Also difficult to answer since they are all happy endings... but I think that Pick a Star on the Dark Horizon (Follow the Light) has the most rewarding happy ending after all the angst I put them through 😅

Umm. uh. pass? I honestly dont know adsfkjh but I like writing multichapter fics and weaving the different parts of the story together (idk if I'm any good at it though lmaooo)

1. How many works do you have on A03? 19 atm but that's about to become a lot more from next month lmao.
2. What’s your total A03 word count? 46,413
3. What fandoms do you write for? The Vampire Chronicles and as of right now, nothing else.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Nothing's Fair in Love and War Drunken Matrimony Lupercalia Experimentations and The Long Road
5. Do you respond to comments? I do, always!! I love responding to comments, it's one of my favourite things about writing fics tbh.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? The way I've had to think about this for too long because several of my fics could fit here. I think I'd say The Long Road because although there is hope (and the knowledge from canon) that things will get better for Louis, but he's still in the depths of his darkness and there's such a long way to go re: his recovery. That or Let Sleeping Lions Lie. (I would've said my siren au, but I think that's more my darkest ending to a fic, as opposed to the angstiest.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'd say it's either Second Chances or Drunken Matrimony. I think they're also very sweet endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics? No, no that I know of anyway. If anyone is hating on my fics, I don't know about it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do but it's canon compliant, so no actual sex. There's two reasons for that: 1.) because I'm not quite there yet with wanting to write full on smut and 2.) because I genuinely just really enjoy writing canon complaint smut. As much as I really love reading smut, I feel like there should be more fics that embrace and explore the vampire's canon asexuality. It's a part of canon that I really enjoy and think is very important, so I like to bring some of that into my fics too!
Also, when it comes to Louis' character in particular, imo anyway, it's a good insight into him during IWTV. Because even though it's not actual sex, I find it interesting to explore how he might be reluctant to even just share blood in an intimate manner, because of his repression re: his queerness in that time.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I haven't written any crossovers yet and I don't know that I ever will tbh. It's just not something I see myself writing.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, I hope not anyway. I'm not aware of it if that has happened.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I haven't, but if anyone ever wanted to, that would be cool.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but I'd totally be down to if someone wanted to co-write with me one day!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Loustat all day everyday!! (Though Loumand follows extremely close behind.)
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Ngl, I always intend on finishing any WIPs I have. Even if it takes me a while, I will always try to complete one if I've already started it.
16. What are your writing strengths? I think just the fact that I'm able to wing it. I don't plan anything when I'm writing. I always have a basic idea as to what I want the fic to be about, but when it comes to actually writing it, I don't plan/draft anything. I just go for it and make it up as I go.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm trying to improve on making my fics longer. I think I'm slowly getting better, but there's still progress to be made lmao.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I quite like it. I have written some small bits in French but that's using Google translate. (ik, ik. Not overly accurate) I think if the character speaks another language that they would use relatively frequently, then I think it can be quite good to add it in.
19. First fandom you wrote for? I'd like to say TVC, which is technically right, but years ago when I was still in school, I had to do some creative writing for English, and I did write what was basically Crimson Peak fanfic. So depending on how you look at it, it's either Crimson Peak or TVC.
And actually, now I think about it, ever since primary school, I've always based my creative writing for school off things I was into. So on that basis, who knows what my first ever fic was about lmfao. For the sake of this, we'll say it's TVC.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Tbh, I don't know if I have a favourite. All my fics are my babies, and if I try to say just one of them, then I'll just be like "Oh wait actually, what about this one? Oh but I really love this one too!" And it would keep going until I've mentioned all of them, so I can't choose.

1. How many works do you have? - currently posted on ao3 I have 57 works total. However I have almost twice as many wips it's bad
2. Ao3 word count? - 395,068 ..... I've got a wip that's almost over 100k but it's also been there for years so I doubt that'll change anytime soon
3. What fandoms do you write for? - of the fics I have on ao3, I have written for detroit become human, star wars, resident evil, assassin's creed, and the last kingdom. The fandoms I've written for that are not on my ao3 include lotr/the hobbit, bbc sherlock, bbc merlin, marvel, voltron legendary defender, percy jackson universe, and whatever the Carry On by rainbow rowell fandom is called. Most of those I will never ever write for again lmao
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? - In order:

5. Do you respond to comments? - every single one. I'm obsessed with comments. I have them all saved and stored so I can reread them at any time. Thank you everyone who has ever commented I love you
6. What fic did you write the angstiest ending for? - I only write angst with a happy ending. But I did write You Should Have Killed Me for a friend's dbh x hunger games simulator result and it had an angsty ending by result of being a hunger games simulator.
7. What fic did you write the happiest ending for? - I write many fics w happy endings, but I personally think my fic series Din and Grogu | the Clan of Two Trilogy has the happiest ending because it happened against all odds. It's a fic about Din and Grogu's found family (before BoBF and Mando s3 came out, so it's not canon accurate) and it ends meaningfully to me.
8. Do you get hate on fics? - I have before, but it was all bullshit that showed me the person commenting didn't actually read what I wrote but chose to get mad at something that didn't exist. So it was discarded easily. Otherwise, I've had people try to tell me how to write things, but I ignore them all
9. Do you write smut? - yes. badly.
10. Crossovers? - I wrote a dincobb fic that was set in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, with Din as Kassandra and Cobb as Anais. I also started a serennedy fic set in the detroit: become human universe but never got anywhere close to finishing it.
11. Ever had a fic stolen? - not that I know of lol.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? - I had someone ask to translate one of my fics, and I said yes, but I don't think they've done so yet, which is fine. Other than that, no. But I'd be honoured!
13. Ever co-wrote a fic before? - I started a dincobb fic with a friend years ago but we never got around to finishing it. Someday I still hope to.
14. What's your all time favourite ship? - that's genuinely impossible to pick tbh I've had so many that rewired my brain. top three are probably bagginshield, simarkus, and shadowzel, not in any particular order.
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? - ehhhhh probably the klance fic I started when I was like 15. I don't go to voltron anymore and literally couldn't care less about it. In fact I actively hate it.
16. What are your writing strengths? - I've been told that I'm good at characterisation and plot. I think I suck at plot severely. As for characterisation, I study characters really hard and take a long time to write fics so they remain in character so I'm glad people appreciate that. I also prefer writing dialogue to anything else.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? - Writing. haha I mean exposition.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? I have before, I find it fun but also intimidating.
19. First fandom you wrote for? - The Hobbit :') my first ever fic was a bagginshield fic I started when I was 13. I still mean to finish it someday.
20. Favourite fic you've written? - *sighs* I guess I should say Another Time. It was the most fun to write, and everyone's responses have made all the difficulties of writing it endlessly worth it. It took me months but I'm so happy I finished it, and I'm working on p3 rn I PROMISE. But again the fic I hold most dearly in my heart is still Hold Fast, the Suns Will Rise (Stay)

I don't like a ton of bands/artists specifically, the only band off the top of my head I would say I like that I have heard other people say they don't is AJR.
A childhood memory that you remember vividly:
I remember we had a stump that was pretty wide and flat in our yard I would get dressed up and have tea parties out there with my little siblings. I remember the dress I used to wear and the texture of the stump and the breeze on my face and the pink of my teacups.
Least favorite animal and why:
After spending a few years in proximity with my brothers ferrets I can safely say I will never own one myself.
Hot fandom take:
"the Jedi are the good guys" and "the Jedi did not do right by the clones" are not mutually exclusive statements.
Do you wear any jewelry, if so, what’s your favorite piece:
Sometimes! I wear earrings mostly, but recently a friend made me a bead bracelet spelling out "independent variables" and it is my most treasured possession.
A movie others liked but you didn’t:
Can't think of one off the top of my head. I don't watch a love of TV/movies so I usually make sure I'm gonna like it before I start it.
Three things you love about yourself:
My hair, my writing style, my... ability to be chill? Idk, I am very hard to phase and that makes me handy in an emergency.
A place you hope to visit in the future and why:
England, to visit my Great Aunt's grave.
An actor that gets on your nerves and why:
The lady who teaches the acting classes at my college. Thank you for ensuring I drop my plans to get a theater minor by committing to the "Theater Is A Serious Art Form For Serious People" take. Worst take of all time thank you.

There are ships that annoy me more in theory but the ship that has annoyed me the most in practice is codywan. I'm sorry. But alas. Something something bigger shipping base = more annoying people.
What’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in?
Star Wars hands down, lmao.
List three things you find beautiful about life:
Nature. The sun specifically, and just. Light. I will never get over light. My friends and family, loving them and being loved by them. Stories in all their forms and functions.
Any dreams for the future?
I graduate in three months and right now. If I can hang in there for these next three months I honestly do not care what happens afterwards T-T
How are you really feeling today?
Tired, but hopeful. I am finally getting into a rhythm with work/school/friends, and it's such a relief, and I think in another week or two I might be able to relax for real <3

hmmm. my endings ten to be kind of melancholy/open ending type of shit if it's angsty. but the angstiest, as in it's objectively an upsetting ending for a particular character, i think it's either the sad option on my ruin tastes so sweet (almost as sweet as your lips) or violet soul, followed by inevitable (even though i might even consider that one a happy ending given the Circumstances. like it could have been much worse i feel lol)
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
it's either particular or push me gently (into love)!
8. do you get hate on fics?
yes, but not in the ao3 comments! lol. they Find Me on tumblr and yell their grievances here lmao

i only have a couple of fic that *don't* feature smut of some kind lol. i love writing smut! as for what kind...... the lesbian kind. often really kinky, but not a rule! i've written vanilla stuff, too!

not a lot tbh! but i think a fun one i've done is a star wars/wednesday crossover that i exclusively wrote bc i wanted larissa weems and captain phasma to fuck lololol and i wanted to feature a chrome dildo as hommage to phasma's armour. it's fun, silly and really filthy porn if you wanna give it a read lol. chrome and lipstick

not an entire fic, but i have had my ideas plagiarised, actually by some well-known fandom names. or if i've shared an idea in a chat that person would accidentally get the same idea and post it before me lol. so that has taught me not to share my wips with anyone but my innermost circle lol.

i don't think so? i don't think i'd like be thrilled with that tbh.

i tried, but the person ghosted me lol. it's a shame, i really like her work.

i have spent a significant amount of time in the malora fandom, and i feel that illustrates the type of dynamic i Enjoy lol, but honestly idk if i have a Favourite(TM) ship Ever. i don't control what i'll go Nuts over at any given time.
15. what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
if i *want* to finish it i likely will at some point. if i don't, that means i have lost passion for it and i don't want to finish it anymore.
16. what are your writing strengths?
describing emotional states, pacing, dialogue, Very Specific Character Dynamics, smut, incorporating Motifs(TM) and themes.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
world-building (horrible at it, also super disinterested in it), describing places accurately and in a detailed manner unless it's Just Vibes, and i feel i'd be horrible at writing any kind of action scene. i am very good at Internal stuff, not so good at External stuff, i feel. i also sometimes get a bit too dash happy lol. just end the sentence gurl.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i just find it distracting and unnecessary, and if you don't actually speak that language, i'd say don't bother. it comes out weird. just my opinion though! i think a phrase, a sentence, expression or a single word can be fun, but i wouldn't write a whole dialogue in another language, unless i really wanted to use it for some sort of effect. like a point being made of the character whose pov i was writing not understanding something really important or whatever idk.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
i honestly don't remember. it may have been supergirl?
20. favourite fic you've written?
i can't choooooose. maybe inevitable? i also love particular. and i am quite fond of our little dance and my entire luci/maz cinematic universe haha!! and when the last restraint is gone. i can't pick a favourite child (i can pick Least Favourites though lol).

I do wanna note that there were close runner ups for each of these fandoms tho lol.
Notably: Gat/Aisha/Boss for Saints Row; Chickles (Charles/Pickles), Skwistok (Skwisgaar/Toki), and Skwickles (Skwisgaar/Pickles, at least I think I've typed up their ship name correctly this time) for Metalocalypse; and Rizzy (Roach/Izzy), Blackhands (Ed/Izzy), Steddyhands (Stede/Ed/Izzy), and Tealoranges (Oluwande/Jim) for Our Flag.
First ship: God uhhh...if we're going as far back to the era of 'technically it was shipping, but I didn't have a fandom space for it bc I was a smaller child & didn't really know what shipping was at that point' then probably Phoebe/Helga from Hey Arnold! ? They're one of the first I can recall at least lol. I vaguely recall admitting to a friend in school that I thought they were together 'like ppl are when they're dating' and that got a Reaction lmao.
Last song: Probably not a shock, but a Dethklok song lmao. The whole album fucks tho, so I highly recommend giving the full thing a listen if u like metal at all.
Currently reading:
This Is How You Lose The Time War and just started Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea: Merchant Seamen, Pirates and the Anglo-American Maritime World, 1700-1750.
Last film: Jimi Plays Monterey, I have it playing as I type this actually lol. Prior to that was Army of the Doomstar (could only afford to rent it for rn so u know I made sure to watch it like three times before the rental period ended ldkasfja)
Currently craving: God. this one is actually hard to answer, bc I've been trying not to think abt cravings of any kind the last few months for varying reasons but. If I can go slightly big and possibly outlandish for this one:
A vacation. All expenses paid (including food & travel in at least Comfort+ level if we're flying at all), for me and Housemate. To two places: a week in a place I really wanna go, and another week wherever Housemate really wants to go. I don't care what we do when we get there really, just that we get to hang out and do stuff and not worry abt anything for awhile. I'm gonna add that all expenses paid will also help us cover someone to watch and feed the cats while we're gone (which is an honour tbh, they are sweet lil gremlins, the babiest of boys, and v chill, good company to hang out with.)

My statistics page says 63,964. HOWEVER, I think that includes the 7 old fics I put in a private collection last year because I can't stand the thought of anyone reading them, so I'm not sure what the actual number is.

Rogue One, going on 6 years now!

In theory yes, I always like to, but I tend to forget until it's too late and it would be weird lol
(If you left a comment of chapter 2 of the sweater I'm sorry! I swear I meant to answer them and I love you but now I feel like it's been too long and I feel terrible)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This isn't even a question lmao. (gone, i'm gone)

This is harder, except for the one notable exception I think I write mostly happy endings. But maybe The Sweater? I think it's just overall the happiest.

I haven't yet (but if you hate me now's your chance! I constantly crave attention of literally any kind so please send me hate!)

I do write it, I don't post it. It's clumsy, it's unrealistic, and it's significantly kinkier that whatever you're imagining.

Not usually, but I guess there is the Rogue One/Doctor Who crossover I wrote a while back. I've actually been thinking of giving that one an overhaul and an expansion and re-posting it sometime, I have a lot of thoughts about it.

((while I have my day off, if I'm able to get on the computer, I may take the time to organize some of Charlie's threads into verses maybe? Basically I've been treating each partner as a separate verse, which is fine for now, but there's at least one or two threads that could be interesting to explore the narrative of with other characters. Not necessarily by continuing that thread with others, but you get it. Like if for some reason in one thread, Charlie starts an official war with Heaven, I'd imagine it can definitely be explore via multiple threads with different muses, etc. Or even something as simple as "this is the verse where these other characters have this kind of relationship with Charlie" such as if those close to Charlie are shipping. So both narrative-based verses as well as situational. Idk
I may not work on that today, but soon if I don't. SO if you see any threads of mine with someone else and have thoughts about joining in as part of the verse with me, let me know? Also I prolly won't use fancy tags since I don't think I can keep track of them like that lmao. But we shall see with time.
EDIT TO ADD: Something I thought of after I posted that. Anyone else wishing to jump in on verses don't necessarily need to stay on top of anyone else's threads for consistency. I will maintain any needed consistency for what threads I'm involved in, but nothing more is needed. Honestly it's all to make sure that I keep myself organized and know what threads may reference what. No requirements to plot or coordinate with any other involved people (I mean unless y'all want to on your own). So no pressure there!

Hi Anon! First of all, I'm glad you enjoy this mess of a blog dfgfg 😭💕 You're very sweet! To answer your question, I don't really have a favorite trope for these? I was vague with the ship meme ig but maybe I can elaborate a little on the kind of AUs we have here?
As for how many... so many. SDJK possibly around 6. After finishing the list I concluded they are actually 7, 8 with the canon ship (not included in this one but I rambled a bit about it here) and I added one honorable mention. I'll take this chance to ramble endlessly about them so buckle up 😤. Since you mentioned it, I tried to assign a trope to each of these that might describe their dynamic? Tried. sdfkj they are so different, let's see here:
SORRY FOR THE TAGS IN ADVANCE 😭
💥. I'll start with the heaviest lmao. The first AU ship ever was Rukilett (w/ @ruki--mukami), which was a hell of a ride. I think the slowest burn ship of all yet, but also the darkest, and the most resolved??? It started pretty civil, until he realized that she maybe, sorta, kinda, perhaps isn't into all the Master/Slave Livestock thing and when she said she didn't like pain she kinda meant it 🗿 DFGJDG So punishing her by biting her all over and traumatizing her a lil while she was restrained wasn't,,, the best way to go LMAO. It was a ride fr, it wasn't at all planned (but is anything ever-). They became pretty hostile towards each other afterwards ofc, or, well, she was actually the hostile one while he was rather awkward. Eventually Ruki began to feel remorseful and Scarlett just wanted revenge, blood, war, his head on her wall and so on(?). Even got help from another muse to maybe get back at him but it never worked in the end.
Jas and I interacted for a little over a year and this back and forth drama that eventually evolved into what I call unrequited hate, lasted around 10 months out of that time I think? ~10 IRL months of unrequited hate dfjkgd. They (she) eventually started to soften up when she noticed that he was genuinely regretful and losing hope in trying to fix things to get their relationship back to a more peaceful point; so they made a truce when Scarlett acknowledged that hard feelings weren't taking them anywhere. They finally got their first consensual kiss (lmao) on Pocky day last year, giving an end to the triggering arc. We all cried.
Idk how new or old you're to the blog but I have a whole Masterlist for Rukilett's journey if you want to see what I'm talking about dgdg. If you've ever heard of TW: Rukilett, yeah. Now they are back to just Rukilett thank god.
🎎. After that we have more light-hearted ones (kinda) 💕 like Scarina (w/ @iricathel 's Irina) , which actually was born lowkey in the shadows within another AU of Jas' Ruki (ever heard of Harem!Ruki? That's a whole other can of worms right there). They found some common ground and became besties and got a little too close but hey that's Friendship™ 😩 They are both oblivious of the fact that some things aren't just your usual bestie routine but what do I know 🏃🏻♀️ They would be Friends to lovers if they ever take a step further. But for now they are besties that are equally bossy and equally fabulous—
🔫. Then we have Myslett (w/ @mino-diabolik 's Mystic), which is the opposite of unresolved tension lmao. If there's any tension between them they resolve that shit 🗿 FDGJDG. Scarlett showing up at the worst time possible around Mystic led her to an almost certain death more than once, more than twice, even. But she sticks to him because weirdly enough, he hasn't really hurt her. Yeah her life was always in danger but it doesn't hurt (?). They currently have a Friends with benefits dynamic, another case of besties getting too close but they somehow got even closer GDGDH But what are friends for amirite 🏃🏻♀️✨
🍪. Vivilett (w/ @sutcliffe-v 's Virek) is a very particular one! More developed outside of Tumblr, it's based on how Virek would meet Crowlett often and befriend her, but he's completely unaware of the fact that Scarlett, also his friend, is the person behind the crow (?). I mean how would anyone know- But that somehow stresses Scarlett because he's got these two friends but it's actually the same person but is it really necessary to let him know?? What if he finds out and gets angry? What if he thinks she's crazy? Well, who knows, really. For now, Virek has two friends and spoils Crowlett with shiny and tiny gifts uwu. Idk what their dynamic would be called fdgdkg maybe it's your classic miscommunication trope but more wholesome (?).
🍴. No one knows what's going on with Ryuulett (w/ @fruit-of-infidelity 's Ryuuto), but I think they are onto something. Can't quite put my finger on it but. Like. A Vampire and a Ghoul meet up. They have a snack. The end. ???????? Do you expect me to believe this!!! fkjsfs Nah but idk who's bolder here but they aren't letting the other win in whatever game they are playing and I mean 🍿🍿 I love these two tbh, bc they actually have this weird tension building from a cute set of coincidences of them randomly snacking together??? And yeah they have kissed a few times but what does that even mean here????? What is happening 😭?? dfjkshf I feel like it's some kind of slow burn but one wrong (or right?) move and the kitchen is suddenly on fire—
💖. And speaking of slow burn, ConLett (w/ @kurosawa-family 's Convoitise) is the exact opposite of that. LJGHD I'm genuinely impressed with how quick he managed to turn her into a blushy mess without even trying??? Seems like the answer was kindness all along, who would have thought!!!! Free therapy with Paniclett and Simpcon, I'm soff— I'd go with mutual pining here because even though Scarlett has no clue what is going on now, she can't deny there's Things™ that she feels that are impossible to ignore, and Convoitise is not even trying to hide it lmao. She might try to fight the soff but he smiles once and she's done for. How did this happen fr KGJD.
💫. A more recent one is Scardion (w/ @gasotea 's Gwydion) which also looks like a slow burn but going towards a more wholesome direction. They are pretty much opposite poles, but Scarlett finds some peace in Gwydion's presence, which makes her more playful and annoying relaxed around him, something he can barely stand fghfjdh. She's flirty and feisty and he's very reserved and caring (and ace!!!!) so this could be a very interesting match imo. I can think of them as a fluff pair, but it could change overtime, we'll see uwu.
🔗. A special addition because even though they haven't had the best of times as of late, Megan ( @mchallwrites ) is one of the most long-term relationships Scarlett had in this blog, although as a friendship in her eyes. Sadly, everything went south when Megan confessed on Christmas, something Scarlett was not prepared for at all and thus she could not respond accordingly. It led to a dark unrequited love, considering that it drove Megan to insanity and now Scarlett feels pretty unsafe around her. I feel bad for them, but while its potential to solve seems very low, I'm interested to see how they develop, if they ever do. I hold onto the thought that all arcs just happened, pretty unprompted, so with all their ups and downs, maybe something might come out of this. Although, they have to be careful.
And I think that's pretty much it, PHEW. I'm not including simple friendships or other peeps that are yet to interact further, but ofc if this list changes in some way, I'm here for it 💕 While writing this I was so impressed to see that tropes barely overlap, I think that's beautiful fdgdh. 3. What fandoms do you write for?
Doctor Who (and various related fandoms. though funnily enough i've never posted a new who fic), Star Trek (currently just Star Trek Picard but i have a few Voyager wips too), and a single Steven Universe fic.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
this happiness is hell on earth – Steven Universe fanfic about Pearl and Rose's toxic relationship and Pearl learning to recover after the series
And They Became Monsters (the fall of great men) – Gallifrey/Bernice Summerfield/DWEU fic that's a novel length character study of Irving Braxiatel and started as a way to explain his timeline and then i was carried away by the themes.
The Office – a somewhat silly Gallifrey fic where Romana and Narvin fight over an office following Enemy Lines when Romana takes over the CIA
A Holiday – a fluffy Eighth Doctor audios fic where Eight, Liv, and Helen go on vacation and accidentally run into the Doctor's past...
What is Beautiful – Gallifrey fic where Narvin and Leela explore one of the Axis worlds alone and Leela makes Narvin see the beauty in the world

i try to! a few comments always get lost in the email weeds but i try to make an effort to respond.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh this is hidden lore because i wrote it before i had an ao3 account but i posted a Gallifrey fic called Hope in Times of War in 2015. it was on my old tumblr so i doubt that is survives online but was about Gallifrey succumbing to Rassilon's military dictatorship during the Time War and Romana, Brax, Leela, and Narvin all being separated and i remember Narvin was executed as part of military executions and well... no one else had a great time either. i've learned that i prefer writing bittersweet endings to purely angsty ones.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
i don't tend to go for outright happy 'everything's fine' type endings. the closest is probably What is Beautiful because it doesn't have much of a plot other than some musings on Narvin's character growth.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
on the one SU fic i wrote, i got a weird hate comment an hour after posting it and the commenter edited it like three times so it was no longer hate but just... vague disapproval and complaining about... not even my fic but just the standard interpretation of the show. anyways it didn't bother me but i did think it was funny how bothered this person was over the canonical fact that Pearl and Rose had a toxic relationship.
other than that, i don't really write for big enough fandoms or write controversial enough things to attract any hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
none published :) i've written some smut but i've been far too insecure to publish it because 1) i'm very ace and i think it shows in my writing and 2) some people i know irl have my ao3 and i tend to be conscious about how things i post could escape online containment. if i do publish any smut i'll probably publish it anonymously.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
again – none published. i have a few Gallifrey fusions i've sketched out before and one Gallifrey/Voyager crossover that i wrote a few pages of over the summer.

nope but i would welcome it!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
nope! i think my writing habits are far too erratic to be a good co-writer but i love sending ideas back and forth with people.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
the Gallifrey ot3. not even necessarily in a romantic sense, just in a 'these characters' lives forever revolve around each other and they can never escape even if they want desperately to leave' sense. Gallifrey was the first fandom that i was really dedicated to and spent a lot of time thinking about so these characters have permanently left a mark on my brain.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i only have one posted WIP that i am very much intent on finishing but as for my eternal drafts i have two notable ones that i still work on occasionally but will never be published in their current form:
Star Trek Perseverance – i challenged myself last spring/summer to create my own 20 episode season Star Trek series that i would want to see in the world. it's a slight AU of the end of Picard s3 where Seven and Raffi were given a new ship called Perseverance instead of the Ent G with a mostly OC cast of main characters and a more similar 90s vibe of an episodic series with different tones. i have an outline of all the s1 episodes and a few of the "scripts" written but yeah... writing 20 full length episode scripts is simply too much for me to tackle but i'm toying with the idea of adapting a few to prose/taking out the AU elements to publish because i do really love the "episodes" i wrote and it was fun to experiment with some comedy/light hearted stories which i tend not to write.
also during lockdown i started a 'Romana survives the Time War instead of the Doctor' AU of new who and i sketched out an outline of s1 (and some other big season plot points) but only wrote about 10 pages. it has some excellent writing tbh but given how long it would need to be, it's destined to live forever on my hard drive and in my head.
16. What are your writing strengths?
character voices 100% if i feel like i can't find a character's voice for whatever reason then i simply will not write for them. even when i go back to my old work, i cringe at the pacing/grammar errors, but generally i think the character voices are pretty on point.
i also like to think i've become pretty good at adding rhythm and pacing to my prose when i put in the effort. it's quite hard to do sometimes but it's so satisfying when it works. i'd never claim to be a poet but i love writing prose that just feels good and melodic to read aloud.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
... finishing things. or just committing to projects and ideas that i can actually follow through on.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
oof. i know enough Spanish (and Russian to a lesser extent) to get through some dialogue but i would very much want to run it by a fluent speaker first. however neither Spanish nor Russian have ever come up in my fics.
the only non-English languages that's come up in my fics are French and Latin. the French was for an abandoned fic and i asked my French-speaking friend to translate. the Latin was for ATBM and i'm pretty sure i ended up taking the line out because i didn't know any Latin speakers(?) (i mean it's a dead language so.... readers? translators?) and was too shy to ask a stranger.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
technically i wrote some HP fic in a notebook when i was 8 though i didn't know what fanfiction was at the time. (obligatory note that i'm not a HP fan or supporter right now given JKR's bigotries and hate speech)
20. Favorite fic you've written?
And They Became Monsters (the fall of great men) without a question. i poured my heart and soul into that beast and was the first time i wrote something that felt like Real Writing with Layers and Themes. when i was done i felt like my writing meant something more than the usual short fic i'd write. like at the end of the day it's a fanfic but it's also a critique of Great Men histories, a dissection of how art and the ways we view art perpetuates imperialism, studying how abuse causes abuse in cycles, how egotism stems from insecurity and slowly eats away at the self, how the self is just a performance and mask of something no one can ever name, and how sometimes the only thing you have to do to break away from cycles of tragedy and violence is to ask for help. (sorry i'm being too pretentious but i am very proud of my work on that one)
it was also the first time i feel like i put real effort into small details and experimented with them like tense – the story is told from the perspective of two versions of the same character and depending on the POV, the story is either told in past or present tense. there are even a few scenes when the two versions meet and i still narrate one's actions in present tense while the rest of the scene is in past tense to drive in how the present-tense character is quite literally out of place. there are also quite a few sections that i purposefully wrote as fragmented and run-on sentences to mimic the thought processes of someone having a breakdown/ideological crisis.
if i had to pick a favorite excerpt it would probably be the confrontation between the two different versions of Braxiatel:
He sighed. “You believe this is my fault? Deferring responsibility? Are you sure that you have grown up?”
“You were the one who lied. You told me I was a hero. You told me I would win the War. My future is Gallifrey’s future. Don’t you remember that?” Braxiatel wouldn’t rise to anger because he was better than that, he would never give up the game. (It’s always been a game.)
“I told you that you mattered. All children believe they matter.” Neutral, impassive, infuriating. He wasn’t belittling. Maybe to him, Braxiatel was still a child – the wayward son fallen far away from a distant and demanding father. Maybe that was the truth. What a cruel family he’s created. Just another cycle. Ad infinitum.
And here they were, blame circulating around and around. Things would never be resolved. Things would never heal. Braxiatel didn’t even want to heal. He wanted to leave this jagged cut deep inside – so deep that maybe the wrong Braxiatel felt it – because if there was an ugly scar for all to see that meant all the hurt was real. His bitterness and anger was justified because wasn’t healing just erasing? Forgetting the hurt meant letting it happen again and again, and there’s another cycle because he just can’t seem to get away.

I got the game he's from as a gift for Christmas from a friend who really likes it (and I was like yeah!! I wanna play the game too!!) so everything I'm saying has a grand total of a month and a half behind it, and I feel like the short time duration is important to highlight the insanity here kdjffk
ALRIGHT SO spoilers for the entirety of ultra.kill as a game bc he's integral to the overall plot, but some background before Gabby, the game is centered around a robot (controlled by the player) descending down through 9 layers of hell a la dante's inferno style, bc this particular machine is blood powered and mankind has been completely wiped out (partially by war, partially by something that hasn't been made 100% clear yet), so you're just going around slaughtering everything in sight, with the chunkiest graphics known to man along the way.
Gabe's role here is to step in and try to stop you bc you're basically a walking abomination to all that is holy, Gabe is the angel that sends people to hell and is also the one chosen to carry out the will of god so he's also done a lot of killing to do that; he loses to the machine, gets so mad he curses at you (calls you an insignificant fuck) and then leaves, but we see a little behind the scenes, where we learn he's never lost a fight like this and the rest of the angels call it heresy; they sever his connection with divinity and tell him he has 24 hours to fix everything or he'll die. So naturally, next fight he's pissed as hell, and starts out MAD, yelling and threatening, but as it goes on, he starts having fun and laughing and taunting, and when he loses again, he says he feels relieved and needs time to think. He starts introspecting and starts questioning everything he's been told after he realizes he wasn't feeling hatred, but a sort of passion in the challenge of the fights. He starts asking himself if the angels he followed were actually in the right, and ends up killing them all, accepting that he's going to die but that he'll die not only having been freed from the constraints placed on him, but also having freed heaven itself from the angels that basically held it hostage with their power.
He's also as close to trans as you can get without explicitly calling him such! The devs discussed angels and pronouns in a recent stream and said they wanted angels to have no pronouns if possible, but then realized that they needed to gender Gabe when another character wrote a diary entry about him, so they settled on pronouns as a mark of angel status, which means that he didn't originally use he/him, but picked it up later and continued to use it no matter what; the other angels called him "it" after the took his divinity, but the overall narration still uses masculine pronouns for him, so it comes with the implication that he's still exactly who he knows he is, no matter what is said about him, which. as a trans man. good lord fhsjg the trauma of his arc hits very close to home for me and that was part of what propelled him into the spot he has on this blog.
The other thing that got him here was. and there really isn't any other way to say it. This man turned everyone into rabid animals, I have never seen so many people look at a character and desire him so violently, everyone wants to do unspeakable things to this man and it is so funny hdsjgks his VA will also voice pretty much anything in-character as well, so there's a lot of unhinged bullshit that makes for an absolutely incredible image of this man. He's a little uptight at first and throws a fit when things don't go his way, he seems like the exact kind of man that would be kind of silly, this man would struggle to peel an orange, throw it at a wall, and then later hang his head in his hands about it. This man would be able to speak multiple languages but would somehow mispronounce every single word as he goes. He's an astounding character and he's also kind of pathetic and something about all these factors just. lobotomized me. There is a gay little angel where part of my brain should be and I've just accepted it. I had a gay dream about him one single week after I saw him in game, the grip he has on me is UNREAL and I've fully accepted it.
He gives the very fun aspect of "is not human and has no idea what humans need or how they act", which makes him utterly hilarious to me, I wanna see this man try to preheat the oven, he is trying so hard to cook something for me and he is burning it so badly, he does NOT know what a car is and is frankly too wary of it to even consider getting in it. People also arrived at the consensus that he's probably very tall, it's been confirmed that there are no canon heights in the game, but everyone has agreed that Gabby is at least 7 feet tall and it is the funniest thing on earth to me. Very large and somewhat confused angel who means the best trying very hard in his new environment. Oh my god wait when the developers had that stream I mentioned they also talked about Gabe for a bit in regards to his personality bc in-game he saved someone from being swept away in the river styx (now an ocean after an influx of souls), and they were so grateful they added a fully functional hologram of him onto their ship, saying the lines he'd said when he'd saved them, and the devs said that they'd wanted that to be a glimpse into what Gabriel is like when he's not immediately targeting you as an enemy or fighting, and the specific words they used were "he's kind and loving" and that short-circuited my brain immediately upon impact.

Happy Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day~!
As per this post, today is a day for fanfic writer appreciation! So, I wanted to share some of my current fave fics🥰 (Since I’ve been on a Star Wars kick for a while, these will all be Star Wars.) As always, follow the rules: mind the tags and don’t like, don’t read <3 And if you read any of these, leave the authors a kudos & comment!

Without further ado, here’s some fic recs in no particular order:
1) look at me (with your eyes closed) by @maderilien
Boba Fett/Din Djarin, Rated T, 120k+ words.
Aaaaah, this fic was delicious. A canon-divergence fic after season 2 episode 1, it follows Boba and Din as Boba goes in search of his ship (which was sold off rather than conveniently still in Jabba's Palace). It's got it all--Allies to Friends to Mutual Pining to Enemies to Lovers, adorable scenes with Grogu, action, angst, a happy ending! I loved the world-building in this, and the alternate story for Boba--especially in his personal journey. I highly recommend this one (and its prequel)!
2) Broken Threads by @sadiebwrites
Din Djarin/Luke Skywalker, Rated T, 78k+ words.
Brooooo, this fic!!! Set in the immediate aftermath of RotJ, Luke is dealing with unforseen consequences from his torture aboard the 2nd Death Star, and Din is, as always, a bounty hunter whose conscience hits just in the nick of time. This is a fantastic read for OG trilogy fans (especially lovers of Luke & Leia), Fallen Order fans, and prequel-era Jedia fans (3 cheers for T'ra Saa everyone). A wonderful adventure and slow burn romance, I really recommend this one! I definitely cried, like, twice lol. (No worries, though, it's a happy ending.)
3) Hot for Teacher by @astrangebird
Din Djarn/Cobb Vanth, Rated E, 40k+ words.
I started reading this because I love trans!Din and I also love Cobb Vanth, but then this fic just hit me with ROMANCE and FEELINGS and ugh, I adored it. Set in what I can only describe as a "sorta-modern, but definitely still Star Wars" AU, Din is a Tusken sign language professor and Cobb is the retired sheriff taking a class to fill his sudden free time after an injury. It's a wonderful story with a somewhat messy romance and happy ending, I highly recommend!
4) hunting toward heartstill by @blackkatmagic
Mace Windu/Cody (Main), Rated M, 207k+ words.
Okay, this one is basically a fandom must-read at this point, right? Mace/Cody may be a rarepair, but it's No.1 in my heart thanks to this fic. Not only does it have the ultimate "Fake Relationship/Married" trope (with possibly THE most romantic marriage vows ever), it has some real edge-of-your-seat action and turn-you-to-goo romance. Multiple plot lines are masterfully woven together into a very satisfying end (of the story, and the Clone War). Cannot rec this one enough!
5) Now Comes The Tide by @purplesauris
Din Djarin/Luke Skywalker, Rated E, 9k+ words.
An absolute banger, I love this fic. It's mostly porn, with a sprinkling of romance and Force sensitive!Din, and also features trans!Din (a personal fave), armor sex, and inappropriate use of the Force (a classic). I loved Luke and Din's chemistry in this fic, and the sex scenes are wonderfully steamy~ I highly recommend this one!
6) The Abyssal Plain by @lyresnake
Obi-Wan Kenobi/Darth Maul, Rated E, 25k+ words.
Obi/Maul is a messy fave of mine, they're just so much fun and this fic really demonstrates that. Maul is in his trash planet years when Obi-Wan crash lands and ends up in a very uncivilized situation lol. I loved how this fic portrayed Maul and his entire mess, but also the mess that is Obi-Wan Kenobi. It built a fascinating romance between the two, striking a balance between them that I found really interesting and engaging. Definitely my fave Obi/Maul fic <3
7) A Slow Fall Towards Grace by @glimmerglanger
Obi-Wan Kenobi/Cody, Rated E, 116k+ words.
If you're like me, then you really enjoy seeing Obi-Wan suffer lmao, and this is definitely the fic for you (don't worry, it's got a happy ending, too!). In what I can only describe as Obi-Wan's disastrous journey to love, this fic follows Obi-Wan throughout his life to the end of the Clone War in an A/B/O AU. This fic features some heavy stuff, but it has a satisfying ending and possibly one of my favorite scenes ever in a fic (idk what it was about that birth scene in chapter 5, but the Drama really grabbed me by the throat lol). Really recommend this fic for angst and A/B/O lovers, this one's def for you!
8) Beekeeping and Husbandry by @meggory84
Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rated M, 135k+ words.
Y'aaaaall this fic. Is. So. Good. I loved the disability rep in this fic, and the whole portrayal of Qui-Gon is probably my favorite of any fics I've read. Heavy on the deep dive on Qui-Gon's character, this fic follows an alternate ending AU of TPM where Obi-Wan "heals" Qui-Gon and Mace gets a terrible vision of the future (aka, he sees everything leading up to his death). Usually with time travel / full-vision of the future AUs, we see things from the POV of the character with all the information trying to save the day--but not in this AU! And I loved that, it made things so interesting. Cannot recommend this one enough!
9) A Safe Haven by @hixystix
Alexsandr Kallus/Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, Rated E, 146k+ words.
Listen, if you're even a little bit of a KalluZeb shipper, or even just a Kallus fan, I cannot recommend this fic enough. Following Kallus's rescue above Atollon, this fic follows Zeb and Kallus through the rebellion and after as they find themselves and each other. I loved Kallus's character development in this, and the world building of life in the rebellion, especially for an ex-Imperial like Kallus. This fic really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, but the ending is very worth it (and the sex scenes... those are also worth it. Woof.).
10) How the Other Half Lives (series) by @reedroad
Luke Skywalker & Leia Organa (Main), Rated G to T, 660+k words (on-going).
Do I even have the words to describe this series? I'm literally in love. An AU in which Leia goes to the Lars' on Tatooine and Luke to the Organa's on Alderaan, this fic follows the two from childhood through AU-versions of the OG trilogy, and heavily features Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger. What the author does with their world-building and characterizations is just *chef's kiss* perfection. My absolute favorite iteration of Prince Luke Organa and Leia Skywalker with a killer depiction of Darth Vader and Han Solo, this fic has everything you could possibly want in a role-swap AU.
11) Reconstruction Corps AU (series) by @cacodaemonia
Waxer/Boil (Main), Rated G to E, 518k+ words (on-going).
Once again, I'm in love. Not only is cacodaemonia an incredible artist with much of their art featuring in this series, their writing honestly takes my breath away. The sheer depth of emotion in this series!!! If you're a clone fan, I literally cannot rec this series enough. I've laughed, I've cried (a lot), I've rolled around in bed like a happy rolypoly, it truly evokes the full range of emotions lol. Mostly following Waxer and Boil throughout the War and after, this series is just such a heartfelt love letter to the clones and the Star Wars universe itself.
12) a simple thing by @ryehouses
Boba Fett/Din Djarin, Rated E, 700k+ words (on-going)
Originally, I put off reading this fic cause it was just so damn long. And then I started reading it... and didn't stop for, like, a week. This is just one of those fics that you cannot put down. An incredible deep dive on Din Djarin's character, this fic features fantastic world-building (especially for Tatooine), a very well-written BDSM relationship, an exploration of "religious"/cultural trauma and recovery, and a nuanced look at Mandalorian culture and politics. This fic has one of my fave portrayals of both Din and Boba, and I just cannot recommend it enough.
13) Why Not's and How To's by @trixree
Obi-Wan Kenobi/Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi/Clone Troopers, Rated E, 54k+ words (on-going).
Honestly, all I needed to know about this fic was that it’s a “Legally Blonde AU” and I was SOLD. While not following the plot of Legally Blonde, Obi-Wan definitely carries the energy of Elle Woods in this fic. In an AU where Obi-Wan left the Jedi on Melidaan and eventually becomes a lawyer and Darth Maul is never cut down on Naboo (and picks up Anakin along the way), this fic follows both the build-up of Maul and Obi-Wan’s relationship and also Obi-Wan’s attempt to help the clones gain their rights in the Republic. This fic is very fun, and takes an interesting approach to the whole “fixing the Star Wars” fic plot.

Rex/Agen Kolar/Kix, Rated M, 78k+ words (on-going).
🥺🥺Efface the footprints, my love… Not even finished, and already a comfort fic for me, this fic follows Agen Kolar as he takes over Anakin’s battalion when Anakin faces charges for his slaughter of the Tuskens. He must not only deal with a distraught Captain and Padawan, but a mysterious and dangerous creature lurking in the deep. I love the hurt/comfort in this fic, and the whole atmosphere of the planet and characters really lends itself to the drama of it all. Cannot rec this one enough!!

Choosing Violence Ask Game
1. the character everyone gets wrong
Hmm, I actually don't know? The ones that come to mind are Ron, Bellatrix, and Draco. For different reasons. But for all of them, it's less of a generalisation and more of a "there are common characterisations or tropes that I don't like" LMAO. I'm in a few circles where ron-bashing is really popular and I just can't, I don't like bashing in general and I really hate it for Ron especially, he deserves better. For Bellatrix... it's really more of a me problem in that I can't see a redemption arc for her that doesn't start early in the first war, and ANYTHING that tries to start it later or doesn't explain how it happened instantly is a No for me because in my head, that makes no sense and that's not how I can visualise her character in any way. For Draco... he just annoys me and since I stopped being a fan of drarry I actually haven't? read? more than one or two fics or headcanons about him that didn't make me go no that's not him he's worse.
This goes with the obligatory reminder that I'm a hypocrite and I KNOW people think the exact same thing about my portrayal of Narcissa, so it's absolutely not meant to be a dig at anyone or rude towards fans. I just heavily disagree with the above characterisations.
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?

It's jegulus and rosekiller, specifically the ones in specific twitter and tiktok circles (mainly bc on tumblr I don't encounter them bc the tag system here sorta works). I don't have an explanation. They're just annoying and they know it and they seem to take pride in it. And it's not ALL of them, definitely. There's a bunch of jegulus shippers I follow who are perfectly nice people. But in the same way that certain Sides (ngl, I was a part of those sides at 14) of the drarry fandom were annoying.. some jegulus fans can be super annoying. They give tiktok fans a bad rep, is my personal theory.
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
YES POSITIVE ENDING
Narcissa and Rodolphus. Because they're GOOD. No. They're heinous. I love them.
The most chaotic and despicable Evil Best Friends? wlw mlm solidarity on the Evil side? he's a horse guy with a bad taste in men and the only one willing to put up with Narcissa's dramatics for a whole lifetime. I love them so much. I have so many thoughts. But also I don't ever want them to get popular the way Regulus or Evan has gotten popular. I wanna keep them. I want them to stay in my head and the heads of less than 100 people on tumblr. please.

Hi! Recently discovered your blog and really love it! I've been making my way through your posts (as I'm sure you've noticed, sorry) and I've noticed that some from like 2018ish are still pretty relevant to Snape discussions today. I'm fairly new to the fandom so I was wondering: have the anti snape people just been recycling the same talking points for the past 4-5 years? That would be kind of depressing if so, since so many of these arguments are just bad and you'd think that they'd trickle out as people realize it... Or have you noticed some definite trends in the arguments and talking points surrounding Snape that have changed over the years?
it's funny bc i dont really pay that much attention to notifications (every once in a while i dive in to see if there's any responses/tags i want to respond to, but otherwise they're white noise 2 me) but i can always tell when someone's just found this blog bc a lot of times i'll get so many notifs from them in a row. so no need to say sorry! there's no bigger compliment to me than someone who wants to keep all my opinions about snape lmao.
anyway, hand to god, i'm pretty sure anti-snape people decided on their four arguments about ten years back and have just been recycling them with different wording ever since. there are arguments i remember seeing in ye olde harry potter fandom that are almost unchanged today. the pervasive idea of snape as a creepy stalker, that snape traumatized neville, and that snape willing gave up harry and james to "have" lily are the three i've noticed just have stuck around for so, so, so long. it's VERY frustrating.
to be fair, hp has regurgitated plenty of fandom discourse just by way of being a long-lived fandom with a healthy and quarrelsome fan base. but the snape arguments in particular always seem especially long-lived. i don't think i noticed exactly how repetitive they were until i ran this blog and started seeing them crop up over and over (and over and over).
in the anti arguments, the main thing i've noticed though is the same thing i think everyone's noticed about the way people talk about characters they don't like - there's so many social justice buzzwords thrown in to "prove" a character is "problematic." back in ye olde hp fandom days, there were plenty of people who didn't like snape and there were shipping wars and such (jilly vs snilly and so on) but the vitriol about snape being abusive and problematic and so on is something that's a more recent trend and is really born out of the way people need to make characters they dislike morally bad so they can feel justified in it. (the inverse is also true - the push to make james and the marauders feminists and such all comes from the desire to make characters we like better/less "problematic.") there's been a much steadier shift from "i don't like snape and i think he's mean" to "i think snape is actually the most evil, abusive character who traumatizes children for fun and doesn't mind killing babies" (all arguments i've seen at least once if not multiple times lol).
on the flip side, from the pro-snape camp, i feel like the arguments around snape have become more nuanced and there's been a lot more mining of material. that said, there's also a lot more defensiveness - whereas before there could be a live and let live attitude about anti snape people, now it really does feel like you have to defend on all sides just to say something about a fictional character you like. so that leads to a lot more snappish discourse than there used to be over snape on both sides tbh.
but aside from discourse, the trend i've really loved seeing is how much more we've pushed to examine snape's identity - the uptick in ace!snape and trans!snape headcanons, the queer shipping with snape, and so on are much more varied than back in the old days where you basically had... snilly as a major pairing and snape as a het white dude and that was it. (at least in my corner of fandom!)

Ive blocked like 3 people today for the kylo ren shit takes lmao theyre just trying to start shit. i feel like if you're going to flatten "character who becomes a nazi-allegory space wizard and is proud of it, and then kills his own father on a good vs evil space opera" and "pirate romantic comedy antagonist who doesn't actually achieve his goals even Once and doesn't do anything too far from the moral baseline of the main characters", and then put it in the character tag, you cant be surprised when people ignore you.
Is kylo ren the only popular villian they know (what rock do they live under) or just the one they know scores the most disgust points out of the gate bc of the morality crusade the sw fandom went on over his fangirls??
(Also while I dont like kylo ren bc i found him boring i dont actually care that people like him?? It has 0 impact on my life. What got me out of the sw fandom was all the hate if you shipped any of the main three in the Wrong Way, the kylo stans were a bit annoying sometimes but this is fandom. We're all annoying.)
(I don't even have that much of an opinion on Kylo Ren because my interest in SW is focused almost entirely on the Clone Wars era. I watched the new trilogy once lol.)
I've also seen Snape come up a couple times as a comparison, which is its own can of worms. Honestly, I knew the moment tumblr started diving into Izzy that a lot of other fans would be upset by that focus and I do have sympathy for them because I've been there. I've absolutely been the person standing on the sidelines, feeling left out of many popular conversations, struggling to find kinkmeme prompts I want to fill, all because the community has latched onto a character that makes my skin crawl. It's a sucky situation to be in, but that doesn't mean the rest of the fandom is in the wrong for catering to their preferences. Over the past 2+ months I've watched posting move from playful complaints and semi-private venting to far more serious accusations that equate liking Izzy with some sort of moral failing: as a fan who isn't writing the characters "correctly," as a viewer who isn't reading the show "properly," as a human being who is, supposedly, making a conscious choice to reject the diversity in the show to instead uphold the awful white man, so that makes you racist, homophobic, ableist, etc. And I mean, I knew this would happen because it always happens (RWBY friends, you KNOW it happens)... I just didn't expect it to start really kicking off with Kylo Ren of all things.
Ultimately though I'm an old school fandom granny who subscribes to the general philosophy of "Don't like; don't read." Everyone should be allowed to engage with the canon in the way that makes them happy. You don't like what they're creating? Ignore it! Block freely and without guilt! If you disagree strongly with a fandom stance — as I've done tonight — that should be posted on your personal blog and shared by like-minded folks; don't go throwing yourself into a tag you hate, screaming at those trying to enjoy themselves. Moral crusades against people who like villains/antagonists, or aren't enjoying them in the "right" way, is nothing new, but it never gets any less frustrating to encounter. Plus, despite my description of Izzy's popularity above, this isn't actually a fandom where the "wrong" character has taken over. AO3 has over 4,000 fics for Ed/Stede compared to 500 some for Ed/Izzy (with Lucius/Black Pete coming in before that at 604). I've already reached the point where I'm shaking my head if someone tries to seriously claim that the fandom, as a unified whole, has rejected the loving, diverse, healthy canon relationships for the toxic, white man-focused, fantasy relationships and that makes you a bad person, didn't you know? There's plenty of content for the "right" characters and the "right" ships alongside interest in Izzy. Plus, we can have both! [cue everyone's shocked gasps]. I'm writing a fluffy fake dating au AND a woobified Izzy suffering from hanahaki disease! I guarantee you the world will not end if you let people 'poor little meow meow' a fictional character once in a while.
