I've noticed a few posts lately talking about Makeshift from Transformers Prime.

I get the appeal. He's a minor character with a total of two appearances in fiction (not counting the children's book that's just an adaptation of "Con Job"), who has an interesting ability that gives him a lot of potential for stories. What I haven't seen though, is literally anyone talking about Universe Makeshift, so it pleases me to be the first.

I have no idea why I love him so much. I don't even think he's enough of a character to count as a Glup Shitto. He's never appeared in any fiction. He has no official bio or personality. He doesn't even have a figure that can stand properly. All he has is being a bluish-purple late 60s muscle car with knife and claw hands, but that's apparently enough for me.

i just love freddie’s approach to taylor interacting with willy regarding his mom its just perfect. like the more obvious approach was probably to just go protective and annoyed. but taylor’s reaction is so much better! willy’s like “i fuck your mom” and taylor’s like ‘cool is she having a good time? isnt she a really cool lady?”. and it also just provides such an amazing opportunity to show why flawed, as everyone else is, what really sets them apart from willy, who can’t seem to comprehend that taylor would just want his mom to be happy

No, Ange had said, even though he knew he was. From a practical point of view his only alternative living arrangement at the time had been another controversial stint on his mom’s couch down in Florida, but he hadn’t thought about it like that. He’d only thought of Jason, of Jason’s lips, Jason’s thighs, Jason’s laughter when they were rolling around together between the sheets. He’d been too in love to think straight, and so had Jason. Yes, he’d admitted to his mother – there was an element of trauma-bonding to their whole romance, what with Ange having been possessed by a ghost for much of it, but there had been other elements. Like great sex, and having someone who understood him so well that every now and again he’d be shook down to the foundations by the looming six-foot-seven certainty that he’d finally found his soulmate. “Look,” he’d told his mom. “I didn’t see myself falling in love with a cryptid-sized Yooper who brings chicken McNuggets to an exorcism, either, but it happened. He’s under my skin, and that’s that.”

He would hyper fixate on a very niche interest, such as the anatomy of horses, for months or years before abandoning it.

He wrote treaties on science, art, and engineering that were hundreds of years ahead of his time, but he never published them and most were forgotten about after his death.

It's only in the last century or so that these treaties have been identified and studied.

are there any major decisions that taylor (the character) made in the course of the book that you fundamentally disagree with? and if so, why?

So far I'm still just getting through Insinuation, so I've not had a chance to look over most stuff. Worm Taylor definitely messes up a lot, but it's things she couldn't have known at the time, and all in all I'm often left feeling like she made the best choice she could based on the situation. If things were different or if she had known better other options would be there, but they weren't, so she went with the best she had. On occasion early Worm has been very funny for me though: The addition of having meta-knowledge and "memories" from the first time around means I keep picking up on all these tiny hints and pieces of foreshadowing the rest of my system missed on their first reading.
