damn twin peaks really was just like. ok this is our dead girl laura palmer and this is her girlfriend donna and their boyfriend james and james & donna’s girlfriend maddy (who is also laura’s cousin). and this is is laura’s OTHER boyfriend bobby and his girlfriend shelly who is married (FUCK LEO JOHNSON) and this is shelly’s boss norma the love theme plays over a lot of their scenes which is interesting to say the least. and here we have norma’s husband hank and her boyfriend ed and ed’s wife nadine. it goes on basically the entire town is somehow romantically linked to each other. and here to investigate laura’s murder we have special agent dale cooper and his girlfriend diane and his ex albert and coop & albert’s boyfriend harry and his girlfriend josie. also present are the strange number of evil old men obsessed with josie, cooper’s new girlfriend annie, and audrey horne who has a thing for him but he won’t date because she’s 18. also gordon cole. who’s the lady with the log? we call her the log lady.

I've put together a new fangame for Twin Peaks! I was asked to be a guest for the @afemmesofatal zine, and created a creepy short visual novel. It focuses on Annie Blackburn, with other characters, especially Cooper, Laura, and Norma, showing up throughout various points in time.

hey!

oooh, such an amazing question! i don't know if i can do it justice, what i have is more of an analysis but let me know if you'd like something different.

so i found that there's a theme of wanting something someone else has (as in Dale having an affair with his partner's wife, or Shelly and Bobby dating). but i think it's most obvious when it comes to Donna. many people argue she's a lesbian, but i think her actions stem from something different which is actually a paralell between Laura and Norma. Laura is the definition of the american beauty: blonde, blue-eyed, homecoming queen. this had earned her the attention of many, especially men - and i think Donna was really envious of that. i agree that she did not love James (though their relationship has many layers and explanations) but craved the attention that her friend got before. i see Norma as a "Laura in the 70s", especially considering Nadine and how she saw Norma and Ed as "the perfect couple" in their highschool years. Norma ends up dating a "bad boy" and marrying Hank (while seeing Ed behind his back), just as Laura was dating both Bobby and James.

but i think what the point is that it's not bad of Donna and Nadine to crave the kind of affection Laura and Norma get but that despite the rosy appearances, these "american beauties" had many struggles. and both Donna and Nadine learn that the hard way.

i'm probably not the first one to recognise this, but as i've said, if you'd like something else, just let me know. 🤗

Once again, there are two facts in this post

Fact #1

During a panel for The X-Files with David Duchovny, who played Denise Bryson, Duchovny was asked about his role of DEA agent Denise Bryson.

He revealed that the role was originally written for Mark Frost's friend, cult actor James Spader. However, Spader ended up having to turn down the role due to a scheduling conflict with another shoot, so the role was offered to young up-and-coming actors and David got the part.

And the only thing he now regrets about his time during the first two seasons of the show is that none of his scenes were directed by Lynch.

Fact #2

The show and the prequel movie's immense popularity in Japan led to a series of commercials advertising Georgia canned coffee.

The commercials starred Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Cooper), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Catherine Coulson (Log Lady), Harry Goaz (Andy Brennan), Michael Horse (Hawk) and Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran) as well as a new agent, "Ken," played by a Japanese actor. The spots presented a new mystery and even referenced the Black Lodge.

The Rogue of Life [symbols: domino mask, vines]

The Rogue class is based on Robin Hood.

The Life aspect’s main theme is growth. You can find its official description here.

A Rogue of Life is among those who use energy to influence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Life/Doom. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Life/Doom dichotomy (energy to influence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Rogue of Life passively steals the Life aspect. Passive classes are guided by others or act for the benefit of others. They are more likely to be kind, but less likely to stand up for themselves. Thieves and Rogues steal their aspect and everything it symbolizes to grant it to someone else. Simplified, the Rogue of Life is motivated by others to steal growth.

In personality, the Rogue of Life lacks self control and keeps trying even if they fail. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the Free Spirit Child, defined by reckless growth. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Thief of Doom, who actively steals caution.

Their inverse is the Knight of Doom, who actively utilizes caution.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Rogue of Life begins life motivated by themselves to utilize caution. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead stealing growth for others. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to steal the Life aspect passively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with the Heir of Heart, the Child Free Spirit.

The Rogue of Life would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Cubes [Rogue] and Life [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Topiaries and Spores. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Hebe (Goddess of Youth) or Asclepius (God of Medicine). Other Life aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Rogue of Life completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of butterflies (symbols of pollination). A list of soul animals can be found here.

The characters that I have currently classpected as Rogues of Life are: Robin Hood from English Folklore, Poison Ivy from Batman, Arwen from Lord of the Rings, Rogue from X-Men, Norma Jennings from Twin Peaks, and a Spirit of Compassion from Dragon Age.
