“Is this your usual route with women you’re sleeping with? Take them to every restaurant chain in the city?”

With a shrug, Ava says something to the hostess (not a maitre-d, she looked it up) and they follow her to a table in the back.

If nothing else, it is slightly more personable than TGI Friday’s. The table they're sitting in is actually a bit enclosed - with vanity separates surrounding their spot (with dragons designed in them of course) and a fancy little chandelier hangs down over their table.

“Women, men, you know, whatever works.”

Beatrice picks up her menu, but keeps her focus on Ava. “Ah, so you cast a wide net then?”

Ava nods. “Absolutely, I feel like I hit the jackpot with sexuality. My cup runneth over - or whatever that saying is.”

“You’ve got the gist of it.”

“So what about you?” Ava asks, not even bothering with her menu. At this point Beatrice is convinced Ava just circles chain restaurants seven days a week.

It strikes her as almost humorous how casual the question is dropped - when at one time it would have shut her down for hours. “Lesbian, formerly severely repressed.”

“Ooh that’s a fun time, huh?”

“You’ve no idea.” Beatrice smiles, opening her menu. “I have a difficult time imagining you repressing anything.”

“You’re not wrong, I suppose.” Ava laughs, it’s so damned infectious. “I was more…explorative, I guess. I had a bit of a late start on the whole ‘sexuality’ thing, figuring out what I was into, so when I had the chance I really dove in head first. Not like…literally head first, well okay I did give head first, but like…nevermind” She picks up her water glass, holding it to her lips. “College Ava was…a lot.”

The urge to tell her that current Ava is still quite a bit to take in is there, but the way Ava sips on her drink and keeps one eye on her tells Beatrice she’s almost expecting that - so Beatrice decides to pivot. “Where did you study?”

no thoughts head empty the oppressive stagnancy of legacy in ever after high dragging me round the block yet again

it's such a shame that we get so little explanation about the actual mechanics of destiny, which is the entire premise of the show, bc it's so juicy. like what power does destiny hold when you rip away milton's lies and centuries of assumptions and traditions. esp bc despite raven signing herself as the evil queen in the real storybook of legends, when the snow white fairytale actually happens in dragon games she's playing one of the seven dwarves and her mother has reprised her role. like how much of that was because of the characters' actions and how much was destiny pulling on old, familiar threads. keeps me up at night.

a lot of this is probably just like, plot holes and writer hot potato but i like making it that deep, that's half of the fun. my personal interpretation is that fate is a wild thing that desires repetition and they developed the system of fairytale legacy bloodlines to keep those repetitions predictable and contained, instead of wreaking havoc whenever and wherever they please. 

which lends itself to some really juicy exploration of how legacy is a duty as much as it is a privilege, and how to be a princess or a witch or a hero or a dragon is to be the same thing in the end: the lamb destiny slaughters on the altar to sate the ever-ravenous narrative. to keep the flock safe. keep the unknown that prowls beyond the beaten path at bay. because if a there is always a mother who will be cruel, or a maiden who will fall into a sleep like death, or a child who will become a bird, isn’t it better to know who, and how, and when? isn’t better if it’s you, who has known your whole life that you must be eaten, be poisoned, be stripped of your humanity, rather than anybody else, who wasn’t raised to see it as an honour instead of a great and terrible injustice?

Been writing quite a lot of WH fic in my spare time recently and I realised I've kinda accidentally created a consistent interpretation of how the neighbourhood would see Frank X Eddie (liking each other or being together but on the down-low):

To be clear these aren't my theories on what's going on in the ARG, it's like... just in the world of the WH show itself, without getting deep into the horror and mystery elements, and therefore excluding facts like that in canon there's probably going to be homophobia themes to the story iirc. This is how I imagine it'd unfold if it just happened normally without whatever scariness is going on in Home as a factor.

Also I like playing around with lots of different ideas and dynamics and interpretations; this is just a bit of fun.

Sally:

Has no idea, because she's not paying attention to them.

Would be like "Cool. Now about MY NEXT PLAY!" if it was pointed out to her.

Unless she could make it into something dramatic.

(Extra: like if she thought of a way to basically make a performance out of it, I can imagine she'd do that. Eddie and Frank would both think she was being very strange.)

Poppy:

K N O W S

Possibly before even Eddie does, and trying to drop him hints.

Thinks they'd be wonderful together.

(Extra: She wouldn't think it was her place to say anything outright, especially because that could risk outing either of them, but she'd be like "Frank can be very protective of you, you know..." HINT HINT.)

Howdy:

Has a vague suspicion.

Doesn't think it's really his business.

DOES think they're cute together.

(Extra: it wouldn't really interest or concern him much so he wouldn't feel a need to offer input or say anything, but he would sometimes see them talking and be like 'lmao these bitches gay! good for them, good for them,' in his head.)

Wally:

Knows Eddie & Frank 'love each other' but is unclear on how this differs from how he loves all his neighbours.

Would be very happy for them if someone explained it to him.

(Extra: he wouldn't pick up on anything particularly special about them/their relationship, he just assumes that all his neighbours love each other because, in his opinion, what's not to love. He'd also likely be one of the first people either of them would feel comfortable telling.)

(Extra 2: also no-one would ever explain it to him properly. Eddie would get into embarrassed blethering and Frank wouldn't know what to say beyond that it's "just different," Barnaby would keep giving joke answers, Poppy and Howdy would just be like 🤷not my place, and Sally and Julie would keep telling him things that only made him more confused.)

Barnaby:

Would eventually pick up on it, and take great joy in teasing either of them.

Ultimately supportive, though.

(Extra: He'd greatly enjoy irritating Frank and making Eddie flustered in ways that meant nobody else but them knew what he was hinting at lol)

Julie:

#1 Frank X Eddie shipper.

She finds out because Frank talks to her about their feelings, and she's rooting for them from then on.

(Extra: she'd try to be Frank's wingman and just end up confusing and scaring Eddie and making Frank facepalm.)

Natural team dynamic progression over stream for Blue team (Soulfire) [Day One of purgatory]:

Split into two main groups—

Farming/base-bound: Tina, Missa, Lenay, Niki

Fighters/Runners: Bad, Tubbo, Pierre

Tubbo is main official leader, and Bad and Tina have been acting as co-leaders per their groups for the most part. Tina had been the biggest support leader and the main person keeping morale up within the group-- Missa, Lenay, and Niki being her main supply runners/farmers that she distributed tasks through. Pierre has become main runner who turns in missions, while Tubbo and Bad run distraction. Majority of plans are thought up by Tina, Bad, Tubbo, and Pierre, and are run through Tubbo before execution.

They’ve maintained lead the entire stream for the most part.

#qsmp #this is mostly my personal tracking so I can keep note of character dynamics #I find it really interesting how natural leadership progresses #and Tina has been MVP in keeping them all tied together #she checks in continuously esp on the quiet members like niki missa and lenay #she is the backbone of their opporations handling all farming management and tasks #without her they’d have nothing to turn in #I’m so proud of her lol I didn’t know Tina before qsmp but I would die for her #this is not without noting other members moments like missa getting apples and lenay getting dirt #niki has been fueling them too #bad and Tubbo have been PVP heavy to protect Pierre and do their best to keep close ranks #Tubbo in particular killed a lot of people. probably the most out of all the team #and bad tends to play tubbos close backup #Pierre also had a moment where he snuck in and turned in a BUNCH of missions unprotected #everyone’s done a good job!! they are a very cohesive team #esp with a lot of players not usually present on the server
