I was right in my calculation ! He's 28 ! That means he was 15 when he founded Null Sector ! THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING !!
Yes, I know, the Omnic age isn't the same as the human age, but symbolically, it explains a lot about his impatience, violence, thinking he's right even though he's clearly wrong, stuck in his own worldview and manipulable ! A teenager's react !

"genesis" miniseries spec/hopes
i think this is gonna be auroras origin story (first ep her birth, second exploration of herself + omnic crisis; third her sacrifice). and im hoping it does two things:
demonstrate that aurora had her own autonomy in her choices and that she was as fallible as any human (ideally id like her to be a bit of a girlfailure but i think its unlikely)
show the crisis didnt end just bc of baby ows intervention but bc auroras sacrifice caused the awakening, and now free of anubis' control (and sentient) omnics decided war is bad actually
imo aurora needs to be explained to the casual viewer who doesnt engage with the wider lore, shes too important as a catalyst for post-crisis events not to be. but i also want her to get some real character development because right now (in game and in transmedia) shes regarded by others as either a weird invention (sojourns novel) or as a deity (stone by stone, rama and echos interactions). just humanize her a bit. i think theres some lovely melancholy in the idea that who she was has been lost to time (liaos dead, after all) and that all anyone else has are little bits of knowledge open to interpretation.
other interesting bits from the trailer:
>narrators voice is likely gabrielle adawe (i dont know the va)
>young girl playing teaparty could be sojourns niece bonnie and her omnic babysitter, julietta (thanks @yoshi12370)
>zenyatta mightve been a combat model due to the eye shape of his faceplate (see @wooongwooong on Twitter)
>mina liao cant design omnics for shit (i say this as lovingly as i can)
>aurora might be voiced by laura bailey

PvWeek (3/4/23)
Welcome one and all to PvWeek! The forefront for the lorefront.
In its world, there are only secrets.
In the world of Overwatch, there is no greater mystery than the Global Conspiracy (or GC, for short). The only person we know that is aware of the GC is Sombra. The rest of the world seems to be completely unaware of the GC’s influence. As are we. We haven’t seen much (explicit) actions or moves by the GC. Which is fair, conspiracies tend to be secretive and hidden. But still, there is a lack of development on what would be a major factor in the world of Overwatch. Hopefully, the story mode will shine some more light on the GC.
I say hopefully, because the only way we can learn about the GC is through Sombra. The hero who never gives out information easily. So, I don't think we're gonna learn much if Sombra is our only source. However, we can compile what little we know.
Tumblr media
The Global Conspiracy has connections to Overwatch, Talon, Numbani, Volskaya, and Lumerico. There are also plenty of other entities it may have its hands in, but we don't have a full view of the picture. What I find most interesting is that there is no presence of the Shambali, nor Null Sector. Perhaps the Global Conspiracy has a more human focal point and means. Or perhaps the omnic centric groups are one of the connections cut off. Regardless, this is all we know of the Global Conspiracy. Which doesn’t leave too much to be interested in.
Furthermore, I'm not the biggest fan of the Global Conspiracy in general. The main reason for my displeasure with it, is the fact that it kinda steals Talon's thunder. Talon is supposed to be the shadowy organization pulling strings and fulfilling a secret, evil agenda. But nope, there is actually a conspiracy even higher which is currently manipulating Talon. It kinda takes the oompf out, you know?
There is, however, a way to rectify and redeem the GC. The Global Conspiracy should be a single person, not a collective. There are two candidates I have in mind.
Gaze into the Iris
Tumblr media
The first sentient omnic was Aurora. Eventually, she reached tranquility and spread her gift across omnic-kind. This unfortunately costed her her life. (Zen ult causes you to die in Overwatch lore).
But what if death is not the end. What if through spreading sentience (or causing the Awakening as known in Overwatch lore) Aurora was able to find a new way of existence. Zenyatta even described her transcendence as beyond “this existence, this way of being,”. (Short story: Stone by Stone). Who’s to say there isn’t another way to live on?
What if Aurora is able to live on digitally through the power of the Iris? And if she’s one with the Iris, then a form like this makes sense.
Tumblr media
However, there is one little hole in this theory. Why? Why is Aurora secretly manipulating some of the most powerful factions on earth? She very clearly believed in peace and understanding and selflessness. Granted, we haven’t seen any malicious actions from the Global Conspiracy. But still, why the secrecy, why the underhandedness? Aurora has no motive. She doesn’t even have connections to most (if not all) of these organizations. It doesn’t make to much sense for the GC to be her.
However, there is another candidate for the Global Conspiracy’s true identity. But this PvWeek has already gone on for too long. And I want a full PvWeek for the second candidate, as I have a lot to say about them. So, make sure you tune in next week for the final* PvWeek on a character that I've been dying to talk about.
But, before we go, I just have one last question:
Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf?

Medusa!Reader and Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 1 Story Mode Part 11
PREVIOUS
NEXT
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Spoilers for Mortal Kombat 1 Storymode: Proceed with Caution
The first thing you did when you and your group were finally able to get a safe distance away from Ying's Fortress was punch Shang Tsung in the face and then Quan-chi.
"That's for your part in the Other Shang Tsung's plan!"
Jerrod has to physically hold you back from doing more to them before reminding you there is a more pressing problem. He promises that both Sorcerers will face justice when this crisis is averted. Jerrod's assurance is enough to placate your fury for now. Shang Tsung scowls deeply at the Emperor's words but, for once, doesn't say anything.
You then turn to look back toward the fortress, finding legions of stone warriors marching as one in a long line, similar to ants. You listen as others start speculating about the army and strategies to defeat them, along with Titan Shang Tsung and Titan Y/N. Until the Shang Tsung you know, comes up with a good question about more than one timeline. Although, you looked like you physically wanted to vomit when agreeing with the Sorcerer.
"As much as it pains me to say, Lord Lui Kang, Shang Tsung is actually ri- ... Not wrong to think like that. My Titan self mentioned a timeline of her own, meaning there has to be more than two timelines."
"Precisely. We lack strength, but we could find it in other timelines."
Lui Kang appears surprised by your argument before his expression takes on one of deep thought. This gets the ball rolling as everyone starts strategizing to gather allies from other timelines in an overwhelming opposing force against Titan Shang Tsung, including a plan for Lord Lui Kang to reclaim his Titan powers again. You just hope he’ll be able to do so in time.
Meanwhile, your Titan self conspires with Titan Shang Tsung while overwatching the construction of the Portals Nexus point. Titan Y/N instructs Shao to defend the portals at all costs, as Titan Shang Tsung commands Geras to find Lui Kang. Although Titan Shang Tsung expresses frustration toward Lui Kang’s development, Titan Y/N assures her husband that they will succeed, and when they do, watching Lui Kang suffer will be all the sweeter to savor.
”You always know how to brighten my mood, my love.”
Meanwhile, you were observing the Dragon Army with the rest of Earthrealm’s champions, regrouping with them to talk strategy in Lord Lui Kang’s absence. Kuai Liang tasks you as the field medic and air support.
You’re not ashamed to say that when both Shang Tsung and Quan-chin opened their mouths again, you were seconds away from biting them both. Again, Jerrod had to hold your shoulder to silently tell you to drop it for now.
With everyone’s role assigned, you take to the skies. Immediately, some stone soldiers spotted you and started hurling boulders towards you. You were barely able to dodge the barrage of the first one, and even then, you got scrapped and bruised. So not only did you have enemies on the ground to assist against, but you also had them in the air, so nowhere was truly safe. Fortunately, you could stop constructing a newer portal by dismantling the scaffolding.
While you were supposed to be general air support, you often found yourself having to assist both Raiden and the Sorcerers. Such as with a Darker Rain and Smoke, turning both of them to stone after Shang Tsung and Quan-chi defeats them.
”Thank you so much, sweet Y/N.”
”Don’t tempt me to cut out your tongue and force Quan-chi to eat it.”
You finally got to take out some of your fury on a Dark Shao, which you 100% enjoyed helping to beat down. The fact his life force was connected to the portals was just a bonus. Although, he almost caught you off guard when you went to tend to Raiden to heal up his fractured ribs. Luckily, and unfortunately, Shang Tsung and Quan-chi saved the young Earthrealmer just in time. You didn’t miss Shang Tsung’s flirtatious look as he walked to confront Dark Shao. As much as you wanted to end Shao, you knew you had to heal Raiden first and even more this time considering he took a lot of hammer blows.
Fortunately, both Sorcerers succeeded and took both Dark Shao and Reiko’s souls, stranding the Dragon Army within Earthrealm. Saving your timeline. However, your relief was soon replaced with irritation when Shang Tsung reminds you and Raiden about how he and Quan-chi risked their lives to save the realms.
”I have to agree with Raiden. What you did hear was simply cleaning up your own mess.”
However, there wasn't a time to squabble amongst yourself. Not when there was still the remaining Dragon Army to defeat.
...
Back with your Titan self, you accompanied your Titan husband to Lui Kang's Hourglass. You arrived flanked by either side of your minions, some Shang Tsung crafted explicitly in a way so they may be gifted to you.
”Titans fighting Titans? Now that’s something new.”
You comment in amusement when noticing that Lui Kang has found Titan allies while giving them all an unnerving smile. A shiver of anticipation goes down your spine when Titan Shang Tsung reiterates the new plan he told you earlier of annihilating Lui Kang's timeline from existence.
"Shall we begin the process, my flower?"
"Let us proceed, darling."
Both of you then released your minions onto Liu Kang and his allies to keep them occupied. Shang Tsung and you walk hand in hand toward Lui Kang's Hourglass, stopping when you're both close enough to combine your magic with your Kitana and Mileena. The cracking of glass ringing out like chiming bells in your ears. Of course, Lui Kang's ever-faithful servant, Geras, attempts to save the Hourglass with his own blast of magic.
You let out a hiss before directing some of your magic to Geras, just enough to gain his attention so he looks directly at your eyes. Your gaze worked like a charm to turn Geras into stone. However, before you can celebrate, the construct shedded the stone off him like dried mud. So you bare your fangs in frustration as you try again to turn him into stone, only for him to then unpetrify himself. This cycle repeats long enough for Lui Kang and his allies to band together and use their power to overpower you and Shang Tsung's attempt at destroying the Hourglass, simultaneously repairing the relic of any previous damage. The magic overwhelmed you both to the point you and your husband were brought to your knees.
"Dearest!"
You shout as your face morphs into one of concern, with your snakes slithering in his direction and hissing in your shared distress. Shang Tsung gives you an assuring look.
"I have survived worse."
You both supported one another back on your feet to retreat into your timeline with the rest of your defeated minions. You glare at the rest of your fellow Titans, who were wise enough to not even look your way. Which only frustrates you more.
"Shang Tsung, I believe it's about time we gather some new allies of our own."
"Agreed." A/N: Remember to like, reblog, or comment! We just got one or two posts left to go!😁😁😁😁

Ok so I just ready Cassidy's section of OW Declassified and I would like to point out the details;
Even in universe Cassidy's past before Overwatch is largely unknown, us as the audience have more context due to the novels Deadlock Rebels but other then that we know nothing.
Cassidy might not have been born in Texas, it is speculated in universe, but it's confirmed that Cassidy himself likes the mystery of his past, so any time he mentions something from it we need to take it with a grain of salt.
It is speculated in universe that Cassidy was orphaned (it's also heavily implied by Cassidy himself), as a result the only records of family mentioned by Cassidy are easily linked back to Ana, Fareeha and Deadlock members.
Cassidy, from the get go, was a known member of Overwatch along with working with Blackwatch. As it mentions that Cassidy's nearly redeemed record was tarnished by the reveal of his involvement in Blackwatch, which really couldn't happen if he wasn't a known Overwatch agent.
Cassidy is canonically the youngest person to offically join Overwatch's ranks, him being perceived as a minor by the time he joined Overwatch. Which puts him, at max, the age of 17 when he joined. As Lena was 18 when she joined Overwatch and like Cassidy she is referred to as one of the youngest people to join Overwatch.
This is mostly pre and early OW Cassidy stuff, I have yet to get to the Blackwatch stuff in the book so get ready for another post like this!!

Eldritch AU (Idea)
In this AU, humans and mobians aren’t the apex species, for there is another which hunts them—the Eldritch.
Creatures with no known origin and no known weakness. They cannot be killed and historians had discovered evidence of their longevity.
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, formerly a renowned Eldritch Scientist, one day disappears without a trace. Rumors quickly speculated that he was on the brink of a great discovery before an Eldritch got to him, however there was never any confirmation.
Years later, one Miles Prower (an aspiring robotics scientist) discovers that not only is Robotnik alive but also his location. Eager to meet his idol and get some answers, the young fox travels to the middle of a forest in nowhere. He’s shocked to find advanced robots milling about, building some sort of small facility and piloting transport trucks from elsewhere.
See, while Dr. Robotnik was famous for his accomplishments in Eldritch science, any actual fans of his would know his true passion always lied in robotics and technology. Miles had read every paper of Robotnik’s that had ever been published and had been both fascinated by the ideas he spoke of and frustrated that it all got swept under the radar by his other, less impressive (in Miles’ opinion) achievements. It was why the young fox so strongly believed that his idol wasn’t dead, but rather had faked his death.
Meeting the man was like a dream come true for the fox… but being scolded for traveling alone was definitely not what he had been expecting. Miles tried protesting as Robotnik began shoving him out the door, saying something about how his robots would drive him back to the nearest city— Only for the temperature in the lab to suddenly drop.
Miles Prower had never met an eldritch before, but the thing crouched on the desk was certainly not what he had been expecting. Blue quills, glowing slit eyes, taller than any human he’d ever seen, and grinning madly from every mouth that appeared and disappeared. It dropped to the floor and crawled closer, joints poking out in unnatural directions. Robotnik’s grip on Miles tightened but neither mortal moved or breathed. When those wide eyes were an inch from his own, Miles couldn’t help but flinch and close his eyes in sheer terror.
But no pain came and mere seconds later, Robotnik whispered that it was gone.
The man explains how he had came out here, away from annoying and idiotic people, because he wanted to work on his own projects. Those projects being to finally explore robotics to his desire. However, that was quickly halted when he realized he was being watched by three Eldritch creatures. Yet they never harm him, despite somehow making it past his security and watching him from across the room.
However, to Miles’ shock, Robotnik reveals that he believes them to be the first ever artificial Eldritch. Escaped experiments.
There’s Scitter, the blue one, who moves fast and eradiclly. It’s also the most “social” and curious, revealing itself to Robotnik far more than the other two.
The next is Golem, with glowing markings, unblinking eyes, and the most deadly-looking in appearance. It appears suddenly and without moving at all, before vanishing whenever Robotnik would blink.
The third is the most elusive and also the tallest. It never leaves the forest and Robotnik’s camera algorithm can’t tell the difference between it and the trees. With its appearance largely unknown, Robotnik simply calls it the Overwatcher for now. He theorized it doesn’t need line of sight to actually watch the Doctor.
Miles decides to stay and help Robotnik find out what they are and if there are more of them out there, becoming his assistant and, eventually, his protégé. To Robotnik’s pleasant surprise, the child’s mind easily keeps up with his own genius.
Elsewhere, Amy and Knuckles begin the search for their missing friend.
Characters:
Eggman - While not an evil villain hellbent on taking over the world, he’s still a recluse who prefers the company of his robots. He also still has his ego and is a massive jerk to anyone he considers stupid. However, he begins to grow a soft spot for the young fox who’s not only able to keep up with him but also provides good ideas of his own.
Tails - Goes by Miles Prower in this AU due to a lack of Sonic. He was bullied for many years, until the Rose siblings moved into town. Amy and her adopted brother, Knuckles, quickly came to his defense and soon enough, the three were friends. However, when Robotnik vanished, they didn’t have the same confidence as Miles in the man’s survival. Determined to discover the truth to his idol’s fate, Miles sets out to find him… and finds more than he bargained for.
Amy and Knuckles - Amy came across Knuckles when she was young and upon discovering he had no memories or family, immediately declared them siblings. Everyone thinks him to be some sort of mutated hedgehog or porcupine. Amy is also Eldritch-touched but keeps it a secret from everyone but Knux. Later, Knuckles discovers his connection to the gods aka the Master Emerald and Chaos. In this world, Angel Island is still a myth and floats around without its guardian.
Sonic - Known as ‘Scitter’, is the “friendliest” and least-cautious of the trio. Scitter grows a strange fascination with Miles and begins showing personality once he arrives, favoring the kit greatly and showing up at the lab even more frequently. He’s also the only one of the three to lack cuffs. Miles is the one to gift him clothes.
Shadow - Known as ‘Golem’, he teleports all over the place, showing little to no emotion, and doesn’t move at all. Out of the three, he’s the most feral and it takes both Robotnik and Miles a long time before they feel comfortable enough to even breath in his presence. He seems to enjoy sitting in the rafters, sometimes going unnoticed for hours then disappearing once he’s finally spotted.
Silver - Known as ‘the Overwatcher’ first then later ‘Birch’ once Robotnik and Tails manage to finally see what he looks like. For the longest time, he did not approach the lab, or at least, not that Robotnik knew. Strangely, he seems to know where the cameras are. The tallest and skinniest of the three, Birch can’t move much, encumbered by his chains. It’s Miles who first comments how it seems strangely weaker than the other two.
Ideas:
Eldritch in this world are like endangered animals, but are world-wide and extremely dangerous. Due to them hunting humans and mobians alike, advancements in technology, medicine, and the like are slowed down much. Also, the overall population is lower and less spread out internationally. Eldritch are not social creatures and tend to mostly be by themselves unless they’re a swarm-type. They don’t seem to posses emotions.
90% of Eldritch attacks result in death. Few manage to escape and even fewer are spared. On that very rare occasion, the ones spared are called “Eldritch-touched”, gain enhanced senses, and glowing eyes. No one knows what an Eldritch-touched means beyond that. They are always disappeared by the local government, likely to be studied or killed, hence why Amy keeps it a secret.
The crew later discover that Amy can actually sense and even communicate with Eldritch. Not as a direct language but rather through intentions and memories. It’s by Amy connecting to Scitter’s mind that they learn Scitter, Golem, and Birch are man-made eldritch—confirming Robotnik and Miles’ theory—meant to be weapons. Weapons against what or who, they don’t know, but whatever happened ended up as a failure. More powerful than predicted, the trio escaped and slaughtered everyone, including the other experiments. Amy later reveals that Scitter’s mind was a lot more emotional than she predicted, further emphasizing just how odd these man-made creatures are.
The idea is that this AU is partially explored through Logs (inspired by the Egg Memos from Frontiers).

What do you think of Wanda in the new “Marvel Rivals” game?
Marvel Rivals is a recently-announced, upcoming video game, described by Marvel as a PvP, team-based shooter. It's being developed by NetEase, who previously ran Marvel Super War. I can see a lot of similarities between the two games, but while Super War was a top-down MOBA-style game for smartphones, Rivals is being developed for PC, and it seems to play more like Overwatch. You can read more and watch the trailer here.
Tumblr media
Wanda has been shown as a playable character in some of the early promotional material for Rivals, but she hasn't been featured prominently in any clear footage. So, I don't really have anything to say about her gameplay, abilities, voice, characterization, etc., and I don't play this type of game, so I can't even really speculate.
We have gotten a pretty good look at her base design, though. This is, to my knowledge, the first time Wanda has been intentionally depicted as a visible woman of color outside of print comics, so that's really exciting. I can only hope that this image of Wanda-- and, presumably, Pietro-- will continue to carry over in adapted media like video games and animation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't love her costume design, but I do like what I've seen of the game's art direction. It is very much in line with an Overwatch or Fortnite aesthetic, but it's more vibrant and distinctive than Super War and I think a lot of the characters look good. Wanda's costume is just a little overcomplicated, and I don't understand the motifs and shapes that were chosen. I don't like her headpiece, I don't like her shoulder pads, and I don't understand why she's wearing silver as an accent color.
It looks like she's wearing a strappy dress with a sleeveless belted coat, long bloves with some kind of spiky armor pieces sticking out of them, AND big chunky shoulder armor in addition to that. It's too busy. I like Wanda in a dress, but the styling of the coat remind me a little too much of her early M C U costumes, which I've never liked, even outside of my obvious bias.

Genji Shimada
So I asked my friend which Overwatch character I should do my next alphabet headcanons about and they said Genji! So I'll be doing Genji next, probably later today.
However while I was thinking about him the thought of his cybernetics came to mind and I went off on a full blown tangent about it so I figured I'd post my thoughts on how much of Genji is a cyborg before I do his relationship stuff.
Tumblr media
This is blackwatch, Genji, I don't know if this is canon or not but for the sake of this I'm saying it is. So as far as body parts go he's definitely missing his legs knee and under. I think he's wearing armor over his thighs though, he has intact femurs. He's missing his right arm and there's some kind of internal damage in his upper chest.
His eye piece comes off seperate to his mouth piece but that doesn't mean his mouth is robotic, I just think he takes the mask part off less often. His head and heart are all intact according to voice lines and evidence from skins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now might I direct your attention to his canon skins. We know from the short "Dragons" that those green circles on his upper body have a release mechanism meaning they manage pressure of some kind within his body.
(We can also see there's less of them in his OW2 design so it's a possibility they got upgraded to be more efficient.)
Now I'm about to lay down my biggest actual headcanon without much evidence besides speculation and "it'd be cool" to back it up.
I think Genji has robotic lungs.
WILD TAKE I KNOW BUT HEAR ME OUT.
He can eat, heard in the voice line about him being able to handle mercy's coffee, so we know his mouth is intact, along with the rest of his digestive system. I think the mouth part of his mask is to help him breathe. I think there was major damage to his respiratory system to the point where they had to make the choice to give him mechanical replacements, hence the need to release pressure when he exerts a LOT of energy (like after his fight with hanzo in the cinematic).
He breathes in game, so we know he needs lungs. Which makes sense if most of his main organs are intact. If the main damage was to his lungs, they could give him robotic ones. And my claim of them not giving him a lung transplant is supported by the fact that Mauga was given a second CYBERNETIC heart instead of a replacement when he was critically injured.
Also in the Doomfist origin cinematic when he threw Genji into a car he started sparking and held his chest, which I know may just be "oh he's a robot of course" written off, but it'd make sense if it was his lungs!! It would put him out of a fight if he can't supply oxygen to the rest of his body. Plus it would hurt him in his chest!
Going off of this, he can definitely breathe without the mask and obviously would need to take it off to eat (he has a lot of scarring on his throat I think, and maybe his jaw) but the mask hides the scar tissue and helps regulate his breathing more naturally. Now I'm not a doctor so this next part may make no sense, and let me know if it does but maybe the mask is connected to his lungs in like a nervous system kind of way? Since they wouldn't be connected to his nervous system entirely? So when he takes the mask off he has to manually breathe. Like the mask regulates it for him so he can do it subconsciously but without the mask it's a conscious manual breathing situation.
And my only real arguments for him not having a robotic heart instead of lungs is his voice line that says "The heart of a man still beats inside of me." Which of course could be metaphorical, "I'm still the same man, just with a different body." Kind of thing, but also he just never takes off that freaking mouth piece so I was thinking it had to serve a purpose!
Lol I'll get to work on my headcanons now but let me know what y'all think of this 🙏

I've expressed it in the past, but I still stand by the opinion that ending London Calling by having Lena take a bullet for Iggy was a weird storytelling decision. Sure, it gave us a cute Lemon Tea moment in the hospital, but besides that? I pretend I do not see it.
Also, there's this weird, shoehorned narrative of Lena never calling herself "anything other than a soldier"? That's... also extremely strange, considering she's always been considered a pilot and "adventurer" first and foremost.
She said in the Uprising comic that she became an Overwatch agent because she knew her unique condition could help her fight for the world, but I just don't see Lena calling herself a "soldier".
HOWEVER...
After seeing Cassidy say that he was never a soldier in his journal entry, I thought about Ana telling Angela in Valkyrie that, as a soldier, Jack wasn't meant to change the world, only to save it. That's why he hired Angela, after all.
So, now I'm having thoughts. Is "Soldier: 76" the reason why Lena considers herself a soldier?
I've already seen speculation that this new Overwatch is supposed to be different, and I agree. Vivian even says:
"Winston, we have to remember: This isn't the old days. We don't have handlers watching our backs from orbit anymore. When boots hit the ground, all we've got is on our backs and in our heads. Let's do our homework and keep everyone safe."
After Vivian's talk with Winston and Cole at the end of the Toronto mission, she says that she'll help with Null Sector, but it's time to move on from Overwatch. I have my fingers crossed that, despite the heavy paperwork and research she has to do again, Vivian will come around.
I'm also hoping that the new Overwatch, being the tight-knit group it is over the old one that kept gaining more rotten people who corrupted it to its core, decides it doesn't need a distinct leader. Cole said at the end of the Rio mission that they're going to need Vivian to make this work, and Vivian says that they're going to need someone like Jack. I hope they eventually come to the conclusion that all they need is each other.
Long tangent aside, what I'm saying is that Jack is kind of in a weird spot right now. Ana believes he's meant to save the world, not change it, but boy, does the world need saving right now. At least a few people in Overwatch know Jack is alive and, as much as they doubt that he'll come back, they agree that they do need him.
I've seen discussions about the possibility that Jack might just pop in to help Overwatch with one or two missions and dip like Torbjörn, but after Torbjörn's journal entry about his workshop being too quiet for his liking, are we sure that even he's not coming back? Still, Torbjörn already does have his place in the new Overwatch, being the only one who can get to the bottom of this Subjugator thing. I'm hoping that Jack finds his place in the new Overwatch, too.
I feel like, despite saying the new Overwatch needs Jack, Vivian has proven herself to be quite capable on her own. Twice, now. I think Vivian and Jack could put their heads together as the best tacticians Overwatch ever had in the past. I've also seen both Vivian and Cole take up the role of a mentor figure, but I won't go into specifics. I feel like, and I'm hoping, this is what the new Overwatch is working towards? You know, a group of people who can watch each other's backs while doling out vigilante justice.
All of this is to say that I would love it if Jack was able to sit back and just be "a little extra firepower" more often than not. After all of his parallels with Lena, such as both of them going into an experimental program at a young age that changed their life forever, it would be sweet if the two of them, once being superior and subordinate, ended up as "soldiers" together. It would make sense for Vivian and Cole to take the New Blood ™️ under their wing, and I think Jack would take Lena under his wing and make up for lost time.
Then, they could finally work with that potential he always talks about while non-canonically killing her in cold blood.
*sobs*

plants - 3.2k words, incomplete
ft. a lot of jack comparing himself to lena and feeling guilty about it, speculation about the slipstream & overwatch's involvement in it, and government coverups
hi all - i figured i'd start posting some of the fic i've written over the years to make this a better archive. note - none of these are complete :(
this one is titled just "plants" and was written late 2020. i think i was aiming for an overarching theme of perennials vs annual plants (ie ones that last and ones that die to put it bluntly) thus some of the plant based commentary.
only change i've made is cassidy's name.
Lena Oxton is, by far, the best candidate for the Slipstream. Her test scores are perfect across the board, her commanding officers give glowing reviews of her abilities and all mention her natural aptitude for taking on challenges, and leadership abilities that shine despite her position as a non-commissioned officer. Despite the flight program not technically being under Jack Morrison’s command, he is currently the highest ranking officer in Switzerland right now, and Director Petras wants to give this ace pilot a warm welcome. And neither he nor Ana Amari, his second-in-command and the woman sitting directly to his right, know anything about this mysterious pilot.
“They didn’t even give us her age,” Ana comments idly, legs crossed at the ankles and fingers tapping on the table. “She could be older than you, Jack.”
“I thought you said that was impossible?” Jack tosses back, smirking a bit despite the uncomfortable situation they’re both in. First meetings in any military-esque organization are rarely actually first impressions, due to the personnel files stored on anyone who’s ever so much as sneezed on a recruiter. He runs a hand through his grey hair, thinning and receding at the front. Ana’s has gone grey as well. Gabe, the lucky bastard, is the only one out of the three of them to even have a hint of his original hair color left, and he shaves most of it off and sticks a beanie on top just to spite them.
Jack’s pulled out of his musings by the sound of a knock on the office door, and he and Ana stand up straight. “Come on in,” Jack says, a little unprofessional and hits the button to open the door.
Lena Oxton is, in fact, not older than Jack or Ana. Ana stiffens a bit next to Jack when she sees the younger girl, smiling wide and walking confidently in RAF service dress, two chevrons on her arms denoting corporal rank. Her hat is tucked underneath her arm, and the sergeant who walked her here nods and salutes to Jack. Jack nods back at him, and he takes his leave. It’s a meeting just between the corporal and Overwatch, after all.
“Good morning Strike-Commander Morrison, Captain Amari,” Lena Oxton says, maybe out of turn but her eagerness and the sharp salute she gives them, all with a cheerful grin on her face, makes Jack let it go.
“At ease, Corporal,” Jack says, waving his hand and motioning towards a chair across the table from him and Ana. Ana is still silent next to him, and it’s only from years of service together does he know that she’s silently furious. He hasn’t let himself feel any anger yet, and instead pulls a notepad out from underneath the limited files he has on Oxton. Clicking his pen once, he gives her a small smile and says, “I have to say, you’re not exactly who we were expecting.”
Lena smiles wider, back straight but legs kicking in the seat a bit. “I get that a lot,” she admits, tilting her head. Her hair is short, obviously growing back out from a buzzcut, and is already beginning to show signs of wildness. It makes Jack wonder how recently she got out of basic training.
Ana’s one step ahead of him as she asks, “When did you become a corporal?”
“Earlier this year,” Lena answers. Ana frowns, and Lena’s posture becomes nervous, looking between Ana’s own displeased face and Jack’s clearly shocked one. “They streamlined me, sir, they said because of natural aptitude. I’m far from the youngest enlisted.”
“How old are you?” Jack asks, a bit afraid of the answer. The RAF would know better than to send them a child. Cassidy was strictly kept off the battlefield and not given an official position until six months after he turned eighteen, all at Reyes’ hand. Even then, it made them all uneasy. Jack and Gabe knew too much about being selected for a special program when they were too young to understand everything that was going on behind the scenes, blinded by patriotism and the concept of being special. They were eighteen then, too.
“Eighteen, sir, as of a few months ago,” Lena replies, grin gone and face now matching the solemn feeling of the room, although she doesn’t seem to understand it. She looks as if she wants to argue for her case, prove her worthiness, tell them to give her a chance and let her show her skills, thinking they might reject her because of naivety. Neither of them doubt her skills, though, and neither does Director Petras, who all but ordered Jack to approve this girl for the Slipstream.
The rest of the interview goes normally, with Oxton thanking them effusively when Jack tells her the position is hers. Jack knows this was all orchestrated over their heads when she tells him the RAF already shipped her belongings over to Zurich. They insist on walking Oxton over to her new quarters, where her room is designated by a fresh new nameplate and a singular cardboard box on the desk inside.
“Wicked,” she says, looking around the room, and then turning back to them and saluting crisply. “I’ll do my best here, Strike-Commander, Captain!” She promises, and Jack just nods and gives her a thin smile as he and Ana walk away. It’s not until they’re in Jack’s office again does Ana speak.
“She’s younger than Fareeha when she left home, for goodness’ sake!” Ana yells, Jack sitting in the office chair and looking thoughtfully at the personnel files. Mysteriously, they only showed up when Jack had approved Oxton for the Slipstream position. Ana reads them over his shoulder, flipping the page before he finishes, making him look up at her, annoyed.
“Listen to this. Lena Oxton, age eighteen. Applied for the Royal Air Force when she was fifteen, Jack. Fifteen. Enlisted as early as she possibly could.”
Jack rubs at his eyes tiredly, already resigned to the whole situation. Petras already strong armed everyone into it, and it seems like he has the backing of the United Kingdom.
“I know that, Jack.” Was he speaking out loud? “What I’m saying is, she’s maybe not the youngest person to ever be drafted for Overwatch, she is the youngest one enlisted on base right now.” Ana frowns, sitting down on the desk across from Jack and sighing. “I just don’t like it.”
“Me neither. But it seems like it's gone above our heads, again,” Jack grumbles, running a hand through his hair again and leaning back in the chair. “Best we can do is offer a support system. Maybe introduce her to Cassidy.”
The conversation switches to a less disheartening topic, from the new recruit to old friends and their new updates. After an hour or so, Ana excuses herself to go to dinner, chiding Jack lightly and reminding him to eat. After threatening to set Angela on him, she leaves, the door shutting quietly behind her. Jack gathers up Lena Oxton’s scattered files and reviews them again, this time without Ana grabbing the papers out of his hands.
The majority of it is test results in more detail, seemingly to justify choosing Oxton over a more experienced candidate. They even included her high school transcript, which shows a fairly average student before it stops abruptly, replaced with military academy grades. It shouldn’t surprise him. The United Kingdom had increased their recruitment rates for the Omnic Crisis and continued to take on new recruits after it ended.
At the very end of the file are photos from various points of Oxton’s career. The most recent was only taken a few days ago, Oxton giving a half-smile at the camera. The oldest two are most striking, however. They seem to show a before-and-after: in the before, Lena Oxton scowls at the camera, head half-shaved and hair dyed white. The after shows her, still scowling, in a military academy uniform with a nearly-bare head. The pictures give him more insight into Oxton than any of her official records do.
Jack makes a note to himself to talk to Lena Oxton before she leaves the base for the Slipstream project.
--
Of course, he never gets that opportunity. It isn’t until a week after the Slipstream incident that Jack gets to read the report. One pilot missing in action. One teleportation matrix currently being searched for. The scientists note that the chances of finding the matrix are likely, due to the magnetic fields or whatever the technobabble is, but that the fate of Lena Oxton is completely unknown.
“It’s none of your concern, Commander Morrison,” Director Petras tells him over the phone. “Research and development isn’t your jurisdiction.”
Jack grits his teeth. “I understand that, Director.”
“Great. I know I don’t need to remind you that the Slipstream project is highly classified. As such, our official stance is that there was no experimental flight program, no test flights, and no missing pilots. Understand?”
Jack stays silent as he thinks. He thinks about a twenty year-old young man laying in a hospital bed in a classified military hospital. He thinks about the way the injections made him feel like he was burning from the inside out. He thinks about seeing doctors wheeling covered bodies to the morgue, whispering about another failed subject. He thinks about being told to never speak of it again.
“Of course, Director,” Jack says, and the phone line goes dead.
He hasn’t forgotten the lifeless bodies in the beds next to him. He doubts he’ll forget Lena Oxton, either.
--
They recover Slipstream’s flight recorder two weeks after the crash, one week after the gag order is placed. In the audio recorded by the cockpit voice recorder, Lena Oxton speaks clearly and confidently, reporting all signals normal.
“Order received,” she says, her voice tinny. “Activating teleportation matrix in fifteen seconds.” And then, almost too quiet for the recorder to pick up, Oxton says, “This ought to be fun!”
A few moments pass before Oxton speaks up again and announces the activation of the teleportation matrix. Harsh static follows, and the recording ends.
Morrison isn’t sure if the hint of a scream before the static is real or just his guilty conscience.
--
Lena Oxton was never a part of Overwatch, officially, so Jack Morrison has no flags to place over caskets and no next of kin to inform - not that Oxton had any, he remembers grimly.
There were no flags or ceremony for Soldier: 75, the teenager in the bed next to him who cried out in the night, whose bed was empty when Soldier: 76 woke up in the morning. Jack hadn’t even known his name. He hadn’t even thought of him for decades.
That night, when he sleeps, he dreams of the soldier enhancement program for the first time in years. In his dreams, Lena Oxton is wheeled out of Jack’s room, her still body covered by a white sheet. The doctors tell him not to think about it, tell him that the bed next to him was always empty. The doctors tell him to forget.
--
Ana brings it up first, when they’re sitting alone in his office. Jack has his hands folded and pressed against his face. Someone who didn’t know him would assume he was praying.
“We failed her,” Ana says. Jack doesn’t look up. “What are you going to do about it, Jack?”
“There’s nothing I can do,” Jack replies without looking up. “She accepted the position. She knew the risks. This is what happens in war.”
“I know that. It doesn’t make it any less wrong,” Ana retorts. She’s been a soldier longer than he has. There’s another long pause.
“After I had Fareeha, I fought so she wouldn’t have to,” Ana says. “I thought that she could grow up in a time of peace. I hoped that she would become something - anything besides a soldier. I failed her too.”
“Fareeha made her own decision. She knew the risks. This is what happens in war, Ana -” Jack repeats, but Ana cuts him off.
“What war, Jack? What war are we fighting?” Ana stands and moves to leave. “The Crisis is over. You and I and Gabe each have the medals to prove it. So why are our kids soldiers?” She hesitates by the door. “We failed them, Jack.”
The door slides shut behind her.
--
Lena Oxton doesn’t let any of them forget her.
The Slipstream’s teleportation matrix is found after months of searching, with some reclusive new signals expert named Winston apparently being the one to pinpoint its location. Within a week of its return, the scientists note chronal anomalies surrounding it and place it in an asymptotically timelike chamber in the Swiss base specially designed during the beginning of the Slipstream experiments.
Jack takes a moment to scrub at his eyes, squints at the page, and skims over the next few dozen lines of equations. He respects the scientists, but he wishes he knew how to ask them to dumb their reports down without coming across as dismissive. He flips the page and begins to skim over the paragraphs when he reads:
Upon reactivation of the chamber, the pilot previously assumed killed in action, Lena Oxton - callsign Tracer - reappeared, though she exhibited many anomalies that could not completely be contained by the chamber.
Five more pages of analysis follow. The report concludes by stating that Dr. Ziegler and the scientist from earlier, Winston, have been assigned to her case.
Jack goes back and rereads the paragraph. He rereads it again.
“Athena, where is the, ah, asymptomatic timelike chamber?” He asks out loud.
“The asymptotic time chamber is located on level 2B, wing E,” Athena replies.
Jack sprints the entire way there.

They make her speak at his funeral in Arlington.
He’s watching from a distance, hacked into some security livestream via drone, less than a mile from the actual thing. All the old heroes of Overwatch, the ones alive, anyways, are gathering around his grave. The sun is shining brightly. He can see Reinhardt sweating in his old Overwatch formal dress. Jack Morrison’s glad it doesn’t rain for his funeral, because it would just be another nail in the empty coffin.
Lena’s been made to speak. It makes sense that they would - the funeral is popularized by the media, with Overwatch’s downfall and the scandals that led up to the explosion, why wouldn’t it be? He wonders where she’s going after the Petras Act, the heroic law that saves the world from any other superheroes trying to do good and fucking up the planet more than it already is, goes into effect. For now, she’s still the golden child, the posterboy of Overwatch, for better or for worse. He’s read his own slander. He can’t bring himself to read anyone else’s.
“He was an excellent commander.” A goddamn lie. He couldn’t run a military company for his life. Maybe he was charismatic enough on the field, enough of a solid figure in a rapidly shifting war-torn field, to be considered for Strike-Commander, but it blew up in his face. He touches the lesions that are just starting to heal, ugly stripes breaking his facial features. Blew up in his face, alright.
Lena’s never sounded ungenuine in her life. She quips advice sometimes, to whoever she feels needs it at the moment, never sounding haughty or out of line. Even now, when she’s spouting lies that he’s sorry she believes, she has the conviction of someone announcing the sky is blue and the grass is green. “He was a mentor to me, personally, after the Slipstream Incident. I could have gone back to civilian life, but he inspired me. I wanted to make the world a better place. Jack Morrison helped me learn how it could be done.”
He tunes out. Stays on the drone’s line for hours, waiting for anyone to say anything about Gabe. He’s not sure why he cares so much. Morbid curiosity? Looking for revenge? Nothing interesting turns up until it’s late into the night, and the motion-activated camera has been off for hours. Its night vision spins on quickly, and Jack sits up, studying the footage.
There’s a small figure standing in front of his gravestone, a baggy hoodie barely concealing the light of a chronal accelerator. Lena’s changed out of her formalwear and is back in front of Jack’s grave, obviously trying to stay hidden. The drone picks up every word she says, and though he can’t see her face, the tears are obvious in her voice.
“I hate you,” Lena says, voice shaky as she lowers herself to sit on the ground. “...I don’t mean that. I hate...I don’t know what I hate. But I hate this situation, and I hate Director Petras, and,” her voice cracks, but she continues, “I hate that you’re gone.” Silence for a few more moments as she picks at the grass around his grave, then picks up the flowers someone had left there and inspects them. “You would’ve hated these,” she says. “This is an annual. One year and it’s gone.” She picks at the petals absentmindedly, voice still thick. “Y’know, I’m coming up on my first year as an active field agent. Streamlined me so fast, people seem to think I’ve been here for years. I think being new is the only thing that’s keeping me from being demonized in the news, like you.” Jack shakes his head. He deserves what they’re saying about him, and more. But he can’t tell Lena that. She drops the flower and stares ahead at the gravestone, not saying anymore for a few more minutes, just crying quietly to herself. Sometimes she starts to say something, but breaks off. It’s not until a car pulls up to the road nearby, and Angela comes out, pausing by the car door as Lena whips around to look at her.
“Listen, C’mander…” Lena begins again, standing up and tugging the hoodie firmer around herself. “I told you about my shit family and all, but, ah.” Jack watches Angela walking closer, his own throat growing tight at the words coming out of Lena’s mouth. He doesn’t want to hear them. Doesn’t want to disappoint anyone else.
She says them anyways. “In the end, I had a pretty good one. I don’t think tossing pulse bombs at me to teach me not to drop them counts as catch in the park, but what the hell would I know?” Lena shifts where she stands, digging a heel into the dirt. “For what it’s worth...I would have liked to call you dad.” The last bit comes out almost silent, almost too quiet for the drone to capture and almost too quiet for anyone but a supersoldier to hear. Angela comes up to Lena and wraps her in a hug, and Lena loses it again, crying into her shoulder.
“Oh, liebling,” she says, guiding Lena away from the gravestone after pausing for a moment at it. “Come back to the hotel room. Winston’s worried sick about you.”
Jack shuts off his connection to the drone, heading out of Arlington through the shadows.
It takes him months to locate Lena, find where she’s settling into civilian life. With the networking today, it hardly takes any time at all to pick out some perennials and have them sent to her apartment. The hardest part, he thinks, as he clicks the anonymous option, was not having them sent with the message, ‘to my daughter.’

your nori headcanons, hand them over
Wait. People are actually interested in my Nori HCs? Holy shit *screams in happiness*
Ironically I been working on a post dedicated to my Nori HCs! but am going to throw a “few” in here.
Nori Doorman! HCs 🗝️
(watch all of this get absolutely wrecked when we fully get to see her character alongside others.)
(Btw some of my HC are connected to my personal speculations)
• I honestly can’t see this woman being straight. So fuck it. She is pansexual now.
• I was thinking of HC her as neurodivergent! But not sure rn.
• Nori was named that way by herself because after she found out about sushi’s existence, and after finding out the algae used in sushi is called “Nori”, she later named herself after that bc she thought the word sounded cute.
• If robots could eat human food, she would definitely try all kinds of sushi or just the algae for curiosity.
• We canonically don’t know if Nori was a WD that had parents or was a WD who gained sentience. But personally I like to think she was one of the many WDs who gained sentience.
• She actually gained sentience when she was slightly younger and moments after the extinction of humanity.
• She was around her early 30s when she passed away.
• She met Khan before the WDF existed or when Khan wasn’t even considered a leader.
• They met while both found themselves in a pickle after trying to scavenge scraps for personal projects.
• I do think if they were WDs who attended high-school,they would have met after being paired for a school project.
• If Nori ever went to high school she definitely strikes me as a “shy nerdy geeky girl but gets super exited when talking about her passions”.
•Nori and Khan were roughly the same age when they started dating but Khan started to age physically more faster bc of overwork and stress after becoming the colony’s leader.
• Honestly Khan and Nori’s relationship strikes me as:
“Big menacing dog who is actually a goofball” and “Tiny black kitten who looks adorable but will commit war crimes if provoked”
• Honestly I can only see Nori’s and Khan’s relationship being so fucking wholesome, they were lovebirds your honor. Ofc before shit hit the fan.
• She used to spend time with the WDF and join in their card games!
• Nori was incredibly good at card/board games. She always somehow won when playing card games with the WDF. The WDF still let her join bc it was fun. (And bc she was their leader’s wife)
•The way of how imagine Nori’s voice is sort of a smooth and soft voice. Slightly monotone and a bit high pitch. Like her voice immediately gives “shy soft woman who also happens to be a mother” vibes.
Her voice does shift a bit when she gets really excited! (Or any strong emotion) Completely loosing her monotony and smoothness a bit.
The best voice claim I can think for rn her is actually Candace from Genshin Impact, just make her voice a bit high pitched.
Also fun fact! Candaces english VA (Shara Kirby) is the same VA of Serial Designation-J!
Another Voice claim i can come up is Andrea Storm Kaden!
She is a singer who performed in a lot of fan songs of video-games. (tattletail,FNAF,BATIM, Overwatch, etc. She did a lot of collabs with JT Music and I think a few with TryHardNinja.)
• She is actually shorter than the average WDs,but just by a few inches. She isn’t an ant like Uzi.
• Her hair is much more longer and a few shades lighter than Uzi’s.
• Her eyes are also much saturated compared to her daughter’s eyes color.
•She also has cute lil chompers! Tho they dont look the same as the DDs. They are smaller and shorter,Uzi inherited that trait from her.
• Uzi’s necklace actually belonged to Nori.
• When Nori got her hands on this necklace and started wearing it,she never took it off.
• She definitely strikes me as someone who is into cottage-gore.
• She is a goth mom, thats it. Like and old-school goth mom. (Like she is more into the “feminine” part of goth,if I can explain myself)
• She constantly wore black dresses. The one she wore the most was a simple off shoulder black dress with short sleeves and frills on it. It was made from a very thin and light material. And it had a purple flower pattern on it.
• She wore this dress while wearing black combat boots (Like most WDs) and her necklace.
• She had a pair of black combat boots but this time her boots lace was a purple color.
• She also had a WDs jacket! And occasionally wore it. It was purple.
• One of her many hobbies was painting. She didn’t do it all the time, just occasionally. Khan still kept some of them hidden away.
• She was definitely one of those girls who would see true crime content.
• She would sometimes put screamo music when cleaning.
•She definitely listened to grunge, goth, metal music
•She isn’t much of a singer but she can hum pretty well!
•She hums when doing chores or when comforting Uzi.
•Uzi’s and Nori’s love language would definitely be touch. I can see her humming as she caresses Uzi’s head,as Uzi lays it on her mother’s lap. She did this whenever her kid had a rough time.
•Nori was the only person who could calm Uzi down whenever she went “feral”.
•Uzi would probably be more close and vulnerable with Nori.
• Nori is probably one of the most softest/chillest person. But make her really pissed and honey you are dead. (May or may not be literal)
• Whenever she is just angry but not necessarily pissed she is more a cold, piercing kind of anger. The kind to stare into your soul and makes you question all your life choices.
Note: Btw I theorized she was related to the AS and actually had it since EP2! So have some of that!
• She was covered in scars, bumps and dents, but she mostly covered them up with her clothes or the AS did the job healing the scars. Or she covered them up by literally painting over herself.
As to why she had these scars? Well lets say she got herself into questionable and dangerous situations.
• She would replace a lot of the broken mirrors that she would break with her AS in her house,in secret.
• She would occasionally use her AS when doing chores.
EP3 spoilers!
.
.
.
Note: We don’t know if Nori consumed Oil whe she was alive, since I theorized she had the AS. But I have some HCs if she did:
• Sometimes she would arrive at her home, alone or when Khan was sleeping. Wearing long forearmed-length black gloves, laced up with purple/white lace.
• She would carry a dark colored bag (that looked like those tote bags but is was bigger and the material was much more thicker) that leaked oil at the bottom.
• Her dress would have dry or fresh stains. She also reeked of oil.
• She started out as frenemies with Yeva, but they later became besties.
• The 2 would hang out a lot alone.
• Nori constantly visited Yeva at her house, but she never invited Yeva to her house. Since Nori was always sort of messy, and she was self conscious about that in the past.
• They both would probably talk all kinds of things.
• She would definitely teach Yeva 1 or 2 things about her AS powers, since Nori has more experience with her AS abilities than Yeva.
• Nori would sometimes speak russian to Yeva. Meanwhile Yeva would speak English to Nori. Just for the funsies.
• Nori actually met Baby Doll at some point! She even held her.
• I always thought of Nori as a more artistic oriented woman but EP3 seems to make me think of her more of the scientific side.
• So she is a bit of both but her artistic side is showed more often than her scientific side.
•Nori personally customized her own necklace and helped Yeva with it when it came to her bracelet.
Side Note: Ok wtf that was more than I expected jesus. Anyways yeah this is just like 5% of my interpretation and HCs if Nori…yeah I am
✨mentally not ok✨

Hey, I heard that Microsoft might bring back development for Overwatch. And honestly, I'm a bit wary on this.
Yeah I'm not seeing any confirmable news for this. The only recent solid news is that the acquisition went through, everything else just sounds like pointless gaming journalist speculation rather than actual news indicating what Microsoft plans on doing with OW. I have seen that Microsoft seems less hostile to unionization than ActiBlizz was on its own, and that Microsoft laid off 10,000 staff so... basic par-for-the-course late capitalist hellscape stuff.
Honestly the game itself is already an obvious reflection of how much of a mess ActiBlizz has been ever since their abusive work environment came to light that like... I'm honestly in this state of, "yeah no my resting state with Blizzard is now one of perpetual disappointment. They can't let me down because I don't expect them to be able to find their own ass with both hands and a map." So go nuts, Microsoft. The bar is in the Marianas Trench.

Alright more on Reaper and Illari because I just went through all her elimination lines and found something interesting. Not only that but recent discussions on Reapers character (and the possibility of his death) got me thinking. So let's get into it.
Specifically;
REAPER IS THE ONLY CHARACTER, WHEN SHE KILLS THEM, SHE IS SOFT SPOKEN WITH-
Her line; "No more suffering for you.", is spoken softer then any other elimination line she has. The only voice line that comes even close to the tone she uses for Reaper is Kiriko and even then she's not as soft, more making fun of Kiriko if anything. If you also look at all the other voice lines, most of them are about getting the job done and not regretting the kill. Meanwhile with Reaper she genuinely sounds sad that she had to kill him.
This leads me to think that there is a possibility that Reaper actully might get a redemption arc, and if that happens it might start with Illari. So far when it comes to the newer characters they are either characters who have been hinted at for a long time (Ramattra, Sojourn, Junker Queen) or characters introduced to expand character arcs, locations and events (Kiriko and Lifeweaver).
Initially Illari seemed like a character that didn't fit either of those descriptions, but if I'm right in my speculation that she will be important to Reaper's character arc then she would fit in the same category as Kiriko and Lifeweaver. Not only that but her only have a surface level knowledge of Overwatch due to only studying them could be helpful because she wouldn't have any personal connection to Reaper or Reyes. Hell maybe the reason why she's so isolated in the lore is because of this!
I honestly think that if these two were to interact it would bring out the more human side of Reaper. Mostly because she seems like a combination of Reyes and what we can assume a younger, fresh to Blackwatch Cassidy. Mainly in the elimination lines. Which I think would actally affect Reaper in some way, like it'd fucking deck him with a bunch of shit he hasn't thought about in awhile.
Not only that but her hostility towards Moira makes sense if you look at it through this context. If she's going to be important in Reaper's arc she's going to find out what Moira has done, and we can see what her reaction would be...
Murder, her reaction is murder.
In conclusion, if Reaper doesn't die and he ends up getting a redemption arc I want it to start with Illari. That is all.
