âEver left the district, Nelson?â Lyme keeps a steady pace south, past the ruins of the city that once connected them to 10 and into the woods behind the fence. This fence is high, near a thicket of trees that hardly cover it but, unlike the one up north, is not charged.
Heâs come close to the fence up north, ventured past it enough times to keep his mouth shut about it. He knows he can trust Lyme, but Jack doesnât tell heâs made use of the broken part that doesnât charge up near a pine tree.
Besides she hasnât been clear about this camping trip, all she said is that theyâll meet up with a friend of theirs at their destination. Now that theyâre here, he knows she means Eva.
âWhy are we going there?â he needs to know what the fuck is this for.
âAfter the two of you came out of the attic covered in dust, I thought I would show you this place. I needed to know Eva would appreciate such a visit and she demanded I bring you next time.â Lymeâs never lied to him before, but he knows sheâs not telling him everything.
There was something else, something Eva was privy to. Eva would likely tell him; she hardly keeps any secrets from him in their strange whatever this is.
He really likes her, their stolen moments together were great, but theyâll only see each other half a month every year.
But he didnât know about the trail before and that now changes things.
Jack wouldnât mind seeing her often, preferably without Lyme. Maybe they could see where it goes instead of staking everything on how long the games last and that one of their tributes wins.
It would also be nice to pretend the world doesnât exist for a moment, his times at his cabin are longer working. For fuckâs sake he printed out a photo of her at a lingerie shoot last July and kept it for lonely nights instead of seeking out the bartender that sort of looks like her if youâve been drinking.
Heâs still debating whether this was a good idea when he eats shit trying to walk over what used to be a road. Itâs not enough to injure him, just leave his knee and shin hurting like a bitch as they walk to the farm he sees in the distance.
The fields are empty, the animals pay no attention to them, and the house sits on a small hill looking like something out of a dream.
It was plain white wood with a stone chimney and a porch wrapped around it, all surrounded by carefully marked gardens and flowerbeds marked by a simple dirt path outlined with pale stones.
Jack canât help but smile when he sees her waiting for him. He doesnât even mind the fact that heâs been limping for the past mile or so.
âGonna have to stay the weekend, I wager.â He says even though he knows the aloe vera sheâs wrapped around his lower leg to reduce the pain by morning.
Jack canât help but think of ways to stay here longer without Lyme stuck here with them. Having Eva so near him was already making him wish they were alone.
âI wasnât planning on staying here with you two lovebirds. Have some friends Iâll be staying with back home to give you an alibi.â The blonde admits as she helped herself to the lunch Eva had prepared just for them.
Sheâd dressed up, tried to make it look like she hadnât, but the thought that sheâd put an effort for him was rather sweet. Sheâd even remembered foods he had liked.
If heâd known he was coming here, he wouldâve brought her something or at least packed some condoms. Jack supposed he could fix that next time he comes here, without Lyme preferably.
âMy workers donât work on weekends, and they come late on Monday since I wanted to be sure no one knows about this.â Eva supplies with a bit of embarrassment at Lymeâs words. âAs far as everyone knows, I like coming here to get away from my auntie.â
The young man never gets around to asking Evie what she and Lyme are hiding from. Not that it matters, even without sex, heâs never had a Friday night heâs enjoyed like this these past six years.
âIf Iâd known Iâd be seeing you this weekend, I wouldâve brought you something. My mama raised me never to arrive empty-handed, especially with a hostess as lovely as you.â He is so different from the young man he is at the Capitol, she supposed she too was different from who she was over there.
He's hairy, his strange red beard coming in nicely and making a sharp contrast with his darker body hair. Sheâs never seen him like that, the Capitol hates body hair so much they suggested laser hair removal for his chest. He wears earrings, small ones because he thinks they were cool and little Gina refused to wear any unless he did.
Jackâs free with his words and doesnât hide who he is, likes watching her as she goes about her day. Heâs not as hurt as theyâd thought heâd be, heâll be back on his feet by tomorrow morning even if the bruising will take its time leaving.
âMaybe next time.â Itâs evening, and after the aloe vera has dried up and become uncomfortable to wear, Eva helps him up to her bathroom upstairs.
He teases her, asks her to join him in the shower saying he wants to properly thank her for her hospitality.
The last person sheâs been with has been him and while her line of work has made her immune to nudity and find no real pleasure in sex, the mere sight of watching him undress has her jumping his bones in her shower.
They have so much fun in just these couple of hours together, both forget this was all illegal.
âWish I didnât have to leave on Monday.â He admits when they wake up together in her simple bed on Sunday and the morning sun bringing out the contrast of the brown ring at the center of his eyes. Heterochromia, he'd called it, another thing the Capitol doesnât like.
Laurie had been the one genetically engineered to be perfect, Jack was the one who came as nature wanted. And the Capitol hated what they couldnât bend to their will.
But Eva doesnât give a shit about what the Capitol like, she really likes Jack how he is with all these so-called imperfections that make him wonderful to her.
If Eva didnât know any better, sheâd think sheâd fallen in love with him. Feels strange, to have fallen for him in the span of a handful of days scattered about maybe five months.
âYou could always come visit; Lyme usually passes here once a month to see Aveline at 11. Shelby is a fan of impossible romances it seems.â Eva doesnât mean to call them a romance, but the word slips either way.
âBeats having to wait a year come to think of it. Your birthday is in two weeks isnât it?â he smiles softly as he pushed away her fringe from her face.
âYeah, why do you ask?â the dark-haired girl wonders what he could be thinking.
âI owe you a gift for the hospitality.â
And she waits for him on the night of her 24th birthday in her best dress and thanks her lucky stars that Clemens never fails to send her birth control pills and that the weather was better than last year.
Jack brings a small radio older than they are that lets them hear the music from his district as they dance in her house as his gift, Eva bakes her favorite cake and buys a tiny bottle of white tequila for two.
He sings terribly, he likes this song. A romantic ballad his mom sang to him as a lullaby as a kid that he hummed to himself when he was in his games when the others werenât paying attention.
The words come unbidden as she buries her face into his chest laughing from all the fun she has with him here, âI love you.â
Jack stumbles over the chorus he knows so well before growing still and then pretending it nothing changed. He doesnât say it back, his body language telling her it was too soon, but he doesnât leave, and both act as if she never said it.
That night Eva dreams sheâs back in the arena only this time its not Laurie she kills, its Jack.
âI get them too.â Jack comforts her as if heâd seen what she saw. He holds her tightly as he soothes her unaware that sheâs doomed them by joining the rebels.
Its spring when people begin to notice the change in him. Its summer when his mother finally asks him about it.
âYouâre in love, arenât you?â his mother asks when she notices how happy he is with his next gift for Eva.
He hadnât meant to, but when he saw the puppy left last time he was in town Jack couldnât help himself.
He likes dogs, she does too but keeps no pets because her cousin Ignacio is allergic and he lives with them in the Victorâs Village.
They could keep her at the farm, heâll come visit them and they can continue to play house there as theyâve done since Lyme brought him there.
Eva had said the words first, when they were dancing in her kitchen to some old song he liked om her birthday. He hadnât said it back, truth was, Jack wasnât sure what he felt for her then.
Now that heâs thinking of ways to take the pup to her, he realizes that maybe he does love her too.
Who wouldâve thought heâd fall in love with her?
âYeah, I think so.â
âShe lives in the south, this girl of yours. No wonder you never miss your hikes with Lyme.â his mom goes on with her assumption if this mystery girl and he doesnât correct her.
As far as people know in Evaâs district, she is having an affair with a married man because he forgot his flannel there and her aunt was told theyâd seen a man leave through the backdoor. He is Jacob the Carpenter who lives some farms away.
This was pretty tame in comparison.
Jack keeps it vague and hopes his mother forgives him one day.
Atia Nelson believes he is dating an apothecaryâs apprentice named Evie in the outlying village down south who lives in a farm with her aunt and is painfully shy.
âI hope youâll let me meet her one day.â She continues and he tries to hide his grimace remembering that Eva killed Laurie and lives in a different district.
His mother is open minded and progressive, but would she accept as a daughter-in-law the girl who killed her son?
Maybe one day, he thinks.
When he and Lyme meet up in their trail, he broaches the subject.
Lymeâs dad was still alive, knew she liked women and gave her the hunting knife she could be killed for if their district peacekeepers knew. He was once an officer, gotten discharged due to an injury in District 11 and hated the Capitol enough to teach his adopted daughter how to get in and out of the district undetected.
A great man, in short.
âDo you think we can trust my mom?â he asks as he leads the overeager pup walk in front of them for a short while.
âI donât know yet. Even my dad doesnât know where Aveline lives.â Not because he would betray them, but because these secrets get you killed or worse, turned into an Avox.
He couldnât do that to his family, especially six-year-old Gina and his grandparents. Besides his mother worked inside the mountain, and one false move could have them all killed to protect Panem.
But when June rolls around and he comes back right before the Capitol decides to shoot some special about previous victors before the Games begin, his mother recognizes the puppy ânow a half-grown dogâ sitting at Evaâs feet in her home at the Victorsâ Village.
âSo this is your girlfriend, this wonderful Evie you love so much, the bitch who killed your brother?â
Jack has never seen his mother so angry and disappointed in him.

Chapter 8
Cw: ageism, mentions of the Dark Days

Eva puts herself to good use, using her talent for horticulture as an excuse to visit the farm and spend time there ---she did run out of space at the victor village at least that part wasnât a lie. She plants, hires workers to raise the animals and till the fields and makes it known that all the things produced there were free to all.
Her aunt had joked and said she should try to run for office, as if they werenât all rigged anyways. Eva could do it, if victors were allowed to use their influence for anything less ornamental, but the Capitol fears what a victor could do.
She needs a way to chart how far this trail went into Two and Eleven. There were enough ruins to provide a good enough cover, but Eva feared the beasts ---both natural and the mutts--- that roamed these borders. Even worse, what sort of hell the President would punish her with.
Eva does not risk going past the first sign of danger, especially armed with only a walking stick and small pack.
Districts were carved out in ways where youâd be in the wilds for a few stretches to deter any type of travel not sanctioned by the Capitol after the Dark Days. Her grandma remembered how towns used to be here and when the borders werenât fenced off like that. Even the desert had towns and cities that hosted capitol and district alike.
But then the Capitol started hoarding the things the districts had and began leaving them out of the government. 13, being the more powerful district with great cities and nuclear weapons, retaliated and losing more than just the war. All dead, everything ruined and a cruel punishment to keep it from happening again.
10 had been amongst the last to rebel, their usual caution and fears of repercussions had them wait until they felt victory in their bones. If theyâd known Twoâs mountains were impregnable, they wouldâve never rebelled.
But they had and now theyâre all being punished for it 68 years later.
Eva makes her way back to the farm cautiously, careful to avoid leaving tracks that would incriminate her. She is not prepared for what she finds waiting for her on the porch.
âHow?â Eva asked, fearing theyâd be caught in minutes.
âYou wouldnât believe me if you knew, kid.â Tall, blonde and dressed in simple but sturdy clothing, sitting in her rocking chair to boot. Lyme, Jackâs fellow victor and mentor, had come.
âShe could be our symbol.â Clemens suggests as they chat over dinner with their strange new guest.
So many traitors sitting at this table. If Shelby wanted to, he could have them all killed, but he wonât. He wasnât Snowâs lackey like his predecessor was, he has a secret goodness he cannot hide.
Why else would he fight over Cashmere to keep her off the roster? Why else would he cover up Evaâs fling with Jack? Why else would he have the woman who took Finnickâs innocence murdered in broad daylight?
This man was one of them. Sheâd known it from the day she saw him.
âNo, she lacks the marketability.â Plutarch Heavensbee shook his head. âSheâs charming and good looking, but her story isnât very inspiring. For fucks sake no one even bet for her, nor did she have a single sponsor.â
And while she cared for Eva, not many saw what she saw in her. Not many remember Lucy Gray Baird, especially her own district.
âHer affair with Nelson could help.â Fulvia comments only to be shot down by her boss.
âDistricts hate 2, besides she killed his brother and that makes the whole thing unpalatable to everyone even us.â
Unpalatable.
Same thing Tigris was called when they fired her.
Her modifications were seen as stunning and beautiful when she was young, but when age began to take its course, she was mocked and greeted with disgusted looks even from the Capitol who once embraced her.
Coriolanus had gleefully told her why she was being fired, claimed he had received complaints from both the districts and her own protĂŠgĂŠ, Eva. The last had been a lie, Eva drunk out of her mind at the second stop of her tour had told her to her face that she loathed her for making her kill Laurie.
âSheâs not your symbol because the time isnât right yet, Heavensbee. Shelby narrows his eyes at the word âunpalatableâ as well, his entire life he has been branded with that. His marriage to Grace had proved he would never be able to remove the label, not while the old families still rule. âWe will worry about that later, for now we need to find ways to recruit more victors to our cause. They have sway with their own districts, most of them. So far, we have Lyme in 2, Solomons in 9 and if Lymeâs mission is a success, we may have 10 on our side.â
His idea had merit. To use the mentors and other victors to build a network of spies and agents for the rebellion they are building up, to use their influence and hatred for the system to gain followers.
An uphill battle for those in districts loyal to the capitol and a walk in the park for those who arenât. 10 needed more pushing than its counterparts given how close they are to here, but it was not as impossible as Lyme getting her people to listen.
Jack and his mother had some standing, Atia Nelson worked inside the mountain and flirted with treason. He would join them if Eva got him to, just like Rose, the stylist for 9, convinced Alfie to meet with them despite the risks.
Aveline trusted Seeder and Chaff and the restrictions 11 had didnât need much pushing to join them. Theyâd be the first to rebel just as they had done 67 years ago.
The time was coming, Tigris could feel it in her bones.
âHow far does it go into your district?â Eva asks the blonde mentor who has yet to convince her to join her.
âCanât tell until you give me your answer, Smith.â Lyme takes no shit from anyone, made her a force to be reckoned with. That combined with her training made her unmovable.
âIts not just me who dies if this fails, maâam. I donât follow blindly, I need to know everything and see if its worth the risk Iâm taking.â Eva knows they need a better future with the games gone and Snow dead, but itâs too much of a risk.
They didnât win the first time, what makes them think they can win on the second try?
âThe dinner Mr. Shelby had you get Clemens to organize, it wasnât just for gambling purposes. Theyâre all like us.â Lyme gives no hint at her patience wearing thin as she answers Evaâs questions.
âCardew is Snowâs great-niece.â The dark haired victor points out.
âBy marriage, no blood relation and whatever sheâs seen behind closed doors was enough for her to join. Shelby is not like Luca, Tigris is his cousin and you donât seem to have a problem with that.â The blonde points out.
TouchĂŠ.
âDoes Jack know?â Eva finally asks the question thatâs burning in her mind since Lyme arrived.
âNot yet.â Maybe not ever, not if you arenât there. Lyme doesnât say it, but Eva can hear it just the same.
Jack may hate the games, but he has his family to think of. To join you must accept you and your family could die in the process and even that those deaths will be in vain.
The cemetery was full of brave and drunks, her grandma was fond of saying, said so when Alan volunteered in Gabrielâs place and the train took him to his death.
But Evaâs been dead since that train took her to the glittering slaughterhouse beyond the mountains, Evaâs cousins consider having children something unthinkable thanks to the games and Tigris did manage to have a winning strategy, as loath as she is to admit it.
âI agree to join you on one condition. You must bring Jack next time you visit.â

đ´ Red- What is a trait your OC has that those around them don't see very often? Is it seen by a rare few or completely overlooked? đĄ Yellow- What is something your OC wants but knows they can never have? How does it feel to never get this specific desire? For Eva, please!
Thanks lauren đ đ¤đ¤
Red: people actually forget that Eva is capable of evil(and violence) and that she can be scarier than the guy she is paired with if you piss her off lol
Tommy has seen it once, in the og fic and has wisely never brought it up again. Jack took her to murder the American soldiers who killed her parents as their second date. And Luca kinda wins his vendetta because she drove Tommy to suicide by making him kill Lizzie, getting mrs ross to avenge her son by killing arthur and convincing him his family was turning against him all the while luca picked them off like flies.
Eva chooses to be good-ish because when she goes dark, there is no line she won't cross.
Yellow: eva desperately wants to be normal lol.
She was born to a filthy rich family with psychic abilities that manipulated the government and the economy for centuries in mexico, was baptized by the pope and was born in the sistine chapel, during a dictatorship that led to a 20 year revolution. Had her childhood home pillaged by american soldiers in the occupation of veracruz of 1914, was a political hostage for a week a year before that, became an Adelita(soldadera/female member of the army) in pancho villas army at 16, spying on the dictator while dating his son at age 21 (and havibg a secret romance with antonia who was engaged to her cousin)then was smuggled out of mexico 6 months into her house arrest(and forced sobriety)for treason which led to her meeting tommy in small heath while taking care of her senile romani grandma. Or in other fics, married a gangster she met once at the opera(luca) or was arranged to marry a millionaire for a green card after desecrating a confessional(jack)
Absolutely nothing in her life is normal amd she'd kill to be a normal person for a day atleast

The Fabulous Miss Shelby
Part one
Luca Changretta x Shelby sister
CW: mentions of an abortion
Gif by @x-changretta-x
In the beginning, the Shelbys and the Changrettas were not enemies.
They werenât friends, but they werenât enemies.
Occasionally Polly fucked Luca, the boys would go out for drinks with Angel and you and Ada would get nice clothes from Audreyâs nieces while she and mama talked.
But then things changed, Polly got married to Michael Gray after Luca was banished to New York, the boys had a falling out with Angel and you and Ada had to take care of Finn after mama died and papa left.
Before you knew it you were in your twenties and accepting an invitation to some Changrettaâs wedding just to avoid being rude.
No need to piss off the wops, Tommy had said after ordering you to go by your lonesome while he pines for the mousy bitch who nearly got them all killed.
âLong time no see.â Luca said as he tried making conversation with you.
You were in a foul mood, but the Italians had great food and drinks and maybe, just maybe one of them would take you to their place and return you with a limp later tomorrow.
Would it be too weird to fuck your auntâs former boyfriend?
It was only a six-year age difference, surely it wasnât that bad. And Polly had moved on and you hoped he had to.
âNearly a decade, Luca. John couldâve been a grandfather had you taken longer.â You joke and you feel like the stupid teenager who used to have the biggest crush on Pollyâs one time boyfriend.
âor you couldâve been married.â He adds and she tries not to choke on her wine.
One thing leads to another and now you are running off to New York just to see him.
Your brothers donât know anything about this, no they just think youâve decided to go on holiday with a friend.
A friend with money and connections and great skill with his cock.
âWe could get married, amore, our families arenât enemies. If you become my wife, our families could rule America and England together.â He says as the two of you lounge naked in tangled silk sheets.
You already lie and say you are husband and wife, why not make it true?
âThey wouldnât agree, you know that, my love.â You say knowing it will never happen.
âI could do some pest control and give them the Ratâs head on a platter, will that make them agree, tesoro?â he asks kissing you again.
As tempting as Graceâs justified murder is, you know that would make Tommy say no.
He loved her.
Just like Nathaniel in the Sandman loved Olympia thinking she was real.
It was pathetic really.
âNo, you know how she crowed about Tommy still being in love with her last night. Tommyâs always been a fool when it comes to love and fucking.â You shook your head hating this turn of conversation.
Besides. You were free and would remain so. You loved Luca, but you were never going to be a manâs wife.
That had been why you went to the woman who Polly knows instead of telling Luca you had gotten pregnant during that night a year ago.
âArenât we all fools in love.â He said with that stupid grin.
Maybe you are, you think, I am different.
You were the fabulous Miss Shelby, the one who doesnât suffer from the Achilles heel your siblings have.
Arthur had Linda, Tommy had Grace, Ada had Freddie, John had Martha and now Esme and you would be damned if you followed suit.
This way was better.
Itâs 1922 when Luca suprises you at the Derby.
âHe doesnât love you anymore, heâs marrying a woman named May Carlton.â You tell Grace a truth Tommy told you this morning.
Tommy was planning on courting May in truth, heâd asked for advice and you told him heâd find no better woman than her.
That night with Grace was a slip up, a fuck up heâd never repeat, or so he told you after you asked about that.
Grace MacMillan needed to woman up and accept defeat for his sake.
âYou are lying!â the blonde cries and takes a swing at you only to be stopped by Luca.
âWhy would my wife be lying to you? Thomas Shelby would be a fucking fool to marry scum like you, now go back to New York and pretend this never happened.â He stood at your side and stared her down as he chewed on his toothpick.
âI need to hear it from him.â She demands only for Luca to say the damning words.
âToo bad, heâs been arrested and wonât be coming out of there for weeks.â Luca built up on a lie.
Once Grace leaves in a mess of anger and tears, you are reminded of that question you refuse to answer.
âI think wife was too much, Luca.â You tell him as the two of you walk away together.
âI want to marry you, that is why I came here. Thomas canât say no of he sees how happy I make you.â He is adamant, thinking that what you need is time.
No man respects your decision to remain free. You love your freedom more than you love Luca.
And he refuses to accept that.
He will never accept that; you hear Pollyâs voice in the back of your mind.
Its 1925 when you accept an engagement from him.
He is not allowed at Tommyâs wedding and you are relieved when everything goes wrong.
Angel started seeing Lizzy and this had made a mess because Tommy still held a torch for her.
No woman was enough for Tommy, not Grace, not Lizzie, not even sweet May.
Tommy set the boys loose on the Changrettaâs territory and now you wonder if you should just send Luca the diamond ring he gave you on your birthday instead of telling Tommy you were engaged to him.
âYou shouldâve told them!â Lizzie hissed in pain as her dreams with Angel crumble to dust. âHe wouldâve let me go if you had told them about Luca!â
After three months of thinking about it you decide to tell him at the opening of Mayâs charity.
âI need to tell you something, Tommy.â You wear Lucaâs ring on your finger as May talks to John and Esme across the ballroom.
Everyone lived May, who couldnât?
You only hoped your family would accept Luca as well.
âIs this about this mystery man youâve been with all this time?â he said pointing to the ring.
âYeah, Iâm going to marry him and I think itâs about time you knew who he is.â You begin only to be interrupted by a gun shot and shouting.
The man shouts in Italian, but he isnât one. You know the Italians wouldnât do this, not when they know your marriage will fix the issues with the family and let Angel and Lizzie leave tonight.
âFor Angel!â the man shouts and aims at John.
But itâs not John he hits, no, itâs May.
May who could never hate anyone. May who brings out the good in Tommy and doesnât judge any of your like Grace did.
Its when you see the sickening smile on the Russian bitch that you realize who sent the gunman.

The Fabulous Miss Shelby
Part 1
Part 2
May do a part three
Gif by @imaginesbymk
Cw:murder, mentions of child loss
May doesnât die, but Angel does.
May had been pregnant and the baby had been lost from her brush with death.
Angelâs death was caused by the Russians too.
Everyone just wanted to believe that Tommy would put a pillow over his face because his baby son was born too early.
Too bad no one believed you.
The only way to stop this was to marry Luca as soon as possible.
Tie the families together to prevent bloodshed.
âI canât marry you, Y/N. Angel is dead because of him. My baby brother is dead. I cannot marry his murderers sister.â He cries as he tells you when the tables are turned and he leaves you at the altar.
âIf I could make Tommy see sense, I could be of use.â May says when you burden her with your problems.
May had been the only one to know about you and Luca.
Tommy is different, and you understand why he is now harder and meaner and cruel.
He almost lost his wife along with their child, but he was blaming the wrong people.
The Italians werenât to blame, Section D was the real villain.
âYou need to tell him about Luca, tell him why he was at the Charity with you.â She urged you as Tommy kept her like a princess in a tower.
âI will, May, once he comes back from the dinner Iâll come clean.â You swear to her.
The universe hates you; you think as your invincible twin brother is tossed outside your place with a broken skull.
Is this your punishment for saying no to Luca those five years with him?
You didnât want to marry him then and now that you want to be his forever you just canât.
And worse, you canât confide in Tommy about it.
âWhat happened to your fiance?â he asks when he is fine enough to talk.
His recovery was going smoothly, maybe it was because he had May who was guiding him to the finish line like a lighthouse in a storm.
âDidnât work out, Tom.â You say and bite your tongue. Wouldnât have in the long run, heâs Italian and you think Italians hired a Russian with bad Italian to kill John.
âYou really loved him, didnât you?â he asks and you look away.
No one knew you better than your twin and no one knew Tommy like you did.
âYeah, he waited five years to get a yes from me and now that I said yes he said no.â you admit.
âDo we know him?â he asks again.
You should lie and say no.
âYeah. Luca Changretta. Thatâs why he was at the party, they werenât planning anything against you. He was there so I could introduce him as my fiancĂŠ.â Itâs too soon. The doctors said no bad news, but this canât wait anymore.
âThen who sent the man after May?â Tommyâs angry thinking love has turned your head to mush. Youâre not him, he forgets that all the time.
âMan was Russian, stole the clothes of one of Angelâs men. Same Russians who framed you for Angelâs accident and death that night too.â You answer, you always did have the answers to the questions he could never ask anyone else.
âWho did you fuck over, Tommy?â its your turn to ask.
âNo one, thereâs a group of people who donât like paying for the dirty work. Didnât know that until Churchill had me sign the fucking contract for the job.â
You arenât the first Shelby to run away in a wedding dress and pregnant with your husbandâs child.
Polly had, Ada and now you.
Heâs in Liverpool with his parents when you reach him.
âTommy didnât kill him. I swear to you that he didnât.â Instead of a bridal bouquet you have the identity of Angelâs murderer.
But he doesnât believe you.
If his parents donât, he wonât either.
But he marries you then and there when you tell him you are pregnant.
You cease to be Miss Shelby then.
âYou cannot save your family.â Your mother-in-law says as she holds baby Angela, Lizzie and Angelâs baby girl while she tells you the news Luca will not tell you.
She thinks itâs wrong that Tommy doesnât get to pay for killing Angel.
Audrey takes sick delight in tormenting you. She hates that Luca lives you more than he should.
She hates that you for being a Shelby, and she hates her unborn grandson for being one too.
You are seven months pregnant, a boy, you are sure of it.
You cannot save your family from the noose Tommyâs deals tied around their necks.
And all you can do is cry on Lucaâs chest when your mother-in-law tells you their execution date has been moved up.
You give birth to Thomas Changretta in the bleak midwinter.

The Fabulous Miss Shelby
Part 3
Gif by@mrs-gray
Life seems to regain its colors after baby Tommy is born.
He is Thomas to you and Tommaso to everyone else.
You knew grief, you had lost your mother, John and your family, and you knew with time it no longer hurts as much.
You are no longer the woman you were, the Fabulous Miss Shelby had been buried with her twin brother in Small Heath. You were the Elegant Mrs. Changretta who was the moon to the sun you used to be.
Luca is as loving and attentive as always, making up for the loathing his mother feels for you.
But he refuses to let you go home and grieve for your family properly. Not only that, he has his people keep you disconnected from them and ensure your ties home remain severed.
You loved him, but he became what you had dreaded worst.
Luca had become your jailor and your marriage a prison.
But he had underestimated you and overestimated the loyalty of the housemaids. You planned your escape ---youâd return to him eventually, you think--- and took your son with you home to Birmingham.
As far as they know you are only going to spend the winter holidays with your family.
You walk with your head up high down the streets you grew up in and rang the door at 6 Watery Lane as if you werenât shaking from the anxiety of facing your family after deserting them in the name of love.
You were not expecting Him to open the door. He was dead, he was buried with baby Charles in the mausoleum in Arrow House. But he is there alive and furious and happy and everything in between.
You throw yourself into his arms unable to keep your composure, âYouâre alive, youâre alive. They told me you were dead, and Iâm so sorry I believed them, Tom.â
âWe Shelbys are hard to kill.â he says and welcomes you in as if nothing had happened.
On Christmas Day, every Shelby receives Lucaâs calling card, a Black Hand.

Hi, July!! For the ask game:
đ˘ Green- What is considered a weakness in your OC that is actually a strength? What is a strength in your character that can be twisted into a weakness?
đľ Blue- How would your OC spend a single day of interrupted peace? Where would they go or who would they be with?
For thg!Eva
Thanks Flor đ¤đ¤đ¤
Green: thg!Eva considers her lack of fighting skills to be a weakness, because in the event of an actual fight she'd die without Jack or in her first games, Laurie.
Its technically her strength because she makes up for it with her healing skills, quick thinking and survival skills.
Blue: her farm, with Jack, just pretending they are a normal couple (family if you add baby laurie) who isn't breaking several laws by being together.
She would love to see Jackâs cabin in his district, and eventually they'll go there during the war

End of part 1
Part 2
Notes
The Sandman is a short story by E.T.A Hoffman in 1817 about Nathaniel who is obsesses with this man named Coppola whom he believes is a monster called the Sandman (turns out to be right, but no one believes him) , Nathaniel also falls in love with his ideal woman, his teacher Spallanzani's daughter, Olympia, after dumping his ex ,Clara, who he felt too artificial (being a normal woman with a good head on her shoulders)only to find out that Olympia is a human looking doll who is cold to the touch, described as dull and mechanical bybeveryyone else. Olympia can play and sing and only say ah ha in converstion and listens to his boring shit with interest cuz she is in fact a fucking robot and not a real human. Nathaniel then goes insane after discovering she is a doll created by his tecaher and Coppola/Coppelius.
