My friend's brand new baby girl, Vianney, who was born on Sept 1st, has been in the NICU since Thursday (Sept 14th) and has just been diagnosed with hemimegalencephaly. It's a rare, non-hereditary genetic mutation that caused a malformation of one side of her brain, causing seizures. She'll have to stay in the hospital for several more weeks while they try to get her seizures to slow down. She needs brain surgery but has to make it to 6 months before she can have it. Unless a miracle happens, she will need special care her whole life.
I work for the Little Sisters of the Poor and one of the sisters has suggested we start a novena asking for the intercession of the newly beatified Ulma Family, particularly asking for the special intercession of their unborn baby that was beatified with them, for a complete healing of Vianney.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could spread the word to everyone you know, asking them to help pray for a miracle for little Vianney and her family.
Parents are Jennifer & Shad, and Vianney has two older sisters, Cecilia & Zelie.
Prayer for the Intercession of the Ulma Family
Almighty and eternal God,
we thank You for the testimony of the heroic love of the spouses Józef and Wiktoria with their children, who gave their lives to save persecuted Jews.
May their prayers and example support families in Christian life and help everyone to follow the true path of holiness.
Lord, if it is in accordance with Your will, kindly grant the grace for the complete healing of little Vianney, for which we are asking You through their intercession and count them among the Blessed.
Through Christ Our Lord
Amen
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be...

Charity is one of the fundamental virtues of the Catholic religion. The moral doctrine preached by Christ is comprised in the words: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like to this. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments depends the whole law and the prophets" (St. Matthew 22:37-40).
As in everything else, the Holy Helpers are our models also in charity. Charity consists in wishing well for our fellow men, rejoicing with the glad and sympathizing with the sad. It includes also doing good to all, being friendly, lenient, meek, and helpful toward them. We are loving our neighbor when we assist the poor and distressed, when we harbor no envy for those better off than ourselves, when we esteem the just for their virtue, and hate not the sinner but their sin.
We love our neighbor by not just having these sentiments in our heart, but by showing them in our actions.

The Anvil Novena
Tumblr media
(The Sigil Of TARTAROUKHOS)
There is folklore that says if an anvil were to fall into the pit, it would take nine (9) days before it reached the bottom of Tartarus. Naturally, I wanted to adapt that into a Novena working.
Tumblr media
Novenas, for anyone unfamiliar, are nine (9) day prayers said to achieve some goal or effect. Typically, they are said in-tandem with candles lit to Saints, Angels, Mary, or the Trinity. However, there are also plenty made for specific "conditions" (love, luck, money, cursing, you name it!), as well as for non-Christian spirits, notably African and Latine spirits. They have even broken into neopagan spaces, with people creating devotional Novena Candles for their deities.
I grew up with novenas, being raised Catholic with a Mexican parent, and I still incorporate them, as I feel they are honestly a wonderful way to work with spirits. When I read about this bit of folklore, I decided to approach Hekate about it.
Tumblr media
She gave me the following working:
Prepare a black candle made to last 9 days. Place it into [a bowl of] spring water, and cense it with chthonic herbs of your choice [(myrrh when in doubt)]. A petition may be placed in the water, written on the candle, or in any other way that you like. You must place under the bowl the sigil of TARTAROUKHOS (see above) With this sigil, it is best if it is made in some sacred fashion, and blessed by the witch. Once ready, place the bowl in an appropriate place and pray: TARTAROUKHOS TARTAROUKHOS TARTAROUKHOS O Anvil of Heaven Where ARES’ sword is forged O Anvil of Heaven Who’s steel smashes bone O Anvil of Heaven HEPHAESTUS’ sacred friend Fall, fall, fall for me Far, far, far for me Into the black pit you bear my prayer Crushing all who stand in your way Into the black pit fall O Anvil of Heaven Fall for me, fall for Hekate [Petition] AMEN Pray [this] daily for 9 days and your petition will be granted.
Tumblr media
There was some caution going into this: Namely, be careful what you wish for, and who you are wishing to. These spirits aren't necessarily kindly or friendly to people. Being more primordial as well, they aren't very delicate in their approach. Caution is advised with this working, given its power and potential effects.
If anyone here does attempt it, please feel free to share your results here! Reblog or comment to let me know how it went!

When I was waiting in the pew for confession on Saturday, this was in it in front of me. No one claimed it, so I read part of it and brought it home. I’m going to start this one this Friday. If I do, the Novena will end on the Epiphany!

NEUVAINE A SAINTE JEANNE D'ARC
NOVENA TO SAINT JOAN OF ARC
My English translations are not the best I am sorry.
╰┈➤ Premier jour (first day)
Jeanne, the Lord has instructed the Archangel Saint Michael to appear to you and announce your mission to save the kingdom of France.
Jeanne, your great desire to serve God and to do everything to please him, makes you pronounce the “fiat” despite your fears of not being worthy and capable of accomplishing this mission.
Heaven has given you a sword to fight, and the voices of Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret to guide you.
Intercede so that we may always respond to our vocation.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Deuxième jour (second day)
Jeanne, you visit the Dauphin of France.
You reveal to him that he is the true heir of France, and son of a king, that he will be crowned in Reims and that you have come to help him fulfill this desire of Heaven.
You then fought many battles against the English, and you always emerged victorious.
You also give battle to sin in your own camp and you ask your soldiers to regain the state of grace.
Intercede now so that our country remembers its baptism And finds the way to the sacraments.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Troisième jour (third day)
Easter week of this year 1430, while you are in a ditch in Melun, the voices of Saints Catherine and Marguerite announce to you that you will be taken prisoner before the feast of Saint John and that God will come to you help during this test.
You are then overwhelmed with anguish and tempted not to submit to the divine will in order to save your life.
Pray for us, that we always do God's will, not our own.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Quatrième jour (fourth day)
It is on May 26, after a hard battle, that you are taken by an archer from the opposing camp.
You are thus arrested and accused by the Inquisition of heresy and idolatry.
Malgré tes craintes et tes peurs, tu te laisses emprisonner.
Despite your fears and fears, you allow yourself to be imprisoned.
You keep trust in your voices, and you ask for their intercession in order to answer the questions that are put to you.
Ask God, for us, the courage and audacity to affirm our faith.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Cinquième jour (fifth day)
You are morally tortured, beset by numerous and interminable interrogations, abandoned and betrayed by everyone, including the King, treated like a prisoner of war, bodily threatened by the guards of your cell, accused of numerous faults that you do not have not committed, without a lawyer.
Always docile to the advice of your voices, you respond without fear to everything that is asked of you.
Intercede that we always have recourse to prayer in our difficulties.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Sixième jour (sixth day)
Tous tes accusateurs s’acharnent pour te faire faillir, pour te faire contredire les faits que tu relates;
All your accusers work hard to make you fail, to make you contradict the facts you relate;
ils t’accusent, te menacent de tortures physiques, te harcèlent sans cesse durant des heures;
they accuse you, threaten you with physical torture, harass you constantly for hours;
in vain, you always have the answer to all the questions, until the day when, unable to take it any longer, frightened by death, you deny everything.
Then, by the grace of God, you courageously accept martyrdom and reconsider your denials.
Despite the recognition of some of your judges of divine intervention in your conduct, you are condemned to death by torture by fire.
Pray for France to raise its face and remember its promises made to God.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Septième jour (seventh day)
Jeanne, you are supernaturally supported by Heaven, but you cannot escape the anguish caused by the sentence.
You would have rather "be beheaded seven times than burnt and reduced to ashes."
At the stake, once bound, you ask pardon of the English and of all your enemies, for the battles waged against them, and, in a loud and clear voice, you forgive all those who have condemned you .
« Mes saintes ne m’ont pas trompée, ma mission était de Dieu. Saint Michel, sainte Marguerite et sainte Catherine, vous tous, mes frères et sœurs du Paradis, venez à mon aide… »
“My saints did not deceive me, my mission was from God. Saint Michael, Saint Margaret and Saint Catherine, all of you, my brothers and sisters in Paradise, come to my aid…”
In the midst of the flames, you look at the cross presented to you, and you pronounce the Name of Jesus before dying.
Be our model in obedience, in trust in God, and perseverance in our mission
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Huitième jour (eighth day)
As the executioner puts out the fire so that everyone can see the disfigured corpse of the one who made them tremble, he pushes aside the ashes and the miracle appears before their frightened eyes:
Ton cœur est là, rempli d’un sang vermeil et semblant vivre encore !
Your heart is there, filled with vermilion blood and seeming live again!
Sulfur and oil are then sprinkled on it, the fire resumes and then goes out again, leaving it still intact.
Worried about this miracle and fearing the emotion of the people, the cardinal of England orders that your bones, your ashes and especially your heart be thrown immediately into the Seine.
The executioner then said: "I am very afraid of being damned for having burned a saint".
Cries rise in the crowd: “We are all lost because a saint has been burned! »
Help us to serve God and seek only the glory of Heaven.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ Neuvième Jour (ninth day)
After your death, the prosperity of the English in France died. From the stake in Rouen, they knew only disappointments and defeats.
To their great shame and confusion, they were thrown out of all the countries they had conquered.
All those who had judged the Maid in bad faith died shortly after hers.
Bishop Cauchon, enriched by the King of England, died suddenly; he was excommunicated by the Pope and his bones were thrown to wild beasts.
Thus is fulfilled the prediction made to Jeanne, in her prison, by her voices:
« Tu auras secours. Tu seras délivrée par une grande victoire. Prends tout en gré. Ne te soucie pas de ton martyre. Tu viendras enfin au Royaume du Paradis. »
"You will have help. You will be delivered with a great victory. Take it all in stride. Don't worry about your martyrdom. You will finally come to the Kingdom of Heaven."
Let the resurrection be the only goal of our life.
Be present at our side and still contribute to the sanctification of our country.
Tumblr media
TO BE RECITED AFTER EACH DAILY PRAYER:
Prions.
Amen.
Let us pray. Saint Joan of Arc, your martyrdom is God's great victory over our enemies. Intercede, from the Kingdom of Heaven, that we may be preserved from wars against our country and attacks against our faith. May France remember that she is the Eldest Daughter of the Church. Lord, we give you thanks because you blessed our country by giving us Joan of Arc. Still arouses many vocations to keep intact the apostolic mission of France. Amen.
+ Pater, Ave, Gloria

Prayer to St. Joseph
Tumblr media
Saint Joseph, how fitting it was that at the hour of your death Jesus should stand at your bedside with Our Lady, the sweetness and hope of all mankind. You gave your entire life to their service; at death you enjoyed the consolation of dying in Their loving arms.
You accepted death in the spirit of loving submission to the Will of God, and this acceptance crowned your hidden life of virtue. Yours was a merciful judgment, for your foster-Son, for whom you had cared so lovingly, was your Judge, and Our Lady was your advocate.
You looked into eternity and to your everlasting reward with confidence. If our Lord regards every corporal and spiritual work of mercy, performed in behalf of our fellow men out of love for Him, as done to Himself, and promises heaven as a reward, what must have been the extent of His gratitude to you who in the truest sense of the word have received Him, at the sacrifice of your strength and rest, and even your life, with a love which surpassed the love of all fathers.
Saint Joseph, I thank God for your privilege of being able to die in the arms of Jesus and Mary. As a token of your gratitude to God, obtain for me the grace of a happy death. Help me to spend each day in preparation for death. May I, too, accept death in the spirit of resignation to God's Holy Will, and die, as you did, in the arms of Jesus, strengthened by Holy Viaticum, and in the arms of Mary, with her rosary in my hand and her name on my lips!
MEMORARE Remember, most pure spouse of Mary, ever Virgin, my loving protector, Saint Joseph, that no one ever had recourse to your protection or asked for your aid without obtaining relief. Confiding, therefore, in your goodness, I come before you and humbly implore you. Despise not my petitions, foster-father of the Redeemer, but graciously receive them. Amen.
Based on the final (ninth) day of the Novena to St. Joseph located on EWTN.

WHAT IS THE IMPOSSIBLE NOVENA?
“Also known as the “Walk of the Incarnation,” this is a 9 month Novena where we journey with Our Lady throughout her entire pregnancy from the Feast of the Annunciation to Christmas Day. 3/25-12/25
It is an opportunity to ask Mary to take 3 of our most “impossible” requests and present them to Jesus, to plead with Him on our behalf.
Mary's "Fiat" at the Annunciation was the moment when she invited Jesus to dwell within her womb which became His nurturing home for nine months. Mary's Immaculate womb was the place where Her Son's tiny Body not only dwelled, but grew and developed a bit more every single day.
On March 25th, we invite Jesus to dwell within us in a uniquely intimate way too. As we meditate on Jesus growing in Mary's womb, we imagine Him expanding within our own hearts...growing to make room for Him to abide more fully each day.
During this time, it is recommended to attend mass and receive the sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion on the 25th of each month.”
I just found this. It’s never too late to sign up because God is outside of time and always uses our prayers! 🙏🏻
“The only thing you NEED for this Novena are the prayers. But we wanted to have a more comprehensive experience available for you. A place to come back to when you have questions or need some help. A place to learn more, seek guidance, and find friendship. There is no right or wrong way to use/explore this website. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.”

Everything you need to know about Pentecost
Tumblr media
By CNA Staff | 26 May 2023
This weekend, the Church celebrates Pentecost, one of the most important feast days of the year that concludes the Easter season and celebrates the beginning of the Church.
The timing and origins of Pentecost
Pentecost always occurs 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus and 10 days after his ascension into heaven.
Because Easter is a moveable feast without a fixed date, and Pentecost depends on the timing of Easter, Pentecost can fall anywhere between May 10 and June 13.
The timing of these feasts is also where Catholics get the concept of the novena — nine days of prayer — because in Acts 1, Mary and the Apostles prayed together “continuously” for nine days after the Ascension leading up to Pentecost.
Traditionally, the Church prays the novena to the Holy Spirit in the days before Pentecost.
The name of the day itself is derived from the Greek word “pentecoste,” meaning 50th.
There is a parallel Jewish holiday, Shavu’ot, which falls 50 days after Passover.
Shavu’ot is sometimes called the festival of weeks, referring to the seven weeks since Passover.
Originally a harvest feast, Shavu’ot now commemorates the sealing of the Old Covenant on Mount Sinai, when the Lord revealed the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Every year, the Jewish people renew their acceptance of the gift of the Torah on this feast.
What happens at Pentecost?
In the Christian tradition, Pentecost is the celebration of the person of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus, who were gathered together in the Upper Room.
A “strong, driving” wind filled the room where they were gathered and tongues of fire came to rest on their heads, allowing them to speak in different languages so that they could understand each other.
It was such a strange phenomenon that some people thought the Christians were just drunk.
However, Peter pointed out that it was only the morning and said the phenomenon was caused by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit also gave the apostles the other gifts and fruits necessary to fulfill the great commission — to go out and preach the Gospel to all nations.
It fulfills the New Testament promise from Christ (Luke 24:46-49) that the Apostles would be “clothed with power” before they would be sent out to spread the Gospel.
Where’s that in the bible?
The main event of Pentecost (the strong driving wind and tongues of fire) takes place in Acts 2:13, though the events immediately following (Peter’s homily, the baptism of thousands) continue through verse 41.
Happy Birthday, Church!
It was right after Pentecost that Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit, preached his first homily to Jews and other non-believers in which he opened the scriptures of the Old Testament, showing how the prophet Joel prophesied events and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
He also told the people that the Jesus they crucified is the Lord and was raised from the dead, which “cut them to the heart.”
When they asked what they should do, Peter exhorted them to repent of their sins and to be baptized.
According to the account in Acts, about 3,000 people were baptized following Peter’s sermon.
For this reason, Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church — Peter, the first Pope, preaches for the first time and converts thousands of new believers.
The apostles and believers, for the first time, were united by a common language, a common zeal, and a common purpose to go and preach the Gospel.
Pentecost vestments and customs around the world
Typically, priests will wear red vestments on Pentecost, symbolic of the burning fire of God’s love and the tongues of fire that descended on the apostles.
However, in some parts of the world, Pentecost is also referred to as “WhitSunday,” or White Sunday, referring to the white vestments that are typically worn in Britain and Ireland.
The white vestment is symbolic of the dove of the Holy Spirit and typical of the vestments that catechumens desiring baptism wear on that day.
An Italian Pentecost tradition is to scatter rose leaves from the ceiling of the churches to recall the miracle of the fiery tongues.
In some places in Italy, Pentecost is sometimes called Pascha Rosatum (Easter roses).
In France, it is tradition to blow trumpets during Mass to recall the sound of the driving wind of the Holy Spirit.
In Asia, it is typical to have an extra service, called genuflexion, during which long poems and prayers are recited.
In Russia, Mass-goers often carry flowers or green branches during Pentecost services.
