Man there really is nothing like Dance Dance Revolution and the euphoric high after playing it...
Feeling the workout-endorphins and getting the rhythm-game-serotonin and jamming out to good music...
Truly an ascendant experience every time.

The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology first listen 🎧🪻✨
More than 15 years later wow it still feels so magical to listen to a brand new album. The joy, the excitement, the nervousness. I mark chapters of my life with her albums, they always seem to arrive with perfect timing. Is it fate or delusion? Probably the later, obviously she has no idea who I am. Idk it feels nice to delude myself now and again that we’re all journeying through this time together in some connectedness (is that a word?). It feels sort of nostalgic in some ways, from being just a child to now an adult, it’s like Sesame Street that grows up with you. Not a great analogy but what I mean to say is it holds a special place to me.
This album, this anthology feels much like we’ve been handed her diary, filled with sticky notes bound together, it’s so raw but so expertly crafted, messy feelings but the penmanship is exquisite. From her debut album, it’s always been poetry. She transports you to her world. What a journey, what a joy, what a gift.
I like to capture my first thoughts of each song in my silly chicken scratching written notes. Most of it makes no sense. It feels like a nice silly tradition and it’s fun to look back on. So here goes:
Fortnight
- It’s giving moody 1989??? Excuse me miss?!!! Ohhh she knows. Preach bye time to cry
The tortured poets department
- Ooooh we’re in an 80s dreamscape. Yes yes yes. Who’s gonna love you but me? A fluffy dreamland Patty smith? Insert wait I understood the reference meme. Ooooh it’s lovely. I am sad
My boy only breaks his favourite toys
- excuse me?? I’m shattered byyyyyeee. I’ll tell you that he runs because he loves me?? You should’ve see him when he first saw me? Once I fix me he’s gonna miss me??? Ladies and gents welcome to afternoon tea on the menu SCALDING hot queen’s special. Maybe I’m a crumpled up paper on the floor. Maybe I am no more.
Down Bad
- well damn she’s said the quiet parts out loud again. Oh smokes time to dissapear into this galaxy smoky cloud of night. One of us. One of us. One of us.
So long London
- literally standing by the river in the rain. May as well cry my damn eyes out . Darn it blondie. Poetic destruction. Crying my eyes out by the water like I’m in made in Chelsea. Darn.
But daddy I love him
- a folklore ode? Little house on the prairie Princess revolution. Serve it up serve it up I’m ready to be stuffed like a winter pig. A grown up love story. It’s ridiculous and maybe wise eyes know too well it’s chockablock of red flags but darn I’m a cheesin’ this is so cute.
Fresh out the slammer
- oh it’s like August but dark. August dark afternoon blistering hot and the storm is about to come.
Florida!!! Ft Florence and the machine
-ExXUSE MEEEEEEEeE?????!?!!?teee heee heee heeee. Your home’s really only a town you’re a guest in??? Sorry can’t speak my jaw has shattered. Pls pls. Palm tree pls.
Guilty as sin?
- A false God dreamy haze confessional? With sprinkle of Gold Rush??? I am a melted.
Who’s afraid of little old me?
- The who’s who of who’s that is poised for the attack? But my bare hands paved their path, you don’t get to tell me what’s sad? - I AM CHOKED. Silenced mute. Ohhhh miss blondie is on BUSINESS. TELL THEM SWEETIE. Oh my heart 💔
I can fix him (No really I can).
- Oooh moody blues preaching with generous dash of delusion? Ah yes my routine favourite beverage. I am drinking this up like air. Drunk on false hope? One of us. One of us. One of us.
Loml
- You Holy Ghost you told me I’m the love of your life. Oh no I’m crying again. Back to crumpled paper rocking back and forth on the floor in a ball it is. It’s so pretty yet, shattering. Devastating. I wish I could unrecall how we almost had it all. Dancing phantoms on the terrace, are they second hand embarrassed that I can’t get out of bed ‘cause something counterfit is dead? Yep that’ll do it.
I can do it with a broken heart?
- Oh damn. Honey nooooo. Oh myyyy. Oh I’m in this picture and I don’t like it. It’s so artfully done, so upbeat and Poppy yet so hauntingly sad. Yes that’s the point but it’s sooo well done. Oh sweetie. I can’t stop laughing it’s not funny, it’s just you too pumpkin. I wanna hug her and tell her it’ll be fine. Ok ok.
The smallest man who ever lived
- Oh I’m speechless. And I don’t even want you back, I just want to know, if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal. The bridge? Excuse me while I sink to the bottom of the darkest ocean.
The alchemy
- Oooh it’s so cute and dreamy. I’m beaming you can hear her smile when she sings.
Clara bow
- Oooh it’s the lucky one grown up. The bridge is a masterpiece. It’s hell on earth to be heavenly, thems the breaks it don’t come gently. She knows she’s a star, The never ending cyclical wheel of stardom, even the shiniest, ends with a new star born in its shadow.
The black dog
- Oh No no no I Am 1 billion percent destroyed. Byeeeee
Imgonnagetyouback
- Oooh blondie is on the prowl and what can I do but bop like the well stuffed clown I am. Insert meme of cat bopping their head.
The albatross
- Banjo? Haunting country cautionary tale? - scathing review of one’s reputation, worst traits but underneath it all is just vulnerability. Caged for ‘monstrosity’ but being so vulnerable and just wanting to be freed loved. The ‘monster’ trying to protect the one they love from the things that will come for them too? Do they even realise it? Do they care? Wow it’s poetically beautiful.
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
- Oh it’s sad. If you wanna break my cold cold heart, just say I loved you the way that you were? Oh myyy. Replaying old moments, looking for clues wondering if it can all have a new ending? Wow.
How did it end?
- Wow the invasiveness of empathy of the innate curiosity of wanting to know, so you can something comforting, learn from it but you forget how it can be the worst part, having to offer up a ‘post mortem’ to all when you’ve barely even processed its ended yourself. The cyclical nature of it happening every time like it’s just a formal process we’ve come to accept even though it haunts us all. Ironically as we listen to this. Wow so beautifully done.
So high school
- I wanna find you in a crowd just to hide from you, and in a blink of a crinkling eye, I’m sinking, our fingers entertwined. Awww the sort of bubblegum silly feels you roll your eyes but you have the biggest smile on your face. It’s soo cute. You know how to call, I know Aristotle.
I hate it here
- Oooooh tell me something awful like you’re a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy. One of us. One of us.
ThanK you aIMee
- Oh my goodness it’s grown up mean but she made it out. It’s so sad but I’m beaming. I say that’s my baby and I’m proud. Andrea? Oh thank you next. Not the kid. I’m cackling.
I look in people’s windows
- Oh it’s haunted death by a thousand cuts glimmering of desperate false hope. It’s lovely.
The prophecy
- Oh. Damn yep that’ll do it. Right in the ticker. Damn. It feels very much like am I doomed to always be the one before the one? Wow. Just yeah.
Cassandra
- I don’t know why but this makes think of safe and sound. Like the woman that was there when everything burned around them. She’s telling her side. Everyone’s there to watch you burn, screaming your guilt but silent when they’re wrong? If that ain’t the truth miss. Oh wow. Shes beautifully captured such a dark chapter.
Peter
- Oh wow it’s beautiful. It’s like post cardigan and she’s all grown up. 'Cause love's never lost when perspective is earned. But the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light. Oh wow it’s wow.
The Bolter
- Oh we must stop meeting like this but it always ends with a town car speeding. Wowowow. It feels like the time she fell through the ice, then came out alive. Oh my a BEAUTY.
Robin
- Oh it’s so pretty. It’s like never grow up, safe and sound and seven swirled together. Wow. It’s like she’s talking to her child but then also herself in the past and present, like from an older perspective? Ohhh it’s beautiful. Why does this make me think of coraline’s real mother watching her sleep? I wanna cry.
The manuscript
- Wow god it’s beautiful. Another time travel song. You keep revisiting past in your mind and you gain perspective and then you realise you aren’t that version of you that lived it anymore. You can feel it still, not as deeply perhaps but you’re disconnected from thinking the way you did at that time or after. Is sobering and haunting. The healing. Wow wow wow.
@taylorswift thank you my love 💕

sorry if this is too broad a question but do you have any recommendations of books/general literature about Eastern European history/politics (like fall of USSR-now)? i'm realising with keeping up with the war in Ukraine i don't know nearly enough about Eastern Europe (esp for a western leftist). I know you really like Slavenka Drakulić's work so I thought you might know of some others in that area. i'm sorry if you've been asked this before/it's too much bother + thank you in advance! <3
Oh, I'm always happy to answer this question/provide book recommendations, so no worries :)
Apart from Slavenka Drakulić's work, I would say the following, off the top of my head and looking at my bookshelves:
Anything by Anna Politkovskaya
Black Square: Adventures in Post-Soviet Ukraine by Sophie Pinkham (this one would be interesting now considering it came out not too long after Maidan and the Crimea and other annexations)
Putin Country: A Journey into the Real Russia by Anne Garrels
Putin's People: How the KGB Took Back Russia and then Took On The West by Catherine Belton
The Impossible Country: A Journey Through the Last Days of Yugoslavia by Brian Hall
In Europe's Shadow by Robert D. Kaplan (and, tentatively, his Balkan Ghosts, just because there's both some skew and quite a bit of stereotyping)
The Balkans by Misha Glenny
The Future is History by Masha Gessen (and really, any of their books, tbh)
Belarus: The Last European Dictatorship by Andrew Wilson
Yugoslavia: Death of a Nation by Laura Silber and Allen Little
The Invention of Russia: The Rise of Putin and the Age of Fake News by Arkady Ostrovsky
Unequal under Socialist: Race, Women, and Transnationalism in Bulgaria by Miglena S. Todorova
All The Kremlin's Men by Mikhail Zygar
Between East and West: Across the Borderlands of Europe and Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism by Anne Applebaum
Dancing Bears: True Stories of People Nostalgic for Life Under Tyranny by Witold Szabłowski
The Taste of Ashes: The Afterlife of Totalitarianism in Eastern Europe by Marci Shore
Secondhand Time: The Last of the Soviets by Svetlana Alexievich
Burning Down the Haus: Punk Rock, Revolution, and the Fall of the Berlin Wall by Tim Mohr
The Gates of Europe: A History of Ukraine by Serhii Plokhy
Orbanland: Why Viktor Orbán's Hungary Matters by Lasse Skytt
Black Sea: Dispatches and Recipes, Through Darkness and Light by Caroline Eden
The Magic Lantern: The Revolution of '89 Witnessed in Warsaw, Budapest, Berlin, and Prague by Timothy Garton Ash
And then anything my mutuals/followers would recommend, of course.

Eva has never considered herself cowardly, but then again, she has been lying about her health for the past two years to avoid the talks that come with it and those looks of pity she loathes so much.
So, after Ch’ah shows Shuri the beauty of Talokan’s main city-state and the sun that rises over it, she finally answers the young woman’s burning question.
“You are not a mutant like him.” She points out when they return to the hut and find her giving Itza to her nanny.
They usually do not employ a nursemaid for the girls, but Eva’s waning health does not allow her to keep up with her five-year-old child anymore.
Once this is over, she will make up for lost time.
“Yes, and no. I am more like the woman called the Scarlett Witch, in that I am both capable of magic, but also have genetic mutations passed down to me from my ancestors.
Despite how great I look; I am actually quite old. You see I was born in the year 1896 in a period known in Mexico as the Porfierato and grew up during the Second Revolution. When I was twenty-two, I was put under house arrest for sedition and due to the immense boredom, that came with it, I decided to try my hand at summoning Quetzalcoatl.” The witch decides against a detailed story about her life, there will be time for that later and while, Shuri seems to have done research on Post classical Mayan artefacts, she likely has no knowledge of Mexico’s history.
“Instead of summoning the true Feathered Serpent God, she somehow managed to summon me.” K’uk’ulkan said with a rather nostalgic smile and a firm squeeze of Eva’s hand. “I saw her dancing on the beach outside of her home and felt a connection to her as if I had always known her.”
“Later I would discover the spell I had found was to summon one’s soulmate but by then we had met, fallen in love and been married for several years.” This was the story they told everyone.
And yet all those details that they hold deep in their hearts occasionally manage to be found in murals, novels and stage productions of how Talokan came to have its queen.
“How did you manage to live underwater, if you don’t mind me asking.” Shuri, who has no real interest in romance asks the question they needed her to ask.
Eva answers by showing her the bracelet.
“The chief sorceress of Talokan taught me the runes that allowed to appear as human in the surface without the need for a rebreather. K’uk’ulkan, as a token of his love, gave me the bracelet made with the fibers of the plant that saved the life of his people, but most importantly, his mother.
I was able to cast the runes on it due to its significance and origin and live just as he does.”
And because it is all that is left of the vibranium flowers, she will have to give it up to live like him in truth instead of dying like the Black Panther did.
When Namor gets summoned onto the surface by the queen, Eva takes her chance.
“There is something else, Shuri. Something I need you to swear you will do no matter what happens.” The seriousness in her face causes worry in the young princess.
Her eyes widen thinking she is asking her to protect her children and the Talokanil, something Eva knows she doesn’t even have to ask for.
“I give you my word, as Princess of Wakanda.” She says readily.
And yet it doesn’t stop her from gasping when Eva removes the bracelet from her wrist.
The glamour fades away and Shuri is presented with a ghost of her past.
Her brother.
“The key ingredient to the cure lies in the vibranium flowers. I cannot make it grow, the soil here does not allow it to, and I cannot risk the surface world.” Eva begins explaining. “You are my only hope.”
“What do you wish me to do?” she asks, and Eva just gives a grateful smile as she gives her the bracelet.
“Take it and recreate the flower in your laboratory. Your people need the Black Panther just as my disease needs a cure.
One flower is all I need to live.”
Eva had not expected the Wakandan warrior woman.
Nakia, mother to Prince T’Challa son of T’Challa, she could see it even as the guards hurried to protect the queen and prevent her from freeing their prisoners.
“Let them go.” She orders the guards who no longer think she is as powerful as she had been.
“My queen, what has she done to you?” the guard holding a knife to Shuri’s throat asks thinking the worse.
“We must kill them.” The senior guard overrides her command due to her sudden change in health. “They have hurt our queen!”
And when Eva lifts her arms to cast a shield on the girls, Nakia fires her weapon and doesn’t miss.
Eva sees the blood on her chest as she slumps forward, and all hell breaks loose.
Tumblr media
They took her.
It was a trap.
All there was left was a dying soldier and blood.
So much blood.
This was an act of war.
“Our people invoke my name when they pray for protection. Their deaths will not go unpunished.
Gather the city.”
They took his wife and mother of his children and Wakanda will pay the price.
He had been blinded by the hope of finding an ally in the Wakandan Princess.
To find a way to keep Talokan safe and know there would be someone out there to aid him in that.
And they had killed his wife the moment his back was turned.
If the queen wanted war, Namor would give her what she wanted.
Tumblr media
Eva hates the cold white of modernity.
Hates the pastel colors of hospitals and the thin papery feel of the clothes they make her wear.
Her queen’s regalia is replaced by bandages under a loose button-down shirt and pajama shorts.
These too were white.
She’d kill for something darker, like black.
Black is such a nice color.
The nurses and doctors speak in a strange language, Wakandan or Xhosa, she cannot quite place it.
She is awake, she is alive, that much she can understand.
“Easy, your grace, your injury has been giving us a challenging time. Your illness complicates the healing process I am afraid.” One of the women, a bald one with an overly sweet nature, said as they helped her sit up.
Fluffed her pillows and offered her something to drink and everything.
“Where am I?” she asks in English.
“You are in Wakanda.”

Things about Connecticut and the Northeast because I'm brainrotting over this bastard goblin of a man:
He's shorter than everyone else in the northeast aside from Rhode and Dela.
This is canon, but I'm building on it: In his Table Intro, he threatened to stick his boat shoe up Florida's a--. This would imply he's both a boatman and wears boat shoes. I'd like to think he owns many pairs but the ones he wears most are Sperry Winter Boat Boots.
I've already mentioned the hemophilia headcanon but there are a few more layers to that.
He's treated like the baby of the Northeast despite not even being the youngest.
We don't see him fighting much with the rest of the NE and that's a product of that.
Even historically he didn't contribute lots to the founding of the country war-wise! I think he didn't fight in the war because the rest of the NE fought tooth and nail for him to stay in with the philosophers. (You bet he snuck out anyway.)
The Connecticut Compromise is one of the only large things contributed to the government by Connie and I think that makes him pissed.
His handwriting is actually pretty good, and he has excellent cursive, but nowadays he just uses a messy sailor's scrawl and that's that. Gov mourns the days when his handwriting was legible.
SayBrooks and New Haven were his older and younger brothers respectively. They died so he could live. He was insistent they back down and become part of his colony, but now he regrets it.
He's somewhat Episcopalian, mainly staying in the congregation due to routine, familiarity, and the connection to the afterlife Christianity provided. He's still very much mourning his brothers and isn't entirely ready to admit he's not that religious anymore.
His brothers still have rooms in his house. Doors that lead to walls with their names scratched messily on the wooden doorframe.
He became a pirate and sailor as retaliation for being pushed back during the first half of the revolution. Though it was dangerous, he loved it, and Rhode went with him for a long time.
He still has some beef with North Carolina over Blackbeard.
He has a black lab puppy named Archibald. Sometimes when he can't find a dogsitter he brings him to meetings with him.
His house is somewhat small to the external eye, with the only large part being the bedroom hallway indoors. The outside is stone brick, and the roof is dark. The inside is cozy, similar to a cottage, with most of the interior keeping the old design features with the newer ones still in place. For example, he has electric lights but still keeps mounted oil lamps hanging on the walls. The interior's main colour scheme is light turquoise.
He dances!! A lot!! Folk, polka, square, line, you name it!
He was so pleased when the sea shanty thing happened in 2020. It gave him an excuse to be humming the nostalgic songs.
Sometimes the Northeast all go on boating trips together. It's the only time you can see them get along- if you're lucky enough to catch them.
If the northeast have to stand in a line, Connie will always stand between New York and Mass. He's the designated "Make sure they don't rip each other's throats out" guy. He hates it but everyone else picked up on it too. If they don't already have a person/people between them Gov can and will stick Connie in as a divider.
A lot of the Connecticut accent is slurring letters together, so sometimes when he's talking to someone in the west or south he has to repeat himself a lot. It's funny until it gets annoying.
He has a job outside of government work, and it's being a maritime photographer. He likes to share his pictures with Maine, Maryland, Rhode, and sometimes California and Florida.
Sometimes when he curses he slips into older terms and such which is hilarious to some of the other states. Florida likes to call him Shakespeare and Oregon sometimes joins in and begs him to come to his Shakespeare festival or a Renaissance Fair. He turns him down almost every time.
BONUS HC:
His house holds personifications of several of his cities.
He thinks New Haven and Saybrook are both dead but they just became Old Saybrook and New Haven.
The reason he hasn't connected the dots yet is he didn't meet New Haven the city until 1784 and Old Saybrook the city 1738. He thought the similarities were just his mind playing tricks on him. Everyone else in the NE has figured it out but they don't have the heart to tell him.
I'll probably write more or something but,,,, hyperfixation fun Enjoy Goblin man Just gonna slide him up in the favorites category next to Texas and Cali. Nothing to see here.

Thanks for tagging me @phantomxblood lol
Rules: shuffle your ‘on repeat’ playlist and post the first 10 tracks, then list 10 songs you really like, each by a different artist. then tag 10 people to do the same thing.
Shuffle songs:
Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe- Slaps, yes it is ska, most of these will be ska, but it slaps. It's Streetlight Manifesto, it always slaps
Question of Life- FISHBONE!!!! I was gonna put this on my favs list. One of the first USA ska bands and talked about a lot of racial/class issues with their music. Their music united ppl across racial lines in a contentious time in US history! Skatunenetwork has a good vid on it.
Sick and Sad- Catch 22. Yeah, I'm not even gonna apologize for still liking them when their music sounds like THAT
Point/Counterpoint- Streetlight Manifesto. My first ever introduction to ska. Ridiculously nostalgic. This song probably saved my life.
Noise Addiction- Pure Hell. Slaps harder than a wet fish on rice paper and the history behind Pure Hell as a band is fascinating and inspiring. One of the first black punk bands and one of the first punk bands in general! Originally the #1 in my top ten, but then it came on and I had to put it in my plays.
....Well, Better Than the Alternative- Will Wood. Makes me feel like a groovy inchworm. Real ones shake ass to this song.
Dear Sergio: I was hoping this one would come on! Streetlight Manifesto. Good vibes even though he's roasting the shit out of Sergio.
If I Could Only Listen to my Heart: Bruce Lee Band. For some reason, even though they are the best, I never see any fans of BLB. Pls contact me if you like this band I need to talk about Them.
The Earth- Isaac Turner. Does not jive with the playlist at all but I love it so much. It's like a vacuum for my brain.
One Foot on the Gas, One Foot on the Grave- Streetlight Manifesto. Gotta love ska and punk and its ridiculously long titles. Anyway, this song is amazing. Finishing off strong.
Songs I like most:
Well, I liked all of those, but here's my favorites from the playlist:
The Communists Have the Music- TMBG, true AND slappy.
This World is Not My Home- Specifically the Bedquilt Ramblers on this list, but the original is amazing as well and I highly suggest ppl listen to that one first to pay their dues to the first ones to sing it
Dollars and Cents- Ska, Bruce Lee Band, everyone go listen to Bruce Lee Band. Literally all of their songs are good
I'm Against the Government- Folkpunk I guess? It's Defiance, Ohio. This one just makes me smile for whatever reason. It's kind of nostalgic for me in general
Go Feet Go- Bruce Lee Band again, we love to see it. It just fucking slaps. Don't look it up without attaching 'bruce lee band' to it because. You will see foot porn :(
Man on the Street- Imperial Leisure. GREAT song to listen to while leaving work.
Dance, Dance Revolution- Bruce Lee Band. Listen to it. Sooo good.
Generations- Bruce Lee Band. Also sooo fucking good.
Healthy Body- Specifically the Jeffries Fan Club version. It's just fun!
KKK Highway- MU330. Short, sweet, and says what it needs to. Just listen, you'll understand.
Sat through a lot of ads for the authenticity lmao: Atting!
@somanyspoons @wannakissrobits @desolate-rose @blossombostonian @badscientist @glicoloidpocky but no pressure!

Days Before the Dance
Tumblr media
@flashfictionfridayofficial Again with the building of a world just for a flash fic.
It was almost time for Annie’s first dance.
She’d graduated from school today. In a few days she would dance with a partner for the first time.
Really she’d danced with partners in class at the end of the year, but with an instructor watching it didn’t count. Her real first dance would be at the dance in a few days. She knew who she wanted it to be with, although she didn’t already have it set up, like some of her friends.
Tonight she was just relaxing after graduation, although she kept throwing glances at the closet where her dress was hanging. She’d shared a picture of it, of course. Most girls who were going to the dance did. Her mom had gone into a little nostalgic rant about how when she was a girl, girls who were going to the dance kept their dress a surprise until they got there.
“Annie?” said a voice from the door. Before Annie even had a reasonable chance to respond, it repeated impatiently, “Annie?”
“Yes?” said Annie, looking up from what she was reading.
“Come out here.” Nika, her older sister, looked annoyed, as if the family had been calling for Annie already. Which they hadn’t, Annie would have heard them.
“Be polite,” Annie ordered in return, not bothering to keep the annoyance out of her own voice.
Nika stared at her in disbelief. “You need to come out here. To the great room. Now.”
Annie sighed but put down her book and went. Whatever it was, it would be quicker to get it over with than keep arguing and wait until Mom got involved.
She expected someone to say something to her when she got to the great room. Nika, at least. But Nika went right back and dropped into the seat she’d always sat in when they were growing up, her eyes on what everyone else was watching. Which was the news.
It took Annie a minute to realize that it was the news, because it didn’t seem like real life. People running around, waving weapons, breaking things… at the main government building.
They were saying no one knew where the leader was, whether someone had happened to her or whether she was being protected by her bodyguards in some secret location, but the vice leader had been captured by the revolutionaries.
That was the word they were using. Revolutionaries.
Annie had known people weren’t happy with the government, but she had thought that was just the way it was. She had never thought of people doing something about it. With weapons and destruction.
And it wasn’t that far away. They were on the outskirts of the capital. Annie sat quiet and held her breath, almost hearing the noise, wondering if she was really hearing it or imagining it.
She opened her eyes and looked around. Everyone else’s eyes were still on the news, except her other sister. Kel’s eyes were closed. Dad was playing with the edge of his shirt, folding it into pleats, letting it unfold, folding it again. Nika had her hands on either side of her face, like she was a moment away from covering her eyes.
Annie wanted to ask what was going to happen, but that was a silly question, because nobody knew any better than she did.
She wanted to ask if they were going to be safe, but if her parents thought they wouldn’t be, they would be packing and leaving, wouldn’t they? Or did they just think trying to get away would be even less safe?
What she knew better than to ask, what she shouldn’t even be thinking about, was whether she was going to get to have her dance. However this was going to end, it wasn’t going to be over in a few days.
Wasn’t that always the fate of the youngest, to miss out on everything the older siblings got? When Nika graduated, there was a dance. When Kels graduated, there was a dance. When Annie graduated, there was a revolution.

As I do with most pieces of media I'm interested in, at the moment I will be reacting. Now I've already seen the movie and the TV show but it's been a couple years since I fully watched the movie scene for scene so.
MY BABYSITTERS A VAMPIRE REACTION:
Ew. Sry straighties. She just like 9 y/o me fr. Ethans voice crack. "High school brotherhood" i feel nostalgic for the beginning of High School. Even though mine was sh!t cause of a certain thing that happened in 2020. Okay Ethan says tomorrow but it's like raining outside and it's supposed to be August I'm presuming if school starts that next day? I don't remember his sister's name but frfr.
If they're starting out high school they're just now reaching teenager. Why is she going out alone. She gonna get k!dna££ed. One of my biggest fears. OMG RED HERRING. wtf was that dialogue. Nvm a cringy teen on 2010s internet would say that. Bro just d!ed. Him gagging lmao. Ew the socks. Wtf.
Oh yes, Twilight. Those girls walking in the hallway watching the movie on their phone remind me of when me and my friend in 8th grade just watch Netflix while we were running the mile. "Dances You Absorbed": Marginalia's Debut Single Illuminates the Night In the realm of cathartic nightlife anthems, Marginalia's first single "Dances You Absorbed" is a pulsating neon-lit invitation into an intimate musical soiree. From its opening moments, where playful whistles mimic a phantom ringtone, there's an immediate beckoning into a soundscape that gleams with the sheen of modernity and wax nostalgic for dance floors past. https://open.spotify.com/track/4zm685jrD5Gc5Qo0TWxd4b Veronica Baron's vocals emerge like siren calls from an urban lighthouse—immediate yet ethereal—as Brett Cairns and Matt Legge weave their electronic tapestry beneath her. The trio arches over synth-waves while trickling beats crescendo into what can only be described as an uplifting house beat destined to keep spirits skybound until the early hours. The heart of "Dances You Absorbed" from Marginalia lies in its storytelling; each lyric unfolds another chapter in this night-bloomed fairy tale about fleeting connections that acquire permanence through music and rhythm. It feels as though these strangers-cum-friends have been painted vividly against the backdrop of a festive metropolis—their silhouettes stamped onto your memory amidst flashes of strobe lights. [caption id="attachment_53752" align="alignnone" width="2000"] "Dances You Absorbed": Marginalia's Debut Single Illuminates the Night[/caption] As you delve deeper into the track, one cannot help but recall the iconic echoes of club giants like Disclosure mingled with heartfelt indie pop vocal stylings not dissimilar to CHVRCHES. Yet, Marginalia carves out their niche ingeniously within those parallels, offering something both familiar and refreshingly individualistic—a reminder that we're all partaking in shared human narratives across time and space when we lose ourselves on the dance floor. "Dances You Absorbed" manages to thread emotionality seamlessly alongside infectious grooves designed to lead listeners through nocturnal revelry with optimistic abandonment. This sonic gem sparkles most brightly perhaps due to its life-affirming promise: no matter how evanescent our encounters might be under disco balls' revolutions or flickers from DJ booths, they leave imprints—a collective mosaic crafted by spontaneity turned serendipitous choreography by wayward dancers seizing joyous truths found between beats drops. Anchored firmly by Baron’s emotive charge even as synthetic reverb saturates Cairns’ intricate assembly line rhythms and tangles within Legge's crafted shimmers—Marginalia gifts us more than just sounds arranged neatly—they pulse forward gifting movement imbued within every absorbed reverberation hinting towards dawn yet cherishing dusk’s shadows still clinging at feet gliding unburdened; 'tis nothing less than magic pressed playfully between digital fingerprints—an earnest debut dancing brilliantly upon today’s synthesized constellations. Follow Marginalia on Website, YouTube and Instagram.

Fads Party Bus: A Journey Through the Decades of Fun
In the world of entertainment and leisure, the concept of a party bus has been nothing short of a revolution. It's a mobile venue on wheels, offering an immersive and unique experience for those seeking to revel in the joy of celebration. One such party bus, which has been gaining popularity in recent years, takes its passengers on a remarkable journey through the decades of fun - an experience that combines nostalgia, entertainment, and a sense of community like never before.
Tumblr media
The concept of the Fads Party Bus revolves around the celebration of various decades, allowing passengers to relive the music, fashion, and culture of their favorite eras. It's a concept that encapsulates the essence of time-travel, giving partygoers a chance to immerse themselves in the past while staying firmly rooted in the present. This article explores the phenomenon of the Fads Party Bus, delving into its appeal, impact, and the broader societal context in which it thrives.
The Birth of the Fads Party Bus
The Fads Party Bus is more than just a mode of transportation; it's an experience carefully curated to transport passengers through time. It all starts with the meticulously designed exterior, which resembles a fusion of iconic symbols and images from various decades. From the psychedelic colors of the 1960s to the neon lights of the 1980s, the bus is a visual spectacle that immediately sets the mood for what's to come.
Decades as Themes
The core appeal of the Fads Party Bus lies in its thematic approach. Each journey is centered around a specific decade, allowing passengers to dive headfirst into the culture, music, and fashion of that era. The bus is equipped with state-of-the-art sound systems that play hits from the chosen decade, immersing passengers in a musical time capsule. The interior is adorned with decorations that mirror the aesthetic of the era, from lava lamps and disco balls to vintage arcade games and retro furniture.
Diverse Appeal
One of the key factors contributing to the success of the Fads Party Bus is its ability to cater to a diverse range of people. Whether you're a nostalgic individual looking to relive your youth, a group of friends seeking a unique night out, or a company organizing a team-building event, the party bus offers something for everyone. The inclusive nature of the experience has led to a growing and loyal customer base.
Social Interaction and Community Building
In an era marked by digital isolation and social disconnection, the Fads Party Bus provides a unique platform for social interaction and community building. Passengers on the bus often find themselves striking up conversations with fellow travelers who share a love for the same decade. This sense of camaraderie is further fostered by the games, dance floors, and communal spaces on the bus.
Nostalgia and Escapism
Nostalgia is a powerful emotion, and the Fads Party Bus capitalizes on it expertly. For many passengers, stepping into a bus that transports them to a time when life was simpler and the music was timeless is a form of escapism. It offers a brief respite from the stresses of modern life, allowing individuals to momentarily relive the carefree days of their youth.
Impact on Local Culture
The emergence of the Fads Party Bus has also had a notable impact on local culture. These mobile time capsules have become a significant part of the nightlife scene in many cities, contributing to the vibrancy and diversity of entertainment options. Moreover, they often collaborate with local businesses and artists, creating a symbiotic relationship that benefits the entire community.
Challenges and Considerations
Despite its success, the Fads Party Bus concept is not without its challenges. One of the primary concerns is safety. Ensuring the well-being of passengers, especially when alcohol is involved, requires rigorous planning and adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, the environmental impact of running such vehicles should not be overlooked, and efforts to minimize carbon footprints should be a priority.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Fads Party Bus is more than just a mode of transportation; it's a cultural phenomenon that taps into our collective nostalgia and desire for unique experiences. It successfully combines elements of nostalgia, entertainment, and community building to create an unforgettable journey through the decades of fun. While it faces challenges, its impact on local culture and the satisfaction it brings to its passengers cannot be denied. As society continues to evolve, the Fads Party Bus serves as a testament to our enduring love for the past and our desire to escape into the memories of yesteryears, even if only for a night. It's a reminder that, in the midst of our fast-paced lives, we can still find joy in reliving the good times and celebrating the enduring spirit of human connection.
