aloof.
A bit more time has passed and Sariel noticed that there was phantoms outside, but they only appear when a player haven’t slept for a long time. It was then she looked around. She found Herobrine still asleep so it wasn’t him. She looked at Odina then, and discovered that she had bags on her eyes and rushed to her. “When was the last time you were asleep?” She asked panicking. “Don’t know.” Odina simply said, not really seeming to bother. “You can’t do this to yourself!” Sariel said as she tried to take Odina away from her work, “You need to get some rest!” she continued. “There’s no need for this! Just let me continue, the sooner we complete this “quest” of ours, the faster we can come home.” Odina replied.
Sariel knew that if she continued like this, things would end bad, even after returning home. She would not let Odina overwork herself like this, she would make Odina rest, even if she had to make her! She grabbed Odina’s cheeks and gave the woman a kiss on the lips. Sariel isn’t aware of this, at all actually, but so far she was the only one that Odina would allow and was comfortable to be kissed on the lips by. Odina herself wasn’t sure why that was, she was very confused by this as well. Sariel expanded the kiss so Odina’s head entered her maw, as she worked on getting the rest of her down. Odina was shorter then Sariel, but a lot broader. Sariel swallow Odina majestic breasts, her slightly chub belly (not as chub as her own), her wide and powerful hips and finally slurped up her legs and send her down into her belly. It was a different feeling, since her belly no longer was orb shaped and was like that of an ordinary human in terms of shape and build.
Odina would protest, but stopped herself, instead just sitting down all grumpy until her eyelids closed on their own. The phantoms outside began to slowly disappear. Sariel rubbed her belly gently before going back to work. They were working on getting experience points to enchant their weapons.
A few more days pass, and Herobrine began to notice a pattern between Sariel and Odina. He walked up to Sariel, who still had Odina in her belly, and wanted to ask some questions. “How long have you two known each other?” He asked. “Oh, we’ve known each other since we were kids!” Sariel replied happily. “Are you two close?” He continued. “Very close. We’re best friends! Though sometimes i wish we were more.” “What was that last part?” “Nothing, just mumbling.” “Do you think it’s possible that Odina like-like you? You two have known each other for so many years now, like really many years, and considering her personality, it seems a bit out of character of her to just, ALLOW, you to kiss her, unless she might have a thing for you.”
Sariel began to blush from that last one, only squeaks being able to escape her. She suddenly felt a tingle inside her belly and before she knew it, Odina had eaten her from the inside, absorbed her into her own body. Odina had the power to absorb magic, either neutral or sapient. Odina was also red in the face. “We’re just friends buddy, don’t you dare throw statements like that around!” She said in an embarrassed-angry voice. Herobrine was both shocked and surprised when Odina suddenly appeared like that after having slurp-absorbed Sariel. Though afterwards he just let out a little chuckle and turned around and went back to work. Odina was about to follow him, only to get her hips stuck in the door. “Oh, !”#¤ me, why does this have to keep happening to me, even when i haven’t absorbed any magic?” She asked herself annoyed. She could feel Sariel move around in them, and she let her out and her hips immediately shrank back to normal.
They almost fell over each other when Herobrine suddenly came rushing towards them at high speed. “THEY ARE COMING THIS WAY!” He shouted, clearly referring to Entity_303 and Null. However, Herobrine could also feel something else approach them. Through cyberspace. Soon, a digital portal opened up, and a short, but curvy, woman with aquatic features stepped through. It was Ranamon.
“What are you doing here Ranamon? What does the Cobalt Stingers want this time?” asked Odina bitterly. There are many factions in this broken-crossed universe, both small and big, and one of the more well known ones were the Cobalt Stingers, basically glorified pirates, lead by the troll Vriska, who takes and do whatever they want, while claiming to be “stylish”. Herobrine stepped in though. “She’s no longer a part of the Stingers. I know about that, and i know about the group she’s now a part of. What i want to know is, what do they want here?” he asked Ranamon, who replied with “My boss wanted me to take care of Null and Entity_303. She knows the threat that those two propose. I was the only digital creature that could easily slip in, so i was send in to try and stop them. For now at least, they’re working on making the gate bigger.” “They could at least have hired the bounty hunter Reapermon, or an army of mercenary tankmons, or even the D-Brigade or The Three Muskeérs!” Said Herobrine with a face palm, they did not know just WHO they were dealing with. Ranamon took note though and send the message back to Shockwave and the others, back at the Task Force X headquarters. Task Force X could be compared to an altered version of suicide squad, except less murdery and less about the members being meat shields and more about redemption, atonement and secret missions. Shockwave was one of these people who ended up with this group, and ever since then, has he become more and more like the beloved senator he once was so many years ago, but also a bit of a troll (not literally like Vriska or Nepeta, but as in he likes to mess with people, such as giving Reyes pineapple on pizza).
They all simply nodded to this, Odina still did not trust her, and Sariel was skeptical. The only one who really trusted her, was Herobrine. Not that she blamed them, while she wasn’t the biggest criminal or influence from within the Cobalt Stingers, she still did her fair share of bad stuff and harm. Back then she had to use a robot body to upload herself into in order to interact with the real world.
“I have some spare armor you can get.” Said Herobrine and handed it to her, she thanked him and put it on right away. The diamonds of Minecraft was many times stronger than and other diamond found throughout the universe.
Soon enough, the door flew across the room, as a shadowy figure entered the room, who was black as night, dark as void, with little to no features besides a humanoid form of shadows. He was void, he was Null. The other figure was a person, he was a white-hooded figure with two bloodshot red eyes, and everything under his hood was dark, but unlike Null, you could tell he had form and shape like a person, or at least a humanoid creature. He was Entity_303.
Null began to speak with a voice that send shivers down the three girls’ and Herobrine’s spines, even Grimlock, Undyne and Shockblast would have shivered in fright if they had heard it. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? Herobrine has gotten himself some friends? That’s so charming, but you know you can’t leave, this is your home, and you belong to me. I’ll let you keep them, they’re not going anywhere either, they’ll stay here too.” the shadowy figure spoke, making them all gulp in fear. Entity_303 simply laughed at their reactions, finding it enjoyable.
Herobrine readied his military war diamond pickaxe, and the others prepared their swords as well. “It seems like you need to be disciplined once more little Hero’, and so does your friends. Not that i mind. I enjoy to hear your screams and when you plead for mercy. I’ll make sure that the blood runs fresh. This might send a good mental message to your friends here.” Null said calmly, like he had nothing to fear, and that might just be true.
“Let me take care of them. You promised me i could do it next time, my Lord.” Entity_303 asked Null, who nodded in response. “Go ahead.” He said.
Entity_303 pulled out a large scythe and went on the offensive. Targeting Sariel first, but Odina just blocked it in time with a shield. “Nice block.” He said in response.
“Herobrine, a little help here?” Odina half shouted. “On my way, Entity_303 is the easier to deal with. He’s mostly using hacks, so his actual skills aren’t to high.” He replied back to her, before sinking his military war diamond pickaxe into Entity_303’s shoulder, causing him to groan and roar in pain.
Null just watched as Entity_303 fought against the others. Ranamon summoned a blast of water and hit Entity_303 with it, and send him flying out of the room and into the streets of the village. Both the snow golems and iron golems almost immediately jumped on him to attack him. “I knew those golems would be of great help.” Said Odina to herself, as she and the others ran out to continue to fight him.
Meanwhile outside of the game, another person had just entered. A massive lime-green woman with a vaguely humanoid body, her body composed of a constantly shifting amorphous mass; new features continually drift in and out of being, additional limbs are common. Overall she has a fairly solid, thick build, but she’s just slim enough to qualify as curvy instead. Black veins streak across her body, especially wherever she is about to change form. All her body is extremely soft, but not to the point of being liquid. She’s still solid, just… extremely wobbly. She’s got a lot of subtle details of marine life in general: gills, the sheen of scales, and so on, but she appears to base her form specifically on turtles and octopi in general. Her face is mostly featureless; huge, plump lips, several sets of eyes in fairly random places, and a slight swell where humans would have a nose. She does have several thick tentacles where humans would have hair. Below the waist, her body is a mass of tentacles, notably thicker than her upper body; she can grow any number of these, and her arms are a similar part of tentacles. She had pseudopods instead of fingers, with very dexterous cillae; she can grow fingers, but prefers not to. Her name was Lilisheb the Shoggirl. Odina tends to be the more practical and sensible between the two. Odina and Sariel also gets sandwiched into her body a lot.
Lilisheb was a good friend of both Odina and Sariel, and she came over to see if they wanted to hang out and play video games or something. She looked around the room and couldn’t see either Odina or Sariel anywhere. She did notice something though. The TV screen was cracked. She could see some minecraft players fighting in their blocky fighting style. Though she did think that some of the skins looked very much like Odina and Sariel, as well as Ranamon and there was also one with a Herobrine skin, who all seemed to be fighting this player with a shadowy skin in a white rob and red eyes. The robed player seemed to be a hacker of some sort, going of how he was just flying and running around.
Lilisheb went ahead and checked the controller curiously, only for a sudden bright light to invelop her as well. In panic she tried to get away, but it was to late, she to was sucked into this world as well.
Lilisheb fell through the skies and landed right on top of Entity_303, crushing him under her massive, yet soft, body. “W-what’s going on?” She asked randomly. “Welcome to another adventure that neither of us wanted.” Said Odina who looked somewhat surprised to see her. Suddenly was Lilisheb lifted up by an angry Entity_303 who both lifted and threw her away, straight towards Odina, she tried to stop herself from being crushed, but Lilisheb was to big for that. She was quick to remove herself from Odina though.
Sariel flew in and dropped kicked Entity_303 in the face. Sending him flying. “I’ve never been able to do that!” She said excited, she was pretty happy about having legs right now.
Odina took a look around. “Guys, we’ve come pretty far away from the village and our little golem army. We should be careful.” She said in a bit more worried tone. She looked around and spotted a big lake of lava and ran towards it. “It seems like his biggest skill is in his hax, we could maybe trick him into being pushed into the lava.” She stated. Herobrine soon arrived as well. “That’s a good idea! As Fart Garfunkel said “Let’s cook him up good”.” He stated with a childish smile.
Entity_303 spotted them. They were all standing in a group, Ranamon had joined them as well. He jumped towards them, his scythe standing high, ready to slice down on them as he flies towards them. He was getting near them and he readied to strike, and immediately fell into the lava on his own by accident.
The entire group began to laugh at the sight of what just happened. “Are you serious?” Asked Sariel still laughing. “After all that!” Said Odina chuckling. “FAIL!” Shouted Ranamon. “Again, in the words of Fart Garfunkel; “See what did i say? No skill!”, ha!”. They all continued to laugh, until a hand erupted out of the lava, and Entity_303 started to pull himself out. He was very angry and the others immediately shutted up with the laughing. “I’m sorry, what was that?” He said bitterly. “Nothing.” replied Lilisheb nervously.
Entity_303 charged out of the lava and started to attack again, striking out against Ranamon who was quick to grab Lilisheb and use her as a shield. She in return screamed in fear. “Calm down you’re indestructible!” Said Ranamon, as she just blocked his scythe in time. Lilisheb smacked him away with her large hands, though it barely seemed to do anything to him. Herobrine teleported to Lilisheb. “Put this on.” He said and handed her some diamond armor and a sword. Even if she didn’t really NEED the armor, she’s practically indestructible.
Ranamon was fighting with Entity_303 in a one-on-one fight, and it was here that he spotted something. He wanted to try something, using his hacks, he was able to “corrupt” the everyone, except for Ranamon who seemed to be immune, which was odd, since she should have been the easiest to effect, being made of pure data and all that. It was also here that he noticed her eyes, they were the same as his own.
He teleported himself and Ranamon further away from the others. “Interesting. I didn’t expect to see you again, my daughter.” He said, much to the shock of Ranamon. “What are you talking about? We have no connection, nor have we met before!” She said bitterly. “You don’t think so? Take a look at your eyes and than at mine. I created you, i stole a portion of the ancient legendary warrior of water, combined it with that of a weather program and my very own data. Why else do you think you’re so powerful or have it so easy hacking into anything mechanical? You have inherited that from me.” He said in a chilling, sinister and prideful voice, like a mad scientist who’s a bit to happy about his creation, and Ranamon felt a chill go down her spine. His focus was caught off when a large red claw smacked Entity_303 away. Ranamon looked up and saw two giant monster. Kuwagamon and Kabuterimon. “What are you two doing here?” She asked in surprise. “The scientist of the Task Force X, Soundwave, said you might need help, so he send us to aid you.” Kabuterimon replied. “Took him long enough to open that stupid gate honestly.” Said Kuwagamon. Ranamon looked at them both for a moment. She hoped they could keep themselves calm. Kuwagamon and Kabuterimon had a great known rivalry with each other. She just hoped they could push that aside for now. “Do you two think you can hold him for a bit? I need to make contact with Shockwave.” She asked them, both nodding in response and went after Entity_303 who was fighting Odina and the others.
While all the others were fighting Entity_303, made Ranamon contact with Shockwave. “Shockwave come in. Do you hear me?” She asked over the communicator. “Yes i can hear you. What’s the problem, besides you’re fighting a hacker-god?” Shockwave replied, keeping track of what’s going on from his screen in his lab. “Can you find any info regarding Entity_303 and me? Is it really possible that he is responsible for creating me?” She asked in a slightly worried tone. “I’ll take a look into it. For now, you just focus on trying to get rid of him and this “Null” creature.” He ordered before starting to look up information about the two of them. “Understood.” Ranamon said, before going back to help the others. She still had a bad feeling about this whole ordeal.
Odina ran towards Sariel. “Sariel, can you focus all of you arcane energy into this sword?” She said and pointed at her own blade. Sariel nodded, already knowing what she was planning. Sariel flew into Odina’s sword and it began to glow bright. Odina, now with the charged up sword with Sariel inside, charged forward, while Entity_303 was to busy fighting both Herobrine and Kuwagamon, and impaled him in the back with it.
Entity_303 let out a blood curdling scream, which only grew worse as Sariel started to release herself from the blade, her arcane energy streaming through Entity_303’s entire body. Her began to glow more and more, until he was steaming white like a white dwarf star and exploded like a supernova, sending Odina, Herobrine and all the others flying. Left from where the explosion was, sat only Sariel on the ground, exhausted and tired from what just happened.
Odina went over to her and picked her up. Odina could tell that she was out cold.
Null was still around and with Sariel in this state, she would not be safe. Odina took the opportunity and absorbed Sariel into her body, growing greatly in width and mass. Though not much taller.
Shockwave made contact with Ranamon again. “Ranamon! Null is still there! I’m afraid that you’ll need more than what you’ve got now! I’ll send some digi-orb ups to upgrade you all!” He shouted in what sounded like panic. Ranamon wasn’t sure what was going on, but she could tell that it was going to be very dangerous, and most likely deadly.
They all heard what sounded like clapping, and they looked up and saw Null walk towards them. “Well done,” he said in his calm yet threatening tone, “you managed to defeat Entity_303, at the cost of one of your own. I am very impressed. Herobrine usually is close to dying when he manages to fight him off, but this time, you all made it and only got a little bit tired. Though the question is; are you prepared for nothing?” he stated, before at blinding speed charging into Herobrine and send him flying into a nearby snowy mountain wall. He was gasping for air when he landed, Null had hit him hard, as bits of blood came out of his mouth.
Kuwagamon went on the attack, but Null easily grabbed the large insect’s arm and flung him into Kabuterimon like he was nothing.
Null ran forward, preparing to strike Odina, but Lilisheb jumped in front of her despite her great fears. Null’s fist hit her in the stomach, and for the first time in life, was Lilisheb actually bleeding. Lilisheb looked down in both confusion and horror. She had been on many adventures and had always been categorized as being indestructible, which was why she was always used as a shield even if she didn’t like it, she couldn’t break. She was a shoggoth after all. But right here and right now, she was bleeding, someone actually managed to harm her!
Odina looked in horror as well as her friend was wounded. “I-i don’t understand! Nothing should be able to harm her!” She said in horror.
Null laughed a bit and looked at Odina. “You just said the answer. “Nothing” can hurt her, and i am nothing. I am void. It was out of nothing you all came, and it’s into nothing you all will go. The people of the multiverse are builders, but look into their hearts, and you will find that they also have the power to destroy. I am that power, i am destruction, and i will destroy you. But first a little history lesson. When i say i am nothing, i am being literal. I existed before The Great Four, Azathoth, zeedmillenniummon, Primus and God, even created the omniverse. Shoggoths like Lilisheb over there can’t be hurt by anything that came after The Great Four created the omniverse and the Elder Ones, but since i came before, i am more than capable to hurt creatures such as her. For i am nothing, and nothing can hurt her. As for why i am here, The Great Four didn’t like how i kept consuming the universes they created, so they decided to imprison me here. You may not realize it, but minecraftians are among some of the most powerful creatures in the universe, being capable of lifting multiton of universes like nothing, living on planets that has black holes as their core and so on. Making them both the ultimate wardens, but also makes it so that these pocket worlds are the ones with the least amount of void in them, thus weakening me. Now then, now that i have told you all that. Should we get started?” He said, before preparing to strike again.
Lilisheb was scared and horrified. Sure, she was easily scared before, but this is very real. All the other times, deep down she knew she was indestructible, but not this time. This creature, could actually do her harm, and worse yet, none of them was safe.
Suddenly, two bright lights appeared in the sky, it was the digi-orb ups that Shockwave had send. They flew into both Kabuterimon, Kuwagamon and Ranamon. Their skin seemed to be ripped of, as they all digivolved to the next stage, and the missing skin was replaced with some new, alongside some new features. Ranamon had become a giant, kraken-like digimon called Calmaramon, while Kuwagamon had jumped over the perfect level and gone straight to ultimate, now taking the form of GranKuwagamon, Demon of the Deep Forest. Kabuterimon had done the same as Kuwagamon and went straight to ultimate, becoming HerakleKabuterimon, the Insect Kaiser.
The three digital kaijus jumped at Null, preparing to fight him with everything they got. Meanwhile could Odina feel that Sariel was regaining her strength more and more, growing inside her, causing her body and mass to increase more as well, adding a bit more power to her. Lilisheb, being a shoggoth, is already powerful, but she decided to unlock a greater portion of her power to fight Null, even though she was afraid of losing herself like Cthulhu and so many others did. Herobrine was Herobrine, so he just did what he was already doing.
From beyond the screen was Shockwave watching. He was in full blown panic and not sure what to do. No one else was able to be send in there to aid. Kuwagamon, Kabuterimon and Ranamon was the only digital lifeforms they had in the Task Force X, or at least at the moment, so sending reinforcements was out of the question. His thoughts were everywhere at once, as he watched them all fight Null, punching, smashing, stabbing, slicing, blasting, electrocuting, they threw everything at him. How could Null fight all these powerful creatures at once, and still look like he was having more fun than he was struggling? He was fighting against The Demon of the Deep Forest, the Insect Kaiser, the Legendary Warrior of Water, a powerful and ancient shoggoth, (while true Lilisheb didn’t have much combat experience or instinct, she was still powerful by any standards or meaning), a powerful human being powered by an angel and Herobrine himself, and yet he didn’t seem to slow down at all! It was than Shockwave remembered something that Null had said, and he got an idea. He went to the computer and started hacking every network and computer he could get his hands on.
HerakleKabuterimon, GranKuwagamon, Herobrine, Calmaramon, Odina, Lilisheb and Herobrine all battled Null, but even with their increased powers, they could barely do anything against him.
“It looks like your time is running ou-AARK!!!” Null suddenly shouted. The others looked in surprise as Null suddenly fell to the ground.
“What’s going on?” Asked Odina, and Herobrine looked at her with a smile.
“Calmaramon’s friend has hacked the entire network of Minecraft. He’s causing trillions of new worlds and servers to be spawned in by the second. Null’s powers are drawn from void, and every world and server lessons the amount of void that’s present, not to mention creating a sort of barrier to the void outside of Minecraft.” He replied with a hopeful smile as Null’s powers was weakening thanks to Shockwave’s actions. It wasn’t long before the entire network of Minecraft crashed in on itself, shutting it off from the outside worlds and universes.
“D-does this mean we might be able to defeat him?” Asked Lilisheb, who had begun to lose hope through the fight. The news made it return a little bit.
“Yes.” Answered Herobrine, and prepared his diamond military pickaxe.
Even though Null’s powers had decreased significantly, was he still a powerhouse of a creature.
The earth started to shake, as Null’s head suddenly shot out of his body, attached to a large void tendril. Soon many other tendrils erupted from his body, and the void and shadows flung up into the air. Null was now a whirling vortex of void, shadows and destruction. A screaming mash of tendrils, parts, objects and many other undistinquinsible things that could not be defined. All of it, twisting in and out of itself, going in all directions at once, and seeded out destruction like a horseman of the apocalypse.
Null summoned void-like creatures, that took the form of various creatures or people. Such as creepers, zombies, illagers, rahis, gnaars, skaarjs, aludran reptiloid, siths, demons and orcs, but also people such as Shockwave, Skullgreymon, Darth Vader, Megatron, Myotismon, Vriska, King Highblood, Ultron, Galactus, Thanos, The Joker, Darkseid, Doomsday, Yellow Diamond, White diamond, Cthulhu, Eliphas the Inheritor, Abaddon the Despoiler, Mugendramon and many others from all across the multiverse. There wasn’t one, he didn’t have access too. Including void clones of Odina and the others.
GranKuwagamon looked at HerakleKabuterimon and than at the others. “We’ll take care of Null’s army. The rest of you should finish him off!” He said, before flying towards Null’s army alongside his rival HerakleKabuterimon.
Odina, Lilisheb, Herobrine and Calmarimon looked up at Null’s highly unstable body. Between all the twisting and turning of no-existing mass of tendrils, parts, storms, vortexes and objects, they could see a mask with three holes in each cheek and two larger holes that seemed to be eyes, where dark yellow eyes pieced from, the mask itself was black and grey, almost as if it was infected. Thinking about it, the way the mask looked, reminded Lilisheb of some of the infected items, mostly masks, that made various creatures and people alike turn berserk right before The Cataclysm that tore the multiverse apart started, especially the rahis. Even some of the greatest and noble heroes was turned into killing machines by those things, maybe there was a connection here.
That was a thought for another day though, right now they had to fight in order to survive.
Six wings sprung from Odina’s back. Sariel was back to full power now, and was ready to help! She, along with the others, attacked Null, but kept at a distance, mainly using ranged attacks, in order to avoid being consumed by the endless vortex that was his body. He was far from defenseless though, as he used every weapon in his arsenal against them. Heat vision, laser vision, disintegration, fragmentation, poison, fear, anger, sleep, hunger, lightning, chain lightning, darkness, cyclones, gravity, illusion, confusion, magnetism, Mind Reading, molecular disruption, plantlife, plasma, Slowness, Sonics, stasis field, teleportation, vacuum, weather control, power scream and many more, he used them all!
suffice to say, after just a few minutes of fighting, where Odina and her friends already bleeding and gasping for air. This was not looking good.
Odina looked at Herobrine, he was laying on the floor, with his weapon besides him. She picked it up. She helped him up on his feet before giving it back. They all got up again and looked at Null, they could almost tell that he was gloating, as he openly showed his mask.
This was the opportunity they had unknowingly waited for, Odina just needed to give one look to the others and they knew what she wanted.
Odina took her blade, and filled all of Sariel’s energy into it before blasting it out in a beam of pure arcane energy. Lilisheb did her best to collect as much eldritch magic as she could, before following Odina’s footsteps and blasted it all towards Null’s mask. Calmaramon used one of WarGreymon X’s abilities and summoned the biggest Poseidon Force she could possibly manage before firing it at the direction of Null’s mask. Both GranKuwagamon and HerakleKabuterimon had been overrun by Null’s army despite their best effort, every time they had killed a thousand, a million more was ready to take their place, but GranKuwagamon aimed at Null and fires a barrage of explosive beams from his wings called “catastrophe”, as well as a large plast from his mouth called “dimension scissors” in the shape of its pincers. While HerakleKabuterimon fires his Giga Blaster. Lastly, Herobrine poured all of his strength and power into his diamond military war pickaxe and began to spin it around for a throw. All the beams fired hits Null’s mask, causing the entire whiling vortex that was his body to vibrate violently, and finally throws Herobrine his pickaxe with all his might and it hits Null right in the center. A loud crack can be heard, and soon the explosion disappears, and the pickaxe drops to the floor.
“You can’t destroy me. For i am, Nothing.” Null called one final time before the vortex, as well as the shadows, disappeared. Null was gone. At least it seemed so.
The army that had swarmed GranKuwagamon and HerakleKabuterimon had disappeared as well. The sky was clear once more, they all looked around. None of them could feel or sense the presence of Null anywhere.
A bright light began to appear and Odina felt herself suddenly being sucked through it, and not to soon after, she and Sariel had been separated and sat back on the couch in front of the tv-screen once more.
Odina looked down at herself, was it all a dream? No, the cuts and slashes was still there. She would have to get the blood cleaned up from her clothes after this, but for now, she just wanted so badly to relax now that this, in her opinion at least, stupid adventure was over! This had to be the one where she was the closest to dying, and properly also the most traumatising. Though she couldn’t relax yet, as the tv jerked and moved. “What now?” She asked annoyed and irritated.
Suddenly was Herobrine shot out of it and landed on the floor. He awkwardly got on his feet and looked down at himself, he almost seemed to cry, and Sariel couldn’t blame him. “I’m finally free!” He said in an overjoyed voice. Though his joy was interrupted when Ranamon was shot through the tv and hit him in the back, causing both to fall to the floor. “Sorry about that!” She said as she rose up, before realizing something. She was still in her original form, in the real world! Whenever digimons interact with the real world, after the barrier between the two worlds got thickened by a lot, it often has to be done through robots and such, to which they could upload and store their data into. There was only either a few cases or “loopholes” in which a digimon can enter the real world in their real forms. She wasn’t sure how, but apparently she had found one.
After a few seconds was it Lilishebs turn, her massive body hit all four of them when she was shot out, mushing them all under her soft body, yet big, body. She rose up quickly, looking down at herself. This so called “adventure”, had been the hardest for her out of everyone involved. There was still a few scars were blood could be seen. Odina and the others could understand if she wanted to stay hidden from the world or something for a while, because it was indeed terrifying. Sariel did her best to begin healing both Odina’s and Lilisheb’s wounds.
It was than Ranamon heard something and looked at the tv. It was pretty much jumping until it landed on it’s back, and she knew what was about to happen, she had completely forgotten about the other two! And now was both Kabuterimon and Kuwagamon, who both had returned to their normal forms like Ranamon had, erupting out of the tv, crashing right through the roof, like the kaijus they were, causing a little bit of panic to the people outside who saw them just suddenly erupt out of the building. Digimons weren’t, as stated before, commonly seen outside of their robot suits, and so it could cause a bit of panic when these semi-eldritch creatures suddenly appear in their true forms. Not to mention that the kuwagamon-specie is known for their aggressive nature and hunting habits.
Ranamon looked at the others in the room. Odina looked like she was about to explode. “Well, uh, i guess i gotta go, before people start calling the special forces on me and my friends.” She said in an awkward tone as she grabbed her phone. “Shockwave, please get us out of here and back to base. FAST!” she said in a slightly panicy tone. Soon enough, a purple train appeared, and Ranamon jumped inside, while Kabuterimon and Kuwagamon had to sit on the roof of it. Soon, the train, along with the three digimons, disappeared once again, leaving Odina and the others alone back in her half destroyed home.
“I’m so fucking happy this is over!” Odina said frustrated. “I kinda have to agree.” Said Sariel. Lilisheb simply nodded. Odina turned off the council and went to bed, while Lilisheb just laid down on the couch and began to read something random. She just grabbed a random book, which turned out to be a Donald Duck comic. Sariel went into the kitchen and prepared some coffee, and took some into Odina as well. She put Odina’s cup on the table, while she put her own on the drawer next to the bed. “That sure was something.” She said, looking at Odina who was still pretty angry. “Honestly, it was only because of you and Lilisheb that it was bearable.” Odina said out loud. “Want some Sari-pats?” asked Sariel. “Sure.” Odina answered with a little smile, as Sariel began to gently pat her. They were both exhausted and neither of them noticed that they both dozed of to sleep before long. There would be a bit of confusion the next morning though.
Meanwhile, back at the Task Force X’s headquarters, was Ranamon sitting with Shockwave. She looked rather worried. She finally rose her head and looked at Shockwave. “Is it true that Entity_303 is my father?” She asked concerned. Shockwave looked at her before talking. “Yes, that is true, but it shouldn’t matter. He wasn’t in your life up until now, and just because you have his eyes, doesn’t mean you have his soul. Your soul is your own, not his, yours. He is not close to be a family to you, even if you two share data, he is not your father!” Explained Shockwave, and he was kinda right. When it came to people she knew, Shockwave and Reyes both kinda felt like fathers to her, as they both took care of her and looked after her, even if Reyes’ dad-jokes can become quite annoying. Seriously most of the organizations founding comes from a “dad-joke jar” made specifically for him.
Ranamon looked up at Shockwave. “Thanks.” She simply said. “No problem kid.” He replied, as he watched her leave the room, most likely to either go relax after everything that happened, or to got to Harley Quinn for her therapist session. Shockwave knew though, that this would be a bit of a hard blow for her. He just hoped she could pull through.
(Twitchy thoughts!
this was an excellent read; thank you for going to the effort of writing this; it came out quite well and is an excellent, fun read!
You pretty much nailed Odina’s personality and how she generally interacts with others, and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of the mods she mentions; I’ll probably wind up using them myself, should i ever play minecraft on the PC. her relationship with Sariel is very good and has a good contrast/complement vibe.
The huge fight, the scope going on here and the somewhat existential threat is the most true thing of Crossthicc’s vibe I can think of. This is how it should be going, honestly! Big, epic fights against cosmically horrifying entities of mysterious purpose and origin
from what i’ve gathered, Null drops some sort of hint or reference but, honestly, it went over my head? sorry, I’m not good at reading into things or noticing sub-text
minor side note; given that Herobrine isn’t actually a character in minecraft, you could make the argument that there are digital worlds within video games, perhaps using the basis of the game (mechanics and/or setting) to form the foundation of the world? good way to either do Digimon or having a similar set up?

USUM, its Story’s message and how this intermingles with SM’s actual message.
A lot of people have the misconception that the message of SM is standing up to your abuser and taking life into your own hands. After all, the first half of that happens when Lillie called Lusamine out.
A lot of those people tend to willingly forget the reason that Lillie wanted to go into Ultra Space and the things that happened after that showdown.
Lillie’s real reason to go into Ultra Deep Sea was to save Lusamine from herself. The damage on Alola was already done, was ignored and all of Lillie’s growing self confident/ inspiration from you the trainer was more her taking life into her own hands.
After Lillie had Nebby separate Lusamine from Nihilego, that woman said a few pleasant words and Lillie... automatically forgiven her, decided to go to Kanto to help Lusamine recover and leave her newly found friends/ family to go back to her mother... who still didn’t understand what she did wrong. The fact that the only reason Lusamine didn’t go to your champions party was because she was sick and not... because she put everyone in danger and tried to kill you, makes all of it pretty creepy and wrong.
It is pokemon, Lillie and Bill ARE able to find a way to heal Lusamine. Sacred Ash’s are a thing and it is strong stuff.
Meaning that despite everything... Lusamine got off scott free for her actions, her and the whole of the Aether Foundation (As we seen in the post game.). The writers also forgotten about Gladion and he became acting president, running the very place he and Lillie were abused in. The very place he and Null wanted to leave forever. This was a grim conclusion for him, he wasn’t taking responsibility, he was just back in the hell he was in... because Wicke didn’t take the damn job herself.
As emotional as Lillie’s goodbye was, it botched its own supposed message of standing up to your abuser and taking life into your own hands. It undid a large chunk of her character growth, it left us with no real closure or hints that she was going to be fine considering how bleeping awful Lusamine was and now Lillie is back with her. This is a dangerous message for kids and the fact many players blocked this part out... disturbs me.
I think Gamefreak noticed this and changed things around in USUM... it was minor changes that contributed to a larger picture and contributed to giving out its message... what is to me, better.
The narrative shift and where the changes went to... was USUM’s attempt at becoming its own, despite running through the same beats as to SM. Lusamine had Mohn trauma, did horrible things in her attempt at keeping things the same/ refusing to let things go, Gladion got fed up with it, stole Type:Null... ran. Lusamine became more frantic and done things to the Cosmog, Lillie noticed... saw it as inexcusably wrong... stole it and ran.
This part was 3 months prior to the events of the games, before you came to Alola.
Like in SM, we see Lillie as a timid girl that wasn’t able to do much on her own, had anxiety for days, yet kept being inspired by the trainers around her... and you the new trainer who was accomplishing the impossible.
This... leads to a similar build on both games having a recurring theme. You having the strength to do something and having an influence on her and those around you. Much like how Hau was having an influence on Gladion, how Guzma was one to those around his grunts and putting the last one in a negative light, how Lusamine was a negative influence on her children. (Through years of neglect/ emotional abuse.)
When we reach Aether Paradise the second time, we are told and seen just the kind of crushing influence Lusamine had on her kids. How she was quick to tear down on her daughter for running off and going against her wishes... for thinking for herself. (Lusamine’s goal in USUM might be trying to beat Necrozma... but she was doing it her way, a way that did endanger Alola, she was someone who was doing it for her own reasons and that is what the Ultra Recon Squad got pissed off about when she went Leeroy Jenkins.)
This becomes more apparent when Lillie and Gladion’s pleas to her fell on the ears of someone who was thinking it was her way or the highway. She tried to battle you as a way to get her kids to shut up. Lillie was helpless once again in trying to do something to protect Nebby. (Grant it in SM, Gladion and Hau were part of a battle royal against many things and that scene was more crazy in comparison.) How Gladion was once again.... unable to do something to stop another one of his family from being lost into Ultra Space.
After which, you left Lillie alone to think things over. ...
The next day, Lillie cast aside her old clothes, her mother’s overbearing shadow and put on her Z Powered form. Accumulation of you and everyone from Alola inspiring her to make that next step towards becoming her own.
That is when you and Lillie take that journey to Poni Island, where you and Lillie have a goal in mind. Get Lusamine off her high horse and confront Necrozma as a unified force.
While I didn’t like how Exeggutor Island was removed, that scene can be put into its message of how you were inspiring Lillie. She remembers that sweet moment with her mother and came to the decision in becoming a trainer. I’ll get to where this went later.) The rest of the journey played out as is, Lillie had the confidence needed to face things that would have scared her before and the desire to face her mother again. All because you inspired her. In turn, you also inspired the Ultra Recon Squad into thinking that they really need to start fighting their own battles and are willing to work with you to deal with Necrozma.
Once you reach past Poni Canyon, the two of you blow the flute and evolve Nebby. The scene plays out like in SM and with the same spirit, Lillie wanting to confront her mother... in SM we got to see that among seeing Lillie use that inspiration to call her out. But note the things I mentioned that happened after.
In USUM... Necrozma punted Lusamine and Guzma out, ate Nebby and things go off the rails. The Ultra Recon Squad lend you the opposite of Nebby and you take the reigns of the legendary they were friends with. (Though it was stated the URS didn’t have real control over it, it was able to listen to a trainer with strong enough will power.)
You go off and be the hero once more... leaving Lillie and the URS to tear at Lusamine. This was off screen, but when you come back... you end up seeing the aftermath, Lillie... with her newfound strength, got Lusamine to have a change of heart... influencing that woman to change her ways. The mother and daughter have an understanding of each other.
It isn’t as emotional since we didn’t get to see the whole thing, but we see Lillie being able to begin a new start in her family relationship. After which, the mother and daughter go back to Aether Paradise to tend to Nebby.
This also brings Guzma’s quote to consideration, something that Hala tried to teach Guzma in SM’s post game. “Maybe if you bring out the best in others, you bring out the best in yourself.”
There you go! That is USUM’s message and to an extent, SM’s true message since you brought out the best of Lillie. I personally believe this message was better executed in USUM since it affected much more people and we got to see it stick.
Because it isn’t just you that was bringing out that. It becomes apparent during Mina’s trial when you next see Guzma.... you and Hau inspiring him to get his head out of his ass and make something of himself.
This becomes repeated when you see Gladion, who got inspired by you and Hau to find out just where real friendship can get ya. You see this in his Crobat, Lucario and Silvally.
You are then told to go to Mahalo trial where you meet Lillie... with a healed Nebby. She got more inspired to part ways with her friend, under more logical reasons... like helping Necrozma. Lillie became inspired and strong enough to let go of her past, to let Nebby go... much like in SM... only this is better executed due to where I am going to get to soon.
You and your strength also has an influence on even the Big Bad of USUM... Necrozma. You have the tools and the power... to ease his ever lasting pain, to hopefully... one day, restore him to his prime and possibly make a difference for the people of Ultra Megaopolis.
Necrozma took their light and they are stuck in something they didn’t want... but maybe in time, they will get a happy ending.
You find your influence comes again at the Pokemon League, where Hau got inspired by your constant beat downs of him to take things more seriously.
Seriously enough that he became the final boss. As a rival should have been. You brought out the best in Hau.
You beat him and the credits role, its all find and dandy, especially when you see Gladion go off to Kanto, he got inspired by watching you and Hau to find his own way to get stronger and protect those he held dear. It isn’t as emotional as Lillie’s goodbye... but that isn’t why it was so good, on his way out... he saw Lusamine showing up in the distance. He was initially scared of her being there... until he saw her waving goodbye to him, something affected Lusamine to give her a full change of heart.
In the post game, if you go to Aether Paradise and visit that woman before RR. She has an identity crisis, Necrozma kicking her ass and bringing havoc on Alola and the things Lillie said to her... gave her a self reflection of some kind. That she was god awful as a person, who is in no position to face anyone after the things she did, no position to be a mother to her children or to the pokemon she was suppose to care for.
She had this crisis in between the prelude to RR and the end of RR. Where she was going to come clean to the people of Alola and tell them what really happened and what was going to happen to prevent another Necrozma like incident from happening again. Then came RR and Lusamine in her stubbornness, tried to stop Giovanni and got knocked out... becoming a damsel of some way. This is karma at its finest due to how for most of USUM, (and a lesser extend SM where she was the big bad.) she was the one knocking other people down to do what ever she wants.
Then you the hero come in to get RR out of Alola. Lillie is there and unlike from before, the courage she gathered has given her the final step needed to her full blossoming. Into a trainer, she kicked a RR grunts butt and followed you to the castle. Where she was willing to fight with you against a treacherous Faba and an employee. Lillie sent out her Clefairy and if you know what you are doing, that Clefairy is SO good as a support. The two of you kicked Faba’s butt and go into the castle, despite how Lillie was still scared as hell in going against Team Rainbow Rocket. You and everyone’s influence... lead to moments like this.
You also get to see Guzma’s change of heart in full as he too helped you take on RR. Of course, Lillie has only started as a trainer, so reality ensues, this is as far as she can go in directly helping you and she waits in what was her mother’s room while you do the rest.
But that isn’t to say that this Lillie became a wimp again, she had enough balls to talk back against freaking Ghetsis... and got held hostage as a result. (Not that she was pleading.) In fact, Lillie’s presence in RR is a visual of the end result of her growth, she was more that willing to do her part in stopping RR and rescue her mother.
This... this is one of the highlights of Lillie’s growth in USUM. Being inspired to become strong and protect those close to her. (Much like what Gladion was doing and much like what Lusamine... attempted to do but went completely the wrong way to where it became abuse.)
Then you beat Giovanni, the day is saved and Lillie gives a cute confession to you the player. Much like in Exeggutor Island from SM and go back home.
Then comes the aftermath of RR. Where if you visit Aether Paradise... Lusamine has a resolve in what to do with her life. Vowing to love her kids from a distance without interfering with their lives. Those frozen pokemon that were there at the end of RR are scheduled to be thawed out.. Lusamine is making amends for those she had hurt. The things she had to say in title defense... showed that you and Lillie brought a change in her heart... enough that she gets... why you were able to make a difference in her kids lives. Enough that she understands her kids a bit more.
Then came a month later, where Gladion returns with his newfound strength and takes you on. All seems normal until you visit Aether Paradise again, where Lusamine meets Mohn again. It seems like a pleasant conversation, but Mohn doesn’t recognize his own wife... Lusamine is hiding her heart break and in a final sign of her growth... she lets Mohn go... lets the past go. This was the height of Lusamine’s growth in USUM, she learned to let go of the past and focus on becoming a better person.
Gladion being on better terms with his mother that he visits time and again, but still being let out to do things of his own. Shows that he and Silvally are inspired and free to do their own thing, no longer bound by the past.
Lillie, went back to Kukui and Burnet. You the player can visit her AND she becomes your partner in the Battle Tree... as one of the best supporters in that place. Which fits with Lillie’s character as someone who doesn’t want pokemon to get hurt and thus does everything possible to ease your pokemon’s pain. Lillie is on Alola with the new friends and family she made, living her life as a trainer. Because you the player.. along with those Lillie met... have inspired her to make that leap. To her... if you are able to do the impossible, then so can she.
“Maybe if you bring out the best in others, you bring out the best in yourself.”
That is the message of USUM and the message SM tried to tell us.
The closure USUM gave, delivered this message in ways that SM didn’t when they had the story end where it should have continued.
It is pretty sad how so many of the fan base didn’t get that message in SM, thought it was something else (though to be fair it is an extension of that message.) and hate on USUM’s story for making the message more clear.
Even if USUM didn’t give us as much of those heart felt moments with Lillie. It delivered its message much more clear.

Word Count: 2178 Characters: Jurr Jinn and @cinlat‘s Kadu Jadon & Fynta wolfe Series: Jedi Sitters A/N: For those not familiar with Jurr, she was in an accident as a child that caused brain damage and her memory is solely dependent on implants. Jedi Master Kadu Jadon is a healer who specializes with cases such as Jurr’s who need round the clock medical supervision. (Totally stole this from @cinlat‘s first story about these two adorable characters because it explains them so well. I took her banner too, cause these two are so cute and I love how Jurr is looking at him here.)
Cinlat wrote this wonderful story about Kadu’s pining for Jurr and I just had to write them meeting, and how much Jurr does not like the idea.
Jurr had to force herself not to run across the hanger toward the Thunderclap. To say she was excited about her new posting would have been an understatement. Part of her still thought this was a dream and that if she pinched herself she’d wake to find herself back in the Coruscant barracks that had been her home since her last deployment had ended. Her assignments were never long term, every CO she’d ever had felt she was a risk to the rest of the team and would dispute her posting with HQ until she was shuffled back into the mix of other soldiers with no permanent assignment.
This time would be different. Thanks to a chance encounter with Fynta Wolfe, the commander of Havoc Squad, that had turned into as much of a friendship as Jurr was able to maintain had helped her land the mother of all promotions.
Commanding Officer of Havoc Squad. Spec Ops. The best of the best.
Part of Jurr was terrified, unsure how she could ever be good enough to fill the Major’s role and the other couldn’t wait to start. She’d have a place, with no one to complain to HQ until they sent her away. Instead of being the liability she would have to be the backbone of her team.
It was going to be hard, but she could do it. She had to, the constant shifting around was slowly killing her.
In the end she managed to keep her dignity as she approached the ship with only the lopsided grin on her face hinting at how eager she felt. Jurr had been on the Fury before, after a rather rowdy bar fight ended up with her nose broken. Fynta had been thoughtful enough to have her medic tend to it. The woman did a great job too, Jurr’s nose was as straight as ever.
Major Fynta Wolfe was waiting for her in the main room of the Fury along with the Cathar male Jurr might have remembered being introduced to.
The blonde woman grinned when Jurr walked in, meeting her in the middle of the room to clap Jurr’s shoulder with her hand.
“Good to see you again Major,” she said with a grin before turning to the Cathar. “Sorry I’m terrible with names…” Jurr let her voice trail off, hoping to prompt him to fill in the blank.
“Kadu Jadon,” he supplied, holding out his hand. Jurr took it in her’s and was surprised by how much warmth she could feel. “It’s good to finally meet you, Trev talks about you often.”
Jurr almost dropped his hand in shock. “You know Trev?”
Kadu smiled at her reaction. “I do, we have been friends for a long time. If even half of what he says is true it’s going to be a pleasure working with you.”
She stepped back, eye narrowing into a glare as she turned to face Fynta again. “Excuse me? I thought I was getting to put together my own crew.”
Fynta grimaced. “You will, Garza just wanted me to put forth some names and well, Kadu here is part of the deal.”
Jurr crossed her arms tightly, her heart suddenly pounding at the implication of Fynta’s words. “Are you saying that there are conditions to my promotion?”
“It wasn’t my idea but yes.” Fynta gestured at Kadu, “he’s a Jedi healer that’s going to look after your health while in the field.”
Jurr saw red. This was so far out of line she couldn’t even think of a good comparison for it.
She was an adult damnit. A Captain in the Republic Military!
She did not need a babysitter.
It didn’t matter to her that he was a jedi, or a healer, he was there to babysit her and that was unacceptable. The nerve of that… Jurr paused in her internal tirade to take a few deep breaths before she said something she would regret to one of the very few friends she had.
Fynta Wolfe had done her a solid, recommending her for the positing of Havoc CO. HAVOC. Jurr wasn’t sure there were words for what a big deal that was to her. She had never expected her career to go far. When she made Captain she was told it was the farthest up the chain she qualified for, with her disability.
Not for the first time she wondered how different her life could be if she just wasn’t broken. Oh the doors that would open for her. She would know so much about herself that she couldn’t answer now, like her name or date of birth. Who knew how far her career could go then, she had a natural aptitude for soldiering after all. Hell she might not even been a soldier and maybe, maybe if she hadn’t been in that accident, she would have a family. Or a face that didn’t look like it had been run over by a speeder because, well, it kind of was.
Without these drawbacks all the things she knew she would never have, like love, would be possible.
And now her dream promotion was being tainted by the same blemish on her life.
“Jurr?”
Fynta’s voice pulled her out of her sulking and she spun around to fix the major with a one eyed glare.
“I do not need a babysitter.”
“He isn’t a babysitter.” Fynta retored, gesturing at the Cathar standing next to her, bag still slung over his shoulder.
“Then what is he?”
“He is a doctor, a healer Jurr, and a warrior.” Fynta stepped closer, “and he is here on Trev’s recommendation.”
“Why can’t I just have Trev with me?” Jurr didn’t care that she was actively whining now. The unfairness of the situation had her on the edge of an emotional breakdown.
“You know why, Trev has his own posting and none of the special skill Kadu has.” Fynta sighed. “Jurr you are making me be the reasonable one here and I don’t like it.”
Jurr folded her arms over her chest. “Easy for you to say, you're not the one who isn’t trusted without a minder.”
“What do you call Jorgan?”
Jurr looked up at her skeptically, “I hardly think the two things compare, do you?”
“Would you want it to?” Fynta asked with mischievous smile. Jurr’s face fell and Fynta knew she had crossed a line she shouldn’t have. She hadn’t come prepared to deal with the kind of emotions she could see the younger woman trying to hide and realized she was going to see some backup if this transition of power was going to go smoothly.
Crossing the room, Fynta punched in a holofrequency she had used several times recently to help get Jurr’s promotion set in stone. The holo only rang twice before it was answered, displaying a holographic image of a young man with more visible implants than even Jurr possessed.
“Hey Major, this is an unexpected surprise.”
Skipping all plesentaries, Fynta got right to the point. “Trev I need you to explain our arrangements to Jurr, I’m not in the mood to argue with her.”
Kadu was surprised by the sudden concern on the other Jedi’s face.
“Where is she?” he asked, not bothering to ask for any details about why he was needed to help explain the situation.
Fynta grabbed Jurr by the upper arm and hauled her in front of the holo. She had just turned to snap at the manhandling when Trev smiled and said, “what’s new, JJ?”
Kadu watched in fascination, sensing the sudden flare of the Force in a woman who he swore was a null a moment before, as the aggravation on her face melted and the tension in her posture released.
“Trev,” she said with a smile, “what are you doing here?”
Trev looked past her toward Fynta, “can you give us a moment?”
“Of course, we will just be over here,” she said, ushering Kadu toward the conference room. Once they were inside Fynta grimaced. “Sorry about that, I told Jurr about you but as you can see, her memory issues aren’t exaggerated.”
Kadu nodded and set his bag down before leaning back against one of the tables. “Is she going to accept me on the squad, or should I look forward to an argument everytime she sees me?”
Fynta shrugged. “Honestly, I don’t know. Jurr’s memory can be so unpredictable sometimes it’s hard to know if she will recall someone or not. The only advice I can give you is that the more she interacts with someone the more likely she will remember them.”
The holo clipped to the soldier’s belt chimed and she pulled it off to check the incoming frequency. “I need to take this, I’ll be back and hopefully Trev can calm her down.”
Kadu watched her leave the room before sighing. He had taken this assignment as a favor to his friend, but Trev had failed to mention that the Jurr he always spoke so fondly of would hate the idea. He hoped the man could soothe her concerns away because, honestly, the healer in him was fascinated by what little he knew of her condition.
As the silence of the conference room settled around him, Kadu could hear the conversation from the other room. He didn’t particularly like eavesdropping, but short of plugging his ears there was little he could do to prevent his acute hearing from picking things up.
“Trev you don’t understand,” Jurr said from the other room, sounding obviously frustrated.
“Then I need you to explain it to me,” Trev said with far more patience than Kadu ever imagined he had. “I thought this promotion was something you wanted.”
“It is,” she sighed, “but I don’t want my entire life to be dictated by how broken I am.” The tone of her voice made Kadu wish he could see her face, to see if he was imagining the pain there.
“You are not broken Jurr,” Trev said firmly. “You’re are just a little different, that’s all.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” Jurr said as Kadu decided to chance moving closer to the door. If he was going to hear their entire discussion, he might as well see it to give himself a better measure of the woman whose health he would soon be in charge of. “You’re implants don’t hold you back the way mine do.”
“I know, but you can’t let that stop you Jurr.” Trev smiled kindly, “if you do then you’re letting it win.”
“Doesn’t mean I have to like it.” Jurr crossed her arms, “honestly Trev if I had anywhere else to go I think I’d just bag this whole army thing.” She tried not to think about how lost she would be without the military and that, if she managed to live long enough to retire the way Fynta had, she would probably have to return to the doctors and their experiments for lack of a home to return to.
“You don't mean that Jurr, you love being a soldier. The traveling and getting to help people, and don't even try to say you don’t love blowing things up.”
She tried not to smile, annoyed that he had seen through her bluff. “I do I just… I’m tired Trev. I’m tired of being shuffled around because no one wants to deal with me, and being treated like an invalid and a liability. Half my COs wouldn’t even listen to my ideas because they doubt my ability to think critically.”
“That’s why this is such a good opportunity for you. You will be the the CO, no more being shuffled around and Kadu is a good man. He’s been my friend for years.” Jurr looked away from Trev with a petulant expression on her face. “Jurr look at me.”
Reluctantly she turned back to his holo with a frown.
“I know this is hard to accept, but I had a really good feeling about this.” Trev smiled, “such a good one that I send you a package of your favorites.”
Jurr’s face lit up in a grin, “really? Will it be here soon?”
“It should be yes, but you can only have it if you accept the position and be nice to Kadu.”
Her grin turned back into a frown. “How ‘nice’ do I need to be?”
Trev laughed as Fynta walked back into the room, her own holocall over. “Just don’t shoot him and we have a deal.”
“Deal.”
“Oh good, you talked some sense into her.” Fynta smiled as she gave Jurr a friendly punch to the shoulder, before waving Kadu back unto the room. “You’ll see. This is going to be good.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Jurr grumbled, looking over at Kadu before a mischievous gleam entered her eye. “If you think keeping up with me is going to be easy, you are in for a surprise.”
Kadu wasn’t sure if he was concerned by the look in her eye, or excited, but he was looking forward to finding out.

Travelling to King’s Row
Overwatch is set in future earth, approximately 2076, several decades after the Omnic Crisis and we learn through the design of the maps how several countries dealt with the attacks from omnics and Talon (a terrorist organisation bent on wreaking havoc in the world) as well as how the fallout has affected their respective countries in present time. First up we’re visiting England, London. A map by the name of King’s Row and it was one of the first few maps that were developed for the game because of course, London’s always been an interesting and iconic location in pop culture.
Tumblr media
King’s Row
Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress The image above shows a gloomy, rainy (these two adjectives seem to be what most English people use to describe London in real life as well apparently) and futuristic depiction of England. Right off the bat, you can immediately tell it is England due to the iconic items that can only be found in England such as the red double decker bus, Big Ben, the architecture of the buildings and not pictured here but the red telephone booth. To the left you’ll see a bookshop and the right a theatre named The Meridian where Tekhartha Mondatta (a pacifist omnic and the leader of the Shambali, a group comprised of omnics that achieved ‘spiritual awakening’) was preaching about omnics and humans coexisting before he was unfortunately assassinated by Widowmaker, an agent of Talon (that terrorist organization I mentioned earlier).
Tumblr media
Mondatta gets shot by Widowmaker, inches away from the vehicle that would have driven him away to safety. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Animated Short | “Alive” After this unfortunate incident, a statue of Mondatta holding a little girl’s hand was erected in the middle of the city for all to see, especially for tourists as the statue is placed directly in front of the Alderworth Hotel. The statue now serves as a reminder and hope for many people around the world, a hope that one day humanity will come to live in peace with their omnic brethren.
Tumblr media
Rest in peace, Mondatta. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress Mondatta was a symbol of hope for many omnics around the globe, but particularly for those in King’s Row due to the mistreatment of omnics there. To provide a little context and backstory, since the end of the Omnic Crisis, omnic-human relations have tensed up with humans unwilling to believe these omnics wouldn’t rise above and plot against humanity again. This tension is particularly present in King’s Row, with its citizens treating omnics as lesser than; not wanting omnics to have equal rights as humans. Riots and protests broke out and the omnics were eventually driven to live beneath the city, literally beneath the city.

Tumblr media
The Underworld, where omnics are forced to reside. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Archive Fandom The tensions later eased following Mondatta’s teachings in King’s Row, so much so that Mondatta was invited to a groundbreaking ceremony of Turing Green SWO (a development plan for omnic housing in King’s Row).
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Null Troopers raining from the sky. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Fandom The terrorist group was defeated by Overwatch agents but the damage has been done, the tension amongst omnics and humans have never been higher at this point in time until Mondatta’s assasination, which had further escalated it. Side note: The fogginess and the overall atmosphere feels “England”. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it’s very steampunky, very industrial feeling. Well that’s also because the last part of the map is literally an industrial power plant.
Tumblr media
Power plant in King’s Row, it’s also where the Underworld is. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress The colours, the aesthetic, steam punk fans would especially love this map. I think that’s all I’m going to talk about for this map, if there’s anything I wanted to elaborate on more I’ll make a second post on King’s Row!

Resentments
This is partially written in response to a Tumblr prompt list shared by @ct-1994. The prompt quote was "That you survived at all is a credit."
Secondarily, I began drafting this before Memorial Day. Parts were written in honor.
It took me WAY TOO LONG to get this done.
rating: M
...
3 weeks after the Second Battle of Kamino
22 BBY
At the asscrack of dawn, three weeks after the Defense of Kamino, Colt stood alone in the main hanger bay, surveying the newly repaired outer wall. He was alone except for his resentments.
The first was directed at the upper echelons of CFTRADCOM, who hadn’t seen fit to request his presence for selection of the new commander of the forthcoming Security Force. Effectively, the aforementioned would become Havoc’s replacement. No doubt he would do the job well. But Colt had no intention of making it easy for him. Not while he stood there, in the very spot he’d knelt that night when the sea came roaring in through the walls.
Colt was aware of a few methods that the GAR held in its back pocket—a few cruel and creative ways of ramming the Alphas where it hurt the most. Desk jockey assignment caused a large amount of chafing. Stationing too many of them at the same command smarted even more.
The Alphas did not cling together like rabid pack animals the way the Nulls did: joined at the hip at every opportunity, and just as likely to be joined at the dick, if scuttlebutt proved anything to go by. Some of the more irreverent among the Rancor Four wondered what exactly Kal Skirata got out of the arrangement with his favorite boys.
All conjecture, of course, and Colt had preferred to leave the glorious task of turning the rumor mill to Havoc, who’d long ago amended his personal SOP to include keeping Kamino’s scumwater fresh.
Alphas flourished with plenty of room to roam. They left an impression, but rarely because of their charm.
On the other hand, those lucky enough to win an Alpha's loyalty might find it harder to crack than Walon Vau’s Commando course.
Levity had always been Havoc’s arena. Colt stood there in the hanger bay, listening to the cries of the Aiwha, stretching his eyes over the oddly smooth outer wall, thinking of the last time Havoc had made him laugh. He’d been forced to absorb a flagrant story of General Skywalker caught with this pants down, in a loading dock with two ARC troopers. The Jedi had the balls of a krayt dragon—Colt had to give him that. Skywalker’s name frequented his HUD via the scroll of Havoc’s notices at an alarming pace. His infamy was generally scorned among the Alpha community; he was relegated to the butt of their jokes as often as he was praised among the Regs.
“Look who’s talking,” Shaak Ti had whispered to him, upon overhearing their gossip. Colt shivered as her breath tickled his ear, and he'd decided to close his mouth on the subject.
Havoc’s absence festered, and so did the arrival of the new Security Commander. Progress had stung Colt before, but never had it torn at him like it did in the wake of Havoc’s death, like a hungry rancor with its prey. Alphas could be arrogant and lonesome, but never heartless.
In the final throes of last month's GAR Ball on Coruscant, Shaak Ti had caught him with bits of food left on his plate after dinner.
“Colt, you didn’t finish your meal,” she’d said, tilting white lips, looking at him from under her lashes. He wanted to eat her when she looked at him that way—entirely unconcerned about his health.
“I did. That’s for the fallen soldiers,” he’d told her. And Colt regularly saved up his gett’se in the same manner—for times like this, when others floundered among the ruins, stumbling in the winds of change.
The place where Havoc had fallen remained unchanged, however. At least to the outside eye.
Nothing in particular was wrong with the new Security Force. Only that they had been assigned a mere three weeks after the battle. Enough time to clean up the fallen. Enough time for maintenance droids to repair the extensive damage to the exterior of the hanger bay. Enough time for Shaak Ti to make a trip to Coruscant and back, to confer with the Jedi council, consult HOMESEC, and return with the Commander of the new Kamino Security Force.
Not enough time for Commander Colt to stop his visits to the spot where Havoc had fallen, shot down at close range by aqua droids.
Though his body was moved the very same day, Colt stared at the spot as if he still lay there. He found him in the aftermath, still swallowing thickly through his own swollen throat, trying to convince himself that he wasn’t suffocating. Havoc’s blue pauldron stuck out at an angle among the fallen. Phase two armor drew Colt's eyes automatically, flamboyant among the white and black bodies that littered the area. It had grown even more difficult to breathe, but he moved mechanically to his brother’s side, turning him gently, kneeling beside him, holding him tightly against his hip.
He raised his comm, staring at Havoc’s mangled helmet.
“Blitz here. ”
“Vod, it’s Colt. I found Havoc.”
“Status?”
“He’s…down. KIA.”
His voice sounded flat, but his hand trembled on Havoc’s belt. The in and out of Blitz’s breath crackling over the comm was the only reply. For several minutes, he held up his arm, waiting. As Blitz’s breath hitched, his own finally caught up with him, and he closed his eyes against sudden tears.
Havoc, of course, lay still and silent.
Colt’s skin prickled as he remembered. As he did every morning.
Ni su’cuyi, gar kyr’adyc.
I’m alive, and you are dead.

Talon: Clawing to the Top
Alright, everyone, craziness went down today, but one of the things I’m most HYPED about is the confirmation that Talon is run by a council of leaders.
Most importantly, these leaders disagree with each other.
This is a big deal.  We know so little about Talon’s structure that it’s great to finally get some news on the internal hierarchy of the organization.  Some of the things I’ve pulled together are statements or implications made by Blizzard, some of it is just putting the pieces together, and a lot of it is pure speculation.  I’ll try to keep it clear what’s what.
To start off with, I’m going to be dropping my main hypothesis:
[Main Hypothesis]: the “global conflict” that Doomfist’s faction within Talon has been trying to spread is the Second Omnic Crisis.
[Subset Hypothesis]: the group within Talon that is trying to prevent this is none other than Sombra and Reaper.
As a sort of guide, when I say [Factual Lore] these are things you can double-check in Overwatch dev interviews, Chu’s GDC talk, heroes’ biographies, etc.  When I say [Implications], I’m talking about trying to read in between the lines, to assess what certain things are trying to hint at or indicate.  When I say [Hypothesis] I’m just speculating and constructing a discussion point.
We’re gonna go way, way far back, all the way to the beginning:
The First Omnic Crisis
[Factual Lore]: As many OW fans know, in the universe of Overwatch, a major war occurs between humanity and robots called Omnics.  This war occurs approximately 30 years from present time (2046-2047) or 30 years in the past from current Overwatch time (2076-2077).  This war was a global near-apocalypse for humanity, called the Omnic Crisis, which was prevented by a task force of at least five people - Gabriel Reyes, Jack Morrison, Ana Amari, Reinhardt Wilhelm, and Torbjörn Lindholm - who conducted mainly small, infiltration missions to destroy Omnic bases or factories called Omniums.  This task force was called Overwatch.
[Implications]: What you may not have realized is that the Crisis likely caused a massive shift in how many aspects of the world function.  Blizzard - specifically lead writer Michael Chu - has called the genre that Overwatch dabbles in as “firm science fiction.”  They describe this as being “between soft science fiction and hard science fiction,” with the former lacking explanations for how things operate or work, and the latter being too detailed in descriptions.  The Overwatch development team opted for a middle ground where some things are explained or at least “feel natural” to the audience - London now has a massive skyscraper metropolis in it, there are robots working in various cities, the world has moved onto cleaner technologies, etc.
However, in doing so, there are some interesting subtleties that many Overwatch fans appear to have missed.
Primarily, the gasoline and oil industries - along with possibly “current auto makers” - appear to have died out.
Consider this:
The United States by and large lacks a consistent, cheap railway system for passengers.  There are definitely a few passenger rails and certainly predominant subway systems in some major cities, but overall, almost no one travels cross-country by train.  If you have time, driving by car is arguably “cheaper” and if you have money, picking a plane saves you on time.
But in Overwatch, almost nothing runs on gasoline, and while cars exist, they hover.
Tumblr media
The most decrepit and underutilized building in the Route 66 map is the gas station, which is falling apart.  Compared to the Diner, which is still being operated, and the other buildings (probably maintained by Deadlock), the gas station is in a wretched condition.
Tumblr media
More than that, McCree’s comic gives us the implication that new passenger railways have been built in the United States.
It makes...some sense, especially if we consider that the world is shifting towards using fusion power in everything.  LumériCo is a major example: the entire country of Mexico is in the process of switching over to making everything run on an electricity grid powered by LumériCo fusion cells.  By the time the game takes place, the world of Overwatch has flying cars, express trains everywhere (including a not-train-friendly place like the U.S.), and fusion power.  It doesn’t need gasoline or oil anymore, not in the same quantities is does in our world.
What we should probably question is how much of this is due to the Crisis.  It’s extremely hard to say.  We know that Mexico and parts of Centroamérica lost major sources of power in an event called La Medianoche - The Midnight - which LumériCo President Portero cites as a major motivating goal in moving Mexico towards a “sustainable” energy source.  We don’t know much about other countries during the Crisis, but we know Australia lost a significant amount of land (which they eventually conceded to a surviving “Outback Omnium”), and we now know that Nigeria struggled with an Omnium and the OR-14’s.
Another thing to consider is how much of this was post-Crisis Overwatch’s involvement.  If Mei is any indication, Overwatch was at one time committed to restoring various ecosystems, including melting ice caps and permafrost (which is part of what Mei was studying).  If Overwatch is somehow enforcing sanctions on companies that damage environmental resources, it seems likely that they could’ve had a hand in “killing off” gasoline and oil companies.
So here’s the real question:
What kind of crazyass political and social power does it take to kill off whole technological industries?
Why do I bring this up?
Because some people will see war as the ability to advance human industry (spoiler alert: this character was released on the PTR today and his name starts with a D and rhymes with Boomfist), and other people will see war as a killer of older technologies.  Some people profit in wartime, and other people profit in peacetime.  One need only to look at the U.S.’s economic boom in World War II or the military-industrial complex to see how it works.
What better way to usher in another new technological era than to force the world to war?
[Implications]: We know that Blizzard has been touting the Post-Crisis Omnics as a cheap labor force in various parts of the world, specifically in the United Kingdom.  Part of why Null Sector emerged was as an extremist reaction to the treatment of Omnic laborers.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, these tensions between the humans enjoying Post-Crisis prosperity and the Omnics suffering as they work to support it have not subsided.  In Alive, we see that Mondatta has returned to London to speak about encouraging harmony between humans and Omnics, and we know that tensions continue to sizzle in Australia, Russia, and Korea.  Numbani is the deviation, not the new standard.  All the Overwatch characters have varying reactions to places like the Shambali Monastery in Nepal and Numbani in Nigeria, ranging from outright disgust and hatred to acceptance and hope.
So tensions are not exactly smooth in the present Overwatch world - we have shifting technologies and a psuedo-class-based struggle with a new labor force that lacks rights.
The world is poised on the edge of something very, very big.
Something that has yet to be really, truly explored by Blizzard.
News Announcer in Recall: The Second Omnic Crisis continues to devastate Russia.  The conflict between Omnics and humans has now claimed over fifteen-thousand lives.  So far, the international community has been reluctant to intervene.
The Second Omnic Crisis
[Factual Lore]: What’s been quietly building in the background of all these lore drops is a new, Second Omnic Crisis.  Currently, the only character directly engaged in the war is Zarya, who was stationed at the Siberian front against the revived Siberian Omnium, but D.Va also appears to be semi-engaged in a building battle, being drafted into MEKA to fight a monstrous Sea Titan that emerges from the ocean to wreck havoc on parts of Korea.
[Implications]: What gets really interesting is Talon’s role in this.  Talon appears to be anti-Omnic, assassinating a major, peace-loving Omnic leader for seemingly no purpose.  Perhaps they want the war to spread?  Perhaps they want to fan the flames of discord and chaos?
Talon is also the organization that sets out to kill Katya Volskaya.  At first glance, this seems like Talon is trying to aid the Omnic forces, but consider the scenario that results if they had actually killed her: with Katya’s death, the company is thrown into chaos.  No one but Katya knows where they are getting their new technology from, so mech production stalls.  The new mechs are not deployed to the Siberian front, resulting in a major technological weakness.
This would permit the Second Omnic Crisis to overwhelm the human forces there, and spread outwards to the rest of the world.
[Factual Lore]: Jeff Kaplan: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uKkAyLPJe0)
“One thing you may not have known is that Doomfist is a prominent member of the Talon leadership.  So, contrary to popular belief, Reaper is not the sole leader of Talon - there’s actually a council of leaders who oversee Talon - and sometimes they agree with each other, and sometimes they disagree with each other.  And Doomfist is a very important member of that Talon council.  Now, Doomfist’s ideology is that he wants to see humankind become more powerful, and he thinks the way for that to happen is through conflict.  So it’s kinda a harsh worldview, but he really believes that we as humans get stronger the more conflict that we endure.”
[Factual Lore]: Doomfist’s biography
“Recently freed from imprisonment, Doomfist is determined to plunge the world into a new conflict that he believes will make humanity stronger.”
“As the new Doomfist, Ogundimu rose high in Talon and helped to orchestrate a conflict that the organization hoped would someday engulf the world. However, before their plan came to fruition, Ogundimu was defeated and captured by an Overwatch strike team that included Tracer, Winston, and Genji. He was imprisoned in a maximum-security facility for years, where he waited patiently for events he had incited to play out.”
(Things that occurred while Doomfist was in prison: the collapse of Overwatch, the ‘return’ of the Siberian Omnium, the death of Mondatta, Anubis attempting to break out of confinement, Deadlock and Los Muertos expanding their power.)
Finally, he sensed that the time had come for him to return. He broke out of his prison and recovered Doomfist's gauntlet in a one-sided battle with Numbani's newly unveiled OR15 defense robots. Now, he has retaken his place in Talon's inner council, ready to spark a war that will consume the world once again.”
[Factual Lore]: Doomfist on King’s Row:
“Omnics will not be kept down forever. The ashes of the Crisis still smolder.”
[Hypothesis]: the conflict Doomfist wants to see expand to engulf the war is the Second Omnic Crisis.
Someone - whether Doomfist himself operating out of the Helix prison, or a follower of Doomfist within the Talon Council - approved the assassination of Mondatta, hoping this would incite more Omnic riots and encourage Omnics to engage in a large scale war once again.  Someone else approved the assassination of Katya Volskaya.
Tumblr media
Something that’s important to consider, however, is that Volskaya has a partnership with LumériCo, a company which is currently profiting off of the last major technological switch that occurred either due to, or in the wake of, the First Omnic Crisis.  Furthermore, LumériCo has a partnership with Vishkar, which is also benefitting from doing construction projects in peacetime.  And Volskaya itself is getting technology from Omnics in Numbani, a city that promotes peace.
Killing Katya Volskaya had the potential to set off a massive chain reaction in which all these corporate alliances fall apart, effectively breaking down the current technological and economical structures that maintain the present world of Overwatch.  Furthermore, Katya Volskaya is seen as a hero to the Russians, and her death would have angered them and motivated them to fight further.
It seemed like a prime opportunity for the faction within Talon that wants to spread global conflict to make its move.
But the assassination failed.
Quite deliberately.
The One Who Pulls The Strings
In Infiltration, we reach the revelation that Sombra was actually the one who cause the assassination mission to fail, quite intentionally.  Even though she had a major opportunity to kill Katya Volskaya, she chooses not to, and instead threatens to blackmail her with proof of her trading “with the enemy.”  We end the scene with Sombra saying that she’ll “be in touch” with Katya over what exactly Sombra wants the CEO to do.
Alongside this, we’ve seen other “major Talon missions” fail - rather spectacularly.  The biggest issues it that Sombra isn’t directly involved in at least two of them.
[Factual Lore]: Reaper is sent by Talon, along with a squad of “standard grunts” to steal the remaining Overwatch agent list from Athena in Recall.  His team fails to subdue Winston, and Reaper fails to 1) gain the list and 2) stop Winston.
[Factual Lore]: Reaper and Widowmaker are sent to retrieve Doomfist’s Gauntlet sometime after Overwatch was Recalled.  They encounter Winston and Tracer who try to stop them.  They fail to retrieve the Gauntlet, and are forced to escape.
[Implications]: In BOTH shorts, Reaper has at least two opportunities to shoot Winston at point-blank range.  In BOTH instances, Reaper chooses not to - in Recall, he briefly incapacitates Winston by...knocking part of a spaceship on his head, and in the Museum Heist, Reaper goes out of his way to step on Winston’s glasses, an act that pushes Winston into rage mode and effectively makes him and Widowmaker lose the battle.
This is combined with the fact that Reaper consistently “fails” missions - often acting completely “irrationally” for a man who has spent like 30 years knowing how to use dual shotguns and leading a major black ops division.  In the Old Soldiers comic, Reaper has an opportunity to shoot Soldier: 76 in the head at point-blank range, and choose to attempt to incapacitate him instead (eventually, Reaper foregoes his shotguns altogether to fight hand-to-hand).  In the same comic, he later rematerializes near Ana, and rather than shoot her, engages in hand-to-hand combat instead.
Reaper has failed to kill every ex-Overwatch agent he has come across in every canon material piece he has been in.
In Infiltration, Reaper chooses not to shoot at a Volskaya employee who knocks himself out on a mech.  Rather than wraith after Katya, Reaper instead engages in a seemingly monumental task of fighting one-on-one with a goddamn battle mech.
So just to reiterate:
Reaper - a man skilled in black ops, stealth, and lethal close-range fighting - has consistently chosen to not use any of these abilities in several major Talon missions.
Why?
[Hypothesis]: Reaper and Sombra want to see the Talon leadership fail.
For Sombra, this is almost certainly the case.  She actively undermines an assassination mission, and she states outright in her Origins video that she wants uncover the weaknesses of the people who “run the world.”  As I suggested in my Doomfist essay, I think it is incredibly likely that Sombra believes assisting Doomfist in his freedom will cause possible leaks in at least two places: Helix in the Temple of Anubis, and the pro-Volskaya Omnic faction in Numbani.
With the newest information about Talon, I’d also say that Sombra anticipates there might be a third place for an information leak:
The Talon leadership.
We know that the Talon council members do not always agree with each other, possibly about missions, objectives, and ideologies.  Doomfist may be able to rally a faction of the Talon leaders, but by critically undermining them in key missions, Sombra has put immense pressure on them to make hastier, more precarious moves.
Reaper is possibly a part of this.
Consider: Reaper not only failed to kill Winston in Recall, but by fighting him, actually encourages Winston to take the final step towards initiating Recall.  We already know that the Talon leadership - and specifically Doomfist - found Overwatch to be a major roadblock to the conflict they wanted to achieve.
[Factual Lore]: Jeff Kaplan:
“Obviously Overwatch is a world group that is opposed to conflict and is trying to create peace throughout the world, so therefore it leads to Doomfist and Overwatch definitely being at odds with each other.  You add to the fact that it was Winston who put Doomfist behind bars for many, many years, and Doomfist’s hatred of Overwatch is at an all-time high.  Now that Doomfist is free, he plans to use Talon to implement his worldview on the rest of - not only Talon - but the rest of mankind altogether.  So the story’s gonna get very interesting, now that Doomfist is in the mix.  I think it’s gonna be awesome that we learn more about Talon through Doomfist and his interactions with heroes like Widowmaker and Reaper.”
Think about it like this:
Things Gabriel Reyes/Reaper knows roughly about the time of Recall:
Winston has been hanging out in Gibraltar being listless for awhile.
The Talon leadership has approved the assassination of Mondatta.
The Talon leadership is starting to make moves to put their plan towards global war into action.
Gabriel Reyes actually fought to prevent the First Omnic Crisis from resulting in the outright destruction of humanity.
Doomfist and Winston hate each other on a very personal level.
Doomfist hates Overwatch on a very personal level.
Winston is the main Overwatch agent to have stopped Doomfist in the past.
It took creating Overwatch to stop the First Omnic Crisis.
It might take recreating Overwatch to stop the Second.
Everything Reaper has done from Recall onwards (Old Soldiers, the Museum Heist, Infiltration) has arguably been “sloppy” to the point of being “suspicious.”  If this hypothesis is true, he has managed to maintain some levels of plausible deniability - and more importantly, we should keep in mind that the only characters who canonically know Gabriel Reyes is Reaper are Soldier: 76 (Jack Morrison), the Shrike (Ana Amari), and Sombra.
[Implications]: Reaper is downplaying his true abilities to undermine Talon missions and weaken the Talon leadership’s unity and stronghold.
Once again, it seems like releasing Doomfist could be a great rallying force for the Talon leadership...except that now Winston and Tracer are putting the band back together on the other side of the Mediterranean.  And oops, no one has managed to capture Soldier: 76 or the Shrike yet, so those two are still loose.  And oops again, no one has managed to kill Katya Volskaya.
And oops again, new “heroes” like Lúcio and D.Va are starting to inspire people to believe in hope again.
And oops x10, releasing Doomfist caused child genius Efi Oladele to make a brand new, anti-Doomfist hero in Numbani - Orisa.
These are a lot of “pressures” Talon has to now face in their efforts to fan the flames of war.
And everyone knows that when you put more weight on things, you can eventually stress them to the point of cracking.
And then breaking.
If the Talon leadership is as disjointed as Jeff implies, and coups occur as frequently as Doomfist’s backstory implies, Talon is beginning to flounder.  It seemingly had the run of the world in the wake of the Fall of Overwatch, but in the Post-Recall world, things are starting to get more complicated.  The Second Omnic Crisis is not spreading - it is stagnating in Russia.  Riots in London have not necessarily resulted in the return of Null Sector.  The ex-Strike-Commander of Overwatch is still alive (and the ex-Strike-Lieutenant is too, although it is not known how many people within Talon are aware of this).
[Factual Lore]: Sombra:
“I’ll find out who really runs the world.  I’ll find their weaknesses, and how to exploit them.  And when I do - I’ll be the one pulling the strings.”
It is not entirely clear if Sombra is blackmailing Reaper into helping her.  As Chu has stated, Sombra is one of three characters to know his true identity, and their in-game interactions certainly imply that they have an a tenuous alliance, with her teasing him about a personal nickname.
Sombra: What's the plan today, Gabe? You don't mind if I call you Gabe, do you?
Reaper: Stick to the mission.
But their other interactions also show a cautious trust with one another:
Sombra on Oasis: So what are we doing here, boss?
Reaper: I need to pay a visit to a friend.
---
Reaper: Try to stick to the plan, Sombra.
Sombra: Look, someone has to be ready when all your careful planning doesn't pan out.
[Implications]: The last set of lines implies that - not only does Sombra know who Reaper really is - she also knows his personality.  While Reaper plays the part of a seemingly arrogant Talon mercenary, Sombra is aware that underneath the mask, Gabriel Reyes is still a skilled tactician and careful planner.  It is also implied that she is aware that these skills did not prevent Overwatch and Blackwatch from collapsing, and must consider making countermeasures in the event they “fail” again.
More importantly, the last set of lines imply that the two of them are collaborating on something - “a plan.”
What kind of plan?
It’s not clear, unfortunately, but it certainly is tantalizing to speculate over.  Just hours ago, Michael Chu responded to a set of tweets asking if Reaper is part of the Talon leadership or if he is “just a nerd working for Talon.”
Chu’s wonderful response?
Tumblr media
I’m desperately waiting to see what kind of interactions Reaper and Sombra will have with Doomfist, but we know there are at least two datamined lines:
Reaper: Why can’t Doomfist do his own dirty work?
Reaper: what kinda name is Doomfist anyways?
Now, these lines might not make the cut.  They’re pretty old and a lot of the story has been reworked since the game was released a year ago.  Reaper in particular has undergone a number of big story shifts.  What is interesting are the two potential hypotheses for this:
Reaper is working to undermine Talon to destroy it from the inside.
Reaper is working to undermine Talon’s leadership to orchestrate a coup.
Sombra’s goals seem to fall in-line with the latter moreso than the former, and I’m inclined to believe that Reaper - whether he’s being blackmailed or not - is also aiming for that.  But in order to orchestrate a coup from the inside, you have to be willing to push boundaries and shake things up.  Releasing Doomfist is an ideal trigger for that because:
Helix may attempt to reclaim him, and possibly send out the Raptora Squad (Pharah’s group) to arrest him.  This leaves the Temple of Anubis unguarded - and Sombra wants to get access to that.
The pro-Volskaya Omnic faction in Numbani might slip up, resulting in another information leak that Sombra can exploit.
Doomfist is being pushed into a fight with Winston and/or Orisa, resulting in the Talon leadership either losing their rally point (Doomfist) or losing yet another “big mission.”
There is no situation where Sombra (and possibly Reaper) actually lose because - assuming they want to see Doomfist and the Talon leadership fail - every possible situation works out in their favor.  They either gain information, or Doomfist is re-arrested, or the Talon leadership splinters and cracks.  None of this actually outright harms Sombra or Reaper.
And all of this is because Reaper keeps “failing” his missions.
As Jeff said -
The story is going to get very interesting.

Trump Threatens More Iranian Sanctions
LOS ANGELES (Onlinecolumnist.com), July 10, 2019.-- With Iranian President Hasan Rouhani stating he will increase uranium enrichment “to whatever level he wants,” the July 15, 2015 Joint Comprehensive of Action [JCPOA] is essentially null-and-void.  After Trump cancelled form President Barack Obama’s Iranian Nuke Deal May 8, 2018, Iran has threatened to ramp up its nuclear enrichment program.  Obama’s JCPOA, negotiated by former Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif over two years, no longer offers the safeguards needed to prevent Iran to developing an A-bomb.  Already over the 300 kg limit and enriching uranium to over 3.67%, Iran has breached the JCPOA, demanding a deal to sell oil to Europe to skirt U.S. sanctions.  “Iran has long been secretly ‘enriching’ in total violation of the terrible 150 billion dollar deal made by John Kerry and the Obama administration,” Trump tweeted.
Holding an emergency meeting of the U.N.’s Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] board today, Trump pointed out that Iran was never really in compliance.  IAEA officials insisted that Iran was, until now, in compliance with the agreement, limiting Iran’s uranium enrichment for 10 years. Obama’s JCPOA never demanded that the IAEA had access to Iran’s secret military enrichment sites, making the agreement a farce.  “Remember that deal was to expire in a short number of years.  Sanctions will soon be increased substantially!” Trump tweeted. Meeting in the IAEA board meeting today, the White House tried to pressure Iran back into compliance with the flawed JCPOA.  Trump cancelled U.S. involvement in the JCPOA when Iran refused to stop it proxy war in Yemen against Saudi Arabia.  Iran has supplied Yemen’s Houthi rebels with missiles, arms and cash.
White House officials accuse Iran of planting Limpet mines on oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, also letting Houthis fire Iranian-made guided missiles at Saudi oil pumping stations.  When British Royal Marines interdicted July 4 a false-flagged Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Gibraltar headed for Syria, Iran threatened to seize a British oil tanker.  Britain seized the tanker to enforce European Union sanctions on Iran’s illicit oil sales.  Going to the IAEA, Trump hopes to further isolate Iran, hitting the Persian nation with more punitive economic sanctions.  Trump’s previous sanctions have already wreaked havoc on Iran’s Rial currency, now trading for one-fourth of its previous value.  Iran has stubbornly refused to go back to the bargaining table to re-negotiate the Iranian Nuke Deal.  Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed dissatisfaction with the JCPOA.
Iran’s Supreme Leader never wanted to compromise on Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, denying that it was ever for a nuclear weapon.   Yet every time Iran gets hit with sanctions or doesn’t get what it wants, it threatens to ramp up uranium enrichment activities.  Western intelligence officials believe that Iran had stockpiled enough weapons grade uranium before the JCPOA to build at least 10 nuclear bombs.  Whatever Iran has been up to in its secret military sites is anyone’s guess.  Trump flat out accused Iran of breaching uranium restrictions at its secret military sites.  IAEA officials have no way to verify what goes on at any site outside its purview.  When the IAEA claimed May 31 that Iran was in compliance, it didn’t include Iran’s secret military sites, where, as Trump says, could be enriching uranium.  Iran can’t explain why it needs weapons-grade uranium.
When you take the tanker bombings into account and Yemen’s attacks on Saudi oil pumping stations, there’s no excuse for Iran’s malign activities.  If Iran were not in a proxy war against Saudi Arabia, Trump wouldn’t have cancelled U.S. involvement in the JCPOA.  Trump said Iran used its cash from the JCPOA’s sanction relief to fight a proxy war against Saudi Arabia, supply rockets-and-missiles to Hamas terrorists in Gaza and to Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.  Iran’s refusal to talk to with the White House prompted Trump to implement more punitive economic sanctions.  Trump and his Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin know where every Iranian economic bone is buried. Already plunging, the Rial currency and driving Iran’s economy into recession, Zarif said  June 3 that the U.S. was at “economic war” with Iran.  Iran’s aggressive actions in the Gulf mirror that fact.
Trump’s plan to slap Iran with more economic sanctions ups the ante when it comes to Iran’s provocative behavior.  When it comes to Iran’s aggressive actions, one more misstep by Iran at the U.S. or its allies would result in Trump taking military action.  When Iran shot down a U.S. Global Hawk surveillance drone June 20, Trump nearly pulled the trigger but decided to give diplomacy a chance.  Iran knows it’;s treading on thin ice, continuing to threaten to hit the U.S. or its allies with ballistic missiles.    Iran has threatened almost daily to hit U.S. targets, including the Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, with ballistic missiles.  Iran boasted yesterday that if it could hit a drone at several thousand feet, it could easily take out a U.S. Aircraft Carrier. One more act of aggression by Iran on any U.S. or allied target would be met with military force, regardless of the collateral damage.

Witch & Familiar AU !
Lapis is the daughter of a warlock and the water demon Malachite. She and her father underwent a witch's trial but due to her demonic powers she was able to escape. Unfortunately her father didn't and this caused Lapis in a fit of rage and wreaked havoc in her own village. In order to stop her, she was captured and trapped in an enchanted mirror. Hundreds years later, Lapis realized the mirror only binds her demonic side and out of desperation she strips this and immerged her prison completely powerless. Malachite appears and offers her her dark magic so she can use it in the new world. Lapis accepted, vowing she will find a way to free the rest of her someday. As a witch wielding and influenced by her mother's dark magic, Lapis is a force to reckon with and a difficult person to associate. She is powerful and finds joy in providing help but she's too emotional and impulsive that she causes more damage than good. These traits made it hard for her, specially since witchery is her livelihood. The friends who she managed to have suggested she finds a familiar who can filter off Malachite's negative energy and can serve as her voice of reason. Conveniently one of these friends, Steven, has a girlfriend who knows someone who can do the job.
Olivette was a changeling who was given by her 'mother' as a gift to her niece's (Connie Maheswaran) first birthday. She was to serve as the child's familiar but nine years into a reluctant job Olivette ran off, underestimating the consequence it will bring. However a familiar who separates long from someone they already formed a bond of loyalty with WILL slowly perish, and she did until a gem warlock picked her off. He successfully nulled Olivette's spiritual bond to Connie only to turn her servile. Ten years later she was found again by Connie and, despite still being upset with Olivette abandoning her, helped her to be free* and found her a better familiar job..
I really need to edit this description. Bu this is the setting.

Bitcoin (BTC) Ethereum (ETH) Litecoin (LTC) Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Technical Analysis - Relief At Last
New Post has been published on https://cryptnus.com/2018/06/bitcoin-btc-ethereum-eth-litecoin-ltc-bitcoin-cash-bch-technical-analysis-relief-at-last/
Bitcoin (BTC) Ethereum (ETH) Litecoin (LTC) Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Technical Analysis - Relief At Last
It’s been a difficult and challenging environment throughout the cryptocurrency universe these past 5-6 months after a stellar 2017 trading campaign as selling pressure has dominated the action and in the process, inflicted meaningful technical damage across the board.
While the recent downside pricing pressure has left none unscathed and wrecked havoc from a technical perspective, whereby numerous names find themselves in a poor technical posture trading below their 50 and 200 day moving averages, we’ve been noting in recent reports that we suspected that some short-term relief would likely be in store and bring to a halt some of the recent bleed lower for the time being.
For example, just a few short days ago, we noted in our report of Monero (XMR) that, “while we certainly suspect some short-term price relief in the days/weeks ahead, the technical damage inflicted during the past several weeks throughout the entire cryptocurrency universe requires time and repair”, which remains the case today.
Nonetheless, both investors and traders alike are now finding that long-awaited relief at last as the slippery slope south has seemingly subsided where we are now being treated to some upside action as can be witnessed from the Charts of BTC; ETH; LTC and BCH below:
As we can see from the daily Chart of Bitcoin (BTC) above, BTC is once again forming a potential mini inverted H&S formation and attempting to move up-and-out. Although BTC remains well below its 50 (blue line) and 200 (red line) day moving averages, the short-term action is somewhat encouraging.
While the inverted H&S formation requires further work, both investors/traders may want to utilize the following levels as a guide in order to garner further clues/evidence with respect to direction.
If, at any point in the days ahead, BTC can go top-side of the 7730 figure and ‘stick’ and perhaps more importantly, clear the 8020 level, such development/s, should they materialize, would certainly be a welcome relief and begin to repair some of the recent technical damage despite still trading below both its 50 and 200DMA’s.
On the flip-side, if BTC is unable to overcome the 7730 level and ‘stick’ and subsequently ‘takes-out’ the 7260 level at any time in the days/weeks ahead, such would likely suggest that the potential inverted H&S formation would once again be a failure and would also more than likely precipitate additional selling pressure.
Thus, while the recent short-term action is encouraging as well as providing some much-needed relief, further work remains before we can declare that BTC is out of the woods and in the clear.
Moving on to Ethereum (ETH), we can see from the Chart below that, much like BTC, Ethereum is also forming a potential mini inverted H&S formation and attempting to move up-and-out.
While Ethereum also finds itself trading below both its 50 and 200DMA’s, representing a poor technical posture as we can observe above, ETH is not nearly as far beneath its moving averages as that of BTC.
Moving forward, if, at any time in the days ahead, ETH is capable of clearing the hurdle located at the 650 level and can ‘stick’, which coincidentally is where we find the 50-day moving average, such development, should it occur, would certainly be a positive development. On the other side of the ledger, should ETH breach the 538 figure, such occurrence would likely render the inverted H&S formation null-and-void.
Looking at the Chart of Litecoin (LTC) below, much like both BTC as well as ETH, Litecoin finds itself in a similar position attempting to move up-and-out of its mini potential inverted H&S formation as well as trading well below both its 50 and 200-day moving averages.
When viewing the action of LTC above, it’s apparent that it finds itself in a similar technical posture as that of both BTC and ETH.
Thus, moving forward, both investors/traders may want to monitor the following levels for additional clues/evidence with regards to direction.
If, at any point in the days ahead, LTC is capable of going top-side of the 129.30 level and perhaps more importantly, the 141 figure, such development, should it occur, would surely be a positive step for LTC. Whereas, if LTC should happen to breach the 114.25 level at any time in the days ahead, such development, should it occur, would suggest that its potential inverted H&S formation would be a failure.
Last, but certainly not least, we take a look at Bitcoin Cash below, as BCH may just find itself in a better position presently than the aforementioned above.
As we can observe from the action above, BCH, like BTC; ETH and LTC also find itself in the process of forming its very own potential inverted H&S formation.
However, unlike BTC; ETH as well as LTC, which have yet to clear their respective initial hurdles and ‘stick’ – thus far, BCH has indeed cleared and is holding its initial hurdle located at the 1153 level.
Moving forward, if BCH can continue to hold the 1153 figure and perhaps of more importance, can clear its 50DMA, presently located at the 1244 level, such would certainly go a long way in repairing some of the short-term technical damage that has been inflicted over the past several weeks. On the flip-side of the coin, should BCH lose the 941 level at any point in the days ahead, such would more than likely suggest that lower prices are in the offing.
Thus, of the four names we’ve focused on in this report, BCH presently finds itself leading the way, while BTC; ETH as well as LTC have further work in order to complete their potential inverted head-and-shoulders formations.
While the present overall climate finds itself reaping some welcome short-term relief in the absence of storm clouds, as we have suspected, further work remains before we can declare the coast is clear.
Happy Trading!!

Hurricanes Harvey and Irma may mess with the job market
Hurricane Harvey has already hurt the job market. But will that storm and Hurricane Irma, which is expected to slam Florida this weekend, have an even bigger impact on the broader U.S. economy?
The federal government reported Thursday that initial jobless claims surged 62,000 last week to 298,000 — the highest level in more than two years. Most of that increase came from Texas, which bore the brunt of Hurricane Harvey’s winds and flooding.
‘; var storytext = document.getElementById(‘storytext’); var heightToSkip = 0; function resetValues() totalHeight = 0; targetChildElement = null; // Check if story is in the blacklist of articles to remove smartassets // [2017.07.27] Results of a one-off request from r.barbieri if(BLACKLIST[location.pathname] === true) return if(storytext == null) console.log(“Error finding storytext element for SA embed”); return; for ( i = 0; i 0) heightToSkip -= storytext.childNodes[i].clientHeight; resetValues(); else if(heightToSkip minHeight && targetChildElement != null) //console.log(“total height = ” + totalHeight); //console.log(“childNode = ” + targetChildElement); storytext.childNodes[targetChildElement].insertAdjacentHTML(‘afterend’, smartAssetDiv); smartasset = document.getElementById(‘smartasset-article’); smartasset.style.float = ‘left’; // allows module to have text float to right smartasset.style.marginRight =’20px’; smartasset.style.marginBottom =’25px’; //console.log(storytext.childNodes[targetChildElement]); //SMARTASSET.setDivIndex(targetChildElement); SMARTASSET.setSmartAssetScript(); /* bail out since we’re done */ break; } /* div with id=”smartassetcontainer”. Sanity check to only embed once */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘div’ && storytext.childNodes[i].id !== “undefined” && storytext.childNodes[i].id === “smartassetcontainer”) break; /* div with id=”ie_column” */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘div’ && storytext.childNodes[i].id !== “undefined” && storytext.childNodes[i].id === “ie_column”) resetValues(); /* embeds from twitter, facebook, youtube */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘div’ && storytext.childNodes[i].classList.contains(’embed’)) resetValues(); /* cnn video player */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘div’ && storytext.childNodes[i].classList.contains(‘cnnplayer’)) resetValues(); /* images */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘img’) resetValues(); /* images stored in figure tags */ else if (storytext.childNodes[i].nodeName.toLowerCase() === ‘figure’) { if(storytext.childNodes[i].clientWidth
The government also said there was “no discernible effect” on the national job market in August due to Hurricane Harvey when it reported the latest monthly numbers on September 1. But that was mainly because the storm made landfall so late in the month.
It might be a different story when the Labor Department releases the September jobs numbers on October 6.
Irma has the potential to create even more economic havoc, depending on what parts of Florida it hits.
Miami and other areas in South Florida have a vibrant tourism industry that could be hurt if there is significant damage in the region. There are concerns about what impact the storm will have on the state’s citrus growing industry, too.
“There could be a big impact on many major cities in Florida and that could show up in the job numbers,” said Sean Snaith, director of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Economic Competitiveness.

Still, it’s important to remember that natural disasters tend to have only a short-term negative impact on the broader economy.
And there often is an economic rebound following big storms. The rebuilding efforts lead to more jobs, a boost to infrastructure spending and other stimulus.
That was the case after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
“Natural disasters for the national economy tend to be a blip,” said Dan North, chief economist for Euler Hermes, North America. He noted that the recovery is already beginning to repair damaged oil infrastructure in Houston and other areas in Texas.
But North added that it’s important to look beyond the headline GDP numbers and focus on the human toll that hurricanes leave in their wake: Damaged and destroyed homes. Families forced to relocate. Lives lost.
That’s why North thinks the Federal Reserve will likely not raise interest rates again this year and could only boost them two times — less than many expect — in 2018.
“Think of the wealth destruction created by these hurricanes,” North said. “A rate hike could be another stress on the economy.”

Snaith isn’t so sure that Janet Yellen — or her potential successor as Fed Chair if President Trump decides to appoint someone else to lead the central bank — will spend too much time worrying about the national impact of these storms.
“I would hope that the Fed is not going to be swayed by weather over the longer run. Hurricanes aren’t included in theoretic models to predict inflation,” he said.
However, Snaith conceded that the general dysfunction in Washington these days could keep the Fed on hold.
The central bank has a legitimate reason to wonder if Congress and the president can get anything done — especially now that Trump seems to be at odds with leaders in his own party.
“It’s right for the Fed to take baby steps due to other economic concerns. The Category 5 political storm in DC is a bigger worry than Irma or Harvey,” Snaith said.
